   We can use the following guidelines from the chapter to
    consider how they apply to your individual content area (pg.
    178-179):
   1. Guide through a discussion of power and discrimination
   2. Involve students in investigation of inequalities of American society
   3. Cultivate commitment of social justice and equality
   4. Promote understanding of nature of culture and respect for individual
   5. Cultivate knowledge of the culture of groups other than those in power
   6. Engage in self examination of how their biographies shape their perceptions
    of the world
   7. Engender an understanding of how language evolves
   8. Provide overview of first and second language acquisition
   9. Develop an understanding of history from multiple perspectives.
   10. Give exposure to multicultural literature
