Examples Of Pedagogical Model Of E-Learning
Pedagogical Models for e–Learning 2.1 Preamble Pedagogical models constitute one of three main
components in the e–learning continuum. The other two components are instructional strategies and
pedagogical tools or online learning technologies. All three components work in tandem to provide
the outline for a theory–based design framework to facilitate the orchestration of learning activities
to deliver online learning. In simple term, the mechanism by which they function can be likened to a
set of cogwheels setting in motion all activities relative to the dimension of teaching and learning
and driving the dynamics triggered by a set of predetermined learning objectives to make learning
possible. Pedagogical models are pre–cursors to defining instructional strategies. In turn,
instructional strategies provide the directions to educators to design learning activities which are
accomplished through the use of digital (learning) technologies, encompassing both asynchronous
and synchronous communication tools to orchestrate e–learning. 2.2 Pedagogical Models for E–
learning Many pedagogical models have been linked e–learning. During the course of this essay, I

If I may conclude, both open learning and distributed learning are very much identical in essence,
but as to how and why educators have presented both models as separate entities, is somewhat
baffling. Just like open learning, distributed learning transcends the limitations of time and place,
regardless of distance, for learners to undertake learning at their convenience, be it in the comfort of
their home or at work. Contact with course facilitators is established through the use of both the
asynchronous and synchronous modes, such as e–mails, student forums, online discussions,
webinars and other forms of computer–assisted digital

Principles of Professional Practice
NMC Report
Introduction
For this report I have been asked to compare and contrast the principles of regulations of two care
professions. I have decided to choose Nursing and Social Work because I am currently training to be
a nurse and I would like to see the difference between Nursing and Social Work education, training
and codes of conduct as this is a field I don't know much about.

Continuing Professional Development
Both these professions expect the same high standards when it comes to education and training.
Nursing and Social Work both have requirements for continued professional development and
lifelong learning. It is essential that Nurses and Social workers keep a record of their training
throughout their careers.
To be able to remain working and practicing as a nurse or a midwife you must keep your skills and
knowledge up to date through lifelong learning. This requires that nurses complete 450 hours of
registered practice along with 35 hours of learning activities every three years along with the annual
fee of £100. Medicines, treatments and equipment are continuously changing so it's important that
nurses keep up to date to ensure that patients are getting the best available care. "You must take part
in appropriate learning and practice activities that maintain and develop you competence and
performance" (NMC, 2008 p6).
Social Worker's must undertake "relevant training to maintain and improve your knowledge and
skills and contributing to the learning and development of others" (SSSC, 2009 section 6.8). The
requirement of continued learning is fifteen days which can consist of courses, reading

Pediatric Physical Therapy Education
Investigation of student perceptions of an experiential–learning educational model that fosters
interprofessional collaboration to maximize the participation of children with mobility impairments
during a community–based event.
I. Specific Aims (1–page limit)
The overall goal of this project is to analyze perceptual changes in students using self–reported
qualitative measures and survey tools that focus on empathy and competencies for working within
an interprofessional team during a semester long, experiential–learning elective course that engages
students within a pediatric, inter–professional, community–based event. Experiential–learning
creates a practice–based opportunity for students to apply knowledge gained from a traditional
didactic classroom. (Richards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Schreiber) In a recent Special Communication article in Pediatric Physical Therapy, Schreiber et al,
recommended the use of pediatric based experiential–learning opportunities as a mechanism in
achieving the five essential core competencies during pediatric physical therapy education.
(Schreiber) The authors also highlighted the positive outcomes experienced by students who
participated in service learning activities, including having a greater understanding of the patient's
environment as well as improved problem–solving and clinical skills. (Schreiber) While engaging
with children attending Sensory Friendly Time (SFT), students will be provided a practice–based
opportunity to work, hands–on with the child as well as interacting with students from other
disciplines. As only 7% of programs require a pediatric clinical educational placement, developing
formal, pediatric, practice–based experiences is critical to allow students to practice psychomotor,
cognitive and affective or interactional skills that are specific to children.

Reflection On Quality And Safety
QUALITY AND SAFETY: REFLECTION.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION.
The WGU nursing program helped me in developing my professional definition of quality and
safety by enlightening my understanding of root cause analysis, and system failures. The IHI course
was an eye opener in my understanding of quality improvement, and the processes required to
enhance safety and quality improvement. The courses that really assisted me in my definition
include, the Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership, the Leadership and Professional
Image, and Professional Roles and Values; and the Evidence–Based Practice and Applied Nursing
Research.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACT SUPPORT.
My papers from the leadership learning experience task, and organizational systems and quality
leadership task 2 are some of the artifacts that I have included in this portfolio to support my
definition of quality and safety.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACTS SUPPORTING DEFINITION.
My paper from leadership learning experience task, supports my definition of safety and quality by
demonstrating how I proposed project that would enhance the safety and quality of my clients who
were at risk of developing pressure ulcers. On the other hand, my paper from the organizational
systems and quality leadership task 2 support my definition of safety and quality by demonstrating
my capacity to coordinate root cause analysis, and designing projects that would enhance safety and
quality by correctly identified system failures.
QUALITY AND SAFETY: IMPORTANCE OF IHI CERTIFICATE.
My Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certificate is an artifact that supports my capacity in
safety and quality improvement in healthcare. This course enlightened on my role as nurses in
enhancing safety and quality in my workplace. I have already proposed the need in including staff
nurses in the quality improvement committee to my employer. I believe I will be among the staff
nurses who will be sitting in the committee, and I am going to take the role of an informal leader
and a change agent in that committee. As an informal leader and a change agent, I will devote my
energy in refocusing the thinking of my colleagues, so that they are able to visualize

The Importance Of Professional Development
Engaging teachers in a learning community, fosters professional growth by developing relationships
among peers (Schramm, 2006). Learning communities provide professional development that is
implemented to improve the learning of students and professionalism of teachers. Teachers within
learning communities are organized in order to collaborate on addressing goals that are aligned with
expected school and district outcomes. Effective leadership is a key factor in effective
implementation of professional development within a school (Schramm, 2006). In order to
maximize the benefits of professional development opportunities, school leaders need to provide
staff development that is focused on improving the learning of students. Focused professional
development requires skillful school leaders who are knowledgeable and capable of guiding
teachers and the school in continuous instructional improvement. Providing teachers with access to
resources that support the strategies learned during professional development is imperative for
effective implementation (Schramm, 2006). Increasing teacher exposure to educational resources,
benefits both the teacher and the student. However, in–order for resources to adequately meet the
need of the teacher and student, professional development must be provided on effective use and
implementation. Professional development that provides teachers with the tools and knowledge to
effectively use data is necessary for improving student outcomes

Reflective Essay On Professionalism
Professionalism can be defined as "the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a
profession or a professional person."(Merriam–webster) My interpretation of this definition is that
professionalism is a standard that we must hold ourselves accountable to in order to provide the best
service. How do we get from a basic understanding of this definition, to practicing and applying
professionalism? Major attributes that lead to professionalism can include accountability,
communication and reflective practice. Reflective practice in the healthcare system is when
"practitioners engage in a continuous cycle of self–observation and self evaluation in order to
understand their own actions and the reactions they prompt in themselves" (becoming a better
university teacher...). In the day–to–day life, everyone performs a type of reflection whether it is by
unconscious thought or by habit. When it is unintentional it is hard to learn and grow from the
knowledge that can potentially be gained. Therefore we need to find a way to effectively incorporate
reflective practice into our daily lives, especially as radiation therapy students.
There is a simple three–step framework for practical, structured reflection by Dr. Natius Oelofsen
that really stood out to me. Reflective practice should not be complicated or time consuming or else
it will not be done efficiently or effectively. We need reflective practice to become habit during our
school years in order for it to be

The Core Features Of Teacher Professional Development
CHAPTER II REVIEW OF LITERATURE Chapter II presents a review of the previous research in
five areas. First, it presents a review of brief history, importance and the core features of teacher
professional development. Second, it presents main stages and primary models of teacher
professional development. Third, it presents the role of principal leadership in a teacher's
professional growth. Fourth, it presents a review of some cases of successful and unsuccessful
teacher professional development programs of American public schools, and some reasons for
failure of professional development programs. Finally, it presents the basic concepts and principles
of National Staff Development Council's professional development framework and its importance
and application in teacher professional development process. History, Importance, and Main
Features Brief History of Teacher Professional Development The educational reform movement in
the United States has set ambitious goals and many factors contribute to accomplish them. However,
many researchers accept the fact that improvement in the teachers' instructional beliefs and practices
lead to academic improvement (Birman at el., 2000; Cuban, 2009; Garet et al, 2000; Glickman,
2002). Furthermore, student outcomes mostly rely on teachers and their teaching (Haycock, 1998).
Realization of this fact led educational scholars and policy makers to consider professional

Improving Quality And Standards Of Health Services
A recent study, by Baur, Fehr, Mayer, Pawlu & Schaudel (2011) concluded that the growing demand
in health sector, resulted in rapid change in patients' expectations. As a result, meeting patients'
expectations, while maintaining standards and quality of healthcare service has been the crucial part
in health sector. However, maintaining the service standards does not only refer to increasing the
number of health professionals. Providing optimal care service to the patient, also contributes
hugely in improving quality and standards of health service. Taking this thing in consideration, in
1994, continuing medical education (CME) programme was launched and it gradually broadened to
cover professional education. Hence, in 2000, CME programme ... Show more content on

The HCPC, also expects all the health registered professionals to undertake CPD programme and
comply to their five standards of CPD, to remain registered with them and for fitness to practise. If,
under any circumstances, the health professionals fail to meet the standards of CPD, they may ask to
remove their registration from the register (HCPC, 2014). However, as mentioned by the Society
and College of Radiographers (2014, a), the importance of undertaking CPD is not just about
maintaining registration with the regulatory body. CPD ensures that the knowledge and skill of
health professionals are up–to–date and relevant, it ensures continue competence and monitors
personal and professional effectiveness (Giri et al., 2012).
In a journal, by Shlom (2014), she stated, "The CPD model is cyclical and involves 4 phases:
reflect, plan, learn, and evaluate." Monitoring and recording activities, undertaken by health
professionals as a part of CPD, serves as a tool for reflection and self–evaluation. It allows them to
reflect on their learning/actions and identify their weakness and strength. It also gives them chance
to evaluate the outcomes of their activities, learn from their mistakes/success and plan for the future
from their experiences. Furthermore, by following

Classroom Management : Teachers And School Administration...
Introduction
Every year, new teachers step into a classroom in our school. As school administrators, we spend a
lot of time on discipline problems occurred in new teachers' classrooms. The intent of this
professional development is to help teachers to create a positive classroom environment where rules,
consequences, expectations, routines are clearly set by teachers. Beginning of each school year is
somewhat hectic in terms of discipline incidents that affects new teacher performances as well as the
relationship between teachers and school administration. New teachers are usually called to the
principal office to talk about the classroom management issues that demoralize them and affect their
motivation. Effective classroom management allows teachers to engage their students in learning;
therefore, it is a vital element of teaching effectively.
Evidence of Learner–Centered Principles
Michael Fullan stated (1999), "School improvement happens when a school develops a professional
learning community that focuses on student work and changes teaching. In order to do that, you
need certain kinds of skills, capacities, and relationships". I believe that a professional development
should have the features of learner–centered principals in order to improve their teacher. Our
classroom management professional development is organized around collaborative problem
solving activities such as activity #1: Identify an ineffective teacher and activity #2: Effective and

Simulation-Based Nursing Education Is An Increasingly Popular
Simulation–based nursing education is an increasingly popular academic approach. Structured
facilitated debriefing is an important strategy to engage students in learning and is essential in
simulation training. Further research is warranted to fully understand the impact of the method in
nurse education. It provides students with opportunities to practice their clinical and decision–
making skills through various real–life situational experiences. However, simulation approaches fall
along a scale ranging from low–fidelity to high–fidelity simulation. Debriefing approaches

Effective Professional Practice Essay
Introduction Due to an increased demannd for standards and accountability in the early childhood
education field, policy makers have increasingly turned to the development of effective professional
practice among early childhood educators (ECEs) as the predominant approach in securing better
outcomes for children. ECEs have thus found themselves under increased pressure to develop
professional practices through professional development which has been demonstrated to have a
profound impact on children's holistic development and their performance prospects in society. This

Therefore, development of effective professional practice is viewed from the perspective of
upgrading the skills and competencies of ECEs to cope with the increased quality demands of
schools. Professional development is seen as the key to improving the personal and professional
effectiveness skills alongside content and pedagogy of educators (Jensen, 2008). One of the
fundamental building blocks of developing effective professional practice is the personal and
professional values held by ECEs. According to Newman and Pollnitz (2005), it is important from
the onset for ECEs to understand the ethical implications of their work and subsequently agree on
underpinning principles or values which would form the basis of their code of ethics. These ethical
values and principles are what guide professionals in making decisions, choices or ethical judgments
over what course of action to take or to avoid in their profession. These professional values are also
expressed in various documents, systems and quality standards for ECEs to guide professional
development. For instance, the Early Childhood Australia's Code of Ethics (2006) sets benchmarks
for ECEs to ensure that they uphold high ethical responsibility standards in the care and education

The Importance Of Professional Development
Professional Development is a necessary component in the world of education, offering new
methods and strategies to the teacher for use in their classrooms. Unfortunately, some professional
developments have good intentions, but fail to be relevant for all teachers. Effective professional
development sessions are based on the needs of the teachers and interests and include opportunities
to collaborate and enhance their content knowledge. Teachers are given opportunities to reflect on
what was learned as well as be accountable to implement a new strategy and be provided feedback
throughout the implementation process. Many teachers view Professional Development as a one–
time event rather than a continual process, spanning over years of implementation. In a study aimed
to test the most common "best practices" of professional development, Garet, Porter, Desimone,
Birman, and Yoon (2001) used data collected from the Teacher Activity Survey as part of the
Eisenhower Professional Development Program. The teacher survey included the analysis of
structural and core features. Structural features included the type of activity as either traditional or
reform, duration of activity including hours spent in professional development, and collective
participation to include teachers from the same schools or various teachers across a District. Results
from this study indicated that effective Professional Development focusing on duration, collective

The Philosophy Of Adult Learning And Methods Of Delivery
Introduction The demands of today's society require that many professionals continue to learn
throughout their careers in order to maintain relevancy in a quickly changing world. Educators also
face the growing demand for accountability as they prepare students for a future that cannot be
predicted. With this pressure for change and accountability, practicing educators seek effective and
efficient ways to modify their curriculum and to improve instruction and assessment strategies that
will allow their students to succeed now and in the future. Educators learn informally on a daily

Many of these principles are based upon elements of andragogical practice. For example, one of the
core elements of andragogy is self–directed learning which is now incorporated at some level in
many models of effective professional learning for teachers. However, self–direction and other
andragogical principles are often ignored or diminished because of ignorance of adult learning
principles or due to limitations of resources such as time, finances, and expertise. For example,
Webster–Wright (2009) noted that the decontextualization of professional learning reinforces a
perceived division between what is learned by the teacher and what is actually put into practice in
the classroom. Because of limited exposure to the principles and application of adult learning,
teachers and principals possess varying levels of knowledge of andragogy and of self–directedness.
This limitation impacts educator satisfaction with professional learning that is based on principles of
andragogy and principles of effective professional learning. This literature review will consider the
impact of professional learning on the practices of teachers and on student achievement. The review
will also research current common practices of professional learning utilized by school districts as
well as principles of effectiveness for professional learning for teachers. The Johnson Effectiveness

How Workplace Is An Essential Part Of Professional Life
Modern workplace is a specific and highly changeable sphere where the interests of employees and
employers are highly interconnected and opposed at the same time. Workplace management has
become an important part of any organizations' life, especially during the last decades, when people
have been recognized by different management theories as the greatest assets of an organization.
Dealing with people, making them develop and learn, making them follow the planned agenda and
achieving something with the help of others have always been among the most important character
features of professional business and political lives. Although the simplest definition of management
as, Montana and Charnov (2008) defines it, is a "working with and ... Show more content on

However, the case study lack details about the acceptance of those changed practices by other
employees and, what is more important, employers.
II. History of Management and Workplace Learning. Theories and Concepts. Although a great
number of managerial practices have been used through the centuries of human development, they
were rarely investigated and conceptualized. However, it is clear that such important organizations
as the Church or the ancient armies were based on particular practices and concepts. The history of
management normally starts with the Industrial Revolution and the following mass production that
changed the face of the businesses and the world in general.
Each stage of the management theories development brought new ideas about the nature of an
organization, the place and importance of the workplace learning. One of the oldest theories of
management is the Scientific Management theory developed by Frederick Taylor, who tried to
develop the standards of organizations and their tasks. It is followed by the Bureaucratic
Management Theory suggested by Max Weber. This theory mostly concentrated on the types of
organizations and the hierarchy of organizational tasks and responsibilities.
These two theories compile the period, widely known today as a "traditional" management, where

My Nursing Philosophy : My Philosophy Of Nursing Practice
Nursing philosophy
My philosophy of nursing practice is being kind to others. I use my knowledge and skills to help
people. I also respect patients' preferences, values and choices even though they differ from mine. I
will try to understand and show empathy to my patients through seeing them beyond their illness
and provide holistic and culturally sensitive care. Nursing is not just a job that looks after the
sickness, rather, it is about the humanity, about being a human for another human.
As a profession, nursing is accountable for patients or clients, communities and society. Therefore,
my practice should always adhere to professional standards, guidelines and professional codes of
conduct. I have a commitment to quality of care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My professional learning plan, therefore, focuses on both clinical practice–being prepared for
transitional practice, and academic training–developing advanced research skills. While developing
my learning plan for career development, I also engaged Donald Super's five stages self–concept
theory (Super 1953) and Benner's five levels of clinical competence (Benner 1984). According to
Super (1953), between the age 25 to 44 is the establishment stage when a person experiences a
process of settling down and then advance the career. It requires the person to build entry–level
skills and stabilises position through work experience. As I am a culturally and linguistically diverse
(CALD) nurse, it could take 2 to 3 years for a CALD nurse to adapt into a new working
environment (Jeon & Chenoweth 2007). Therefore, my five–year professional learning plan was
developed with a focus on the next two years (Table 2).
Three strategies
These three strategies can support my both professional and scholarly development in becoming a
clinical research nurse.
1) Mentor and networking
The emotional stress and the needs to develop competence are commonly challenging newly
graduated nurses (Oermann & Garvin 2002). Mentoring or coaching young professionals can
support them in career development and resilience (Davidson, Elliott & Daly 2006). Mentors play
various roles in clinical settings, such as advisers and counsellors (Ali & Panther 2008). Their
support does not limit to

and provide for improvement in the school's instructional program, and professional development to
improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta–analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty

and the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals' skill in each of these dimensions
has demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.).

Professionalism: An Example Of A Professional Role Model
The definition of professionalism is "the competence or skill expected of a professional". When I
put this into my own words, I say that professionalism is the ability and know–how to act in a
professional setting. These professional settings could range from the interactions of employees in
an office to how to act at a company dinner party. Nevertheless, people should want to be perceived
and to act in a professional manner in order to gain respect and to move upwards in their careers.
Looking introspectively, I see myself as a knowledgable, but inexperienced professional. That is, I
think I understand what it takes to be a well rounded and successful professional, but haven't had
much opportunity to exercise this professionalism. That being said, I still have much to learn about
what it truly means to act as a professional. This is where a professional role model comes into play,
someone who I can look to to give me an example of how to act professionally. My professional
role model would be my father because of the respect he gives and ... Show more content on

Professionalism In Health And Social Care
Introduction
In this essay I will be discussing the nature of professionalism and how this can be contested. Next,
I will be discussing relevant legislation and theory between being a professional and
professionalism. Furthermore, I will highlight and discuss personal development and its relation to
being a childcare worker. I will support this through theory and literature in relation to my personal
experiences. Finally, I will discuss the importance of being a reflective practitioner and how this
relates to professionalism.
Nature of professionalism
Professionalism defines a range of attributes held by someone who is part of a profession; these may

By following these standards childcare workers are continually further developing knowledge and
skills. Furthermore, it encourages continual reflection on practice as it encourages childcare workers
to reflect on their self as a practitioner and identify any gaps in their knowledge. Benchmark 18 in
the standards for childhood practice (SSSC, 2015) states that "Managers/lead practitioners engage in
professional reflection for continuing improvement" this encourages practitioners to be critical of
their practice, support their own reflection and to include other users of the setting to become
involved in reflection. In my experience involving other users of the service such as parents, carers
and children in reflection may be beneficial as it allows you to take their thoughts, ideas and
experiences on board as well as your own personal reflections. Brookfield (1995) suggests that
reflection has four lenses, one of these being the student's lens. Workers should involve the
experiences of the users of the setting during reflection to develop their knowledge and skills and
gain confidence. As discussed previously it is important to reflect on practice as it encourages
childcare workers to reflect on their self as a practitioner and identify any gaps in their knowledge.
This will ensure we are continually further developing attributes of

collaboration opportunities for educators, particularly in rural area. The use of technology can break
down the barrier of distance and compensate for the lack of peers for teachers in rural district.
Researchers have found new teachers, including special education teachers can utilize various forms
and options to connect, learn, and receive support to increase their teaching skills resulting in an
increased retention rates. In Idaho local districts, the state department of education, and several
higher education institutes implemented a teacher preparatory program for special educators, which

Reflective Practice
It is common for nurses and healthcare professionals to tackle ethical issues on a regular basis
therefore, it is crucial for these professionals to be aware of the changing laws and principles that
are put in place to guide their care. The issues need to be tackled by analysing the situation they are
faced with and making adjustments to deliver high quality care. This essay will explore reflection
and its process, whilst evaluating a critical incident that has occurred on practical placement.
Reflective practice in healthcare helps us provide an effective, respectful form of care which is
maintained through the changing times making healthcare relevant and current to patients and staff.

code 2015) Within this essay identity and privacy will be respected by guaranteeing that a

Reflection can be seen within healthcare as the active process of reviewing, analysing and
evaluating experiences, drawing upon theoretical concepts or previous learning, in order to inform
future actions (Reid, 1993) Knowledgeable reflective practitioners repeatedly reflect on experiences,
continually learning for new experiences to benefit their future actions. (Schon, 1983) These ideas
are similar in thought as they both form evaluation, analysis resulting in change.
The process of reflection in health care is typically based on models of reflection which are made up
of stages of analysing the situation you are in. As said in the NMC Code (2011, pg 20) 'All nurses
must be self–aware and recognise how their own values, principles and assumptions may affect their
practice,' allowing us to develop and learn from experiences. This is supported by Paget (2000)

The Two Purposes Of Teacher Evaluation
Summarizing the Handbook The two purposes of teacher evaluation are to ensure teacher quality
and promote professional learning. In order to thoroughly address how the instruments and
protocols offered in the book support and align with the two purposes of teacher evaluation evidence
of practice must be first taken into consideration. The framework uses evidence in order to evaluate
teacher performance. According to Danielson (2008), "the term evidence is intended to convey the
conversations about teaching and must be grounded in actual events, in actions or statements in
artifacts, or in decisions a teacher has made" (p. 1). Evidence can come from formal and informal
observations, and/or the examination of artifacts. Teacher observations serve as an essential purpose
since it allows the observer to gain an understanding of the learning environment, rapport and
interaction the teacher has established inside the classroom. It also allows the observer to gather
evidence regarding student engagement and learning outcomes. Furthermore, "observation of
classroom practice with the accompanying pre–conference and post–conference, provide the best
evidence of Domains 1, 2, and 3 of the framework for teaching: Planning and Preparation, the
Classroom Environment, and Instruction" (Danielson, 2008, p. 2). However, evidence of Domain 4:

The Inspiring Education Document By Dr. Richard Moniuszko
In the "Inspiring Education Document" , a quote from Dr. Richard Moniuszko is included in the
opening lines of the report that outlines the direction that current educational practices are moving.
Moniuszko states "we need to prepare kids for their future not our past" (as cited by Pink, 2009)
which encapsulates the vision of the proposed transformation that is needed to take place in order to
prepare students to be successful members of society. According to Rosefsky, in opposition to
traditional educational practices, "the interconnectedness of the 21st century global economy,
ecosystem, and political networks require that students learn to communicate, collaborate, and
problem solve with people worldwide"(2012).
Within the Inspiring Education document, the vision for core competencies in 21st century learning
requires a "shift away from traditional dissemination of information and re–call of facts" (Alberta
Education, 2010) and instead focuses on student centered learning models of inquiry and discovery.
This shift in educational practice requires students to acquire new abilities and focus on "higher–
order thinking skills, deeper learning outcomes, and complex thinking and communication skills"
(Saavedra, 2012) and involves teachers creating appropriate instructional and assessment practices.

The goal for using this model is to increase student learning growth by improving the quality of
instructional, administrative, and supervisory practices. Assessing is a major priority in the school
system because this is the only way principals are aware of the progress their students and teachers
are producing. It is recommended that principals meet monthly with other administrators to stay up
to date on the current changes in the curriculum, instruction, and assessments. The school leadership
teams must ensure that they are choosing instructional works that have high success rates for
enhancing student achievement. If the data results from the assessment show that the majority of
students are not producing learning gains, the school's principal should sit down with the teacher to
discuss and reevaluate the lessons that are being taught. Accordingly, the state of Florida requires
students in grades 3–12 to take the FCAT 2.0. This test is used to measure the competency level of
students by grade level and is an indication of effectiveness of lessons taught. Furthermore, teachers
are not only gauged by the students' grades and administrator evaluation, but also by standardized
test like the FCAT.

Nursing : The Importance Of Professionalism In Nursing
Nursing is an occupation in which professionalism (or lack thereof) can have a significant effect on
not only patients and their health, but the nurse's relationships with colleagues, patients' families and
even their community. A nurse must exemplify professionalism, especially in an environment that
creates increased risk for loss of life or further injury. There are many aspects that are involved with
professionalism in nursing, and many expectations set up on the nurse.
Nurses develop professional skills through a process called "Professionalization." Ghadirian uses
four factors to describe this; cognitive dimension, attitudinal dimension and psychomotor
dimension. They then further describe the cognitive dimension as the "professional knowledge" a
nurse must have (2014). Without knowledge of illness or the human body, a nurse can not practice
professionally. Ghadirian then suggests that even with extensive professional knowledge, a nurse
can not be professional without the ideals and ethics of a nurse, or the ability to provide care (2014).
A nurse can not be professional without all the dimensions. A nurse must have the values of a nurse,
knowledge of a nurse and the ability to provide care.
Behaviors associated with nursing professionalism go far beyond how nurses practice in a clinical
setting. Alidina describes professionalism as "a multidimensional concept that provides nurses with
opportunities to grow personally and professionally (2013, p. 128). This shows that professionalism
has many different components. Alidina also uses "Miller's Wheel of Professionalism." This model
uses a wheel to represent different aspects of professionalism. The different behaviors that are
represented are "adherence to code for nurses, community service orientation, Professional
Organization Participation, autonomy and self–regulation, Publication and Communication,
development and use of theory and research, and continuing education and competence (2013, p.
129–130). The first spoke, "adherence to code for nurses," represents the need for nurses to follow
the rules laid out for them. These could be scope of practice, rules associated with certain
workplaces and following proper procedures. To be professional, a

Examples Of Pedagogical Model Of E-Learning

  • 1. Examples Of Pedagogical Model Of E-Learning Pedagogical Models for e–Learning 2.1 Preamble Pedagogical models constitute one of three main components in the e–learning continuum. The other two components are instructional strategies and pedagogical tools or online learning technologies. All three components work in tandem to provide the outline for a theory–based design framework to facilitate the orchestration of learning activities to deliver online learning. In simple term, the mechanism by which they function can be likened to a set of cogwheels setting in motion all activities relative to the dimension of teaching and learning and driving the dynamics triggered by a set of predetermined learning objectives to make learning possible. Pedagogical models are pre–cursors to defining instructional strategies. In turn, instructional strategies provide the directions to educators to design learning activities which are accomplished through the use of digital (learning) technologies, encompassing both asynchronous and synchronous communication tools to orchestrate e–learning. 2.2 Pedagogical Models for E– learning Many pedagogical models have been linked e–learning. During the course of this essay, I shall attempt to identify what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I may conclude, both open learning and distributed learning are very much identical in essence, but as to how and why educators have presented both models as separate entities, is somewhat baffling. Just like open learning, distributed learning transcends the limitations of time and place, regardless of distance, for learners to undertake learning at their convenience, be it in the comfort of their home or at work. Contact with course facilitators is established through the use of both the asynchronous and synchronous modes, such as e–mails, student forums, online discussions, webinars and other forms of computer–assisted digital ... • 2. Principles of Professional Practice Essay Hollie Cooper 10079944 Principles of Professional Practice NMC Report Introduction For this report I have been asked to compare and contrast the principles of regulations of two care professions. I have decided to choose Nursing and Social Work because I am currently training to be a nurse and I would like to see the difference between Nursing and Social Work education, training and codes of conduct as this is a field I don't know much about. NMC– Nursing & Midwifery Council Follows– The Code: Standards of conduct, performance and ethics for nurses and midwives SSSC– Scottish Social Services Council Follows– Codes of Practice for Social Service Workers and Employers SSSC has a code for both employers and workers. I am ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Continuing Professional Development Both these professions expect the same high standards when it comes to education and training. Nursing and Social Work both have requirements for continued professional development and lifelong learning. It is essential that Nurses and Social workers keep a record of their training throughout their careers. To be able to remain working and practicing as a nurse or a midwife you must keep your skills and knowledge up to date through lifelong learning. This requires that nurses complete 450 hours of registered practice along with 35 hours of learning activities every three years along with the annual fee of £100. Medicines, treatments and equipment are continuously changing so it's important that nurses keep up to date to ensure that patients are getting the best available care. "You must take part in appropriate learning and practice activities that maintain and develop you competence and performance" (NMC, 2008 p6). Social Worker's must undertake "relevant training to maintain and improve your knowledge and skills and contributing to the learning and development of others" (SSSC, 2009 section 6.8). The requirement of continued learning is fifteen days which can consist of courses, reading ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I. Specific Aims (1–page limit) The overall goal of this project is to analyze perceptual changes in students using self–reported qualitative measures and survey tools that focus on empathy and competencies for working within an interprofessional team during a semester long, experiential–learning elective course that engages students within a pediatric, inter–professional, community–based event. Experiential–learning creates a practice–based opportunity for students to apply knowledge gained from a traditional didactic classroom. (Richards, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Schreiber) In a recent Special Communication article in Pediatric Physical Therapy, Schreiber et al, recommended the use of pediatric based experiential–learning opportunities as a mechanism in achieving the five essential core competencies during pediatric physical therapy education. (Schreiber) The authors also highlighted the positive outcomes experienced by students who participated in service learning activities, including having a greater understanding of the patient's environment as well as improved problem–solving and clinical skills. (Schreiber) While engaging with children attending Sensory Friendly Time (SFT), students will be provided a practice–based opportunity to work, hands–on with the child as well as interacting with students from other disciplines. • 4. Reflection On Quality And Safety QUALITY AND SAFETY: REFLECTION. QUALITY AND SAFETY: DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL DEFINITION. The WGU nursing program helped me in developing my professional definition of quality and safety by enlightening my understanding of root cause analysis, and system failures. The IHI course was an eye opener in my understanding of quality improvement, and the processes required to enhance safety and quality improvement. The courses that really assisted me in my definition include, the Organizational Systems and Quality Leadership, the Leadership and Professional Image, and Professional Roles and Values; and the Evidence–Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research. QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACT SUPPORT. My papers from the leadership learning experience task, and organizational systems and quality leadership task 2 are some of the artifacts that I have included in this portfolio to support my definition of quality and safety. QUALITY AND SAFETY: ARTIFACTS SUPPORTING DEFINITION. My paper from leadership learning experience task, supports my definition of safety and quality by demonstrating how I proposed project that would enhance the safety and quality of my clients who were at risk of developing pressure ulcers. On the other hand, my paper from the organizational systems and quality leadership task 2 support my definition of safety and quality by demonstrating my capacity to coordinate root cause analysis, and designing projects that would enhance safety and quality by correctly identified system failures. QUALITY AND SAFETY: IMPORTANCE OF IHI CERTIFICATE. My Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) certificate is an artifact that supports my capacity in safety and quality improvement in healthcare. This course enlightened on my role as nurses in enhancing safety and quality in my workplace. I have already proposed the need in including staff nurses in the quality improvement committee to my employer. I believe I will be among the staff nurses who will be sitting in the committee, and I am going to take the role of an informal leader and a change agent in that committee. As an informal leader and a change agent, I will devote my energy in refocusing the thinking of my colleagues, so that they are able to visualize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Importance Of Professional Development Engaging teachers in a learning community, fosters professional growth by developing relationships among peers (Schramm, 2006). Learning communities provide professional development that is implemented to improve the learning of students and professionalism of teachers. Teachers within learning communities are organized in order to collaborate on addressing goals that are aligned with expected school and district outcomes. Effective leadership is a key factor in effective implementation of professional development within a school (Schramm, 2006). In order to maximize the benefits of professional development opportunities, school leaders need to provide staff development that is focused on improving the learning of students. Focused professional development requires skillful school leaders who are knowledgeable and capable of guiding teachers and the school in continuous instructional improvement. Providing teachers with access to resources that support the strategies learned during professional development is imperative for effective implementation (Schramm, 2006). Increasing teacher exposure to educational resources, benefits both the teacher and the student. • 7. Reflective Essay On Professionalism Professionalism can be defined as "the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person."(Merriam–webster) My interpretation of this definition is that professionalism is a standard that we must hold ourselves accountable to in order to provide the best service. How do we get from a basic understanding of this definition, to practicing and applying professionalism? Major attributes that lead to professionalism can include accountability, communication and reflective practice. Reflective practice in the healthcare system is when "practitioners engage in a continuous cycle of self–observation and self evaluation in order to understand their own actions and the reactions they prompt in themselves" (becoming a better university teacher...). In the day–to–day life, everyone performs a type of reflection whether it is by unconscious thought or by habit. When it is unintentional it is hard to learn and grow from the knowledge that can potentially be gained. Therefore we need to find a way to effectively incorporate reflective practice into our daily lives, especially as radiation therapy students. There is a simple three–step framework for practical, structured reflection by Dr. Natius Oelofsen that really stood out to me. Reflective practice should not be complicated or time consuming or else it will not be done efficiently or effectively. We need reflective practice to become habit during our school years in order for it to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, it presents a review of brief history, importance and the core features of teacher professional development. Second, it presents main stages and primary models of teacher professional development. Third, it presents the role of principal leadership in a teacher's professional growth. Fourth, it presents a review of some cases of successful and unsuccessful teacher professional development programs of American public schools, and some reasons for failure of professional development programs. Finally, it presents the basic concepts and principles of National Staff Development Council's professional development framework and its importance and application in teacher professional development process. History, Importance, and Main Features Brief History of Teacher Professional Development The educational reform movement in the United States has set ambitious goals and many factors contribute to accomplish them. However, many researchers accept the fact that improvement in the teachers' instructional beliefs and practices lead to academic improvement (Birman at el., 2000; Cuban, 2009; Garet et al, 2000; Glickman, 2002). Furthermore, student outcomes mostly rely on teachers and their teaching (Haycock, 1998). • 9. Improving Quality And Standards Of Health Services A recent study, by Baur, Fehr, Mayer, Pawlu & Schaudel (2011) concluded that the growing demand in health sector, resulted in rapid change in patients' expectations. As a result, meeting patients' expectations, while maintaining standards and quality of healthcare service has been the crucial part in health sector. However, maintaining the service standards does not only refer to increasing the number of health professionals. Providing optimal care service to the patient, also contributes hugely in improving quality and standards of health service. However, as mentioned by the Society and College of Radiographers (2014, a), the importance of undertaking CPD is not just about maintaining registration with the regulatory body. CPD ensures that the knowledge and skill of health professionals are up–to–date and relevant, it ensures continue competence and monitors personal and professional effectiveness (Giri et al., 2012). In a journal, by Shlom (2014), she stated, "The CPD model is cyclical and involves 4 phases: reflect, plan, learn, and evaluate." Monitoring and recording activities, undertaken by health professionals as a part of CPD, serves as a tool for reflection and self–evaluation. It also gives them chance to evaluate the outcomes of their activities, learn from their mistakes/success and plan for the future from their experiences. Furthermore, by following ... Beginning of each school year is somewhat hectic in terms of discipline incidents that affects new teacher performances as well as the relationship between teachers and school administration. New teachers are usually called to the principal office to talk about the classroom management issues that demoralize them and affect their motivation. Effective classroom management allows teachers to engage their students in learning; therefore, it is a vital element of teaching effectively. Evidence of Learner–Centered Principles Michael Fullan stated (1999), "School improvement happens when a school develops a professional learning community that focuses on student work and changes teaching. In order to do that, you need certain kinds of skills, capacities, and relationships". I believe that a professional development should have the features of learner–centered principals in order to improve their teacher. One of the fundamental building blocks of developing effective professional practice is the personal and professional values held by ECEs. According to Newman and Pollnitz (2005), it is important from the onset for ECEs to understand the ethical implications of their work and subsequently agree on underpinning principles or values which would form the basis of their code of ethics. These ethical values and principles are what guide professionals in making decisions, choices or ethical judgments over what course of action to take or to avoid in their profession. These professional values are also expressed in various documents, systems and quality standards for ECEs to guide professional development. The Importance Of Professional Development Professional Development is a necessary component in the world of education, offering new methods and strategies to the teacher for use in their classrooms. As said in the NMC Code (2011, pg 20) 'All nurses must be self–aware and recognise how their own values, principles and assumptions may affect their practice,' allowing us to develop and learn from experiences. This is supported by Paget (2000) research which understands the benefits of reflection on clinical practice in a positive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Two Purposes Of Teacher Evaluation Summarizing the Handbook The two purposes of teacher evaluation are to ensure teacher quality and promote professional learning. In order to thoroughly address how the instruments and protocols offered in the book support and align with the two purposes of teacher evaluation evidence of practice must be first taken into consideration. The framework uses evidence in order to evaluate teacher performance. According to Danielson (2008), "the term evidence is intended to convey the conversations about teaching and must be grounded in actual events, in actions or statements in artifacts, or in decisions a teacher has made" (p. 1). Evidence can come from formal and informal observations, and/or the examination of artifacts. Teacher observations serve as an essential purpose since it allows the observer to gain an understanding of the learning environment, rapport and interaction the teacher has established inside the classroom. It also allows the observer to gather evidence regarding student engagement and learning outcomes. Furthermore, "observation of classroom practice with the accompanying pre–conference and post–conference, provide the best evidence of Domains 1, 2, and 3 of the framework for teaching: Planning and Preparation, the Classroom Environment, and Instruction" (Danielson, 2008, p. 2). However, evidence of Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities demonstrate skills of maintaining student records, actively communicating with families, and continuous ... The Inspiring Education Document By Dr. Richard Moniuszko In the "Inspiring Education Document" , a quote from Dr. Richard Moniuszko is included in the opening lines of the report that outlines the direction that current educational practices are moving. Moniuszko states "we need to prepare kids for their future not our past" (as cited by Pink, 2009) which encapsulates the vision of the proposed transformation that is needed to take place in order to prepare students to be successful members of society. According to Rosefsky, in opposition to traditional educational practices, "the interconnectedness of the 21st century global economy, ecosystem, and political networks require that students learn to communicate, collaborate, and problem solve with people worldwide"(2012). Within the Inspiring Education document, the vision for core competencies in 21st century learning requires a "shift away from traditional dissemination of information and re–call of facts" (Alberta Education, 2010) and instead focuses on student centered learning models of inquiry and discovery. This shift in educational practice requires students to acquire new abilities and focus on "higher– order thinking skills, deeper learning outcomes, and complex thinking and communication skills" (Saavedra, 2012) and involves teachers creating appropriate instructional and assessment practices. Effects of Globalization on 21st Century Education Ustun defines Globalization as " the unification of the world politically, economically, socially and culturally with many ... Daniel Friesen stated that she was in a situation where her professional expertise was undermined which negatively impacted patient care, a situation that could have been avoided with mutual and professional respect between HCPs4. As well, in a recent study conducted by McMaster University, students in medical school and the physiotherapy program were asked to engage in a 10 week study with 3 hour sessions of academic IPE including presentations on scope, case studies, and dissections with one another1. As a result, students had gained positive insight into the scopes of other disciplines that helped them better understand and respect the HCP's role in patient care1. This study showed a decrease in professional bias and increase in learning and interaction with other students1,2,3. Academic IPE has shown to increase health care team performance because participants show greater understanding of other professional scopes, strengths, and skills that results in an effective team2,3. • 41. Nursing : The Importance Of Professionalism In Nursing Nursing is an occupation in which professionalism (or lack thereof) can have a significant effect on not only patients and their health, but the nurse's relationships with colleagues, patients' families and even their community. A nurse must exemplify professionalism, especially in an environment that creates increased risk for loss of life or further injury. There are many aspects that are involved with professionalism in nursing, and many expectations set up on the nurse. Nurses develop professional skills through a process called "Professionalization." Ghadirian uses four factors to describe this; cognitive dimension, attitudinal dimension and psychomotor dimension. They then further describe the cognitive dimension as the "professional knowledge" a nurse must have (2014). Without knowledge of illness or the human body, a nurse can not practice professionally. Ghadirian then suggests that even with extensive professional knowledge, a nurse can not be professional without the ideals and ethics of a nurse, or the ability to provide care (2014). A nurse can not be professional without all the dimensions. A nurse must have the values of a nurse, knowledge of a nurse and the ability to provide care. Behaviors associated with nursing professionalism go far beyond how nurses practice in a clinical setting. Alidina describes professionalism as "a multidimensional concept that provides nurses with opportunities to grow personally and professionally (2013, p. 128). This shows that professionalism has many different components. Alidina also uses "Miller's Wheel of Professionalism." This model uses a wheel to represent different aspects of professionalism. The different behaviors that are represented are "adherence to code for nurses, community service orientation, Professional Organization Participation, autonomy and self–regulation, Publication and Communication, development and use of theory and research, and continuing education and competence (2013, p. 129–130). The first spoke, "adherence to code for nurses," represents the need for nurses to follow the rules laid out for them. These could be scope of practice, rules associated with certain workplaces and following proper procedures. To be professional, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
