I Saw This On Facebook. It Was Getting A Lot Of в
Ђ Likes’
I saw this on facebook. It was getting a lot of 'likes' and actually, I liked it too. Very few would disagree with the saying. It says:
"Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the one's who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do
anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what."
~Unknown
All of us are blessed with friends who are like family members. Sometimes, we are so attached to each other, it seems they are a part of our family,
born somewhere else. There are instances when friends have so much in common, we wonder, "do they really hail from some other family?"

Often, however, families are not the truly loving and supportive havens they are meant to be. Often parents are detrimental to growth of their children.
They have limitations that pass on to their children, infusing insecurities, fears, angers and dysfunctions in them. Most parents want to be loving and
supportive, but they don't understand themselves well enough to do so. Some confuse being overly permissive with love. Others confuse being overly
strict with love. The bottom line is that they are not truly loved and supported by their parents and don't learn to truly love and support themselves.
Friendship helps people truly find themselves. Friends are necessary for our emotional and social wellbeing throughout life.
Friends represent the family you choose. Not only are friends the family you choose, but they can also be a much more healthy family than the one
you were born into. If you have managed to separate from a family that is unsupportive or even toxic, you may be able to form friendships that are
psychologically healthier. These friends will accept you for who you are, not for who they want you to be.
Those people who manage to go through this transitional phase can choose loving and supportive friends. By friends, I include loved ones, for loved
ones are first and foremost friends.
In addition, one's circle of friend may serve as an extended family. The more loving and supportive

My Love Life
Hi, I'm Margaret. I'm 15 years old and I love nature. How did I come to love nature, you might ask? Well, let me tell you. As an infant, I grew up
differently from other kids. Most of it was due to the complications I had at birth. The day after I was born, I was flown in a helicopter to another
hospital to be operated on. While my dad was able to drive to where I was, it didn't make sense for my mom wasn't as quite able to leave
immediately. After all, she just had me. Nevertheless, she refused to lie in that hospital bed while I was in an operation room 50 miles away. And
so, just as you probably expected, she ignored all the doctors and came straight to the hospital where I was. As these events unfolded, my two older
sisters had to go with strangers they had never met. After many surgeries, it would seem that I was almost back to normal. However, the surgeries
were only half of the problems I had as an infant. A few weeks after these events, I started to have colic. For those who don't know, colic is a very
painful intestinal condition that is commonly found in young babies. For months, I would cry for hours on end. My parents just couldn't figure out
how to make me happy again. All of this changed, however, when one day my dad took me outside. Within a few minutes, my tomato red face faded,
and my crying ceased. I was content once more! And from that day forward, that peace in nature has tagged along with me and remains to this day. No
matter what day of the year, if you

Six Pills: A Short Story
I opened the pills. It was one of those pill bottle things that you need to push hard and twist. The pills were red and white. I got a handful of them. I
took a gulp to clear my throat. The clear cup of water was next to me. I looked in the mirror and I was thinking. Should I really do this? Am I going to
let go of my life? At the age of 15? Here we go.....*sighs*
Age 12. I was a happy girl until I found out my dad only had less than a year to live, due to cancer. I did everything with him. He taught me how to
live life and taught me things. How to ride a bike without training wheels, how to cook ramen noodles, and how to read a book. My mom always works.
So I barely see her. She tells me goodnight and after that I sleep. I wake up and I don't ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She's on the the ground pounding the floor. Screaming at everyone saying it was everyone's fault of my dad's death.
*The next day* My mom was in her room. At 2:00 in the afternoon. I could hear her sobbing and crying. I was just in my room on my laptop looking
pictures of our family. I was really hungry. I went downstairs and made ramen, for me and mom. I went back upstairs and knocked on my moms door.
"Mom, do you want some ramen, I cooked some food for you."
"NO, DO YOU SEE ME? I'M TRYING TO REST AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING! GET OUT OF MY LIFE"
I was in shock of the word that came out of my mom's mouth. I went back into my room and ate my ramen noodles. Slowly, just staring at the wall.
It was 5:00 in the afternoon. Our house was a complete mess. Clothes everywhere, food, And just everything around the house. To be honest I don't
even know how all these stuff get in here. For the past few days my mom was just in her room sobbing, having my dad's clothes on her bed smelling
them. I was scared to walk in the room because I know she would yell at me and scream these horrible things that I know she don't mean. I took a
deep breath. *opens the creaky door, while

You Do Know What I 'm Talking About
"You do know what I'm talking about," Charlie whispered and shrunk down slightly in the water. "I don't," Scarlett mumbled so low that he couldn't
even hear her. Charlie sat up and looked at her for a moment before scooting close to her so that he was right next to her. She was still sitting
cross–legged so he didn't get very close. She wasn't looking at him, but instead was staring into space. "Hey," Charlie whispered. When Scarlett
didn't respond, he turned her shoulders so that she was looking at him. "Stop shutting yourself off," Charlie said and pulled her lightly onto his
lap. "I don't shut myself off, Charlie. I just get... nervous," Scarlett mumbled and broke her gaze. She felt awkward with him right now. She
couldn't quite figure out why, but his presence felt different from before. "And then when you get nervous, you shut out the people who love you,"
Charlie finished with a snide look on his face. "The people that love me......." Scarlett whispered. "Yes Scarlett. You know, you really scared me
today. I...... I thought I'd lost you." Charlie whispered and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I'm sorry." She mumbled into the water. "I'm not
asking you to apologize, babe. I just want you to know that I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you. You mean a lot to me." Charlie
pulled Scarlett tight against his chest and kissed her forehead. *Knock Knock* "Is that the door?" Scarlett asked. "Yeah I think so," Charlie sighed.
"I'll get it," Scarlett stood and

First Born Syndrome Research Paper
I suffer from First Born Syndrome. It is my place in the birth order that has influenced my actions and sent me on my journey toward a career that
maybe, just maybe, I am born to do.
I was born and raised in Lapeer, Michigan, the "bedroom community." All that means is the GM jobs were in Lake Orion, Pontiac, and Detroit and
the people of Lapeer (the men) car pooled every day two hours to The Shop. It was assumed that you would grow up, graduate and go to work at The
Shop. But in my house our parents talked of little else except going to college, becoming doctors or scientists . This is strange to think about knowing
that no one in my family, on either side, had ever gone to college. But this thinking is etched in my memory as far back as I can go––I was going to go
to college. It is first born bossiness that landed me in the role of teacher.
I preface this as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I created over twenty unique characters, all with possible motives. I created the invitations with the story and character information. I created the clues
and the confession. I did this in conjunction with school work and my part time job and I did it not once, but twice. They were the talk of campus.
Who does something like that? Oh, that's me the first born.
This is not a traditional educational background essay, but it is important to my "place". I have always been the bossy leader.
There isn't a day in my classroom where I can put down the leader hat, there would be nothing but chaos. I have to be organized with the plan, I
need to corral students as I did my family and friends. Without my command of the room and agenda the kids would be lost. When a sub is in my
room, despite all the detailed instructions, my students feel lost. They are very happy to have the leader back to let them know what to do.
Expectation surrounds me. My mom said it best, "Looking back it all makes sense. You were born to be a

Rhetorical Analysis : My Life
Until I started this rhetorical analysis paper I wasn't aware that the things I display in my room say things about me. I never thought about how
they make me look as a person or what my audience would assume about me based on these items. When I started analyzing, all these questions
started popping up. I was finally able to step back and see myself how others might see me. When asked by my teacher to pick 3 items that describe
myself from my bedroom I didn't have any trouble picking them out. When it came down to it, I 'd always choose the same 3 items: A wall of family
pictures, a Pride flag and a mirror with notes and pictures all over it.
The first Item I chose from my bedroom was a wall of pictures displayed to the left of my closet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My flag is 5 ft. by 4 ft. and made of very thin material. From top to bottom the colors go from red–purple in the same order as a rainbow. I got my flag
when I went to my first Pride Festival in 2016. Since then I 've used it for some of my favorite senior photos! My absolute favorite senior photo is one
of me in a blue Lexington Wildcats T–shirt and jeans and I 'm laying on top of my Pride flag with my head propped up on my hand. Now my flag
hangs proudly above my TV until its time for my next Pride Festival. This flag is very important to me because I want my audience to know how
far I 've come and how comfortable I am with who I am and what my sexual orientation is. I came out to the majority of my family and friends in
2015 around fall time. I went through a lot of stages where I felt bad about myself and who I was but through the support of my family and friends I
was finally able to become comfortable with who I am. So to show this, I leave my flag hanging as a reminder that I 'm perfect just the way I am!
The audience of this is also my friends, family, and even those in the LGBT community. I 'm lucky to have friends and family who are as supportive
as anyone can be, so it makes them very happy to see my flag hanging when they come into my room. I would say that I 'm using both ethos and pathos
in this, I 'm using pathos because my flag hanging evokes my audience to feel happy for me and how far I 've come since 2015. I also would say ethos,
ethos is

The Beach Boys Research Paper
For a person to go a day without hearing music is a rare occurrence. Music is found on the radio, in videos, and in advertisements. Music, being found
in every person's life every single day, it is continually changing–– to some for the better, while to others' opinions, the worse. Music lacking originality
will not stand the test of time. Nowadays, music is found on everywhere: on applications like iTunes and Spotify, as well as on CD; but, fifty years
ago, vinyl and singles were the only way to listen to music other than the radio. Albums on vinyl records are seven inches around, and are produced
after musicians record a song by putting a layer of lacquer together. Musical notes are produced by a needle scratching that lacquer, depending... Show

The American cover displays two men shaking hands, with the man on the right on fire. NME Magazine speaks of the cover art's meaning: "Designer
Storm Thorgerson says, 'The theme for this album was absence. We couldn't do a blank cover asThe Beatles had already done it with 'The White

Descriptive Essay
I was waddling around in my playpen like any happy four–year–old would. Picking up and grabbing random toys and hurling them as hard my my
chubby arm could. I looked at my brother with the biggest grin I could muster, as we heard my mother's off–pitch voice, singing our favorite Disney
songs to us, currently one from Sleeping Beauty, much to my brother's dismay. It was the best day I can remember. Mymother finished up with the
song, and I thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. I didn't know at the time that my mother is actually tone–deaf.
"Again, again, again!" I wailed.
I would never tire of that song, but everyone else certainly did. Even now she'll randomly start humming the tune like she did for me so many times
before. She just smiled at me and went back into the song. I stuck my tongue out at my brother and giggled. She was washing the dishes, a clean, and
light scent that I would always breath in deeply. It was one of my favorite smell, and to this day, I always think of this when I smell the soap.
My mom came through the kitchen with a big smile on her young, pretty face.
"Daddy's coming home soon" she crooned, scooping me out of the play pin.
I, being the elegant four–year–old, smiled and looked her straight in the eye as I drooled all over. I thought it was the funniest thing ever. It was after
she made a face of love and slight disgust, that I heard the door knob start to turn. I looked over my mom's shoulder and saw my Dad in the doorway. He

Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars
That's the thing about pain. It demands to be felt. In Indianapolis, poor Hazel Grace Lancaster has to go through that every day. Hazel has Thyroid
cancer and it affects her everyday life. However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the author of The
Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book,
Hazel and Gus show that sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no words needing to be said.
For example, Gus and Hazel's conversation on the phone after their first date. In the text it states "Okay," he said. "I gotta go to sleep. It's almost
one." "Okay," I said. "Okay," he said. I giggled and said, "Okay." And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was there in my room
with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third
space that could only be visited on the phone. "Okay," he said after forever. "Maybe okay will be our always." "Okay," I said."(Green 72
–73) As
mentioned previously, you don't have to have conversations to be there for someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when
there are no words needing to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are sincere and ready to talk
to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is
what happened... "As I knelt, I realized they'd closed his eyes –of course they had– and that I would never again see his blue eyes. "I love you present
tense," I whispered and then put my hand in the middle of his chest and said, "It's okay, Gus.It's okay. It is. It's okay, you hear me?" I had–and have–
absolutely no confidence that he could hear me. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Okay," I said. "Okay." (Green 270) This piece of text shows
that even when Gus was lifeless, she was still there for him by saying "Okay".Although she was in great distress, she stood with courage. By saying
"Okay." she, in a

I Must Cherish The Time With Your Family : A Short Story
I believe you must cherish the time with your family! (1)
I woke up and it was a new day, where everything was normal, but it wasn't, my brother wasn't there. Over the years I grew up with my brothers and
two dogs which one looked like a fatten up sausage ready to be eaten. I learned to love and live with them. They were my best friends and I spent
most of my days with them. Playing history games or other similar games which they were a massive part of my life. One day that all stopped when
the wind died down all was left was me and my final brother. (2)
I am seven years old now and out of all those seven years I lived with both of my brothers. My brothers included Avi and Daniel. Avi was the brother
who made gaming fun with his strategic deployments. As for Daniel he would ruin Avi'sruins and Avi would exclaimed, " No, what Angelo you ruined
our chance." As you can tell from that statement I wasn't that bright with my strategic placements. We would play till the morning dawn when the
sunlight would burn your face and you are being cooked in the sizzling metal seat. (3)
When I was young everything was nice I had not to be worried to be organized and time to do my homework. We didn't have any worries just me
and my brothers. Well until the first one went to college. His name was Avi, though his real name was Alvaro. We all look like clones of each other
which came from different timelines. The first few days I didn't realize he was gone because I was young and everything was new. (4)
One day Avi told me, ВЁI gotta go now.ВЁ I started seeing him less and less. Now, I only had Daniel, of course he stilled loved me, but I felt a piece
of my heart was gone. Every weekend Avi would come again and again. (5)
I didn't understand the concept of college I thought it was a playground where people play with other people. Where everything was hunky–dory like
how I was now. Sometimes, Avi took us to places which were of amazement with me. With buildings that touched the sky and made me feel like an
ant, so inconsiderately small to the building. The people just walked by like wind blowing in the breeze. Nothing mattered only me and my brothers. (6)
Suddenly, there was many events, more than usual all at once. By the end

Growing Up Research Paper
Growing up in Theresa was an experience that will live with me until the day I die. Theresa is a town with a population of roughly 2,000 people
and it is very rural. Theresa is a blue collar community where everyone works hard and everyone plays hard. I saw this 24/7 at home. It was a small
town. Everyone knew what was going on with everything in the town. The town of Theresa was basically one giant family. I went to school their from
Kindergarten through 4th grade. The school was three blocks from my house and I would walk to school and back every single day. I usually had
people who would walk with me. Some of those people I am still friends with to this very day. This was were I got my very first taste of school and
first taste of friendship. One friend that I have made in Theresa is standing up in my wedding in July. Growing up their was a blessing for so many
reasons. Probably for reasons I may realize later in life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Downtown there is the local shell gas station. It is a fairly dated gas station, but they make due with what they have. There is a sandwich shop

parks in town and one of them was one block away from my house. I once fell off the slide at this park and was sent to the emergency room. I
stayed away from that park for a while after that. The park was a hot spot for kids of all ages. This park was right next to the public school that I
attended until 4th grade. My house was also right off a river that leads right into the Mississippi. The river is a great place to fish and kayak. I caught
many fish in the river, usually alongside my dad and my sister. The town dump was sometimes a fun place to go. People would bring things that they
no longer used or needed there. People would go and search through the stuff and bring home was they

Brian turned his stare to Mr. Smith and voiced his displeasure. "Maybe I was not understood, Tim... I want Ms. Loran to accompany Mr. Johnson and

With a very uncharacteristic response Mr. Smith responded, "Mr. Ross, if that is your desire, we can, without doubt, make the necessary

My Experience In My Life
I remember my parents calling me up an hour before midnight telling me that they would be coming home late from work. That was how I grew
up my entire life until I entered high school. As an immigrant family, my parents had to run the extra mile to provide for our family. I was the
oldest of my family. Therefore, I had to step up as the mother figure and to take care of my younger brother. Sometimes, my friends would ask me
to hang out with them or to come over my house. My answer was no most of the time. I had a younger brother in the house who needed my help
with his homework. He couldn't feed himself so I had to feed him. I remember putting him to sleep one night and just asking myself why I had to do
this. I wanted to hang out with my friends and act like a child that I was. I was an eleven–year–old who had to grow up because of the circumstances.
And I did not like that. As time passed by, my parents were settling in to this new surrounding and they began to take some of their time off from
work to spend time with me and my brother. Even then, there were times where I had to take care of my brother because he couldn't be home alone.
But I remember this one moment that I shared with my brother. It was June, 2014, and my 8th grade graduation was approaching. Going into my
freshman year of high school, I was intimidated and so overwhelmed with all the responsibilities that I had to take on. I sat down on my bed,

Dramatic Change
Being separated from my one and only sibling made my heart crackle and shatter into small pieces. Younger or older siblings just seem to always

around here and there but, when you are together all the time it is more fight. A dramatic change happened and my brother decided to leave and
of course I put up a strong front because it was not going to affect me in any way. It was a long journey across several stats and a year before it

Beach Boys Research Paper
Known for their sleek guitar sounds, and captivating harmonies, the group labeled the Beach Boys, dominated the up and coming surf culture of
the early 60s. The Beach Boys are a famous boy band, formed straight out of Hawthorne, California, a surfer's paradise. Parents Murray and Audree
Wilson, raised their three sons, Brian, Carter, and Dennis, to be largely influenced by sports as well as music. Growing up with a songwriter as a
father, the children came together and began playing around with various melodies. Eventually, Cousin Mike Love, and good friend Al Jardine joined
what grew into a legendary boy band, remembered centuries later (Kemp, Rolling Stone). During a weekend of 1961, the boys got together while their

My First Obsession Is Life
I have 10 obsessions in life. I'm not sure if they will ever go away. But life would be no fun without any obsessions.
My first obsession is life. I love life and what you can do with it. I love the way people laugh at a joke or become afraid when watching a scary movie.
It amazes me how children feel most safe in their parents arms. And how you learn so much from how other people before you had lived their life. I
think this one of my obsessions because life can be taken away in a blink of an eye. You never know when your time is up. So enjoying every second
in my eyes is how you 'll have the best life possible. My second obsession is family. I have always loved how families looked in a magazine or on TV.
I love that parents will do anything to make sure their children are loved and safe. And that families do things together and love each other no
matter what. Parents that play outside with the kids and go to games and concerts. When a child gets hurt, there is a parent there to pick them up.
I think this is one of my obsessions because my mom had me taken away when I was really young. I don 't ever remember her ever picking me up
when I fell down or tucking me in at night and kissing me on the forehead. For a while it was my grandma who did all this but then she got sick,
and I had to live with a family friend, and this is where I still live now. I have always wanted to know what it felt like to have a happy family. A
family that comes to your games because they

Did The Beatles And The Beach Boys Influence Each Other?
The Two Life Changing Bands
Did the Beatles and The Beach Boys influence each other? To begin with, I did not know much about the Beatles and all I knew about The Beach
Boys was that my dad was a fan and that their songs to me were always up beat and groovy. After hearing a song in a movie, I instantly knew it was
the famous Beach Boys, or so I thought... So, did the two nifty bands influence each other? After all, I couldn't even distinguish the difference between
them. A problem that could have arose from the two bands is one being considered a "copycat." The people involved with my question mainly revolved
around Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. Brian Wilson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer and who co
–founded The
Beach Boys. Paul McCartney is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and composer and who gained his worldwide fame as the bass guitarist and
singer for the Beatles. From the multiple sources I have found, they have all came up with the same conclusion, the two bands were influenced by each
other and all of the sources agree they were influenced by new released albums.
My first source is "Brian Wilson on the Beach Boys' 'Rivalry' with the Beatles and Flying Solo." The author of this article is Jeff Slate, it is a web
based article published by Daily Beast on April 4th, 2015. I choose this source because it gives me insight on what albums influenced the others and the
so–called "rivalry" between Wilson and McCartney. Some

The Seven Stages Of Soft System Methodology
1.4.1.Definition
CATWOE is a systemic approach for tackling real–word problematic situations and part of the Soft System Methodology. The analysis can be
presented as a checklist for thinking and can be used to identify the achievement that the business is trying to achieve, the problem areas and the effect
of the solution for business and people involved in.
CATWOE is used during the seven stages of Soft SystemMethodology, in order to understand the impact of the problem and its solutions on business
and interested persons. The seven stages of SSM is used and toady because the process is easily teachable and has a real time connection between Real
World and system thinking.
CATWOE is a checklist with six elements:

Historical Development of the CATWOE analysis
SSM was developed from 1966 by a team of academics from the University of Lancaster led by prof. Gwilym Jenkins, and resulted from their attempts
to tackle management problem situations using a systems engineering approach. But the method has received fame and recognition only after the work
of Prof. Peter Checkland in 1969.
CATWOE appears as a checklist for problem or target definition in P. Checkland's and J. Scholes book "
Soft Systems Methodology in Action" from
1990. In their next publications this methodology was developed with next elements and concentration on the efficiency of the tool.
CATWOE has a highly diverse description and is used to any kind of unstructured "soft" problem in any organizational or social context. CATWOE
was used in Educational field in the beginning. Prof. G. Jenkins used this methodology in University of Lancaster during the research period and after
the publication, other universities started to use SSM methods for problem solving. The main plus of this method was the multi–interest presence,
every solution was studied from the perspective of students, professors and other interested

"Speaking of drunk, I have wine in my room. Shall we indulge? I've never seen you have more than a few sips, Maxen."
He propped himself up on his elbows and kissed her. "I will drink. Let me dress and fetch the bottle."
He hopped out of bed, and Audra admired his magnificent, muscular backside with a satisfied smile on her face and he slipped into his trousers, but
the spotted a smear of blood on his lower arm.
"Maxen, you're still bleeding."
"Nothing to worry about." He dragged his tunic over his head and glanced over his shoulder at her. "But oh..."
"What?"
"I've gotten my blood all over that pretty face of yours."
Maxen sat on the bed beside Audra, licked his thumb, and scrubbed the dried blood from her face. Then he leaned down and kissed her.
"I don't want to stop kissing you or touching you," he said.
"I think we can break for refreshment."
He let out a playful growl. "I don't want to, but I will."
After giving Audra another long kiss, he rose and padded from the room, and Audra stretched out in the bed. She was relaxed and inlove, and she
pushed away any feelings of guilt. Those could be managed later. During this week, Maxen would be the husband of her heart, and if the gods saw fit
to strike her down for her transgressions, it would all be worth it.
Maxen's quiet footsteps padded back to the room; however, an unfamiliar voice spoke just outside the chamber door.
"Sir Knight, would you and the queen care to share in the festivities downstairs? You are most welcome."

My Experience In My Life
The Essay Recently I found myself without a reason to live anymore. I'm not sure when it all started, but four months ago in the room of a hotel, I
found myself sitting in a desk, writing a suicidal letter. I didn't really want to end my life, I simply wanted to get rid of this pain. It was more of an
agony what I was dealing with. I had no dreams. I had no ambitions. And I knew that what I was about to do was going to hurt. My future shrank
down to this day, these last couple of hours in this hotel room in the middle of nowhere. At this point I didn't really care, I was living a life that
didn't even belong to me anymore. That day, that week, that month, I felt reluctant even to ponder if there was another way out. Nothing made
sense. I felt furious, never had I ever been so angry with life before. At that moment, I had more questions than answers. My life was a book coming
to an end. ...I broke like never before. Wounds had reopened, pieces of my heart had gone missing and the sun raised for everyone else but me. The
dark hole where I was living had no communication access with the world or myself. I felt persecuted by feelings that I'd never felt before – I felt
empty on the inside. It all felt like I had entered a cardiac arrest a long time ago and no one had done anything to save me... not even my dearest
friend, my deepest love В– the man whom I loved so much. Clouds full of tears, a heart full of thorns and a life full of devastations was all I was

Plus, we were so excited to surf that we didn't think much of it. The Dingees played through the speakers, a nineties ska band that my dad loved.

The sun beamed through the clouds and down on the city as we drove over the thirty–fourth street bridge, and made its way into our eyes forcing us to

My favorite kind of days were Daddy and Kate kind of days, especially the ones like these. The days when we woke up early to go surfing with hot

our cardboard cups, and giggled with each other at stupid stuff on the way. There was always something to laugh at when I was with him, whether it
was a silly dad–joke or a game he had made up. This time, we were making up phrases after the letters on the license plates of whatever car was in

"4 FAHL. What could that stand for?" we thought for a minute. "Four farting aliens having lunch!" he blurted out. We laughed like crazy, and made up

The Beach Boys Poem Analysis
Hopping into the car or closing the bedroom door, turning up the music, relaxing, and being alone. Both Stephen Dunn and the Beach Boys wrote
about their places of relaxation where they go to get away from all the problems in their lives. Stephen Dunn, who wrote "The Sacred," was married
and later got divorced. He could have written this poem when he was grieving that and did not want to interact with anyone else. His car was probably
the place he went to have privacy and quiet, at times like that. Brian Wilson, who wrote "In My Room" for The Beach Boys, wrote the poem after
battling drugs, alcohol, abuse, and mental illness for years. The poem could have a lot to do with what he felt like while he was going through
everything. He probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In "The Sacred," the word "car" is repeated to emphasize that it is a place where people feel safe and show how important it is for everyone to
have a place to be themselves. A sacred place is peaceful and it is a place where people do not have to be afraid. One student says that his "sacred
place" is his car, and then gives all the reasons why his car is so important to him (Dunn 2). Before each reason he repeats "the car," because he is
pointing out and emphasizing that his sacred place is his car (Dunn 4). He can go there when he needs time to think and he enjoys "being in it
alone" (Dunn 6). After he says his opinion about his car, "the car [keeps] coming up (...) / [because] others kn[o]w the truth ha[s] been spoken"
(Dunn 7, 10). The other students agree that their cars are a place where they can feel protected too. They agree that the car is important because it
is a great place to be alone, to forget about everything else, and to just have time to oneself. Repetition in the poem "In My Room" is used in a
similar way for the same reason. After listing each reason why he feels secure in his room, the person repeats twice that the room is his. By repeating
that a total of six times, he stresses that his room is a special place, where he "won't be afraid" because he can "lock out/ all [his] worries and (...)
fears" when he is in there (The Beach Boys 6–7, 12–13). His room is the only place where he feels safe. It is the only place that he can have to himself
without worrying about anything else, so it is really important to him. In both poems repetition is used to draw attention to the place where those
people feel most secure. It is used to show how important it is for everyone to have a place like that for himself or

AMH3304 Visions of America Since 1945. Popular Music and Cultural Impact The 1960's were a time for creativity, end of the Vietnam War, and a
time of musical evolution. Because of the overwhelming impact of the war and social and political tribulations with the assassination of JFK and
MLK and civil rights movements, life incorporated sex, drugs, and music as a way of dealing with the feelings. Brian Wilson, the lead singer, and
writer of the Beach Boys created "Good Vibrations" which had a great impact on the culture of the 1960's. During a period where drugs were prevalent

He tended to use upbeat rhythms and fast tempos. He also used bass riffs and song hooks and using several different tempos throughout the song
(Fitzgerald, 2002). These upbeat tempos and changing rhythms symbolized the effort of equating upbeat mood throughout the 1960s. Drugs
played a major influence on song "Good Vibrations." Brian Wilson suffered from depression which led to drug use as a coping mechanism with
dealing with his inner trials. This was a common scenario for the time period. "Good Vibrations" was created at the end of Wilson's career. He
worked endlessly with different collaborators and for over six months trying to make the song perfect. He used a combination of pop and classical
sonata within the piece (Roland, 2002). The song ended as his last number one hit of his career encompassing all the efforts he had left. "Good
Vibrations" was created by a man that had deep internal struggles which was a symbol of the times. In the 1960s drugs, love, and covering up the
emotional struggles of the economy were something that Wilson incorporated within his piece. The 1960s were a time of upbeat and soul searching
music. "Good Vibrations" will forever have a cultural impact on society portraying love and feeling

The Emergence of Surf Music Essays
The Emergence of Surf Music
Many different music styles emerged during the early 1960's. One of these music styles that was perhaps the most prominent music style to ever come
out of Southern California was Surf Music. Surf music was a short–lived phenomenon that occurred from 1961 to 1965 (Nostalgia, 2002). Along with
the surf music craze, Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing, including Gidget, and Endless Summer (St. James
Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). These movies had some amazing soundtracks that helped popularize the surf music phenomenon. There are
two different forms of surf music; instrumental and vocal (Holm, 1998 and St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, let's start with the innovator of surf music and the king of the surf guitar; Dick Dale. Dick was originally from Boston, but he moved to
Southern California when he was seventeen (Wikipedia, 2003). While in California, he became popular for his country guitar playing. At the same
time, he was spending a lot of time with the surfers on the beaches in California. He immediately became intrigued by the spirit of the surf culture, and
the splendor of the ocean waves. He began experimenting with his music, trying to capture the rhythm and sounds of the ocean. He formed the group
Dick Dale and the Del–tones in 1961 (Wikipedia, 2003 and Bettenville). His live performances became a huge local draw, and his double picking
guitar style was admired by many (even Leo Fender who asked him to test some of his new amplifier prototypes with the notion that if his
amplifiers could survive Dick Dale's playing, they could survive anything) (Bettenville). At the end of 1961, he released his first single, "Let's Go
Trippin'," which is considered to be the first surf rock recording (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). He followed that recording with a few more
locally–released songs, including "Jungle Fever" and "Surf Beat"

My Birthday Experience
Seven hours in the car was definitely the birthday present I wanted. Having to wait four extra days to take my permit test made it even better! It
was literally down to the last inning, if he had swung a split second later I would get to spend my birthday doing whatever I wanted with my
friends. But of course not with my luck. They had to win and drag me out to Omaha for a regional tournament I had no interest in watching. A
weekend with my 11 year old brother and 15 of his crazy friends ahead of me made me want to jump out of the car and just get a taxi back home.
But since they made it to regionals, I guess I'd prefer they do well and make it even farther. By about the third hour in the car I had about lost my
mind. My little brother and his friend screaming made up songs with dumb youtube videos on full volume in the background, I could hardly hear the
music through my headphones. I gave up on trying to read the permit book. We stopped at starbucks for the third time on the way there and I decided
to see what this hotel looked like. I mean, might as well figure out the places that the little children won't invade.
"Ten minutes! Get all of your stuff together so I don't have to sit and wait when we finally get there," shouted my dad. The one thing he couldn't
stand was sitting in the car when we could've been inside already. I guess that would bother me as well if I had just drove seven hours as well.
Finally we parked the car. I threw everything to the front and crawled over my brother to get some fresh air and stretch my legs. After a glorious
minute, I had no choice but to grab all ten of my bags and get inside unless I wanted to stay out there. I wrapped the handles around my arms and
trudged into the lobby where I waited another five minutes trying to stay stable. You could smell the breakfast leftovers and chlorine coming from
the pool. I looked over and noticed my dad arguing with the front desk lady. She didn't look like she was happy to check us in. We ended up getting the
room key and I was ready to go set my extra 200 pounds down when I got called over to sign some paper. Both of my parents walked away rolling their
eyes, which wasn't a good sign. I looked over the paper, seeing that I was

Beach Boys Civil Rights Movement
The Beach Boys
In a decade of colossal controversy, political partition and civil war, it was The Beach Boys who offered many people liberation from the chronic
oppression of the time with their music in the 1960s. The Beach Boys attempted to ease the spirits of the nation by singing songs about an idyllic life –
where surfing and cars were the most important things to consider on a day–to–day basis. The public took to the music well, but The Beach Boys felt
they had to push boundaries in order to truly show the public what they were capable of as songwriters. But why did these 'surfers' feel the need to
show off their musical capabilities? Pet Sounds was the work that did exactly this, allowing Brian Wilson share his every emotion through music and
lyrics, while also being somewhat uncompromising in terms of the production and his musical abilities.
The mid 1960s were an important era not only musically, but also historically. Sixties America seemed promising to begin with as 'many Americans
believed they were standing at the dawn of the golden age' (History.com Staff, 2010). The young and confident John F. Kennedy was elected as The
President of the United States, most of who's campaign was based on arbitrating inequality and injustice in the U.S. The Civil Rights Movement was

For The Beach Boys, they showed how a disputing country can give rise to profound music by creating an album that brought song writing and
production to a whole new level. This was a time when creativity was omnipresent. People were open to experimentation, analysis and tentation with no
boundaries. The Beach Boys were one of the first bands to explore just how far they could take popular music without leaving the genre's unadorned
nature – a trend that was closely followed by other highly regarded bands an musicians of this era, such as The Beatles and David

Brian Wilson
Review of Brian Wilson live at the Hop Farm Festival, Kent, England – 5th July 2014
Last summer I got the chance to see Brian Wilson perform live with a backing band comprising of Al Jardine (The Beach Boys) and younger session
musicians Matt Jardine, Darian Sahanaja and Scott Bennett. Having missed out on getting tickets to the Beach Boys 50th anniversary concert in
London a couple of years earlier, I jumped at the chance to see the band's frontman when he scheduled a show just an hour away from my hometown.
Expectedly, original material by the Beach Boys comprised of most of the set, with only five of the twenty–eight songs performed having not been
written by the group. However, all five of these cover versions (such as 'Barbara Ann' by The Regents and 'Do You Wanna Dance?' by Bobby
Freeman) had previously been covered by the Beach Boys to great success, with the Californian band's recordings being considered definitive by many.
Although one of Brian Wilson's biggest influences was fellow producer and songwriter Phil ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Musically, such songs as 'Surfin' USA' and 'Fun Fun Fun' draw upon the electric guitar–driven simple early classic rock sound of Chuck Berry, as well
as the Californian surf–rock style of artists like Dick Dale.
Although the Beach Boys may lack the raucousness that many associate with rock music, I firmly believe that the band should be considered exponents
the genre. By extension, Brian Wilson's performance in Kent last year is also worthy of such a description. The songs Wilson performed during the
concert were incredibly significant during the evolution of rock music, with artists as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones and Fleetwood Mac
having credited Wilson's compositions as being hugely influential to the development of their own

My Last Day In Life
It was the last day of school with less an hour left on the clock. I had my eyes glued to the clock counting down the seconds, each minute felt like an
hour, and right now I wish that was true.
Right when the bell rang everyone rushed out of class, to their locker, onto the bus, and headed home to start their summer. I was going on a trip to
Florida with my family and a few friends. We had planned to leave first thing when we got home, I was so excited as it was my first time going on a
plane. When I arrived home, my family was already waiting for me in the car. I dropped of my school stuff, grabbed my bags, and headed into the
car. My younger brother and I talked about all the fun things we would get to do this summer: go to Disney, swim at the beach, the list goes on.
We talked so much we didn't even realize we had already arrived at the airport. After we went through the many long and boring lines, we were
finally ready to board the plane. By the time we got on it was already 20 past 10. I got to my seat and saw my friends Brian and John were on the same
plane with me. I talked with for a minute until the pilot said we are about to take off. I got to my seat and decided to to take a short rest since I was
awake since 5:30 this morning. All I wish is that I got to tell my parents how much I loved them.
It was just me. my brother, and my 2 friends. That was it. Everyone else was gone, not dead, just gone, no bodies, no blood. There was barely anything
left behind. We

The Glass Castle Analysis
An autobiography written by Jeannette Walls, "The Glass Castle" displays many points that the reader should take strongly into consideration. The
book features situations that are truly appalling, and while reading, you wonder how Jeannette and her siblings made it through. On top of making it
through these experiences, the Walls children were able to keep a relationship with their parents. From reading this autobiography, I can conclude the
Walls children were made stronger and were able to be successful due to their unique education, the poor personal choices of their parents, and the
lifestyle of constant moving. Today, there is endless contemplation surrounding what it means to be a goodparent. Rex and Rosemary Walls, while
being unconventional, raised successful children. The education received by Jeannette and her siblings was something that kids today rarely
receive. "Mom and Dad did most of our teaching. Mom had us all reading books without pictures by the time we were five, and Dad taught us math.
He also taught us the things that were really important and useful, like how to tap out Morse code and how we should never eat the liver of a polar
bear because all the vitamin A in it could kill us." This education was specifically unique to the Walls children, and while not very useful, made these
children different. Thinking differently is something that is to be valued, in a world where parents have begun doing everything for their children. In
his article, "Bad

Fantasy and Reality in D.H. Hwang's, M. Butterfly
A person may search their whole life for love. Some are lucky enough to find the perfect someone, and some are not. The one's who are not as lucky
can sometimes create their own idea of their ideal partner, but never actually find them. In D.H. Hwang's play M. Butterfly, a man by the name of
Gallimard creates his own idea of the perfect partner. He falls in love with a woman by the name of Song, who turns out to be not what he expected.
Song is actuality a Chinese spy disguised as a woman. Hwang illustrates in the play M. Butterfly, people are not always who they perceive to be.
Through Gallimards love for song, his portrayal for the East and West, and Gallimards obsession with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person would think of the statement about the East and West to be referring to the difference between Song and Gallimard. Song knows that
Gallimard wants to be masculine, and that he wants a feminine woman. He feels that if she is weak, that he would feel more in power. Knowing
this, Song fulfills his fantasy and is everything that Gallimard desires. Gallimard exclaims in the play, "You have changed my life forever. My little
Butterfly, there should be no more secrets: I love you" (40). In turn, the diplomat becomes obsessed with the idea of having a powerless female by his
side.
The question of whether Gallimard actually knows that Song is actually a woman is never officially answered in the book. Throughout the book,
Gallimard has his own suspicions about whether Song is actually a man. Yet he is in thrived with his idea of being in control of a woman like Song.
Though Song is deceiving Gallimard about her true gender, Song has feelings for Gallimard deep inside that would not let him break his chains of
silence that bound their love that in truth was deceitful.
At the beginning of the play, Song writes a letter to Gallimard telling him that she has "already given [him her] shame," (35) her shame pertaining to
the fact that Gallimard will not respond to any of her letters. By Song saying this, a reader would feel that Gallimard feels the

  • 1. I Saw This On Facebook. It Was Getting A Lot Of в Ђ Likes’ I saw this on facebook. It was getting a lot of 'likes' and actually, I liked it too. Very few would disagree with the saying. It says: "Family isn't always blood. It's the people in your life who want you in theirs; the one's who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what." ~Unknown All of us are blessed with friends who are like family members. Sometimes, we are so attached to each other, it seems they are a part of our family, born somewhere else. There are instances when friends have so much in common, we wonder, "do they really hail from some other family?" The people in your life who will want you in theirs, the ones who accept you for who you are and the ones who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often, however, families are not the truly loving and supportive havens they are meant to be. Often parents are detrimental to growth of their children. They have limitations that pass on to their children, infusing insecurities, fears, angers and dysfunctions in them. Most parents want to be loving and supportive, but they don't understand themselves well enough to do so. Some confuse being overly permissive with love. Others confuse being overly strict with love. The bottom line is that they are not truly loved and supported by their parents and don't learn to truly love and support themselves. Friendship helps people truly find themselves. Friends are necessary for our emotional and social wellbeing throughout life. Friends represent the family you choose. Not only are friends the family you choose, but they can also be a much more healthy family than the one you were born into. If you have managed to separate from a family that is unsupportive or even toxic, you may be able to form friendships that are psychologically healthier. These friends will accept you for who you are, not for who they want you to be. Those people who manage to go through this transitional phase can choose loving and supportive friends. By friends, I include loved ones, for loved ones are first and foremost friends. In addition, one's circle of friend may serve as an extended family. The more loving and supportive ... • 2. My Love Life Hi, I'm Margaret. I'm 15 years old and I love nature. How did I come to love nature, you might ask? Well, let me tell you. As an infant, I grew up differently from other kids. Most of it was due to the complications I had at birth. The day after I was born, I was flown in a helicopter to another hospital to be operated on. While my dad was able to drive to where I was, it didn't make sense for my mom wasn't as quite able to leave immediately. After all, she just had me. Nevertheless, she refused to lie in that hospital bed while I was in an operation room 50 miles away. And so, just as you probably expected, she ignored all the doctors and came straight to the hospital where I was. As these events unfolded, my two older sisters had to go with strangers they had never met. After many surgeries, it would seem that I was almost back to normal. However, the surgeries were only half of the problems I had as an infant. A few weeks after these events, I started to have colic. For those who don't know, colic is a very painful intestinal condition that is commonly found in young babies. For months, I would cry for hours on end. My parents just couldn't figure out how to make me happy again. All of this changed, however, when one day my dad took me outside. Within a few minutes, my tomato red face faded, and my crying ceased. I was content once more! And from that day forward, that peace in nature has tagged along with me and remains to this day. No matter what day of the year, if you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I took a gulp to clear my throat. The clear cup of water was next to me. I looked in the mirror and I was thinking. Should I really do this? Am I going to let go of my life? At the age of 15? Here we go.....*sighs* Age 12. I was a happy girl until I found out my dad only had less than a year to live, due to cancer. I did everything with him. He taught me how to live life and taught me things. How to ride a bike without training wheels, how to cook ramen noodles, and how to read a book. My mom always works. So I barely see her. I was just in my room on my laptop looking pictures of our family. I was really hungry. I went downstairs and made ramen, for me and mom. I went back upstairs and knocked on my moms door. "Mom, do you want some ramen, I cooked some food for you." "NO, DO YOU SEE ME? I'M TRYING TO REST AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING! GET OUT OF MY LIFE" I was in shock of the word that came out of my mom's mouth. I went back into my room and ate my ramen noodles. Slowly, just staring at the wall. It was 5:00 in the afternoon. Our house was a complete mess. Clothes everywhere, food, And just everything around the house. To be honest I don't even know how all these stuff get in here. For the past few days my mom was just in her room sobbing, having my dad's clothes on her bed smelling them. "I don't," Scarlett mumbled so low that he couldn't even hear her. Charlie sat up and looked at her for a moment before scooting close to her so that he was right next to her. She was still sitting cross–legged so he didn't get very close. She wasn't looking at him, but instead was staring into space. "Hey," Charlie whispered. When Scarlett didn't respond, he turned her shoulders so that she was looking at him. "Stop shutting yourself off," Charlie said and pulled her lightly onto his lap. "I don't shut myself off, Charlie. I just get... nervous," Scarlett mumbled and broke her gaze. She felt awkward with him right now. She couldn't quite figure out why, but his presence felt different from before. "And then when you get nervous, you shut out the people who love you," Charlie finished with a snide look on his face. "The people that love me......." Scarlett whispered. "Yes Scarlett. You know, you really scared me today. I...... I thought I'd lost you." Charlie whispered and wrapped his arms around her waist. • 5. First Born Syndrome Research Paper I suffer from First Born Syndrome. It is my place in the birth order that has influenced my actions and sent me on my journey toward a career that maybe, just maybe, I am born to do. I was born and raised in Lapeer, Michigan, the "bedroom community." All that means is the GM jobs were in Lake Orion, Pontiac, and Detroit and the people of Lapeer (the men) car pooled every day two hours to The Shop. It was assumed that you would grow up, graduate and go to work at The Shop. But in my house our parents talked of little else except going to college, becoming doctors or scientists . This is strange to think about knowing that no one in my family, on either side, had ever gone to college. I have to be organized with the plan, I need to corral students as I did my family and friends. Without my command of the room and agenda the kids would be lost. • 6. Rhetorical Analysis : My Life Until I started this rhetorical analysis paper I wasn't aware that the things I display in my room say things about me. I never thought about how they make me look as a person or what my audience would assume about me based on these items. When I started analyzing, all these questions started popping up. I was finally able to step back and see myself how others might see me. When asked by my teacher to pick 3 items that describe myself from my bedroom I didn't have any trouble picking them out. When it came down to it, I 'd always choose the same 3 items: A wall of family pictures, a Pride flag and a mirror with notes and pictures all over it. My absolute favorite senior photo is one of me in a blue Lexington Wildcats T–shirt and jeans and I 'm laying on top of my Pride flag with my head propped up on my hand. Now my flag hangs proudly above my TV until its time for my next Pride Festival. This flag is very important to me because I want my audience to know how far I 've come and how comfortable I am with who I am and what my sexual orientation is. I came out to the majority of my family and friends in 2015 around fall time. I went through a lot of stages where I felt bad about myself and who I was but through the support of my family and friends I was finally able to become comfortable with who I am. So to show this, I leave my flag hanging as a reminder that I 'm perfect just the way I am! The audience of this is also my friends, family, and even those in the LGBT community. I 'm lucky to have friends and family who are as supportive as anyone can be, so it makes them very happy to see my flag hanging when they come into my room. I would say that I 'm using both ethos and pathos in this, I 'm using pathos because my flag hanging evokes my audience to feel happy for me and how far I 've come since 2015. Music, being found in every person's life every single day, it is continually changing–– to some for the better, while to others' opinions, the worse. Music lacking originality will not stand the test of time. I looked at my brother with the biggest grin I could muster, as we heard my mother's off–pitch voice, singing our favorite Disney songs to us, currently one from Sleeping Beauty, much to my brother's dismay. It was the best day I can remember. Mymother finished up with the song, and I thought it was the best thing I had ever heard. I didn't know at the time that my mother is actually tone–deaf. "Again, again, again!" I wailed. I would never tire of that song, but everyone else certainly did. Even now she'll randomly start humming the tune like she did for me so many times before. She just smiled at me and went back into the song. I stuck my tongue out at my brother and giggled. She was washing the dishes, a clean, and light scent that I would always breath in deeply. It was after she made a face of love and slight disgust, that I heard the door knob start to turn. • 10. Argumentative Essay On The Fault In Our Stars That's the thing about pain. It demands to be felt. In Indianapolis, poor Hazel Grace Lancaster has to go through that every day. Hazel has Thyroid cancer and it affects her everyday life. However, when Gus came into her life, her view on the world changed forever. John Green, the author of The Fault In Our Stars, uses dialogue to elaborate on the theme of being there for someone through the good and bad moments. Throughout the book, Hazel and Gus show that sometimes just being there for each other could mean the world to them, even when there are no words needing to be said. For example, Gus and Hazel's conversation on the phone after their first date. In the text it states "Okay," he said. "I gotta go to sleep. It's almost one." "Okay," I said. "Okay," he said. I giggled and said, "Okay." And then the line was quiet but not dead. I almost felt like he was there in my room with me, but in a way, it was better, like I was not in my room and he was not in his, but instead, we were together in some invisible and tenuous third space that could only be visited on the phone. "Okay," he said after forever. "Maybe okay will be our always." "Okay," I said."(Green 72 –73) As mentioned previously, you don't have to have conversations to be there for someone. This shows that they are perfectly fine together, even when there are no words needing to be said. Also, when you have devotedness tord someone that much just knowing that you are sincere and ready to talk to anytime, anywhere, is incredible. Near the end of the book, Gus had died from cancer and a funeral was held. Doleful Hazel arrived and this is what happened... "As I knelt, I realized they'd closed his eyes –of course they had– and that I would never again see his blue eyes. "I love you present tense," I whispered and then put my hand in the middle of his chest and said, "It's okay, Gus.It's okay. It is. It's okay, you hear me?" I had–and have– absolutely no confidence that he could hear me. I leaned forward and kissed his cheek. "Okay," I said. "Okay." (Green 270) This piece of text shows that even when Gus was lifeless, she was still there for him by saying "Okay".Although she was in great distress, she stood with courage. • 11. I Must Cherish The Time With Your Family : A Short Story I believe you must cherish the time with your family! (1) I woke up and it was a new day, where everything was normal, but it wasn't, my brother wasn't there. Over the years I grew up with my brothers and two dogs which one looked like a fatten up sausage ready to be eaten. I learned to love and live with them. They were my best friends and I spent most of my days with them. Playing history games or other similar games which they were a massive part of my life. One day that all stopped when the wind died down all was left was me and my final brother. (2) I am seven years old now and out of all those seven years I lived with both of my brothers. My brothers included Avi and Daniel. Avi was the brother who made gaming fun with his strategic deployments. As for Daniel he would ruin Avi'sruins and Avi would exclaimed, " No, what Angelo you ruined our chance." As you can tell from that statement I wasn't that bright with my strategic placements. We would play till the morning dawn when the sunlight would burn your face and you are being cooked in the sizzling metal seat. (3) When I was young everything was nice I had not to be worried to be organized and time to do my homework. We didn't have any worries just me and my brothers. Well until the first one went to college. His name was Avi, though his real name was Alvaro. We all look like clones of each other which came from different timelines. The first few days I didn't realize he was gone because I was young and everything was new. (4) One day Avi told me, ВЁI gotta go now.ВЁ I started seeing him less and less. Now, I only had Daniel, of course he stilled loved me, but I felt a piece of my heart was gone. Every weekend Avi would come again and again. (5) I didn't understand the concept of college I thought it was a playground where people play with other people. Where everything was hunky–dory like how I was now. Sometimes, Avi took us to places which were of amazement with me. With buildings that touched the sky and made me feel like an ant, so inconsiderately small to the building. The people just walked by like wind blowing in the breeze. Nothing mattered only me and my brothers. (6) Suddenly, there was many events, more than usual all at once. By the end

After hearing a song in a movie, I instantly knew it was the famous Beach Boys, or so I thought... So, did the two nifty bands influence each other? After all, I couldn't even distinguish the difference between them. A problem that could have arose from the two bands is one being considered a "copycat." The people involved with my question mainly revolved around Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. Brian Wilson is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer and who co –founded The Beach Boys. Paul McCartney is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and composer and who gained his worldwide fame as the bass guitarist and singer for the Beatles. I'm not sure when it all started, but four months ago in the room of a hotel, I found myself sitting in a desk, writing a suicidal letter. I didn't really want to end my life, I simply wanted to get rid of this pain. It was more of an agony what I was dealing with. I had no dreams. I had no ambitions. And I knew that what I was about to do was going to hurt. My future shrank down to this day, these last couple of hours in this hotel room in the middle of nowhere. At this point I didn't really care, I was living a life that didn't even belong to me anymore. That day, that week, that month, I felt reluctant even to ponder if there was another way out. Both Stephen Dunn and the Beach Boys wrote about their places of relaxation where they go to get away from all the problems in their lives. Stephen Dunn, who wrote "The Sacred," was married and later got divorced. He could have written this poem when he was grieving that and did not want to interact with anyone else. His car was probably the place he went to have privacy and quiet, at times like that. Brian Wilson, who wrote "In My Room" for The Beach Boys, wrote the poem after battling drugs, alcohol, abuse, and mental illness for years. In "The Sacred," the word "car" is repeated to emphasize that it is a place where people feel safe and show how important it is for everyone to have a place to be themselves. A sacred place is peaceful and it is a place where people do not have to be afraid. One student says that his "sacred place" is his car, and then gives all the reasons why his car is so important to him (Dunn 2). Before each reason he repeats "the car," because he is pointing out and emphasizing that his sacred place is his car (Dunn 4). He can go there when he needs time to think and he enjoys "being in it alone" (Dunn 6). After he says his opinion about his car, "the car [keeps] coming up (...) / [because] others kn[o]w the truth ha[s] been spoken" (Dunn 7, 10). The other students agree that their cars are a place where they can feel protected too. They agree that the car is important because it is a great place to be alone, to forget about everything else, and to just have time to oneself. Repetition in the poem "In My Room" is used in a similar way for the same reason. After listing each reason why he feels secure in his room, the person repeats twice that the room is his. By repeating that a total of six times, he stresses that his room is a special place, where he "won't be afraid" because he can "lock out/ all [his] worries and (...) fears" when he is in there (The Beach Boys 6–7, 12–13). His room is the only place where he feels safe. It is the only place that he can have to himself without worrying about anything else, so it is really important to him. In both poems repetition is used to draw attention to the place where those people feel most secure. It is used to show how important it is for everyone to have a place like that for himself or ... Because of the overwhelming impact of the war and social and political tribulations with the assassination of JFK and MLK and civil rights movements, life incorporated sex, drugs, and music as a way of dealing with the feelings. Brian Wilson suffered from depression which led to drug use as a coping mechanism with dealing with his inner trials. This was a common scenario for the time period. "Good Vibrations" was created at the end of Wilson's career. He worked endlessly with different collaborators and for over six months trying to make the song perfect. He used a combination of pop and classical sonata within the piece (Roland, 2002). The song ended as his last number one hit of his career encompassing all the efforts he had left. "Good Vibrations" was created by a man that had deep internal struggles which was a symbol of the times. In the 1960s drugs, love, and covering up the emotional struggles of the economy were something that Wilson incorporated within his piece. The 1960s were a time of upbeat and soul searching music. One of these music styles that was perhaps the most prominent music style to ever come out of Southern California was Surf Music. Along with the surf music craze, Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing, including Gidget, and Endless Summer (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). At the same time, he was spending a lot of time with the surfers on the beaches in California. He immediately became intrigued by the spirit of the surf culture, and the splendor of the ocean waves. It was literally down to the last inning, if he had swung a split second later I would get to spend my birthday doing whatever I wanted with my friends. But of course not with my luck. Beach Boys Civil Rights Movement The Beach Boys In a decade of colossal controversy, political partition and civil war, it was The Beach Boys who offered many people liberation from the chronic oppression of the time with their music in the 1960s. The Beach Boys attempted to ease the spirits of the nation by singing songs about an idyllic life – where surfing and cars were the most important things to consider on a day–to–day basis. The public took to the music well, but The Beach Boys felt they had to push boundaries in order to truly show the public what they were capable of as songwriters. But why did these 'surfers' feel the need to show off their musical capabilities? Pet Sounds was the work that did exactly this, allowing Brian Wilson share his every emotion through music and lyrics, while also being somewhat uncompromising in terms of the production and his musical abilities. The book features situations that are truly appalling, and while reading, you wonder how Jeannette and her siblings made it through. On top of making it through these experiences, the Walls children were able to keep a relationship with their parents. From reading this autobiography, I can conclude the Walls children were made stronger and were able to be successful due to their unique education, the poor personal choices of their parents, and the lifestyle of constant moving. Today, there is endless contemplation surrounding what it means to be a goodparent. Rex and Rosemary Walls, while being unconventional, raised successful children. The education received by Jeannette and her siblings was something that kids today rarely receive. "Mom and Dad did most of our teaching. Mom had us all reading books without pictures by the time we were five, and Dad taught us math. He also taught us the things that were really important and useful, like how to tap out Morse code and how we should never eat the liver of a polar bear because all the vitamin A in it could kill us."
