4. What is Energy or Resources
Energy is a fundamental component to our daily
lives, and everyday we use energy or power in some
form or another.
Ability of a system to perform work.
5. Types of Energy
There are many different energy resources on our
planet, but they are all classified into two primary
groups renewable energy resources, and non
renewable energy resources.
Renewable energy
Non-renewable energy
Green energy
7. Renewable energy resources are energy resources that are
directly available, immediately accessed, and can be
consistently replaced.
Renewable Energy
8. Non renewable energy resources on the other hand are just the opposite.
Our Earth is fixed with a finite amount of energy resources, and once we run
out, we will not be able to use those energy resources ever again.
Non-Renewable Energy
9. Green energy is energy that is produced in such a way
as to minimize its negative impact on the environment.
Green Energy
10. Energy and Development: Historical
Overview
Energy and human development right back to the
domestication of fire some 500,000 years ago.
o Discover Fire
o Combustions Engine
Considered the roots of energy and development.
“Economic History of World Population” or of Development. Cipolla, 1962
13. Current Political Conflicts on Energy
The majority of remaining oil reserves are situated in the locations of Iran ,
Iraq ,Saudi Arabia , Russia and Central Asia. This is causing a change in the
political /power landscape of the world.
When a country nationalizes oil , it typically
leads to:
Control over the price
Oil companies lose their control over
supplies
Dwindling oil-related investment
opportunities etc.
14. Energy Always Represents A Source Of
Conflict: A Historical Overview
• The Japanese attacked on Pearl Harbor in 1941
• Kuwaiti wells on fire in 1991 after the Iraqi invasion
• "Great Game" Russia and Great Britain in Asia in the 19th
Century
• Iraq war
• Libya war
• Afghanistan
• U.S. forces mobilize for war with Iran
15. Water and world conflicts
(Bangladesh and India)
Sustainable water and energy use is essential to our survival and
development and to achieve this we need to act now and act smart, because
saving energy equals saving water.
17. Challenges of Energy, Food and Water
Security are Interrelated
Energy and water needs for agriculture
Energy use for water purification , distribution, recycle
Conflicts between use of water for hydroelectricity and by
people
Energy and water requirements for food processing and
distribution
Water needs for energy production
18. We are Connected to Electricity !
Note :1.3 billion people are without connected to electricity !
19. Opportunities of world Energy
Energy is the power to run anything . 1.3 billion people are in
the world having without energy. Instead of scarcity we have
great opportunities to do good in this field.
Wind
Water
Solar bio-gas plant
Nuclear(though it has many criticisms)
Management and proper cooperation among the world
21. Energy Threats for the World
Energy can play the vital role of development and production , but
sometimes it appears threats for all.
• Nuclear blast e.g.-
Hiroshima , Nagsikha (1941)
• War of the world ,e.g.- Iraq ,
Afghanistan , Sireya
• Fukushima, Japan 2011
• Chernobyl, Ukraine 1986
23. Energy and Climate Change
The crisis is alarming because development does not compromise ecological
value that’s why climate change is occurring at an alarming rate.
Clash of politics regarding environmental values and interests the world
climate changes rapidly.
24. Way to Share the World Energy
Without Conflicts
Energy is considered the natural resource but due to the
human’s law or power of the world the energy ruled by different
country.
Rethink the use of technology
Develop international cooperation
Energy for production
To ensure Sustainable energy for all with a good
cooperation
25. Sustainable Energy for all
Sustainable energy, specifically renewable energy or green
energy which can be replenished.
Accessibility
Availability
Affordability
Accountability
Sustainable Energy for all is a
shared
Responsibility
28. Conclusion
Basic Elements of Environment
Air + Water + Land + Natural Resources = Energy
It is very vital to take extra care to all of the above
components.
Various legal framework , policies , mechanism should
introduce and implement by the government as to protect &
preserve our natural resources and blanching with follow to
sustainable way.
