MEANING
4. DEFINITION
The definition of a patent is the right from the federal
government to produce and sell something for a certain
number of years without anyone copying it. An example of
patent is a protection against copying the production method
used to create M&MS.
5. CALLED A PATENT
The word patent originates from the Latin patere,
which means to lay open (ie., to make available for public
inspection.)
6. IMPORTANCE
A patent gives you the right to stop others from copying ,
manufacturing , selling or importing your invention without your
permission . See protecting intellectual property . You get protection for a
pre determined period , allowing you to keep competitors at bay . You can
then use your invention yourself.
