David Guetta feat. Estelle –  One Love   One of the first shots in Lutz’s videos is this shot of Estelle, stood in front of fats moving traffic, as she moves in normal speed. This use of green screen is definitely something I would like to incorporate into my own video. This video, like many other of Lutz’s, features LOTS of dancing. Here there can be seen two people doing very dramatic impressive street dance in a shop. The video also heavily features the use of women as the main protagonist. Although David Guetta made the single and sings in it, he is very rarely seen, and is no way highlighted in the way Estelle is. As I mentioned early, dancing is an important aspect of this video. This point links into the repetition of women, as 90% of the time, it is women who are dancing in shot, often seeing men as backup or background dancers.
Rihanna –  Pon de Replay   If I could describe this video in two words it would be “sex appeal”. The video Rihanna (the artist) almost continuously throughout. She is seen wearing a low cut, bright top, drawing attention to her and illustrating her importance to the song itself. She dances provocatively, and often on podiums, with loose connotations to an exotic dancer. Key features in this video only supports comments I made early. Again, the main protagonist is a female, and the percentage of background dancers are also women. There is no narrative or obviously strong theme in the video, it contains merely impressive dancing with fast cuts and artistic camera shot (as seen in the screen grabs). This video can be seen as postmodern, as it prioritises style over substance. No story is told, only pretty stylized images, a typical attribute of postmodern work.
Saun Paul –  Get Busy Finally, Saun Paul’s “get busy” is no exception to Lutz’s style. Female dancers, background dancers are heavily featured as well as connotations to exotic dancers.  Lutz follows an obvious style throughout his work. He realises that the mixture of fast cuts and sexy dancing makes for a fast pace, exciting atmosphere. Lutz also seems to work with RnB artists, targeting the clubbing scene, which perhaps reflects why he features sexy dancing in his videos so much. I feel working with a director such as Lutz would be incredibly useful. Its clear that he can bring out bright characters within his videos, as the dancers etc genuinely look like they are having a good time. Lutz effectively reflects his videos into his target audience, making it clear where this music is going to be heard, who by and how you should dance to it. Not only does Lutz know how to put videos together, making them look exciting, but he also has an obvious knowledge of the music scene itself. Each shot looks as realistic and as relatable as the next.
