Responsible for the erection of a new coal washing crusher
plant for BHP Billiton at Ogies in Mapululanga, South
Africa at the Klipspruit Mines. The project value was 5m
US Dollars. The staff reporting to me comprised 230
permanent staff plus contractors, a total of 300 personnel.
The project included the erection of conveyors, rotary
breakers and chain feeders as well as pipelines with
various diameters of pipes ie. 6”,8” & 10”. Management
and control of contractors & sub-contractors.
Responsibilities included quality control, ensuring safety
procedures and deadlines and budgets were met. I
attended daily progress meetings and was responsible for
the commissioning and hand over to the client.

ALGOA-PS, Port Elizabeth
Project Engineer: Piping & Mechanical (Angola
Project)
Responsible for the fabrication and erection of 12 Storage
Tanks comprising Kerosene, Diesel, Petrol and Jeta 1.
The delivery line from off shore to the depot on shore
consisted of 50kms in length in total pipelines (Carbon &
Stainless Steel). The project was 12m US Dollars and I
had control of 200 staff – welders and artisans. The site
was Port Amboim on the coast, 250kms south of Angola.
Responsible for the installation of all pipelines, valves,
tanks, separators etc.
The supervision of all sub-contractors and the timeous
completion and compliance of the project to client
specifications. I visited the sub-contractors on a daily
basis. Managed the fabrication, erection, commissioning
and hand over to the client. API 650 Quality standards
were required.

I worked in Walvis Bay. Controlled 80 Artisans. Installed
approximately 100 tons of piping for various systems on
the rig. The diameter of the pipes was between 2 inches to
24 inches (carbon and stainless steel). There was
extensive welding, control of quality and labour costs.
On-going supervision and management of contractors and
sub-contractors ensuring specifications and timing was to
the clients’ requirements. Commissioned and handed over
to the client.

Oil Rig
Piping Coordinator : Mechanical and Piping
I was responsible for 30m US Dollars of this project and
the control of 120 staff. The Rig was built in Malaysia
and shipped to Nigeria. The job entailed commissioning
and hand over. Supply lines (14 x Riser’s) from the
seabed to the Rig. The diameter of the pipes was 16,10,8
inches of extra strong pipes (Carbon & Stainless Steel).
RT welding & procedures were used. All lines and
equipment were pressure tested. Control of contractors,
costing, timing, safety and commissioning and hand over
to the client was met.
