1. Duterte gives P45,000 to families of Cordillera Landslide Victims
President Rodrigo Duterte met yesterday with the landslide victims in Cordillera and provided
financial assistance.
Presidential aide Christopher Go said a total of P45,000 was given to the victim’s families,
P25,000 came from Social Welfare department while P20,000 came from the office of the
President.
He said that the families also received relief goods and burial assistance
In the Press briefing, Roque said that the president is pleased with how the agencies of the
government and the local governments respond to the tragedy and that they are also grieving
for those individuals who died because of typhoon Ompong.
Majority of the fatalities of the typhoon came from Cordillera Region and most of them are
because of landslides.
The death toll in the Cordillera in the wake of Ompong’s onslaught reached 54 and yet 42
individuals are still missing from the mining town in Itogon in where the town’s mayor, Victor
Palangdan, fears that those missing are already dead.
