2. Biography
Frederic Chopin was a Polish composer
and virtuosos pianist of the Romantic era.
He was born on 22nd February or 1st March
1810 in Żelazowa Wola and died on 17th
October 1849 in Paris. The feature of the works
of Chopin was capitalised on the stylistic
patterns of Polish folk music. Chopin composed
9 Polonaises, 57 Mazurkas, 21 Nocturnes, 4
Scherzo, 4 Ballads, 2 Etudes, 24 Preludes, 3
Sonatas, 2 Concerts and a dozen songs for
voice and piano.

7 November 1867 in Warsaw,

13. Szymborska was born on 2 July 1923 in Prowent. She later moved
to Kraków in 1931 and studied literature and sociology at the
Jagiellonian University there between 1945 and 1948. Her first
published poem, “Szukam słowa” (“I Seek the Word”), appeared in
a Kraków newspaper in March 1945. Her first volume of poetry,
Dlatego żyjemy (1952; “That's Why We Are Alive”), was an attempt
to conform to Socialist Realism, the officially approved literary style
of Poland's communist regime. In 1953 she joined the editorial
staff of Życie Literackie (“Literary Life”), a weekly magazine of
intellectual interests, and remained there until 1981. During this
period she gained a reputation not only as a poet but also as a
book reviewer and translator of French poetry. In the 1980s she
wrote for the underground press under the pseudonym
Stancykówna and for a magazine in Paris. Wisława Szymborska
died 1 February 2012 at home in Kraków, aged 88.

15. Polish radioastronomer , academic teacher,
co-discoverer of the first extrasolar planets,
professor at university in Pensylvania, received
his PhD at Nicolaus Copernicus University in
Toruń.

Aleksander Wolszczan has been interedted in stars since his childhood.
He said that he was inspired by his father who was telling him various
history about constellation ,for exemple Greek, Rome and China
legends. When he was 7 years old he arleady knew base knowledge
about astronomy. He observed the moons of Jupiter from the attic of his
house. He used a telescope made by himself. As a student of secondary
school he won an astronomy contest.
After he had graduated from high school he came to Toruń to study
stronomy.During his studying he worked as a technology intern. He
finished college in 1969. In 1973 as an senior assistant he came to Max-
Planck-Institute of Radioastronomie w Bonn , which disposed of
radiotelescope Effelsberg. In 1975 he got PhD.
17. From the begining of martial law in Poland he came out to Bonn again
where he received a lot of propositions to work in American agencies. He
decided to departure to Cornell University– university which had the
biggest radiotelescope in the world. It is near Arecibo , on Portoryko
island. In 1990 he obtained opportunity to take advantage of radiotelescope
to implemen his own research project.
18. In 1991 in Arecibo observatory Aleksander Wolszczan identifed pulsar PSR
B1257+12. Then he transpired that the pulsar has got at least three moons are
circulating around the planet. It was the first extrasolar planet recognise by a
human being. Next observations allowed to ascertain that in fact around PSR
1257+12 four moons are circulating. This discover was paraded in official in 1992
on American Company of Astronomy in Atlanta and also in "Nature„ magazine.
The results of his researches were publiced by Wolszczan in 1994 in
„Science„ magazine.
19. Since 1922 Aleksander Wolszczan has been conducting research
at State Univesity in Pensylvania. From his initative, Physical
Institute in Szczecin University, Department of Astronomy and
Astrophysics was established.

Poland. Justyna has been
competiting since 2001 and
over these years she has won
the titles inter alia of double
Olymphic Champion and
double World Champion. She
was born in 1983, in Limanowa
– small, polish town. Justyna
is 31 years old. Her height is
1.73m and she’s well-built
woman.
21. Maryla Rodowicz
Maryla Rodowicz was born as
Maria Antonina Rodowicz in
1945, in Zielona Góra. She’s
been a Polish singer since
1967. Rodowicz is also an
actress. Maryla is 68 years
old, and she’s still popular – in
special events in the year she
sings in colourful costumes. I
think she’s an energetic and
creative person. The singer
has a lot of fans.
22. Margaret
Małgorzata Jamroży – known by her
stage name Margaret, was born on
June 30, 1991. She’s a young Polish
singer and fashion blogger. Her first
debiut single ’Thank You Very Much’
made her very popular in Europe.
She has a lot of Italian, Polish and
German fans. Margaret is a really
talented singer. She loves music
and she can also play saxophone.
