3. INTRODUCATION
• There are many objects around us. Observe on the
road you can see moving buses, cars and other
vehicles. Many things and organism around us move
from one place to another.
• Example: A boy playing football, A running cat.
4. REST AND MOTION
• REST:A body said to be rest, if it does not change its
position with respect to its surroundings.
• MOTION: If body changes its position with respect
to its surroundings, then the body to be in motion.
5. For example :suppose a book is lying on a table. The
book is at rest with respect to the surroundings.

9. TRANSLATORY MOTION
• Motion in which all points of a moving body move
uniformly in the same line or direction.
10. RECTILINEAR MOTION
• When body moves along a straight line, it is called
rectilinear motion.
• Rectilinear is also called linear motion.
