The pangolin is a small nocturnal creature covered in hard keratin scales. It lives in forests and savannahs, quietly foraging for ants and termites at night. Pangolins are endangered due to illegal poaching and trade, as they are hunted for their meat, scales, and body parts to be used in traditional medicines, making them one of the most heavily trafficked mammals in the world.
