1. 2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My media product represents particular social groups
successfully. The age group of teens at the age of 16 and
onwards is generally the target as it is successful at aiming to this
audience because of the bands within the magazine for example
the main band feedback they are young and represent what
people want to do with their lives so they can therefore inspire
them to do something. This is useful as it shows that teens are
influenced by the things they see in magazines which make this a success of the bands used in the
magazine. There is no specific gender group aimed at but the style of the magazine and the language
used makes it more suitable and specified to the male
audience but because of the images used it also
appeals to the female audience as they are likely to
love posters of these artists for example on my double
page spread there is an image used on it that is like an
album cover for the band and on the front cover of my
magazine there is a framed image used of the band
playing which appeals to female audiences. Social
class is represented through the bands as the way
they talk and look is not imaginable for a middle class people, they are stereotyped as working class
people as they don’t dress fancy or anything but they are stereotyped to this class because of the
music genre they are in, it is usually seen as the working class that go into rock music. The way I
presented groups in my magazine is similar to Kerrang as they let the magazine be suitable and
representative of anyone; I wanted my magazine to be able to influence anyone of any group. The
magazine lets people feel to be themselves then therefore listen to the music that gives them
emotion.
