configuring the relationship between society, economy, and
government. Choose three that you think are particularly
important and construct an argument that compares them,
referring to relevant readings as you do so. You may find it
helpful to ask yourself the following questions: what were the
most significant governmental systems before World War II;
how did they differ and how were they similar; how did they
relate to one another; what did contemporaries consider the
strengths and weaknesses of each? Besides utilizing material
from lecture, your argument should refer to at least three but no
more than four of the following authors (depending of course on
which three you choose): Mill, Marx, Hobson, Ferry, Kipling,
Comfort, Keynes, Freud, Roosevelt, Stalin, Hitler, and/or
Mussolini.
