William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1564 to a leather worker and mayor. He married Anne Hathaway at age 18 and had three children, though he later left for London where he became a shareholder and playwright for The Lord Chamberlain's Men acting company and wrote 37 plays and 154 poems, including famous works like Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and King Lear. He died in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1616.
