William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 and had a successful career as a playwright and poet in London. Some of his most famous plays include Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and Macbeth. He published several narrative poems and helped run The Globe Theatre, which burned down in 1613. Shakespeare died in 1616 in his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon.

2. Life
• William Shakespeare was born on 23rd of April and
was brought up in Stratford-upon-Avon. He was an
a playwright and a poet.
• At the age of 18 he married Anne Hathaway with
whom he had three children, Susanna and twins
Hamnet and Judith. He began his career in London
as an actor, writer and part-owner of a playing
company called Lord Chamberlain’s Men, later
know as The King’s Men.
• He wrote many plays, mainly tragedies, until about
1608 including Hamlet, King Lear, Othello and
Macbeth.In 1616 he died in Stratford-upon-Avon.

3. Other works
• Shakespeare published two narrative poems,
Venus and Adonis and The Rape of Lucrece.
• In 1609 he published a third narrative poem A
Lover’s Complaint.
• In 1599 appeard The Passionate Pilgrim,
published without Shakespeare’s permission.

4. The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London,
associated with William Shakespeare.
It was built in 1599 and was destroyed by fire on
29 June 1613
A second Globe was built in the same place in
1614 and closed in1642.
