2. This is the sort of location that we might use for the
crime scene as it could show a relatively normal
home with an unsuspecting victim. It is a location
that the audience will be very familiar with
meaning that they wont be thinking too much
about the things that are happening on this
location and more about the things that are
happening on the other location with the female
character.
We want our location to look as much like an average home as possible
because in our research we found that this is where most of the murders in
these sorts of film happen, so by sticking to these conventions we can make
our opening as authentic to the real films as possible.
In the frame there would be a body lying on the floor in the centre of
the shot with a glass of red wine spilt over the floor. There would also
be the detective and maybe a few other forensic investigators on the
scene, doing things like collecting DNA and fingerprints.
When we actually film the opening we will probably use someone's
house for the location as that is the location in which the scene is set.

3. For the dark room location for the female we were looking at maybe using the
backstage area in drama as the room is covered in black curtains so it will be easy to
make the room very dark, there are also spotlights or plug sockets in the room so we
could easily light the desk with a spotlight or use a lamp or something and plug it in.
The space is also very empty which could add to the idea of her being isolated and very
secretive.
The table will be placed fairly central, up against one of the black curtains. This will give
the illusion of the room being never-ending and the dark colours could also reflect the
seriousness that the character feels.
Things we need to consider when choosing a location:
• feasible locations (things we have easy access to)
• locations that are not out of context with the opening
• how well they suit the characters or mirror their personalities
• how easily we can adapt it to suit our needs (are there plug sockets? etc.)
