INTRODUCTION
Community services is a voluntary work that intend to help people in
a particular area. A voluntary work is a work done by one person or a group
of people to benefit others. For this assignment, we were required to
perform a community services in a group and record a personal individual
journal that reflect our journey towards the whole process of how we
perform our roles and activities.
The orphanage home that we had visited is Rumah K.I.D.S located in
Subang Jaya. Rumah K.I.D.S was founded in 1991 and reaches out to abused,
orphaned and abandoned children. Rumah K.I.D.S had been supported by
well-wishers in the community, from individuals to corporations and non-
profit agencies who partner with Rumah K.I.D.S in their mission to give
orphaned, abused and abandoned children an opportunity to grow up and
realize their full potential. Today, Rumah K.I.D.S has housed, fed and
nurtured over 800 children.
We had a great time with the children and it was a very meaningful
activity to me. This activity helps us to understand the needs of the children
and encourage them to pursue their dreams in the future when they grow
up. Besides, we should also realize the important of this activity and be more
knowledgeable about the needs of the community.

We arrived at Rumah
K.I.D.S at 12.30pm to start
preparation and get ready
our staffs for the activities
before the kids come home
Each of us were assigned
to take care of our buddy
(assigned kids) and play
with them throughout the
whole activities
During the ice breaking
session, everyone has to
introduce their names
including the kids and
remember everyone names
in the process
After that, everyone will pass
the ball around continuously
until the music stop. The
person with the ball has to
remember the selected
person’s name

During the first aid session, we teach the kids on how to use the first aid
kit to clean the wound if they accidentally injured themselves show them
in a diagram to make it interesting
We come out with an interesting ideas and act as an injured person to
shows the kids an example of how to use the first aid to help each other
to clean the wound

and foldable origami paper
to give the kids to colour as
they love colouring so much
and fold the origami after
colouring

attract the kid’s attention

COMEDY ROLE PLAYING PERFORMANCE

role playing to shows the kids
on what are the character of
each role that is played during
the comedy show
The children are arranged to
be seated like in an airplane
and I acted as a pilot seating
in front of the airplane. I
announced that the plane will
be departing soon
During the scene, the flying
crew distributed snacks and
foods to the passenger (the
kids) when the plane was
departing
One of the passengers
suddenly fainted (Teoh) and
the doctor and nurse were
checking on the patient to
determine his condition

COMEDY ROLE PLAYING PERFORMANCE
In the following scene, my role
is to act as a lawyer to
defence my client who had
been a suspect for robbing
the handbag from the plaintiff
After the end of the scene, we
ask the kids if they know what
are the character involved in
the scene and their duties in
their respective role
We decided to reward them
gifts if they answered correctly
on the characters and their
role play in the scene
We created five different
scene which involved
different characters in each
scene to create awareness of
different careers to the kids

As for the game session, we
come out with a “lava floor”
which means the newspaper
is the only place to stand

As for our scene, we decided to shoot the video at the lift lobby. It wasn’t easy
for us because the lift keeps open and closing. We try the first time but it FAIL
haha, because people keep come in. Hence, I would like to thanks Chin Qi Yu
and Yong Zkang for helping us to take self-reflection video.

REFLECTION
Community service initiative is really a fun and enjoyable
activities to be involved with the kids from the orphanage
home. Although they been through hard time but they still look
happy and joyful to us and we feel glad that they are able to
give us an opportunity to help them by organising activities to
play with them.
I would like to thanks everyone for their efforts in contributing
towards the activities. My role was in charge of controlling the
finances and the budget for the expenses that we need for
the activities. I had to prepare a claiming template to sum
up the total expense from everyone to prepare a financial
report. Besides, we often had meeting almost every week to
discuss on the orphanage home available and organiz e the
activities.
During the planning, we faced some challenges on how to
organize the activities and games. I t wasn’t easy to organize
the activities for the kids as we had to prepare activities that
would benefit and bring knowledge to the kids and abl e to
create awareness for them to achieve their goals in the future.
Therefore, we discuss on coming out with a comedy role with
different careers playing in each scene to show them the
careers and professions in the industry.

We also design an ambitious board for the kids to stick their
papers of their written dreams and ambitions that they wish to
become in the future. I feel that this is a good activity as they
can look back at the ambitious board to remind them of their
ambitions and dreams at any tim e. This will give them
motivations and help them to fulfil their dreams.
For the game session, since we are short of time, we actually
supposed to conduct 2 game session but 1 game instead. The
game is called “Lava Floor” which means there is limited flo or
to stand. We learn that they were actually quite smart as they
were able to answered most of the questions correctly much
to the surprised of us. I am proud that they had fun with
activities.

In my opinion, I found out that the
kids are well discipline in their life
as they were given a duty
everyday to manage and
organize to clean the house. For
an example, when we arrived at
their home, our shoes were not
arranged in order but when the
kids reach home. They arrange their shoes properly and in order in
the shoe rack and also arrange our shoes nicely as well. I felt that
they had actually bring us good values as we bring good value to
them.
Besides, they take their turns to
clean the compound of their
rooms as they were allocated
the place for them to clean. For
an example, they were divided
into 3 rooms and each room
consists of 4 to 5 kids in charge
to clean a particular place such
as library or kitchen. Each time they clean up their rooms, points will
be allocated for each team. I found that they were being raised with
good values and we should be initiative like them. We hope that they
would be successful when they grown up and achieve their goals
and dreams.
