Knossos is a palace that was first discovered in 1878 and excavated first in 1851 for 35 years by Sir
Arthur Evans. The site was occupied roughly around 2000 B.C. The site is located on the island of
Crete in Greece. The site has been destroyed and rebuilt twice due to catastrophes such as
earthquakes, tsunamis, and fire, but its not sure to what is actual natural disaster it was.
Knossos was inhabited by the Minoan civilization and was a very important city–state. The city had
approximately 100,000 citizens. The city of Knossos flourished with trade and commerce with other
cities on the island of Crete. Knossos had flourished until around 1375 B.C.E where a volcano on

dream from science fiction writers such as Michael Crichton, however on the island of New Zealand

the extinct, exotic, flightless bird species of the giant moa (Dinornis, Megalapteryx) (Bunce et al.
2009). Stories of it's glory and extinction of the moa have been passed down from generation to

Britain – In the midst of World War II, a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from Britain was
shot down, killing the pilot. Sadly, many having lost their sanity and consciousness even upon
rescue, it was no more than what one would expect from a group of young boys having to fend for
themselves.
These unfortunate schoolboys consisting of approximately twenty–five boys all under the young age
of twelve, were found by a Navy Officer on an uninhabited island off the coast of the South Pacific
Ocean.

Jobs included hunting, gathering, building shelter, and most importantly keeping the fire burning for
a smoke signal. "That was the most important thing, to keep the fire going. Without the fire there
would be no smoke and without smoke there wouldn't have been any way for someone to rescue

Ralph, being the leader of the group, stated that these civilized and responsible way of their new life
didn't last long after many turned against the group and turned against sanity, starting with one

hold of their own identity and often times turned against each other.

was first the death of Simon, when Ralph realized that the group was capable of almost anything.
Simon, being mistaken for a 'beast', was killed in the boy's mob mentality to kill whatever they were
afraid of. "It was dark no one could see him, it was an accident, I don't believe anybody meant to
harm anyone, but it was still... murder" says Ralph.

Each society was a small kingdom and the leader was called cacique. At the time of Columbus, there
