Prescriptive Knowledge
giving knowledge of result on their performance is once they do the ninety–degree angle, they will
hear a beep sound. This can help them recognize that they have reached their goal. According to a
study on knowledge of performance, the researchers found how the knowledge of results that were
given to much older patients once every five times had a better result at the end of practice than
those that got feedback every time after performing (Nunes, Souza, Basso, Monteiro, Corrêa, and
Santos, 2). From this study, I will use what I read and see how much of a difference they improve.
To give them feedback on their knowledge of performance, I can let them know if their rear end is
sticking out correctly and if their knees are passing their toes. ... Show more content on

Motor learning can be integrated into my faith by seeing how there are types of patients who have
gone through many trials and face obstacles in life. Patients that go to physical therapy can give
them an opportunity to heal and recover from their injuries. Know that I can serve God through this
career helps motivates to do His work and glorify Him. Patients I will meet will have a special
characteristic, and I will design a plan that suits for them. Some patients will probably need verbal
encouragement while other patients will need physical support or various feedbacks. Even though
the patients may differ, I will help them well and show God's love through the actions. We are all
made in the image of God, and I definitely would want each patient to know and understand that
they are special and unique in God's eyes. Life is very special to people and I am sure a lot of people
would want to keep living for a very long time. Even for non–believers, they know life is very
valuable, so whenever an injury occurs, they want to do whatever they can to recover from the
injury so that they can go back to their daily lives. Teaching motor skills to people will give me an
opportunity to spend time with them as well as getting to know them. This will hopefully give me
the chance to speak to them about my faith and tell them how wonderful our God is.

Risk Factors For Sudden Agitations For Adults After Being...
In this clinical report, the study investigates the risk factors for sudden agitations for adults after
being applied anesthesia for urological surgery. The report defined agitation as a "sudden anxious
state" (Kim 2014). The study included the patients' medical history to ensure that the incident of
"emergency agitation" was not linked to the patient. All the patients were undergoing urological
studies. The patients were separated into control and experimental groups. Next, each patient was
given different dosages of anesthesia. Afterwards, medical workers scored each patient from 1–10
on their level of "agitation". The resulting data showed a positive correlation between the amount of
anesthesia applied and the level of agitation in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In this research report, the report investigates the effect of ketamine, alfentanil, and oral midazolam
on preventing agitation in children. Contrary to the previous annotated bibliography, the study
investigates anesthesia that would prevent agitation. The study investigated 78 children undergoing
urological surgery. Each child was randomly assigned 2 mg/kg ketamine, 10 ug/kg alfentanil or 1
mL of isotonic saline intranasally (Bilgen 2014). Researchers then determined the percentage of
times the child would become agitated. The data revealed that agitation decreased most for the
group applied with ketamine, and the least for the group applied with isotonic saline. Therefore, the
study concludes that applying ketamine is most effective for reducing agitation. Nevertheless, all
three anesthesia reduced agitation in children, albeit, in random amounts.
The study's strength were measuring a large sample (78 children), using different types of anesthesia
to reduce agitation, and randomly assigning different anesthesia to different children. One of the
flaws was limiting the study only to children. The study does not include how anesthesia would
affect the general population. This study is relevant to my research because it presents an example
of the benefits of anesthesia, showing

Physician Chart Completion Analysis
Physician Chart Completion
I worked with Luis Ortiz in the Physician Chart Completion area for the first half of my second day.
Luis was very welcoming even though Wednesdays' are a challenge for him. Every Wednesday he
gets a list of deficient charts ready for the director of HIM, analysis staff and the resident
coordinator. Luis asked me to take a seat for a few minutes while he gathered his report. This was
perfect for me, it gave me a chance to work on my hospital profile work and I prepared my
questions for him during this time. Once he was ready for me, he opened Care Connection to show
me the list of discharges he needed to work on. He opened random discharge summaries to show me
what components of a patient's record he focuses on as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

software. Mr. Bodunde first gave me an indebt explanation of what his duties and responsibilities
are and the expectation management has for production. Once introductions were complete, he
proceeded to code. Mr. Bodunde is an outpatient coder who codes Emergency Room charts as well
as Obstetrics/Gynecology. He coded a few charts to show me how to use 3M to code and let me take

experience. I was able to capture clinical data from the patient charts with 80% accuracy with his
guidance. Once I gained momentum I was able to move quicker through the charts. We started with
the Obstetrics charts and worked our way to the ER charts. The ER charts were a bit more complex
since more clinical data needed to be captured to tell the story. I had Mr. Bodunde code a handful
charts with the ER charts before I took

The Theory Of Caring For Someone Is More Than Just Saying...
Theory of Caring Caring for someone is more than just saying the words that you care. It is about
putting actions into play and showing that someone you care for them. Nurses must care for patients
through every shift and be knowledge able about the care that is best suited for that particular
person. Kristen Swanson developed the 'Theory of Caring' in order to explain what is means exactly
to provide care to patients in a nursing manner. Swanson defines caring as "a nurturing way of
relating to a valued other toward whom one feels a personal sense of commitment and
responsibility" (Masters, 2016, p. 76). Nurses must gain a relationship of trust between them and
their patient's so that they can communicate and provide the best care they can for their patient.
Birgitta Andershed and Kristina Olsson acknowledged that Swanson developed five caring
processes for a caring relationship that include: knowing, being with, doing for, enabling, and
maintaining belief (Andershed, Olsson, 2009). Andershed and Olsson stated that Swanson believed
that knowing is the starting point for understanding and gaining that trusting relationship with the
patient about their particular situation. Listening and looking for cues in the patient will help
determine the care needed for the patient as well as prevent any errors from occurring. Humans do
not like being in a state that puts them in a position that they cannot take care of themselves,
therefore, it is important for nurses to be able to be

Evaluation Of The Psychiatric Emergency Room
Anna's stay
The average stay in my unit, the psychiatric emergency room, is typically anywhere from four hours
to twenty four hours. One patient recently broke the record with her stay being close to two weeks.
This was a major concern for our unit as placement for her was difficult to find and staff had never
dealt with a stay this long in the past. This particular patient's story was heart breaking. The patient
(I will call her Anna) was a foster child who had been bounced around from home to home. Her
most recent foster family was an elderly couple who was well–to–do and took care of the patient in
their 1.2 million dollar home. Unfortunately, this child had some major behavioral issues and
oppositional defiant disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing. Therefore, her foster family
finally had enough and dropped the child off to our unit. She was a very challenging patient and her
patience was being tested as a result of her long stay– as well as the nursing staff's patience. A
typical day working with this patient usually included the patient ending up in restraints. Restraints
were a daily occurrence for her. She spent the majority of her stay in the secure core. The secure
core is an area in the psychiatric emergency room that includes three rooms and a small nursing
station. The secure core is reserved for patients that pose a risk for themselves or for patients that are
psychotic and have lost touch with reality. The

Patience Analysis
What is patience? Patience means the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering
without getting upset or angry. My sister, Natalie, and I had a normal relationship we fight like
every other pair of siblings do. We normally have very small, stupid fights over things that do not
matter. For some reason that day I did not have any patience at all and then it all happened. On a
beautiful, hot day in August 2011, my grandfather, father, mother, brother, sister, and I all began our
day of work. Natalie and I had been in argument over who got to sit in the "good" chair in the rusty
corn building next to the grain bins. As I got angrier, I began to walk out the window–pane door
suddenly my eyes filled with tears. I looked down and saw the gushing blood but I did not feel any
pain. After I saw the blood I let out a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

while I sat there holding my arm. After waiting impatiently for about thirty minutes I finally got put

to make it even more numb. The smell of the sterile room gave me a headache but I began to feel
drowsy. After two hours I left the hospital with twenty–one stitches. The next week school started
but the fun part had been when I got to sit out of p.e.. After a few weeks my mom checked me out of
school to take me to get my stitches out. When we got to the doctor's office I went to a room. Many
of the nurses congratulated me on being able to withstand the pain of having twenty–one stitches. I
felt a little sting like a needle pricking me as she cut the stitches out. After she cut them out she
realized some did not fully healed so she put a small bandage over them and finally I got to

Millennials In The Workplace
Millennials In The Workplace
The only people who need to be motivated are those who cannot see a future. Simon Sinek on
"Millennials in the Workplace" was one of the most depressing and it the same time thought
provoking talks I have ever listened to in a long time. Simon O. Sinek is a British/American author,
motivational speaker and marketing consultant, he is the author of three books, and has his own
business "Sinek Partners." In Sinek's interview, he introduces four reasons why he believes so many
millennials are unhappy at work: Parenting, technology, impatience and environment. Sinek says
millennials are tough to manage and that they want what every generation before them wanted but
the only difference is that millennials are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Which bring us to Sinek's other point 'impatience' and how millennials expect instant gratification
and instant praise from doing minimal work.
Millennials are faced with a challenge of "instant gratification", Sinek suggests that millennials can
have whatever they want whenever they want. Personally, I believe he is missing a key point; most
young people have been impatient since the beginning of time. "Worst case scenario is we're seeing
an increase in suicide rates. The best case scenario is you have an entire population growing up and
going through life and just never really finding joy, they'll never really find deep, deep fulfillment in
work or in life." In my view, the fact that most young people have impatience is a good thing; they
will have the drive to help change the world. I happen to believe there is far too much patience in
the workplace and school right now. We keep teaching young adults the same thing repeatedly
instead of speeding up the process and teaching them to move forward and wanting to complete
tasks faster is a good thing. I was impatient in my current job and kept pushing for what I wanted
and was promoted to a management position in less than a year of working for the company,
bypassing that have worked there for year who were patiently waiting for an opportunity to fall into
their laps. The world is changing now and we need to change with it.

Sample Resume : Patient Kiosk Center
Scope Statement
Project Title: Patient Kiosk Center
Date: 10/08/2014 Prepared by: Sri Maurya Kummamuru
Project Team Name: Team–H
Project Summary:
The Project will install kiosks to help speed up the process of registration for patients. The kiosks
will enable patients to check in, sign forms and scan insurance cards all by themselves. These kiosk
systems also reduce the workload on the registration personnel, who can help patients with more
complicated registration, payment or other requirements and reduce the long–run costs of the
hospital(Rhoads & Drazen, 2009). The project will begin with identifying the most accessible places
for the patients in the hospital. After identifying the most appropriate place for installing the system,
the project will move forward with purchasing and installing the Kiosk systems. This is followed by
rigorous testing in terms of software reliability, hardware functionality, privacy testing, integration
testing and usability testing of the systems resulting in modifications or repositioning of them. The
project must also include a video tutorial to familiarize the registration personnel of the system's
functionality. The implementation, testing and training ends the project.
Project Justification:
The project benefits multiple stake holders classified into the following three types:
1. Patients: Patients have to stand in big lines to check in through the receptionist, who will take the
forms from the patients and enter the data into the

1. How did Payne's testimony compare with that of Ann Eggley and Patience Kershaw? Mr. Payne's
testimony contrasted all the points that Ann Eggley and Patience Kershaw made in their testimonies.
Payne first said that children started work at age 8, yet Eggley began work at age 7. Payne said that
the children worked for 6–7 hours per day, yet Eggley worked 12 hours constantly, starting at 4am;
except on Saturdays. Kershaw worked 12 hours also, starting at 5am. Payne believed that "'[the
children were] not ill–used or worked beyond their strength'", yet Eggley said "'the work is far too

The Importance Of Knowledge And Skills A Newly Qualified...
This essay will discuss the qualities, knowledge and skills a newly qualified nurse is expected to
possess whilst looking after a male patient who is bedbound. Namely, the essay focusses on the 6C's
of NHS Careers guide which are care, compassion, competence, communicaiton, courage and
commitment.
Adult Nursing is a challenging yet rewarding occupation whereby nurses are expected to perform to
the highest standard possible to provide excellent care for a range of adults of all ages and health
conditions. Nurses must follow a code of conduct provided by the Nursing and Midwifery Council
(NMC) to ensure a high level of care is maintained for the patients and their family's satisfaction.
The nurse must be able to show characteristics and qualities of a good nurse i.e. "as a nurse you are
a listener, a manager and a knowledgeable skilled professional" (NHS Careers, 2015). Looking after
a bedbound patient may be particulary challenging as you have to consider your patients needs
which will require you to use all aspects of your nursing knowledge and skills. "You will also need
to have the right values and behaviours to become a nurse. These are defined by the 6C's: Care,
Compassion, Competence, Communicaiton, Courage and Commitment" (NHS Careers, 2015).
A bedbound patient is an adult who is confined to a bed due to a health condition, accident or
disabilty which consequently prevents them from being able to carry out every day tasks which are
considered to be normal without

Patience In Macbeth
The seemingly lost virtue of patience happens to be one of the most important qualities to determine
a person's outcome in life. Both main characters in Macbeth and "Thank You Ma'am" struggle to
grasp the importance of patience. However, the results of their flaws of this trait are immensely
different. The stories of Macbeth and "Thank You Ma'am" have strikingly similar themes of needing
patience, despite the different eras in which they were written. In Macbeth, the main character,
Macbeth, is unable to resist the temptation of having the throne, but during this quest he becomes
mentally insane. Early on in the story, he hears of his prophecy to become king. The witches that tell
him of this prophecy say, "All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His desire to steal the purse was driven by the strong want to buy blue suede shoes. This desire of
the shoes can be compared to Macbeth's desire of the throne. Both characters did evil deeds to reach
their ultimate goal. Roger, however, is unable to successfully steal the purse and learns an important
lesson through his failure. After Roger's failed attempt, the story explains the woman's initial
actions, "... she reached down, picked the boy up by his shirt front, and shook him until his teeth
rattled" (Hughes, 1). This quote shows her aggressive behavior that masked her knowledgeable and
caring personality. Roger is made to go back to her house to clean up and have a meal. The theme of
patience is learned during his visit to her house, "The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was
going to run now, nor did she watch her purse which she left behind her on the day–bed. But the boy
took care to sit on the far side of the room where he thought she could easily see him out of the
corner of her eye" (Hughes, 3). This quote expresses the amount of respect and trust built by both
Roger and the woman in this short amount of time. She later explains to him that she understands
his motive to steal as she has done wrongful deeds as well. She finished her talk with him by saying,
"And next time, do not make the mistake of latching onto

He first gains this pride when revealing his true name to Polyphemus after escaping the cave.
"...who blinded you, shamed you so – say Odysseus, / raider of cities, he gouged your eye..."
(Homer 9.560 – 561). This quote shows that Odysseus wanted Polyphemus to know who conquered
him, so Odysseus' legacy will become even greater. Another instance when Odysseus displays his
pride is when he is overconfident in his ability to lose minimal lives from the sea monsters Scylla
and Charybdis. "Deadly Charybdis – can't I possibly cut and run from her and still fight Scylla off
when Scylla strikes my men?" (Homer 12.124 – 125). This quote exhibits that Odysseus has slightly
too much pride, so much so that he believes he will be able to outsmart the deadly trap of Scylla and
Charybdis. This ends up to prove disastrous for Odysseus, as he arms himself despite Circe's
instructions to not do so. This action resulted in Odysseus losing his best six men. Finally, Odysseus
is shown to have even more pride than ever previously after he strings the bow and is about to kill
the suitors. "No missing the mark, look, and no long labor spent / to string the bow. My strength's

Characteristics Of Caring For Patients
Characteristics of Caring
The first characteristic of caring deals with a healing interaction between the nurse and patient that
leads to a therapeutic outcome. The outcome is therapeutic when a patient remains autonomous.
Often times, this is hindered because a person seeks out healthcare when they can no longer manage
their symptoms on their own (Lindberg, Fagerstrom, Sivberg, & Willman, 2014). In order for this
healing interaction to take place, a nurse must recognize that the patient has rights to their own
views, values, and beliefs. The nurse must remain open to the patient's needs in order to
accommodate them effectively. Caring for patients by healing interactions can also be considered
complete according to Ranheim, Karner, & ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of this include giving a patient an injection of heparin after breaking a hip or asking a co–
worker to put a gown on in an isolation room. It is crucial that a nurse be competent and caring
enough to explain the purpose of what we do in a respectful manner.
Antecedents and Consequences
Antecedents
According to Brilowski & Wendler (2005), the main antecedent of caring was the amount of time a
nurse has to care. High patient to staff ratios make it hard to a nurse to care for a patient in a way
that provides holistic healing. Consequently, dissatisfaction occurs for the patient and they may
perceive this lack of attention as a lack of caring from the nurse.
Consequences
Consequences to caring are generally positive. The main consequence is increased health and
healing for the patient (Brilowski & Wendler, 2005). Another positive consequence is a feeling of
power and autonomy for patients. Finally, the patient's perception of the nurse is positively
influenced as they are now viewed as compassionate, competent, and respectful (Brilowski &
Wendler, 2005).

The Importance Of Fostering Peace And Justice
There are many people who suffer from cognitive disorders such as dementia. The number of people
diagnosed with dementia increases everyday (Gould & Reed, 2009). Those who are diagnosed with
cognitive disorders need extra attention from care givers and require specific needs. Nurses caring
for dementia patients foster peace and justice due to the special care dementia patient's require.
Throughout this paper, the reader will understand how one fosters peace and justice, and how nurses
must foster peace and justice when caring for patients diagnosed with dementia. Fostering peace and
justice is a value recognized by Saint Francis. This value was created based on the teachings of the
Lord and is used to help others serve Him on a daily basis. Those who foster peace and justice, live
a devotional life to God. Fostering peace and justice help to keep the world a better place. Everyone
should incorporate these simple values into their everyday life. Fostering peace simply means to
keep the peace among all. Staying calm and looking at a situation from someone else's perspective
helps one to keep high stress situations peaceful. While fostering peace, one does not argue or
manipulate others. Someone fostering peace is not selfish and is willing to help others. "Make every
effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord"
(Hebrews 12:14, New International Version). Fostering peace is important. In the greater scheme of

The Environment Of Psychiatric Facilities, Regional West...
The environment that surrounds an individual is vital to their health and wellbeing. This is
specifically true when considering healing, especially in the hospital environment. A more
appropriate term for this is milieu therapy. Halter (2013) defined this as "a psychiatric philosophy
that involves a secure environment (including people, setting, structure, and emotional climate) to
effect positive change" (p. 677). This paper will discuss the environment of two psychiatric
facilities, Regional West and Behavioral Management, and their effects on patients' mood, behavior,
and anxiety. Regional West is an inpatient facility that provides care to individuals 5 years old and
up. The second floor of the facility is known as the step down unit. ... Show more content on

chairs, as well as, love seats and chairs for seating. Some tables had puzzles laying for the patient's

time. At times the volume would increase due to the several different disciplines of health care
professionals collaborating together. The patients kept the noise volume down while in the main
seating area, although, at times the pediatric floor would get loud when several patients were
surrounded together. There was not a distinctive smell noted at the facility, but it did not seem to
smell like the hand alcohol as much as the main Rapid City Regional hospital. There was also a

Alzheimer's Disease Essay 7
Alzheimer's Disease SOC 313 Katherine Malish February 7, 2011 Alzheimer's Disease Alzheimer's
disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disease that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills.
"Its onset is generally insidious, with gradual deterioration of cognitive function, eventually
resulting death." (Falvo, D. 2009, pg. 226). Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia
among people age 65 and older. "Nearly 70 percentages of all dementias are Alzheimer's, and over
4.5 million Americans have Alzheimer's."(www.alz.org). This disease is not just a disease that

While caring for patients with Alzheimer's the first thing I learned was that each patient experiences
Alzheimer's differently. Each day was a new experience for me, and when caring for a patient with
Alzheimer's there's no one way to care for them. As a caregiver it is important to find effective and
simple solutions that work for you. The facility had five units that were set up by the stages of the
disease. I was assigned to unit D which was the unit for patient that suffered with moderately severe
to very severe stages of Alzheimer's. I was assigned to six to eight patients each shift. My duties
were to provide daily care such as, activities, bathing, grooming, feeding, and transporting patients
to and from bed. When caring for patients that are in the moderately or late stage of Alzheimer's you
really have to care for them as if they were a small child. When bathing a patient I learned to have
all my products ready and available to make bathing time simpler. It is very important to make sure
the bathroom is warm and that the bathroom is equip with a grab bar it helps if the patient has the
urge to hold on, and it prevents fidgeting. It's also important to use a different washcloth for bathing,

With Waiting Comes Reward Good things will come as long as you can be patient. Patience shows
through the texts The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, The People
Could Fly by Virginia Hamilton, and Invictus by William Earnest Henly. Patience is key. As long as
you can be patient, you can get through any situation. The first example of patience is Mr. Frank
from The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett. The Diary of Anne Frank
tells a story about a young girl with a diary living in an Annex, trying to hide from Nazis so she
doesn't have to go to forced labor and death camps. On page 430, Mr. Frank says, " If we wait
patiently, quietly, I believe that help will come." Because Mr. Frank is being the patient one he will
be able to make it through tough times. Mr. Frank stayed strong and waited, so he may make it

The People Could Fly tells a story about slaves who worked all day long but they stayed patient and
had hope, yet they were able to escape. On page 361, it says, " Hadn't the time to teach them to fly,
they must wait for a chance to run." I chose this quote because Toby tells them if they can be patient
long enough they will get their chance to get away. The others will wait and eventually get away,
which shows patience. Finally the last example of patience is Invictus by William Earnest Henley.
Invictus tells a story about a man determined never to change his will or his fate. On line 11, he
says, " and yet the menace of the years." Menace means to be threatened, so over the years he must
have been threatened a lot. I believe that the quote means you can over come any obstacle with
enough patience. Another quote I found that supports my theme is, on line 13, " It matters not how
straight the gate." This means he has slim chances, but I believe that with patience he can defeat the
low odds and make it through hard

Journey Of Being Kind Analysis
The Journey of Being Patient Being kind is a task everyone is challenged with each day but many
people never seem to master kindness. Kindness is an emotion that is giving off to others as being
polite and considering others whether you know them or not. Kindness is a characteristic that is only
felt or seen by others. Kindness is a form of love that someone can express towards somebody and
will either be excepted or denied. The importance of kindness is to see that being kind is the right
thing to do in any situation no matter the anger or frustration. Kindness is needed in order to show
love and happiness to others and also shows that you respect a relation with someone. If you drown

Although I see myself as a kind, polite, and generous person my toughest battle is being impatient.
My struggle with being impatient definitely comes from my father as that is all I was ever shown. I
get along with everyone and I am well liked with many friends ,but when I am wronged I always
feel the need to retaliate. My impatience is the biggest problem I see wrong with myself which
makes me feel disgusted with myself because I crush others hearts when I retaliate. There is a
constant pain when I hurt others and shows my lack of self control. One time my little brother that is
fourteen now and I were cleaning the house. I gave my brother a order of things to clean and I had
my own. I saw he was taking a lot of breaks and not doing a very good job scrubbing the white
cabinets. I grabbed him and yelled at him telling him that he was lazy as hell and that his cleaning
looked like crap. He was upset and wanted to retaliate but knew he didn't have a chance. I then
calmed down after a bit and saw myself acting just as my father would towards my brother. I had
just demonstrated to my dad what I always hated. I felt awful and selfish for my actions. I then went
to him and apologized and told his how sorry I was. My actions and anger towards him that day
really showed me I had a problem with patience and could do better. I saw that nothing would
change if I didn't

Summary Of Beauty And The Beast
Jeanne–Marie LePrince de Beaumont was a French Author that lived from April 1711– September
1780 in France. Her most well–known story is her version of "Beauty and the Beast" that was the
base for the 1991 film, "Beauty and the Beast". In Jeanne–Marie's version of Beauty and the Beast
there is a rich merchant with six children who ends up losing all his money. On one of his job trips
he causes trouble with the Beast. Beauty takes his place as prisoner and in due time ends up falling
in love with the Beast. Jeanne–Marie is able to continue her theme of being humble in the version of
a love story with a protagonist, Beauty, who remains virtuous throughout the entire story, and the
antagonists are Beauty's sisters who care too much about having money. The protagonist is Beauty
and remains the protagonist throughout the story. She gained her name "when she was little
everybody admired her and called her 'the little Beauty'" (LePrince de Beaumont, page 1) and kept
the name growing up which aroused the beginning of jealousy that her older sisters have towards
her. Even in the story, it is revealed that the father felt "Beauty outshone her sisters, in her person as
well as her mind, and admired her humility and industry, but above all her humility and patience"
(LePrince de Beaumont, page 2). Her humility is shown in the story as she does not let the fortune
get in her head, especially after losing it. The characteristic industry shows through as she would do

In the study conducted by Lin et al.(2010), researchers investigated the utilization and validity of
assessment instrumentation for the purpose of quantifying patient–pharmacist interactions involving
herbal and dietary supplementation. The purpose of the study was to develop a format of evaluation

The overall goal of these counseling sessions was to assess the quality and accuracy of pharmacist's
patient counseling of herbal and supplemental products. The initial pilot study was of small scale
and 20 out of 34 pharmacists completed the PC–G/ PC–HDS centered counseling sessions with their
pharmacist. The pharmacists recruited for these initial sessions were selected based on their having a
variety of experience with counseling patients on the use of herbal and supplemental products. The
subsequent study, which was larger in scale was conducted using pharmacists that had professional
experience in counseling patients and knowledge of herbal and supplemental products. 179 out of
330 patients completed the validation large scale study (Lin et al., 2010).
Parameters were set for the pharmacists, to guide the patient counseling interactions. Patient
interviews were designed as both study specific knowledge, attitude, & behavior (KAB) surveys as
well as Likert– type surveys. Specific counseling dialogue was expected to be centered around three
main categories of patient interviewing, as set by APhA and other literature. These categories
included "fostering relationships/ information gathering, assessment and plan/follow– up" (Lin et al.
, 2010). Ultimately, there were eleven items that fell under the three main categories that guided the
pharmacists further in their line of questioning.

Epicurus Vs Aristotle
What's the one thing everyone wants to achieve in life and is the ultimate end for every action
people do? Philosophers from almost every generation are trying to figure out what that is, some
even referring to it as "the good". But what is "the good"? Epicurus would argue that "the good" is
simply pleasure, honor, and glory; however, that is not the ultimate end for every action people do.
According to Aristotle, the ultimate end that every action seeks is happiness and that's "the good"
everyone desires. The idea of happiness being the ultimate end, is superior to Epicurus's idea of
pleasure, honor, and glory, due to the fact that all those things are intended to bring forth some form
of happiness. Therefore, happiness must be what everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

them a better person overall. Happiness after all is "the good" that philosophers have been trying to

Evaluation Of A Patient With Mental Status
Last week I was at the hospital, doing my usual clinical rotations. I was assigned a patient who was
admitted to the hospital for altered mental status. I was a bit scared to work with this patient because
I was never exposed to people who are not mentally stable. When I came to see my patient for the
first time, I saw that he was accompanied by a woman who told me she was the aid who was
working with him. I was surprised to see that the patient was curled up in the bed and not moving.
She explained to me that the patient was legally blind and also had dementia. She also said that he
was somewhat combative to the doctors and nurses because of his unfamiliar surroundings and

I was also chosen by my clinical instructor to administer medications that day. I waited for the
professor to come around and sure enough, all the medications which were to be taken by mouth,
had to be crushed and administered that way. He was receiving anticonvulsants and also antiseizure
medications. We crushed all the medications and mixed them into some of his pudding. When I
came to give him the spoon of pudding, he was asleep. I gently awoke him and told him that I had
his pudding. I tried putting the spoon in his mouth and he pushed my hand away. Then, the aid got
up and tried holding his hands and telling him that it was good for him and he would get ice cream
after this. I finally got half the spoon in his mouth and just when I thought he took the pudding, he
spit out the entire thing onto his shirt and arm and started wiping the pudding off his mouth with his
sheet. My clinical instructor told me to stop trying and that he would get the nurse to try and finish
giving him what was left.
I was having a lot of thoughts and emotions while this episode was unfolding. There was of course
the fear of the patient that everyone in the hospital was trying to hurt him, and there was also my
fear that if he would not get his anti–seizure medications, he would seize in the next few hours and
that would be my fault. I also did not like the response of my clinical instructor to the whole
situation. Instead

Patience In Disney World
"It takes great patience and love in order to make the kind of progress that benefits everyone."
(Mashos) Patience is a needed characteristic in today's society. An example of patience would be my
trip to Disney World when I was seven years old. When my parents sprung the surprise that we
would be going to Disney World, the trip itself was still a month and a half out. That month and a
half was the longest of my entire life. I was so excited and it seemed so far away. Finally the day
came and I woke up a ball of sunshine, "Everyone wake up! It's Disney day, it's Disney day!" We
packed our bags frantically figuring out what was important to bring and what was not, and then we
drove to the airport with the anticipation buzzing in the air. Meanwhile at the airport we proceeded
to wait an additional hour to get through security and wait for the plane to be ready to board. On the
plane we flew for 3 hours and landed in Orlando, Florida, which is a relatively short drive from
Disney World itself. My family and I were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and the hundreds if not thousands of people we saw. We had no idea what patience was until we
actually attempted to ride some of those rides. There was a jungle safari ride in which we could go
on a boat on a man made river and hear a story and see some wildlife. We were weaving back and
forth through rope barriers listening to the conversations of people around us as we dutifully
awaited our turn, like soldiers preparing for battle. Meanwhile the actual ride was maybe ten to
fifteen minutes long. The wait was excruciating, but after we got on the ride, we saw why it was
such a tedious wait, the memory later on was worth

Patience In Romeo And Juliet
"A wise man does not try to hurry history. Many wars have been avoided by patience and many
have been precipitated by reckless haste " says Adlai Stevenson, a former UN Ambassador who had
to work with people from many different backgrounds and get them to agree on sensitive topics.
These enlightened words from Stevenson can easily relate to the love story of Romeo and Juliet, a
story that tells the tale of two young teenagers who become lovestruck over one another the minute
they lay their eyes upon one another. The young couple desperately wants to get married, but their
feuding families, the Capulets and the Montagues, are in their way. Romeo and Juliet tragically

Either thou or I or both must go with him!" (3.1.133–134). The play makes clear that the death of
Romeo's best friend pushed him into letting haste control his actions, which led him to kill Tybalt. It
illustrates how anytime a decision is made in a hasty manner, it will lead to worse outcome. In my
past, I was in a friendship were I was enraged about some of the things that one of my friends was
saying to me and my friends. I became impatient and didn't want to try to work things out, which led
me to ending the friendship. If I would have had more patience and tried to manage the problem, it
may have prevented the awkwardness that still exists between us to this day and could have allowed
the friendship to stay. Another example from the story that illustrated haste is the passage,
"Thursday is near. Lay hand on heart. Advise. If you be mine, I'll give you to my friend. If you be
not, hang! Beg! Starve! Die in the streets!" (3.5.203–204). Shakespeare continues to present how the
characters like Lord and Lady Capulet reacted with more rashness and how their rashness continued
to negatively impact the outcome. Juliet's parents thought it would be best for her well being to
marry her off since she was upset about the death of her cousin Tybalt. They ended up pushing her
into a situation she didn't want to be in without consulting

Improving The Patient Experience : The Beryl Institute
Improving the Patient Experience The Beryl Institute is a global community that dedicates itself to
improving the patient experience through shared knowledge and collaboration. Studies conducted
by this institution find that giving voice to ideas through multiple avenues offers tremendous power.
According to Jason A. Wolf, Ph.D., who is the Executive Director of The Beryl Institute, providing
patients and staff members various avenues to voice their opinions and ideas creates the core of
excellent patient experience in and of itself. Encourage Patients to Communicate During Common
Interactions Improving the patient experience requires a critical dialog. This dialog needs to be
encouraged and fostered because when every voice is heard, the patient experience is impacted the
most. Organizations that incorporate their patients as essential partners in their own care ensure that
their patients receive the best quality care and service. Promote Staff Participation in Improving the
Work Environment Provide your staff with the means to actively contribute to a continuously
improving environment. Allow them to speak–up and offer their ideas, even those that challenge the
status quo, because this can lead to important changes and great improvements in the delivery of
care. Engage the Community Engaging the community through focused outreach and a strong

Medical Assistant Externship Experience
Over the last few weeks, I have had the opportunity to experience some of the best and most
difficult times of being a medical assistant. I have had hands on experience with patients of all

physically and mentally, as well as the importance of family and friends. DePaul Medical Center

The Specific Setting Therapeutic Use Of Self
In this specific setting therapeutic use of self is a key to treat the patients and reach their individual
goals, the knowledge acquired goes hand to hand with the therapist characteristics as a person, the
empathy, respect, sensitivity, and personality in general has to be beneficial for the patients and
appropriate for the specific environment, knowing how to behave and how to apply this personal
characteristics to therapy leads to extraordinary outcomes which benefits the patients and makes
them build a stronger trust with the therapist (Early, 2009).
The three types of dependence are detrimental dependence, which is excessive dependence by the
patient on the health professional. Constructive dependence, which is more productive, and Self –
dependence, which is the ability to depend on oneself, to identify and solve one's own problems
(Early, 2009). In this particular setting the dependence demonstrated by the patients is constructive
dependence, most of the patients were productive and only relied on the staff in situations that they
are not capable of manage by them–self.
On a violent attempt or insult by a patient, the first thing to do is realize your limitations and know
when you are capable of handle things and when to look for help, there are some ways to calm a
patient such as: listen to what is bothering the patient, acknowledge the patients concern, keep some
physical distance between you and the patient, speak softly but demonstrate control over the

Gap Model Approach Towards Measuring Customer Satisfaction
Introduction This report is based on The Northern Breast Screening Unit (NBSU) and its aim is to
critically evaluate the use of the GAP model approach towards measuring customer satisfaction. It
will further explain the advantages and disadvantages of this tool for managers to measure service
delivery at NBSU. Further, it will assess the quality of the service which is being provided by
NBSU based upon the results of their recent patient satisfaction survey. Furthermore, it will
compare and contrast the different perceptions of the service received by the two patient groups. It
will also explore how the three staff members differ in their understanding of the patient's priorities
and perceptions. Finally, recommendations will be made to NBSU management to help improve
their service quality management. Gap Models A GAP model approach refers to the following five
Gaps of service quality in operations in which a Gap Model is split. (Parasuraman et al, 1985). Gap
number one, positioning, is where the customer's expectations of the organisation versus what are
the management perceptions of these customer expectations. Gap number two, specification, is
when management perceptions of the customer's expectations versus the design of service
specification. Gap number three, delivery, is the service designed for customers versus the actual
service being delivered to the customer. Gap number four, communication, is the service being

The Function Of Student Nurse
Monday, October 19th: Today I was at Moses Cone renal floor in the role of student nurse. I had two

had not had before, and she was admitted because her salivary glands were swollen and infected.
My past patient went to hemodialysis at 7:45 right after I got report and introduced myself to her as
my student nurse. I was able to go see her in hemodialysis. The nurse who was working with her
explained to me who hemodialysis works. He had a little bit of a cultural/language barrier and it was

She was on a dysphagia 1 diet and was receiving her pills crushed in applesauce. She wasn't
tolerating it well because it was so bitter. Since I observed her eating her breakfast without any
problems, and since the order to crush her pills was a nursing order, we tried her on swallowing pills
with water. She did really well with this, so I spoke with her nurse about changing her order. This
nursing intervention we implemented deals specifically with learning outcome #2 which talks about
analyzing nursing interventions as they relate to health promotion in the older adult. The
intervention we implemented promoted our patient's comfort and also led to decreased gagging and
greater adherence to taking medications. Another less critical intervention I implemented were daily
cares such as bathing, ambulating, and changing her gown. These were also interventions for
comfort and that contributed to the patient feeling better about herself which will lead to healing.
My personal goals for this week at Moses Cone were: I will help another student with one of their

Bedside Handover Using Isbar Frameworks
Bedside handover using ISBAR frameworks has proven in promotion of patient satisfaction,
especially for the patient's safety. However, there are some barriers that were identified in the
effectiveness of bedside handover. These barriers may involve different factors such as
environmental and human.
Thus, this literature review will be focusing on various themes on the effectiveness of bedside
handover using ISBAR, which will then be compared and contrasted; and the most common barriers
to effective bedside handover will be explored.
The question that has been formulated is why is bedside handover with ISBAR considered to be the
safest and most effective form of handover, and what are the common barriers that limit its
execution in the clinical arena?
It has been proven that bedside handover with ISBAR has provided a safety transition and met
patient's satisfaction that gives more opportunity to clarify information (ACSQHC 2012). Although,
bedside handover with ISBAR is strictly implemented, there are difficulties in the application due to
'changes in complex social practices' of nurses that somehow limits its uptake (ACSQHC 2012,
cited in Jeffcott, Evans & Cameron 2009). This literature review sought to study the rationale as to
the effectiveness of bedside handover with ISBAR framework in clinical settings; and to identify the
common barriers to effective communication in bedside handover.

Twelve Angry Men Character Analysis
The way one person treats another is often a direct reflection of how they view themselves. People
with poor self–images are often quick to judge, demean, belittle, and rebuke others for their
mistakes, shortcomings and flaws, simply out of spite or to protect their own reputation. This is true
even in the 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men, where eleven of the twelve jurors attempt to
convict a young man not based off of sound evidence, but off of personal prejudice and self–
righteousness alone. It was the leadership of the eighth juror, however, that convinced the other
jurors to set aside their personal biases to acquit the young man accused of killing his father. In the
film, the eighth juror, Mr. Davis, analyzes the self–images of the other eleven jurors and displays the
core values of humility, patience and mercy in order to lead the group to the consensus that the
accused is not guilty.
The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines humility as "the quality or state of being humble" and
"freedom from pride or arrogance". Humility, simply put, is the opposite of prejudice. In the film,
many of the jurors enter the room with preconceived notions, falsified beliefs and irrational ideas
about the accused. Others enter the room unsure of their vote and to protect their pride, immediately
side with the jurors who believe the young man is guilty. Examples of this include how several of
the jurors stereotype the accused on the basis of race and how the third juror in particular forms a
bias against the young man simply because of his
age and the fact that the young man reminds him of his son. Mr. Davis, however, takes another
stance. In the book The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing and Take Command of Your
Life, Dr. Bernard Roth states that "true mindfulness is seeing without judging" (Roth 205). Mr.
Davis perfectly models this quote as he approaches the issue with sympathy towards the young man
in regard to his upbringing. On an analytical level, the screenplay convincingly moves the audience
to side with Mr. Davis through the use of honest dialogue that allows viewers to put their trust in
what Mr. Davis says. The validity of Mr. Davis' claims also stems from the profile of his character
crafted by the

particular day the office was understaffed. I was in the radiograph room taking radiographs. I
captured the radiographs of about 30 patients. At four bitewings a piece, that's a lot of pictures. I
was able to do it in a timely manner. I was fine with it though because I needed more practice on my

Effects Of Alzheimer's On The Patients, Family Members And...
The topic of this article is about the effects that Alzheimer's has on the patients, family
members/caregivers. I believe there is a grave importance in this topic to help understand the effects
of this disease and possibly help farther research. This might bring a few questions to the front of
this discussion. How the relationship is after a patient is diagnosed with Alzheimer's? How does this
effect the family members/caregivers? What symptoms do family members experience with
Alzheimer's patients? What factors in life play a role in developing this disease? This paper will

How the relationship is after a patient is diagnosed with Alzheimer's? Bilieszner and Shifflett state
there are five time periods in the relationship between the patient and family members. The first
time period is the relationship before Alzheimer's, and that both spouses and the adult children
stated the major roles and activities that they shared with the patients." (Bilieszner, R. & Shifflett, P.
1990) The second time period was the relationship through the first symptoms of Alzheimer's, and
that "the caregivers/family member's reports different strategies used to clarify the changes between
their relationships with the patient. This included looking at the physical change, personality
change, old age, AD, problems in the married, and even menopause." (Bilieszner, R. & Shifflett, P.

Analysis Of The Play ' By Lin Manuel Miranda 's ' Hamilton '
Patiences is a Virtue
In the play created by Lin–Manuel Miranda called "Hamilton" we learn an astounding amount of
different lessons as diverse as from the importance of family to patience. Miranda uses the
characters in the play to convey the importance of patience is a variety of ways. Hamilton,
Washington, and Angelica all have a conflict with patience in this extraordinary play. What
separates each of these characters conflicts with patience is their individualized struggle with the
challenge of patience itself, and their ability or inability to successfully contain the impulse of losing
control which is represented numerous times in the play.
Alexander Hamilton is portrayed as a young man hungry for the chance to leave his mark on history.
At birth, Hamilton was subject to challenges due to his parents inability to care for him. In the
opening song the introduction of hamilton 's struggle as a child is presented to us through narration.
The play begins, " How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a scotsman...impoverished, in
squalor grow up to be a hero and a scholar"( "Alexander Hamilton" 0:08)? Hamilton's correlation
with patience is so prevalent in this quote because, as you see here, without the patience to
overcome the challenge that an orphan faces such as the absence of a true parent figure, there would
be no story to tell. Hamilton overcomes the odds he faced as a young child and as stated, becomes a
hero and a scholar. Hamilton also shows an inability to

Prescriptive Knowledge

  • 1. Prescriptive Knowledge giving knowledge of result on their performance is once they do the ninety–degree angle, they will hear a beep sound. This can help them recognize that they have reached their goal. According to a study on knowledge of performance, the researchers found how the knowledge of results that were given to much older patients once every five times had a better result at the end of practice than those that got feedback every time after performing (Nunes, Souza, Basso, Monteiro, Corrêa, and Santos, 2). From this study, I will use what I read and see how much of a difference they improve. To give them feedback on their knowledge of performance, I can let them know if their rear end is sticking out correctly and if their knees are passing their toes. ... Patients that go to physical therapy can give them an opportunity to heal and recover from their injuries. Know that I can serve God through this career helps motivates to do His work and glorify Him. Patients I will meet will have a special characteristic, and I will design a plan that suits for them. Some patients will probably need verbal encouragement while other patients will need physical support or various feedbacks. Even though the patients may differ, I will help them well and show God's love through the actions. We are all made in the image of God, and I definitely would want each patient to know and understand that they are special and unique in God's eyes. Life is very special to people and I am sure a lot of people would want to keep living for a very long time. Even for non–believers, they know life is very valuable, so whenever an injury occurs, they want to do whatever they can to recover from the injury so that they can go back to their daily lives. Teaching motor skills to people will give me an opportunity to spend time with them as well as getting to know them. This will hopefully give me the chance to speak to them about my faith and tell them how wonderful our God is. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Risk Factors For Sudden Agitations For Adults After Being... In this clinical report, the study investigates the risk factors for sudden agitations for adults after being applied anesthesia for urological surgery. The report defined agitation as a "sudden anxious state" (Kim 2014). The study included the patients' medical history to ensure that the incident of "emergency agitation" was not linked to the patient. All the patients were undergoing urological studies. The patients were separated into control and experimental groups. Next, each patient was given different dosages of anesthesia. Afterwards, medical workers scored each patient from 1–10 on their level of "agitation". The resulting data showed a positive correlation between the amount of anesthesia applied and the level of agitation in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 5. In this research report, the report investigates the effect of ketamine, alfentanil, and oral midazolam on preventing agitation in children. Contrary to the previous annotated bibliography, the study investigates anesthesia that would prevent agitation. The study investigated 78 children undergoing urological surgery. Each child was randomly assigned 2 mg/kg ketamine, 10 ug/kg alfentanil or 1 mL of isotonic saline intranasally (Bilgen 2014). Researchers then determined the percentage of times the child would become agitated. The data revealed that agitation decreased most for the group applied with ketamine, and the least for the group applied with isotonic saline. Therefore, the study concludes that applying ketamine is most effective for reducing agitation. Nevertheless, all three anesthesia reduced agitation in children, albeit, in random amounts. The study's strength were measuring a large sample (78 children), using different types of anesthesia to reduce agitation, and randomly assigning different anesthesia to different children. One of the flaws was limiting the study only to children. The study does not include how anesthesia would affect the general population. This study is relevant to my research because it presents an example of the benefits of anesthesia, showing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Luis was very welcoming even though Wednesdays' are a challenge for him. Every Wednesday he gets a list of deficient charts ready for the director of HIM, analysis staff and the resident coordinator. Luis asked me to take a seat for a few minutes while he gathered his report. This was perfect for me, it gave me a chance to work on my hospital profile work and I prepared my questions for him during this time. Mr. Bodunde is an outpatient coder who codes Emergency Room charts as well as Obstetrics/Gynecology. He coded a few charts to show me how to use 3M to code and let me take over. I have to say the basics that were instilled in me in coding class came in handy for this experience. I was able to capture clinical data from the patient charts with 80% accuracy with his guidance. Once I gained momentum I was able to move quicker through the charts. We started with the Obstetrics charts and worked our way to the ER charts. The ER charts were a bit more complex since more clinical data needed to be captured to tell the story. I had Mr. Bodunde code a handful charts with the ER charts before I took ... • 4. The Theory Of Caring For Someone Is More Than Just Saying... Theory of Caring Caring for someone is more than just saying the words that you care. It is about putting actions into play and showing that someone you care for them. Nurses must care for patients through every shift and be knowledge able about the care that is best suited for that particular person. Kristen Swanson developed the 'Theory of Caring' in order to explain what is means exactly to provide care to patients in a nursing manner. Swanson defines caring as "a nurturing way of relating to a valued other toward whom one feels a personal sense of commitment and responsibility" (Masters, 2016, p. 76). Nurses must gain a relationship of trust between them and their patient's so that they can communicate and provide the best care they can for their patient. Birgitta Andershed and Kristina Olsson acknowledged that Swanson developed five caring processes for a caring relationship that include: knowing, being with, doing for, enabling, and maintaining belief (Andershed, Olsson, 2009). Andershed and Olsson stated that Swanson believed that knowing is the starting point for understanding and gaining that trusting relationship with the patient about their particular situation. Listening and looking for cues in the patient will help determine the care needed for the patient as well as prevent any errors from occurring. Humans do not like being in a state that puts them in a position that they cannot take care of themselves, therefore, it is important for nurses to be able to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Evaluation Of The Psychiatric Emergency Room Anna's stay The average stay in my unit, the psychiatric emergency room, is typically anywhere from four hours to twenty four hours. One patient recently broke the record with her stay being close to two weeks. This was a major concern for our unit as placement for her was difficult to find and staff had never dealt with a stay this long in the past. This particular patient's story was heart breaking. The patient (I will call her Anna) was a foster child who had been bounced around from home to home. Her most recent foster family was an elderly couple who was well–to–do and took care of the patient in their 1.2 million dollar home. Unfortunately, this child had some major behavioral issues and oppositional defiant disorder as a result of her difficult upbringing. Therefore, her foster family finally had enough and dropped the child off to our unit. She was a very challenging patient and her patience was being tested as a result of her long stay– as well as the nursing staff's patience. A typical day working with this patient usually included the patient ending up in restraints. Restraints were a daily occurrence for her. She spent the majority of her stay in the secure core. The secure core is an area in the psychiatric emergency room that includes three rooms and a small nursing station. The secure core is reserved for patients that pose a risk for themselves or for patients that are psychotic and have lost touch with reality. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Patience Analysis What is patience? Patience means the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting upset or angry. My sister, Natalie, and I had a normal relationship we fight like every other pair of siblings do. We normally have very small, stupid fights over things that do not matter. For some reason that day I did not have any patience at all and then it all happened. On a beautiful, hot day in August 2011, my grandfather, father, mother, brother, sister, and I all began our day of work. Natalie and I had been in argument over who got to sit in the "good" chair in the rusty corn building next to the grain bins. As I got angrier, I began to walk out the window–pane door suddenly my eyes filled with tears. I looked down and saw the gushing blood but I did not feel any pain. After two hours I left the hospital with twenty–one stitches. The next week school started but the fun part had been when I got to sit out of p.e.. After a few weeks my mom checked me out of school to take me to get my stitches out. When we got to the doctor's office I went to a room. Many of the nurses congratulated me on being able to withstand the pain of having twenty–one stitches. I felt a little sting like a needle pricking me as she cut the stitches out. • 7. Millennials In The Workplace Millennials In The Workplace The only people who need to be motivated are those who cannot see a future. Simon Sinek on "Millennials in the Workplace" was one of the most depressing and it the same time thought provoking talks I have ever listened to in a long time. Simon O. Sinek is a British/American author, motivational speaker and marketing consultant, he is the author of three books, and has his own business "Sinek Partners." In Sinek's interview, he introduces four reasons why he believes so many millennials are unhappy at work: Parenting, technology, impatience and environment. Sinek says millennials are tough to manage and that they want what every generation before them wanted but the only difference is that millennials are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which bring us to Sinek's other point 'impatience' and how millennials expect instant gratification and instant praise from doing minimal work. Millennials are faced with a challenge of "instant gratification", Sinek suggests that millennials can have whatever they want whenever they want. Personally, I believe he is missing a key point; most young people have been impatient since the beginning of time. "Worst case scenario is we're seeing an increase in suicide rates. The best case scenario is you have an entire population growing up and going through life and just never really finding joy, they'll never really find deep, deep fulfillment in work or in life." In my view, the fact that most young people have impatience is a good thing; they will have the drive to help change the world. I happen to believe there is far too much patience in the workplace and school right now. We keep teaching young adults the same thing repeatedly instead of speeding up the process and teaching them to move forward and wanting to complete tasks faster is a good thing. I was impatient in my current job and kept pushing for what I wanted and was promoted to a management position in less than a year of working for the company, bypassing that have worked there for year who were patiently waiting for an opportunity to fall into their laps. The world is changing now and we need to change with it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Sample Resume : Patient Kiosk Center Scope Statement Project Title: Patient Kiosk Center Date: 10/08/2014 Prepared by: Sri Maurya Kummamuru Project Team Name: Team–H Project Summary: The Project will install kiosks to help speed up the process of registration for patients. The kiosks will enable patients to check in, sign forms and scan insurance cards all by themselves. These kiosk systems also reduce the workload on the registration personnel, who can help patients with more complicated registration, payment or other requirements and reduce the long–run costs of the hospital(Rhoads & Drazen, 2009). The project will begin with identifying the most accessible places for the patients in the hospital. After identifying the most appropriate place for installing the system, the project will move forward with purchasing and installing the Kiosk systems. This is followed by rigorous testing in terms of software reliability, hardware functionality, privacy testing, integration testing and usability testing of the systems resulting in modifications or repositioning of them. The project must also include a video tutorial to familiarize the registration personnel of the system's functionality. The implementation, testing and training ends the project. Project Justification: The project benefits multiple stake holders classified into the following three types: 1. Patients: Patients have to stand in big lines to check in through the receptionist, who will take the forms from the patients and enter the data into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mr. Payne's testimony contrasted all the points that Ann Eggley and Patience Kershaw made in their testimonies. Payne first said that children started work at age 8, yet Eggley began work at age 7. Payne said that the children worked for 6–7 hours per day, yet Eggley worked 12 hours constantly, starting at 4am; except on Saturdays. Kershaw worked 12 hours also, starting at 5am. Payne believed that "'[the children were] not ill–used or worked beyond their strength'", yet Eggley said "'the work is far too hard for me; the sweat runs off me all over sometimes'". • 11. The Importance Of Knowledge And Skills A Newly Qualified... This essay will discuss the qualities, knowledge and skills a newly qualified nurse is expected to possess whilst looking after a male patient who is bedbound. Namely, the essay focusses on the 6C's of NHS Careers guide which are care, compassion, competence, communicaiton, courage and commitment. Adult Nursing is a challenging yet rewarding occupation whereby nurses are expected to perform to the highest standard possible to provide excellent care for a range of adults of all ages and health conditions. Nurses must follow a code of conduct provided by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to ensure a high level of care is maintained for the patients and their family's satisfaction. The nurse must be able to show characteristics and qualities of a good nurse i.e. "as a nurse you are a listener, a manager and a knowledgeable skilled professional" (NHS Careers, 2015). Looking after a bedbound patient may be particulary challenging as you have to consider your patients needs which will require you to use all aspects of your nursing knowledge and skills. "You will also need to have the right values and behaviours to become a nurse. These are defined by the 6C's: Care, Compassion, Competence, Communicaiton, Courage and Commitment" (NHS Careers, 2015). A bedbound patient is an adult who is confined to a bed due to a health condition, accident or disabilty which consequently prevents them from being able to carry out every day tasks which are considered to be normal without ... • 12. Patience In Macbeth The seemingly lost virtue of patience happens to be one of the most important qualities to determine a person's outcome in life. Both main characters in Macbeth and "Thank You Ma'am" struggle to grasp the importance of patience. However, the results of their flaws of this trait are immensely different. The stories of Macbeth and "Thank You Ma'am" have strikingly similar themes of needing patience, despite the different eras in which they were written. In Macbeth, the main character, Macbeth, is unable to resist the temptation of having the throne, but during this quest he becomes mentally insane. Early on in the story, he hears of his prophecy to become king. The witches that tell him of this prophecy say, "All hail, Macbeth, that shalt be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His desire to steal the purse was driven by the strong want to buy blue suede shoes. This desire of the shoes can be compared to Macbeth's desire of the throne. Both characters did evil deeds to reach their ultimate goal. Roger, however, is unable to successfully steal the purse and learns an important lesson through his failure. After Roger's failed attempt, the story explains the woman's initial actions, "... she reached down, picked the boy up by his shirt front, and shook him until his teeth rattled" (Hughes, 1). This quote shows her aggressive behavior that masked her knowledgeable and caring personality. Roger is made to go back to her house to clean up and have a meal. The theme of patience is learned during his visit to her house, "The woman did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did she watch her purse which she left behind her on the day–bed. But the boy took care to sit on the far side of the room where he thought she could easily see him out of the corner of her eye" (Hughes, 3). This quote expresses the amount of respect and trust built by both Roger and the woman in this short amount of time. She later explains to him that she understands his motive to steal as she has done wrongful deeds as well. He first gains this pride when revealing his true name to Polyphemus after escaping the cave. "...who blinded you, shamed you so – say Odysseus, / raider of cities, he gouged your eye..." (Homer 9.560 – 561). This quote shows that Odysseus wanted Polyphemus to know who conquered him, so Odysseus' legacy will become even greater. Another instance when Odysseus displays his pride is when he is overconfident in his ability to lose minimal lives from the sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis. "Deadly Charybdis – can't I possibly cut and run from her and still fight Scylla off when Scylla strikes my men?" (Homer 12.124 – 125). This quote exhibits that Odysseus has slightly too much pride, so much so that he believes he will be able to outsmart the deadly trap of Scylla and Charybdis. This ends up to prove disastrous for Odysseus, as he arms himself despite Circe's instructions to not do so. This action resulted in Odysseus losing his best six men. Finally, Odysseus is shown to have even more pride than ever previously after he strings the bow and is about to kill the suitors. "No missing the mark, look, and no long labor spent / to string the bow. My strength's not broken yet, / not quite so frail as the mocking suitors thought" (Homer 21.474 – 476). • 14. Characteristics Of Caring For Patients Characteristics of Caring The first characteristic of caring deals with a healing interaction between the nurse and patient that leads to a therapeutic outcome. The outcome is therapeutic when a patient remains autonomous. Often times, this is hindered because a person seeks out healthcare when they can no longer manage their symptoms on their own (Lindberg, Fagerstrom, Sivberg, & Willman, 2014). In order for this healing interaction to take place, a nurse must recognize that the patient has rights to their own views, values, and beliefs. The nurse must remain open to the patient's needs in order to accommodate them effectively. Caring for patients by healing interactions can also be considered complete according to Ranheim, Karner, & ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples of this include giving a patient an injection of heparin after breaking a hip or asking a co– worker to put a gown on in an isolation room. It is crucial that a nurse be competent and caring enough to explain the purpose of what we do in a respectful manner. Antecedents and Consequences Antecedents According to Brilowski & Wendler (2005), the main antecedent of caring was the amount of time a nurse has to care. High patient to staff ratios make it hard to a nurse to care for a patient in a way that provides holistic healing. Consequently, dissatisfaction occurs for the patient and they may perceive this lack of attention as a lack of caring from the nurse. Consequences Consequences to caring are generally positive. The main consequence is increased health and healing for the patient (Brilowski & Wendler, 2005). Another positive consequence is a feeling of power and autonomy for patients. Finally, the patient's perception of the nurse is positively influenced as they are now viewed as compassionate, competent, and respectful (Brilowski & Wendler, 2005). (3.1.133–134). The play makes clear that the death of Romeo's best friend pushed him into letting haste control his actions, which led him to kill Tybalt. It illustrates how anytime a decision is made in a hasty manner, it will lead to worse outcome. In my past, I was in a friendship were I was enraged about some of the things that one of my friends was saying to me and my friends. I became impatient and didn't want to try to work things out, which led me to ending the friendship. If I would have had more patience and tried to manage the problem, it may have prevented the awkwardness that still exists between us to this day and could have allowed the friendship to stay. Another example from the story that illustrated haste is the passage, "Thursday is near. Lay hand on heart. Advise. If you be mine, I'll give you to my friend. If you be not, hang! Beg! Starve! Die in the streets!" (3.5.203–204). Shakespeare continues to present how the characters like Lord and Lady Capulet reacted with more rashness and how their rashness continued to negatively impact the outcome. Further, it will assess the quality of the service which is being provided by NBSU based upon the results of their recent patient satisfaction survey. Furthermore, it will compare and contrast the different perceptions of the service received by the two patient groups. It will also explore how the three staff members differ in their understanding of the patient's priorities and perceptions. Finally, recommendations will be made to NBSU management to help improve their service quality management. Gap Models A GAP model approach refers to the following five Gaps of service quality in operations in which a Gap Model is split. (Parasuraman et al, 1985). Gap number one, positioning, is where the customer's expectations of the organisation versus what are the management perceptions of these customer expectations. Gap number two, specification, is when management perceptions of the customer's expectations versus the design of service specification. Gap number three, delivery, is the service designed for customers versus the actual service being delivered to the customer. Gap number four, communication, is the service being delivered versus the service that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Function Of Student Nurse Monday, October 19th: Today I was at Moses Cone renal floor in the role of student nurse. I had two patients. One patient was a patient I have had before who went to hemodialysis. My other patient I had not had before, and she was admitted because her salivary glands were swollen and infected. My past patient went to hemodialysis at 7:45 right after I got report and introduced myself to her as my student nurse. I was able to go see her in hemodialysis. The nurse who was working with her explained to me who hemodialysis works. He had a little bit of a cultural/language barrier and it was difficult to understand exactly what he was explaining. I was able to understand a little bit about how to monitor your patient and make adjustments. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was on a dysphagia 1 diet and was receiving her pills crushed in applesauce. She wasn't tolerating it well because it was so bitter. Since I observed her eating her breakfast without any problems, and since the order to crush her pills was a nursing order, we tried her on swallowing pills with water. She did really well with this, so I spoke with her nurse about changing her order. This nursing intervention we implemented deals specifically with learning outcome #2 which talks about analyzing nursing interventions as they relate to health promotion in the older adult. The intervention we implemented promoted our patient's comfort and also led to decreased gagging and greater adherence to taking medications. Another less critical intervention I implemented were daily cares such as bathing, ambulating, and changing her gown. These were also interventions for comfort and that contributed to the patient feeling better about herself which will lead to healing. My personal goals for this week at Moses Cone were: I will help another student with one of their tasks by the end of the day. I will make a discharge plan or discuss with my nurse what discharge planning looks like before leaving. I will introduce myself to my patients with my nurse. My patient goals are: My patients will be able to explain what they need to do upon discharge to maintain health. My patients will state a non–medicinal therapy that can be used in their treatment before the end of the day. My ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Bedside Handover Using Isbar Frameworks Bedside handover using ISBAR frameworks has proven in promotion of patient satisfaction, especially for the patient's safety. However, there are some barriers that were identified in the effectiveness of bedside handover. These barriers may involve different factors such as environmental and human. Thus, this literature review will be focusing on various themes on the effectiveness of bedside handover using ISBAR, which will then be compared and contrasted; and the most common barriers to effective bedside handover will be explored. The question that has been formulated is why is bedside handover with ISBAR considered to be the safest and most effective form of handover, and what are the common barriers that limit its execution in the clinical arena? It has been proven that bedside handover with ISBAR has provided a safety transition and met patient's satisfaction that gives more opportunity to clarify information (ACSQHC 2012). Although, bedside handover with ISBAR is strictly implemented, there are difficulties in the application due to 'changes in complex social practices' of nurses that somehow limits its uptake (ACSQHC 2012, cited in Jeffcott, Evans & Cameron 2009). This literature review sought to study the rationale as to the effectiveness of bedside handover with ISBAR framework in clinical settings; and to identify the common barriers to effective communication in bedside handover. The main themes that will be included are the dyadic relationship between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Twelve Angry Men Character Analysis The way one person treats another is often a direct reflection of how they view themselves. People with poor self–images are often quick to judge, demean, belittle, and rebuke others for their mistakes, shortcomings and flaws, simply out of spite or to protect their own reputation. This is true even in the 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men, where eleven of the twelve jurors attempt to convict a young man not based off of sound evidence, but off of personal prejudice and self– righteousness alone. It was the leadership of the eighth juror, however, that convinced the other jurors to set aside their personal biases to acquit the young man accused of killing his father. In the film, the eighth juror, Mr. Davis, analyzes the self–images of the other eleven jurors and displays the core values of humility, patience and mercy in order to lead the group to the consensus that the accused is not guilty. The Merriam–Webster Dictionary defines humility as "the quality or state of being humble" and "freedom from pride or arrogance". Humility, simply put, is the opposite of prejudice. In the film, many of the jurors enter the room with preconceived notions, falsified beliefs and irrational ideas about the accused. Others enter the room unsure of their vote and to protect their pride, immediately side with the jurors who believe the young man is guilty. Examples of this include how several of the jurors stereotype the accused on the basis of race and how the third juror in particular forms a bias against the young man simply because of his age and the fact that the young man reminds him of his son. Mr. Davis, however, takes another stance. In the book The Achievement Habit: Stop Wishing, Start Doing and Take Command of Your Life, Dr. Bernard Roth states that "true mindfulness is seeing without judging" (Roth 205). Mr. Davis perfectly models this quote as he approaches the issue with sympathy towards the young man in regard to his upbringing. On an analytical level, the screenplay convincingly moves the audience to side with Mr. Davis through the use of honest dialogue that allows viewers to put their trust in what Mr. Davis says. The validity of Mr. Davis' claims also stems from the profile of his character crafted by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Boo Radley's Patience Patience is Found in God Alongside a dirty creek, I found that the water breathed in my lungs and I did not mind it. Almost a serenity, to those who have yet to know, it was a starkling contrast to the manifestation of gloom that tattered at what the Lord gave to me not too long ago. With the branches of orchard trees blurred and the faint hum of hummingbirds, I thought, the time to cut the rope would soon fall. This rope that was laced with tar from those before who left nothing but more holes to bore in memories that should've been galore with joy. Ah, this rope that grew too tight had me plea to the Lord to clean and sew it again. Oh, how else must I prosper? Lord, hear me and grant my wish. Yet, the rope remained untouched. With a rock ... • 36. My Experience In Radiograph Places Today I did my internship in the radiograph area of the clinic. Due to an office closure the Tuesday prior, the patient count double. This is because all patients were rescheduled for the next Tuesday without staggering their appointments. We were working franticly to move patients, but on this particular day the office was understaffed. I was in the radiograph room taking radiographs. I captured the radiographs of about 30 patients. At four bitewings a piece, that's a lot of pictures. I was able to do it in a timely manner. I was fine with it though because I needed more practice on my radiographs. The receptionist/office manager had mentioned that if I had not come, it would have taken twice as long. There isn't anyone actually on the payroll. Because of this, help varies quite a bit on a daily basis. As always, the office had a cheery atmosphere. Everyone was so positive and ready to work. I found an app that allows me to speak to patients in Spanish. Although it worked quite well, I expressed my desire to be fluent. One of the dentists offered to teach me Spanish in exchange for me correcting her English. She says she always asks for people to correct her, but no one will. I think it's ... A few patients volunteered to help out while waiting for treatment so we had some hands on deck. Like always, the common goal was to get patients in and out. It was nice to see the patients help out. I've never seen it this busy before but we got through rather quickly. I didn't get a whole lot of time shadowing, as I was in the back taking radiographs. However, I did learn how to explain this as simply as possible. I had a lot of patience, no pun intended. A lot of the patients couldn't speak English, had a hard time opening their mouths, or both. All in all, we made it through the day and I loved every minute of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What symptoms do family members experience with Alzheimer's patients? What factors in life play a role in developing this disease? This paper will explore these questions with the respect of these news articles. How the relationship is after a patient is diagnosed with Alzheimer's? Bilieszner and Shifflett state there are five time periods in the relationship between the patient and family members. The first time period is the relationship before Alzheimer's, and that both spouses and the adult children stated the major roles and activities that they shared with the patients." (Bilieszner, R. & Shifflett, P. 1990) The second time period was the relationship through the first symptoms of Alzheimer's, and that "the caregivers/family member's reports different strategies used to clarify the changes between their relationships with the patient. This included looking at the physical change, personality change, old age, AD, problems in the married, and even menopause." (Bilieszner, R. & Shifflett, P. 1990) This had no explanation to this time period, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Analysis Of The Play ' By Lin Manuel Miranda 's ' Hamilton ' Patiences is a Virtue In the play created by Lin–Manuel Miranda called "Hamilton" we learn an astounding amount of different lessons as diverse as from the importance of family to patience. Miranda uses the characters in the play to convey the importance of patience is a variety of ways. Hamilton, Washington, and Angelica all have a conflict with patience in this extraordinary play. What separates each of these characters conflicts with patience is their individualized struggle with the challenge of patience itself, and their ability or inability to successfully contain the impulse of losing control which is represented numerous times in the play. Alexander Hamilton is portrayed as a young man hungry for the chance to leave his mark on history. At birth, Hamilton was subject to challenges due to his parents inability to care for him. In the opening song the introduction of hamilton 's struggle as a child is presented to us through narration. The play begins, " How does a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a scotsman...impoverished, in squalor grow up to be a hero and a scholar"( "Alexander Hamilton" 0:08)? Hamilton's correlation with patience is so prevalent in this quote because, as you see here, without the patience to overcome the challenge that an orphan faces such as the absence of a true parent figure, there would be no story to tell. Hamilton overcomes the odds he faced as a young child and as stated, becomes a hero and a scholar. Hamilton also shows an inability to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
