When two companies with big dreams come together, their power cannot be harnessed! We at Linksoft are so proud of the journey we have began in partnership with Powerhive in connecting areas off the grid. Here's an overview into why we have ventured into renewable energy.
2. The government of Kenya planned to increase
electricity capacity to 5,000 MW by the end of
the year 2016, while increasing connectivity to
the national grid from 28% (an 8% increase from
last year) to 65% by 2022.

3. According to the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC),
Kenya's energy needs derive primarily from three
sources:
Wood fuel (69%)
Petroleum (22%)
Electricity (9% )
... of total energy respectively

4. The current wood fuel demand in
Kenya is close to 3.5 million tons
per year, while supply is at
1.5 million tons per year.

This has put a strain on our forest cover due to excessive deforestation,
which has in turn led to the destruction of wildlife habitats, thus negatively
affecting Kenya's tourism sector.

5. To combat this energy de cit, the
government has planned to
increase its power supply by
expanding the electricity grid across the
country, especially the rural areas which
have less coverage and are more prone
to reliance on wood fuel.
Their efforts made great strides last year
(2016)

6. The Federation of Universities of Applied
Sciences found that Kenya has increased its
effective grid from 1700 MW in 2015 to 2200
MW in 2016. We still have a long way to go,
which the Government has recognized and
is actively trying to change through attracting
private investors, and promoting renewable energy.

7. Linksoft is committed to playing a part
in these efforts that will see our tourism
sector revived through conservation of
our wildlife, deceleration of climate
changes due to deforestation, and also,
provide more opportunities to ordinary
citizens to access electricity, hence
increased productivity for the country
as a whole, and enhanced living
standards.

8. Renewable energy is a fast developing
sector and has since seen us partner with
ERC (Energy Regulatory Commission)
approved company; Powerhive.
Our portfolio has positioned us to venture into
the fast emerging world of more sustainable
sources of energy, in particular - solar energy!
Our proven track record is a testament to our commitment to provide
exceptional services, as a strategic integrator in power generation
designing, installation, commissioning & maintenance services.
Our geographical positioning along
the Equator has given us an extra
advantage and led us to tap into
generation of renewable energy in
efforts to reduce the power de cit in
Kenya.

9. Powerhive is a technology venture that joined the
Kenyan market in 2015, but was founded in 2011.
They partner with utilities and independent power
producers to provide access to productive, affordable,
and reliable microgrid electricity for millions of rural
homes and businesses around the globe.
Our partnership has seen us set out on an ambitious
journey to set up solar sites in areas around the country
that are off the grid. Our latest venture has seen over 100
homes in Kisii supplied with clean energy and drastically
changed their lifestyles positively.
