American Beer History
If you love good beer, as I do, I am sure that many of you have sampled Belgian and Belgian style
beers. This style of beer is one of my favorites. There is a lot of unique history on Belgian beers, so
for this article I would like to concentrate on Trappist ales only. While there are other beers from
Belgium, Geuze, lambics and saisons, I will save those for another article.
I know that many of us have gone into Bev–Mo, or our favorite liquor store, and seen many beers
that say Trappist ale. When you look at the label you will find that they are made by many different
breweries and countries. While these beers may meet the American Home Brewers style for the
Belgian Trappist Ale category they are not made by or under the control of Trappist ... Show more

Dubbels reveal rich malt flavors along with dark fruits, dry fruits, chocolate, nuts, and caramel or
toffee. Yeast aromas and flavors are also common as noted in the fruity ester (banana) and spicy
(clove and coriander) by products of fermentation. They have a solid mid body and as with most
Trappist ales, hop presence is fairly low. Alcohol content is 7–9% ABV (alcohol by volume).
Tripel – Tripels are triple fermented ales and are golden to slight amber in color and normally
display dense head with lacing. Their aroma and flavor profiles are rich, strong, and complex,
displaying yeasty, spicy (clove and/or peppery), fruity (e.g. oranges and bananas) and sometimes
floral attributes. These beers are deceptively high in alcohol. This is accomplished by using Belgian
candy sugar or sugar that is 100% fermentable. This increases the alcohol without adding body or
taste to the beer. While tripels can feature a sweetness they, unlike the other abbey ales, are often
hopped enough to add a somewhat balancing bitterness to the flavor. Alcohol content is 8–12%

* It is the first beer under the Budweiser name that is brewed as an ale rather than a lager. The beer
has a darker color which is a departure from other Budweiser brands 15. Product: Bud Dry * was
introduced in the U.S. in 1990 with the slogan of "Why ask why? Drink Bud Dry." * It was
originally successful in the test markets and was expected to be a popular beer with the rise in lager
popularity. * However, with the introduction of Bud Ice in 1994, Bud Dry began to decline in the
mainstream popularity and no longer receives attention. 16. Product: Bud Ice * Introduced in 1994

Beer And The Industrial Revolution
During the time leading up to the Industrial Revolution in England, the most popular beverage in the
country was beer; Ale to be exact. It was consumed in amazing quantities, which was by no means
an entirely negative fact, as beer has a number of healthy nutrients. But one thing that beer does not
provide is a strong work ethic. After a few pints of Ale one does not tend to work harder. But since
most tradesmen and artisans worked from the home, who could complain.
What does this have to do with literature, you might ask? Well nothing really. But hold on and it
soon will.
The industrial revolution occured when Watt learned how to harness steam in the form of the steam–
engine, towards the end of the 18th Century. This lead to the steam–loom

The Methodology Behind Beer Production And Beer Analysis
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to mimic and understand the methodology behind beer
production and beer analysis. The type of beer produced was based on being a Paulener Weissbier
clone. Furthermore, this type of homemade beer followed the extract brewing methodology for beer
production. The analysis of beer consists of measuring various key factors that the beer industries
use to assert the quality of beer. These characterizations of a product are alcohol percentage, SRM
Colour, International bitter units and specific gravity.
It is important to address that for this specific lab alcohol percentage was replaced with total
carbohydrates. This was done since alcohol percentage was extremely hard to quantify with the

of crushed Munich malt and 2 oz. flaked wheat was inserted into a muslin bag and tied at bout ends.
When the temperature of the water in the source pan reached 150 F the grain bag was introduced
into the saucepan. The muslin bag was kept in the saucepan for 20 minutes, under temperatures
raging between 155 to 165F, occasionally being squished by a wooden spoon with the intention to
promote the extraction of sugars. After the 20 minutes at 155–165F the grain bag was removed and
placed in a strainer above the pan.
When the water in the kettle reached the boiling point the strainer (with the grain bag in it) was put
on top of the kettle. When the strainer was put in place water was slowly poured from the saucepan

Cobra Beer
This strategic report analyses several different factors in regards to Cobra Beer. The analysis was
focused on the UK market and beer industry. The first section of the report looks at analysing Cobra
Beer's external environment via a microenvironment analysis. It accomplishes this in the form of a
PESTEL and Porter's 5 Forces analysis. PESTEL was examined in regards to the Beer industry and
it looked at several issues, and analysed the critical issues in detail. Porters 5 forces looked at the
industry's sources of rivalry. Issues and problems were viewed for both with solutions seen at the
end of the report. The external environment subsequently concluded that the beer industry is a very
attractive but not a profitable one, as it's comfortable to enter but tough to construct profits.
Analysis of the internal environment was later examined through the resource–based view. This
looked at the resources and capabilities of Cobra Beer and analysed what resources and capabilities
they have, and how they come together to create a competitive advantage. Issues and problems were
viewed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

clash between the two companies and how they've overcome it. The final crisis was in regards to
Lord Bilimoria being named in panama papers, which was linked to tax avoidance. Ethics was

World Beer Consumption

MGMT 80– International Business
Written Assignment: The World Beer Industry
Beer Around the World Approximately, 100 billion liters of beer are consumed around the world
every year (Olfir, 2007). The worldwide growth rate of beer consumption has been recorded for the
past 19 years (Kirin Holdings, 2005). This, however, is not to say that the beer consumption around
the world is alike. The alcoholic beverage consumption levels around the world and the rates at
which these increase vary from one country to another. For example, in India the annual
consumption of beer is .5 litters per capita (Gupta, 2007), where as in Czech Republic, the
consumption of beer is 156.9 liters per capita per year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the industry could possibly help the economic stability of a country, I believe it does a
greater harm to the different nations. I believe that one possibly solution that would allow the beer
industry to prosper without causing much harm, is if as they enter a nation to introduce their
product, they help create programs that educate people on the consumption of alcohol. I believe that
if people are educated on the subject matter and know the consequences of drinking this product,
they will continue to consume the beverage but being more responsible. This, in my opinion, will
not have a negative affect on the beer industry. Another way that a nation can prevent the
consequences of alcohol consumption caused by worldwide brewers is by creating greater taxation
or other barriers that would hinder the production and selling of beer in their nation. This scenario,
however, might be one that the beer industry might one to avoid. Unlike my first suggestion, this
would have a greater negative impact on the industry. Such situation would lower sales in the given
country affecting the revenue of the company. I also believe that although the rate of alcohol
consumption in many developing countries is increasing, these rates will begin to slow down.
Although, as mentioned earlier, economy prosperity may help increase the levels of

Miller Beer Ads
Good Call In television commercials and magazine ads, Miller uses sex, and woman as a way to
grab your attention and to sell the product. We all have heard the saying "sex sells" but how far can
alcohol companies take it. In their latest commercials, Miller uses two very attractive female twins
that argue about to positive aspects for why they drink Miller. One argues she drinks it for the great
taste and the other because it 's less filling. This leads to a fight between these two very sexy twins
ripping each others clothes off and wrestling around in a fountain of water; they strip each other
down to just their underwear. Alcohol advertising, especially in the broadcast media, represents the
single greatest source of alcohol ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I don 't think so. If you go to the bars a lot, then you know who the drinkers are because of their big
beer–belly 's hanging out of their shirt. Drinking beer, if you ask me, can make a man look like he 's
pregnant. The history of Miller Brewing Company began in the mid–19th century, when a
determined immigrant, Frederick John Miller, born November 24, 1824, brought his passion for
beer to the United States. Miller, who had been a renowned German brewer since 1849, arrived in
the United States and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1855. In 1855, Miller purchased a small
brewery called the Plank Road Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for $2,300. Through his
determination and character, Frederick Miller began building his own American dream – barrel by
barrel. He produced the finest quality beer, made from locally grown hops and barley, and using a
unique brewer 's yeast that he hand–carried from Germany. (The yeast they use in our beers today is
a descendant of that very yeast so treasured by our founder!) Before his death in 1888, Frederick
Miller became one of the early pioneers of bottling beer. After his passing, Frederick Miller 's
immediate family members continued his legacy, and guided the company with progressive,
uncompromising character through two world wars and prohibition. In 1903, Miller named its most
popular beer, High Life, and the Champagne of Bottled Beer was born! Today, Miller 's Brewery in
Milwaukee (and the historic

The Beer Simulation
Root Beer Simulation From what I could see, there were not multiple roles to play in this
simulation; instead, everyone logging into the simulation appears to play the same role, which was
that of the distributor ordering products from the manufacturer and attempting to get them to the
customers. This is an important point, because in many ways a distributor has greater flexibility than
a retailer and a manufacturer, but, in other ways, faces far greater constraints than business people in
other positions. The distributor's role is to get stuff from a manufacturer or other wholesaler and
then distribute that stuff to resellers. From reading the instructions, it appears that there are actually
different roles to play in the project, but I actually logged in from different computers to see if I
would get to play another role in the game, but every time I ended up in the distributor role. One of
the interesting things about the simulation was that one did not start from scratch in the project.
Instead, the simulation is already running and is in a certain week of production and distribution
when the student enters into the stimulation. This means that the student gets both the benefit and
the burden of work done by prior students. In my scenario, this ended up having a very detrimental
impact on me, because I began with a tremendous backlog of product that my retailers had ordered
from me. I cannot tell if the person before me was placing small orders or if they were

Consumer Behaviour
Perceptual Maps and Beer Executive summary
This report illustrates the relationship of beer brands within the perceptual map in regards to alcohol
content and price as well as implications for consumer behaviour. The perceptual map indicates that
there are market segments in premium beers with high alcohol content. There is also a market
segment for low cost beers with high alcohol content. The perceptual map also shows that there are
potential business opportunities for premium beers with low alcohol content.
The report also provides a high level summary of how beer companies can incorporate perceptual
maps when devising their marketing strategy and implications that a perceptual map has for ... Show

This campaign is followed up by the tag 'some drink it to be responsible others just love the taste'
giving a satirical indication to its quality, further distinguishing it from its other competitors. The
campaign was creative, risk–taking and appealing to its target audience–male light–beer drinkers
who had felt less masculine and dull for drinking light beer. The ads empowered them to drink light
beer with a masculine confidence and a sense of cultural belonging having the brand be associated
with Australian stereotypes.
Heineken
Another brand of beer that has successfully penetrated the market is Heineken. Heineken is
available in almost every country on the planet and is the world's most valuable international
premium beer brand. They currently stand as a premium and full strength beer on the perceptual
map above which suggests that social status and the occasion for beer determines the choice of
Heineken. Perceptual maps can be incorporated in developing or altering marketing strategies by
plotting the points gained by surveys onto this map which allows the vast majority of consumer's
views seen in comparison to competitors, also sighting possible market segments as opportunities its

Beer As A Man Who Invented Beer Essay
"He was a wise man who invented beer."– Plato.
Beer is One of the most widely consumed beverages around the world. According to "List 25," "An
average American consumes about 23 gallons of the beverage a year, "that averages about 27 six
packs or 1 ½ of a kegs which is a lot of beer. Beer was first seen when nomads made beer from
grain and water even before they knew how to make bread. It was considerably cleaner than the
water they had due to the fermentation and alcohol that is created. Then beer evolved over time and
became better. In the early 1800s beer started to become a revolutionary alcohol beverage. In the
1800s there were many things beer evolved in to: it was known as "Ale" Oktoberfest was created,
and the first golden lager was created. Later on in the 1900s U.S. retail beer sales exceeded $45
Billion and The world 's largest brewery was Coors Brewing, in Golden, Colorado, at 272 Million
cases that were produced. How is this tasty beverage that many people enjoy made?
The beverage of beer is simple to make but can be a backbreaker to perfect and get that smooth,
rich, bitter taste. When I was younger I remember seeing my dad bring in lots of medium sized
boxes. Me, being a child, I asked lots of questions, but the main one "what is that?" my dad looked
at me and giggled, "Its Kool–Aid tools for adults." He told me all I said was, "Awesome I've never
seen this kind of Kool–Aid." Little did I know my dad had his own home brewing kit which allowed

Molson's Beer Commercial
Consumption of beer is a deep–rooted ritual for Canadians. It is used as a social device to interact
with others and appreciate life with close family members and friends. In this article the author is
trying to highlight the underlying themes–such as the studying of symbols, signs and understating
their interpretations–behind the great Molson's beer commercial of 2000 'I AM CANADIAN!' The
writer is analyzing the increase in Molson's market share caused by the ad campaign. Seiler has used
historical, sociological and phenomenological approach in order to understand the various themes.
This advert uses easily identifiable symbols of Canada, such as the flag, the national animal
(Beaver) and the National Hockey League game, to link the audience in understanding what it takes
be Canadian! The great tactic done by the Molson Company was to end this commercial with their
top selling beer "Canadian", to make the audience feel, that drinking Molson beer is part of

Back in the year 2000, this advertisement gained a lot of popularity and made the Molson beer to be
enjoyed while participating in Canadian social cultures such as watching NHL game. As mentioned
in the article, imported beer was preferred over the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase
its market share and target the majority of the population, joined hands with the American Coors
beer company. It makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now?
Does the binary actually exist in the real world or was it just an attempt by Molson Company to
meet their capitalist means? The message of their commercial today does not reflect their company's
value system. It does not portray the same patriotism it did back in

I was invited to the 3rd annual PGA National Resort & Spa Craft Beer Bash on Saturday, August
19th. Technically it's the 6th annual, but the first three years were a combination of craft beer and
burgers. I had the pleasure of attending one of those in the past, so I had an idea of what to expect
this time around. The festival started at 1:00pm and continued until 4:00pm at which time
festivalgoers were invited to an after–party at the iBar. Live entertainment was provided during the
Bash by Sweet Justice and DJ/Electric Violinist Timothee Lovelock of Lovelock Music Group. Both

The 50 or so breweries were split between two large rooms with the seven cideries and one meadery
in a smaller room. My game plan was to only try beer I hadn't had before. My first stop was the
Knee Deep Brewing table to try 'Tanilla' a 6.3% abv vanilla porter brewed with Tahitian vanilla
beans. It was a pretty average offering with chocolate, vanilla and a slight coffee bite coming
through. Next up was 'ReDANKulous' a 9.5% abv imperial red IPA with Chinook, Mosaic and
Simcoe hops from Founders Brewing. Typically Founders IPA's are spot on but this beer was
extremely malt forward. Having tried so many IPA's from Founders I have to chalk this up to the
distributor pouring an old bottle. 'Passion Pit' from Saltwater Brewery was the first beer poured via
tap rather than a bottle. At 3.7% abv this Golden Ale is perfect for summer with a very enjoyable
bite from the passion fruit. Up next was 'Lucille' (The Walking Dead) from the Terrapin Beer Co.
Lucille is a 9.4% abv Imperial Stout brewed with blackstrap molasses and vanilla, then aged on
Hickory, Maple, and White Ash wood. It was a little smokier than I care for but the molasses vanilla
and maple came out nicely. It's not a beer I would personally go back to though. The Tomoka
Brewing Co. and their 'Oceanside White IPA' were up next. Oceanside has a wheat base which cuts
the hops down a touch, but both citrus and pine still came through well. Definitely

ALRIDGE BREWING COMPANY
Craft Brewing Goes Public In August 1995, Paul Shipman, the CEO of Alridge Brewing (AB)
prepared himself to enter uncharted territory. A craft brewing operation had never before been taken
public in the United States, and he and his management team were about to do just that. Sure, there
were massive large–batch breweries like Anheuser–Busch and Miller Brewing Company that were
profitable, publicly traded firms–but there was something different about Alridge: it embodied the
ethos and grassroots beginnings of the microbrew movement, and Shipman was confident that
widespread market demand for craft beer was set to explode. He and the team had steadily

Their marketing strategy was primarily word–of–mouth; they began their marketing campaign by
reaching out to local restaurants, bars and brewpubs to carry kegs of their beer, which was delivered
in early years by a single truck.5

Craft Beer Brewing
Paper Two: Cause and Effect
Fermented beverages have played a part in every civilization. The evolution of fermentation by
human hands has been a diverse one. From the first fermented beverage, mead, found in ancient
Greek, Egyptian, and Sumerian records to today's micro–brewed barley–based ales, fermented
beverages have seen tremendous growth. Today, micro craft breweries are displacing the
competition from big brewers in America (Kain n.p.). The number of craft breweries in America has
more than doubled since 2011 due to ease of access to the equipment, and craft breweries are
creating thousands of jobs, contributing millions of dollars to the U.S. economy, and providing
enthusiasts with a wide variety of beers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I spent many weeks researching and reading up on the art of home brewing. After two months, I
finally made my purchase of the basic equipment I needed. I spent hours laboring over deciding the
type of ingredients to buy, what ratios to use, duration of fermentations, whether to perform a
secondary fermentation; all my hard work bore fruit of a recipe that was very enjoyable. It had an
aroma of raspberries, a slight hint of raspberries amidst the wheat and a slight bitter note. When I
held a tasting of my beer, all the participants enjoyed my creation and had some constructive
criticism on how I can improve the recipe. Some asked if I would be brewing more batches and they
would like to take some home.
Encouraged by the positive feedback, I have continued to brew beer. I've also recently started a
collaboration recipe with a local brewery's head brewer. The networking connections due to craft
beer I have made over the past year would not have been possible if craft breweries hadn't given me
and the beer enthusiasts something we could discuss while enjoying a pint of our favorite brews.
What started as a simple hobby now has the potential to grow in to something bigger now that I've
started to collaborate with a local brewery's head brewer.

Crafted Beer vs Mass Produced Beer
What's better, mass produced or crafted beer?
According to (http://www.brewersassociation.org/pages/business–tools/craft–brewing–
statistics/craft–brewer–defined) a craft brewer is "small, independent and traditional". They have to
produce less than six million barrels to be considered a craft brewery. Also from a financial point
there is a difference to a mass producing beer brewery, an alcoholic industry can only have a
maximum of 25% of the brewery. If they own more than this they are considered mass producing
brewery because the alcoholic industry is considered to own the craft brewery. Furthermore it has to
have "at least 50% of its volume in either all malt beers or in beers which use adjuncts to enhance

The craft breweries on the other hand are only specialized in beers, a famous one is the Harpoon
Brewery which is located in Boston. (http://www.cnbc.com/id/39233398/page/2) ,
(http://www.nomorefreebeer.com/index.php/the–facts/anheuser–beer–list/)
There are two main aspects why people prefer crafted beer over mass produced beer, and quality is
one of those aspects. The main reason why they differ so much is that the purpose of the factories
producing the beer is different. For craft breweries it is important to have a really good in their beers
because their customers are willing to pay more for a higher quality. They use normally "better" and
more expensive ingredients and pay a lot of attention to the production process. The mass produced
beers are not even known for a good quality, sure there are some more expensive ones like Corona
but most of them are not. The reason why firms don't keep the quality high is that they want it to be
cheap and everyone should be able to purchase it because the main purpose of mass produced beer
is to get the consumer drunk. That's the actual part of enjoyment you get from drinking a beer.

Craft Beer And The Beer Industry
From 2012 to 2014, the number of craft breweries in America has grown from 2,401 to 3,418,
representing a 42% increase. ("Number of Breweries and Brewpubs in the U.S.") Additionally,
while US overall beer production fell 1.4% in 2013, craft beer production grew by 9.6% and now
represents 7% of the total beer market. (Snider). The brewers association describes a craft brewer as

The craft beer industry is rapidly increasing in size and the beers within it tend to be more
expensive, but little academic research exists on the perceived quality of craft versus mainstream
beers. Craft beer is widely seen as generally better than mainstream American beers such as
Budweiser, Coors, and Miller, but no academic research exists to determine how expectations of
differences between craft and mainstream beer based only on being labeled as "craft" can effect
perceived quality and flavor.
People's expectations have widely been shown to influence both flavor experiences and neural
responding. Plassman and others (2008) demonstrated this using wine, by presenting wine to

Beer In The Passage Analysis
The quotation above portrays beer as a drink that is considered by egyptians and mesopotamians as
a holy drink that should be given to every civilian who knows about its existence. This passage in
the book truly shines light on one of the most important drinks since the beginning of humanity.
Beer was one of the first drinks that was made in such a way that it was always safe to drink and not
only that but it also gave the mesopotamians their true identity and culture. Along with providing a
safe method for consuming liquid beer gave way to the early migrations, farming, and the
development of river valley societies.

Tea was such an immense resource in Europe that even mere peasants were able to afford at least
two glasses of the decadent drink. In the long run, the empire was able to use its enormous
economic power that it gained from the British East India Company to take control of the global tea
market. And in conjunction with the West Indies the British were able to buy tea and sugar from
both ends of the world and still have a cheaper drink than beer.
The quote above refers to the great power of the British region and its great might to achieve
anything that it wishes from new technology to the complete takeover of countries such as India and
America. The British global superpower considered tea as part of its culture as it was considered the
favorite drink by many Britain's including soldiers who were also given tea when on active duty. As

Our trip to the Sierra Nevada brewery in Chico was very enjoyable. It is always nice to take a long
drive to see somewhere you haven't seen before and be able to see new places along the way. It's
only better when you get to do it with some enjoyable people and get to learn a few things about

Beer Classification Paper
The history of beer dates back hundreds of years prior to written history. Besides water and tea, beer
is one of the most–frequently consumed beverages in the world. Contrary to popular belief, that all
beers are typically the same, there are many variances in color, flavor, strength, production method,
ingredients and origin. Beer can be divided into 2 broad sub–categories: ale and lager. Ales were the
first type of beer ever created before brewers knew the role yeast played during the beer making
process. Ale yeasts flocculate at the top of the fermentation tank and are brewed from malted barley
using a warm fermentation. The yeast ferments the beer quickly, which gives it a full bodied and
fruity taste. They also contain hops, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Something else that adds to the taste of a beer, are additional ingredients. The last major difference
between ales and lagers are there supplementary ingredients. Ales typically have more of a malty
taste, due to an elevated amount of hops, malts, and roasted malts that are added during production.
Ale brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several
different ingredients during brewing, like the ones mentioned above. These extra ingredients are
referred to as, adjuncts. Brewers of lagers only have a few, simple ingredients: malted grain, hops,
yeast, and water. The production method of lagers is somewhat due to the stringent Reinheitsgebot
Law, also known as the "German beer purity law". This law prohibits any adjuncts during the
brewing process of lagers, only permitting water, barely, and hops as ingredients. Tea and water
maybe two of the most consumed beverages in the world, but beer is right behind in a close third.
Beer is gradually becoming more and more popular. This is evident through the new trends of beer
companies that have begun to accommodate for the new low calorie beer trend. Corona, Heineken,
and Anheuser–Busch have led the pack by producing "Corona Lite", "Heineken Lite", and
"Budweiser Select". With more and more companies attending to these trends, beer has broadened

As a beer lover and a native to the region, I had so many questions when I started Capital Beer by

History Of Beer Brewing Beer And The Styles Of Beer Essay
Introduction
This paper is intended to review the history of brewing beer, the differences between the breweries,
the trends, the process and ingredients used in brewing beer and the styles of beer. Detailed
information will be discussed on how to adequately serve beer with food and how to compliment
them together to make them appealing to the public. Beer was invented many centuries ago and was
first known as a homemaker skill. Over the years beer has become very popular and technology has
made the process of brewing beer less complex and more flavorful allowing for extreme success in
the brewing industry.
Analysis
The history of beer is an extensive one, the actual timing and individual that invented beer is
unknown. It is estimated that beer was created by accident over 5,000 years ago. "Hard evidence of
beer production dates back about 5,000 years to the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia" (Andrews,
2014.) The concoction to create beer was stumbled upon when bread and wheat got wet and because
water was usually contaminated beer became the preferred beverage. Beer is primarily made up of
"malt extract, yeast, hops, and water" (Flowers, 2014) these ingredients add the syrup taste,
sweetness, and different flavors to the beer while it is being brewed.

1.0 Introduction Beer is an immensely popular beverage, but it is one that is associated with a
particular country. German beer in fact is seen as the king of all beers. Around the world, Germany's
beer is one of the most respected varieties, in part due to the strict legislation that governs brewing,
but also because it seems that the German people take great pains to brew a good beer. It is
customary and part of their social structure. The majority of people in Germany socialize in pubs,

Brewing beer grew to be a respectable profession (2002). A student writing on this subject might
want to note that while it was a profession at the time, today's beers are generally made by large
companies. It has been proven that the production of good quality beer demanded certain
temperatures, but temperatures at the time prior to refrigeration were only available during the
winter ("German beer," 2002). The invention of refrigeration made it possible and did allow for beer
to be brewed year round (2002). Another important development was the discovery of
microorganisms and after that, the science of the fermentation process had finally been established
(2002). 4.0 Location: Where the Beer is Made With the increase in exports, Germany developed
world famous beer cities by the time the 1300s rolled around ; Bremen had been the midpoint for
beer exports to England, Holland and Scandinavia ("German beer," 2002) . Hamburg had been the
brewery of the Hanse but By 1500 there had been about 600 breweries there alone (2002). The
Hanse exported beer and some clients were as far away as India (2002). Braunschweig and Einbeck
is aligned with bock beer and they are also considered important beer cities (2002).
Munich is an important city for beer and the locale where Spaten beer is made. Of course, German
beer is found in Germany, but due to its reputation, it is a major export.

1. What is the subculture's core purpose? What motivates, unifies and drives the members?
It's Friday night in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town and all the cool, hip young professionals are

found that all of these partygoers are drinking the same drink: Craft Beer.
As a student of ethnography I was interested in this social phenomenon of craft beer in Cape Town,
and even more so about this subculture of drinkers that would pay more for a craft beer, then a
standard, regular, cheaper beer.

success that they implemented the same strategy in Whole Foods. The in–store taps enable

strategy I believe will work well in South Africa.

Stereotypes Of Beer In Australia
Beer is the number one most popular alcoholic beverage in the world, dating back to 2050bc beer
was first brewed in a Sumerian city of Iraq, this was called "Alulueer" meaning best beer. In the
current times we live in not too many don't know the main Australian beers such as fosters, victoria

Australians have had beer in trade and for personal use since the moment the settlers turned up in
Australia in 1788. Captain cook brought beer on his ship "The Endeavor" as a matter of preserving
drinking water. Modern Australian beer is typically lager, lager wasn't produced in Australia until

There are many by products of beer, the most well known being Ale , lager and light beer, here are

come from the alcohol but the rest comes from carbohydrates within the beer.
Many wonder which is healthier heavy or light beer, as stated above light beer has less calories, but
within that there is less alcohol, which gives the consumer less of a buzz causing the effect of
multiple beers being drank which would of made heavy beers the better choice if your desire is to

nothing but the best ingredient that they can buy. Brewing the best quality beer remains their focus.
The recipe remains the same as when the company started producing its flagship brand, Samuel
Adams Boston lager in the 1800s. They still produce beverages that are full flavored, complex, and
consistent quality their customer's desire. They currently focus on promoting the Samuel Adams
product line more so than the other brands. They create and offer a variety of traditional and
innovative beers and ciders through many product lines. Samuel Adams offers over 30 distinctive
styles of beers. Boston Beer Company's products are considered to be in the Better Beer category.
Being in the Better Beer category means it is standard for the products to be more pricy, better

Descriptive Essay On Beer
One Friday night, a few of my coworkers went to Stan's Blue Note on Greenville Avenue in Dallas.
This bar had a selection of over 100 bottles of beer. They had a list of the beers. If you wanted, you
were able to register and the bartenders would keep a list of the beers that you drank each time you
visited. After you drank all of the beers on the list, you were given a t–shirt that indicated your
achievement. At the time, most of the good beers were imports. That evening, I had Polar from
Venezuela and Dragon Stout from Jamaica. Up until that point, Dragon Stout was the most unique
tasting beer that I had ever tried. At first I laughed that it tasted like a cross between beer and paint.
As I sipped it and savored the flavor, it grew on me. I liked it so much, I ordered a second bottle.
The bartender thought that I was crazy. The bartenders had a microphone behind the bar. They used
to harass male patrons who ordered wine coolers. After I got my second bottle of Dragon Stout, the
bartender grabbed the microphone, pointed at me and laughed that I was "one sick man." I went to
Stan's Blue Note only three or four times after that. I did not attempt to get the t–shirt. Each time I
was there, I ordered a Dragon Stout. Dragon Stout was the beer that got me interested in beer
tasting.
After this, even though I was interested, I did not actively pursue seeking new beers to try. I casually
tried new beers, but I did not make an effort. I did not think of keeping

Summer is officially in swing and there's no better time to enjoy an ice cold brew out on the water,
at the beach, or on your front porch as the sun's going down. But when the weather is just too nice to
pass up that second or third drink, craft beer aficionados are in for a long day – and that's a good
thing!
The popularity of session beers, beers with full flavor and hop but less alcohol content, is on the rise
and Oskar Blues Brewing Company has come out with what they call the "most crushable" beer yet.
Released for national distribution back in February, the Pinner Throwback IPA has an ABV (alcohol
by volume) of just 4.9% and 35 IBU (international bittering units).
The term 'session beers' actually dates back to the World War I era when British legislation limited
pub hours to one lunchtime and one dinner time 'session.' During this time rationing put a limit on
the amount of alcohol used in brewing, creating lower ABV levels in the beers consumed during
these sessions. According to NPR's Doug Tribou it has also been argued that 'sessions' just referred

Executive Summary
Once brewed in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago, beer is now brewed in Palestine. One of the
first micro–breweries in the Middle East, the brewing company was established in 1994 and is
located in Taybeh –– a Palestinian Christian village in the West Bank located 20 miles from
Jerusalem. The first beer was produced in 1995.
Taybeh beer was the first Palestinian product to be franchised in Germany, where it was brewed and
bottled for sale in Europe. Taybeh beer is considered unique because it is made according to the
German purity law of 500 years ago which states that the beer should be made out of four basic
natural ingredients: malt, hops, pure water, and yeast, following every aspect of the German
brewing process. Taybeh beer produces three varieties: Golden, Light, and Dark.
The Taybeh brewery was born in the years of optimism that followed the Oslo peace accords in the
mid–1990s, a time when Palestinians and Israelis hoped an end to their conflict was in sight. Nadim
Khoury had left the village years before and was living in Boston in the United States, where he had
taught himself to brew beer at home. His family encouraged him to return to the Palestine. Nadim is

Historically hops, yeast, malted barley, and water have all played the greatest and most important
role in society. For almost 8000 years these ingredients have been mixed and have been appreciated
by all classes of society in almost all civilizations.
The old cliche "accident is the mother of invention" is a phrase that definitely holds true
in the world of beer. The discovery was made way back when the Mediterranean region was the seat

It was determined that humankind's first agricultural activity was growing barley. Forty percent of
the grain harvest in Sumeria was converted to ale.
The laws pertaining to beer in ancient times were very strict. The Code of Hammurrabi in Babylon
proved to be more harsh than our laws today.
Establishments that sold beer receive special mention in those laws, codified in
1800 B.C. Owners of beer parlors who overcharged customers were sentenced to death by
drowning. Those who failed to notify authorities of criminal elements in their establishments were
also executed (1). Many of the beer makers and bartenders in the ancient world were women who
sold ale under the supervision of the goddess Ninkasi, "the lady who fills the mouth."
These Babylonians brewed at least sixteen styles of beer with wheat and malted barley.
Egyptians paid their workers with jugs of beer, and Ramses II was said to have consecrated over
half a million jugs of it to the gods. In the Nile region beer was flavored with lavender, date, cedar,
nutmeg, sugar, and probably hops. The bible's references to unleavened bread suggest that the
isolation and deliberate use of yeast was known at the time of Moses. A professor even wrote that
beer is mentioned in the book of Exodus as one of the unknown leavens, and when Moses told Jews
to avoid leavened bread during Passover in Exodus 12, he also meant that they should avoid beer.

The Beer Is Not A New Thing
Beer is not a new thing. Alcoholic beverages date as far back as 10,000 B.C.E and Sumerians in
2000 B.C.E. had prepared recipes for eight different beer types, ranging from "strong," "red brown,"
and "good dark" (Mauk, 2013). Breweries have created their own recipes, brewed their own beers–
some with alcohol, some without–and most recently there has been the craft beer explosion. Perhaps
the Sumerian beer could be argued as the first craft beer. Over the past few years, craft beer has been
gaining steady market share from the national and international beer breweries, with a focus on
micro breweries and brew pubs (Murray & O 'Neill, 2012). Separating one beer from the next is the

The Marketing Of The Beer Industry
The U.S. beer industry is a highly concentrated industry since two large firms (Anheuser–Busch
InBev and MillerCoors) occupy a significant market share. As the craft beer industry experiences an
explosive growth, the competition becomes fierce. As the largest craft brewery and the seventh
largest brewery in the United States, the Boston Beer Company is facing growing competitive
threats from larger breweries and premium imported beer companies, including Anheuser–Busch
InBev, MillerCoors, Heineken, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium Brewing, and Crown Imports. More
than that, it has to face the competitive challenges from the small breweries, which are growing
rapidly and want to surpass the Boston Beer Company. Samuel Adams produced by the Boston Beer
Company is one of the most popular craft beer because it has won more awards in the beer tasting
competitions than any other brewery in the world since 2000 (Dess et al. C129). As the competition
within the craft beer industry, the Boston Beer Company has to figure out a way to maintain growth,
increase customer awareness, and continue to brew flavorful beers that customers enjoy.
Porter's Five Forces on the general Beer Industry

The Craft Beer Industry: Beer Glassware Essay
INTRODUCTION
Europeans have been particular about what glass to serve their beer in for years. Since the craft beer
industry in North America is booming in volume and the number of styles, it is only logical that
craft beer be presented in the best glassware. This report provides reasons as to why the shaker pint
(or cocktail glass) should not be used as the dominant glassware of choice for craft beer.
DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM
The average customer thinks that the shaker pint glass is an acceptable choice for consuming craft
beer from. The vast majority of customers are unaware that the shaker pint is an extremely poor
choice to serve craft beer and to not use this glass. By using this glass, customers will never truly

He stated that they maintain minimum inventories for sale of beer glassware. What doesn't sell
simply finds its way to service the bar glassware to replace broken/ damaged ones. Therefore the
Establishment really loses nothing on the matter as far as profit. The limitation of this is that
Kelowna's craft beer scene is slower to expand than other regions such as Vancouver.
PRESENT METHODS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE There has been some movement on a few
levels but it seems to be restricted to the beer aficionados.
Creating your own glass – Larger production craft breweries such as Samuel Adams created their

Collaboration between DogFish Head Brewery and Sierra Nevada brewery has led to the creation of

items:
o The average consumer doesn't necessarily understand the need to have the proper glassware, let

Overview The Boston Beer Company has had amazing success in its transition from a small scale

Samuel Adams Lager product line, which has hardly changed from the founding of the company in
1984, to the IPO in 1995, to the present day. In fact, much of the appeal of Samuel Adams comes
from its microbrew image and the founder, Jim Koch's, commitment to the brewing process and a

But now there are new challenges facing the company. There are always new fads in the beer
industry; current trends are low–carb beers and fruityflavored malt beverages. The Boston Beer
Company needs to decide which of these trends to respond to, and how to respond to each. Above
all the company needs to continue its strategy of differentiation that allowed it to achieve its current
profitability. It is its image for quality above major American beers like Budweiser, Coors, and
Miller that allows it to keep its prices, and its profits, high.
Current Industry Analysis The Boston Beer Company's product is a "better" beer. A better beer is
defined as either a craft beer or an import, and is characterized by higher prices and quality. A craft
beer is defined as one which is brewed with 100% malted barley as its grain. The major American
beer companies typically use a mixture of malted barley along with other grains such as rice or corn,
since these are less expensive and have less full–bodied flavors. Rivals in the better beer industry
include such foreign companies as Corona, Heineken, and Guinness, as well as domestic companies
such as Sierra Nevada, Pete's, and a number of microbreweries around the country. While the beer
industry overall is very rivalrous, the better beer industry is not so, as evidenced by high profit

between the importer and Modelo was very strong as taxes increased in 1991. To further expand
internationally, I would encourage Grupo Modelo to continue its model of contracting with a
distributor in the target region. This strategy has benefited the company because the local
distributors are able to brand the beers to their local market needs. I believe that China and Australia
are two markets that have great potential for demand of Grupo Modelo 's beers. China recently
surpassed the U.S. in total beer consumption. There is a huge population that is potential for
demand. Australia already has high per–capita consumption of beer, so it might be an easy market to
enter especially considering the match of brand image of Corona to the typical image of Australian
beaches.
Identify and discuss the next foreign market that Modelo should enter and with what strategy. In the
current environment, the biggest challenge for Grupo Modelo is to sustain its growth and maximize
the return to shareholders by following business expansion strategy in order to retain market
leadership position in both domestic (Mexican) and International market especially in United States.
Hence, the company could consider various options to overcome this challenge: Expand

Beer Simulation
Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this
simulation. Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so that I
believed I had a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the bullwhip of
supply and demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the number of
orders coming in, much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming orders. This
error on my part certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming orders, but also
in the entire supply chain. The simulation also kept auto–filling my initial order, which was only
10,000 cases, despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could not get the
simulation to operate properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto–ordering the 10,000
cases. I could not get it to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of this glitch, I continued
to increase my backlog. I simply could not order more than 10,000 cases. I address this issue
because the glitch certainly impacted my opinion of the computer simulation as a means of learning.
In this scenario, the initial computer simulation was absolutely worthless as a learning tool. I made
an error in my first order, but I do not think that error was meaningful. Instead, it appears that
whatever number of cases I placed in my initial order would be the number of cases ordered over
the next several

Mountain Man Beer
MOUNTAIN MAN BREWING CASE WRITE–UP
Problem Statement:
Mountain Man Brewing (MMB) has been successful with only one beer, Mountain Man Lager, but
consumption has decreased. The decrease in sales for this beer has caused a decrease in profits,
since it is their only product. Mountain Man needs to consider a change in their positioning strategy
to increase sales and profits to keep the business successful.
Alternative #1: Create, promote and sell Mountain Man Lager Light
Pros: It gives them the use of their name that is already well known and liked in their current market
area. It creates a light beer for the younger target market that drinks light beers. Cons: It could result
in customers switching from regular to light, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will face a higher production demand if they do increase sales to more areas. There will be
more importance and expense on distribution due to having to make the sales with businesses in
more distant States and with having to provide them with the product in a timely and dependable
manner.
Recommendation:
Mountain Man Brewing should choose alternative #3 to keep the Mountain Man Lager beer as their
only beer and work to grow it into a larger market by moving into additional States. Doing so keeps
them focused on the strength of their unique and successful beer, rather than trying to move toward
something more common to follow behind competitors. If they were to pursue the light beer, it may
increase revenue, but not likely to be by that much. Even though the consumption of the light beers
has grown significantly in the younger market segment, it is still most likely that they will usually
choose the common, major brands, such as Bud Light and Miller Light. They could not get into true
competition with the major brands, and would most likely take away sales from their current
product due to customers either switching to the light beer or losing dedication to their unique offer.
Even though it may leave out the younger consumer market, they can still draw interest from those
individuals as they get older and become more likely to trying specialty beers. They could also look

American Beer History

  • 1. American Beer History If you love good beer, as I do, I am sure that many of you have sampled Belgian and Belgian style beers. This style of beer is one of my favorites. There is a lot of unique history on Belgian beers, so for this article I would like to concentrate on Trappist ales only. While there are other beers from Belgium, Geuze, lambics and saisons, I will save those for another article. I know that many of us have gone into Bev–Mo, or our favorite liquor store, and seen many beers that say Trappist ale. When you look at the label you will find that they are made by many different breweries and countries. While these beers may meet the American Home Brewers style for the Belgian Trappist Ale category they are not made by or under the control of Trappist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dubbels reveal rich malt flavors along with dark fruits, dry fruits, chocolate, nuts, and caramel or toffee. Yeast aromas and flavors are also common as noted in the fruity ester (banana) and spicy (clove and coriander) by products of fermentation. They have a solid mid body and as with most Trappist ales, hop presence is fairly low. Alcohol content is 7–9% ABV (alcohol by volume). Tripel – Tripels are triple fermented ales and are golden to slight amber in color and normally display dense head with lacing. Their aroma and flavor profiles are rich, strong, and complex, displaying yeasty, spicy (clove and/or peppery), fruity (e.g. oranges and bananas) and sometimes floral attributes. These beers are deceptively high in alcohol. This is accomplished by using Belgian candy sugar or sugar that is 100% fermentable. This increases the alcohol without adding body or taste to the beer. While tripels can feature a sweetness they, unlike the other abbey ales, are often hopped enough to add a somewhat balancing bitterness to the flavor. Alcohol content is 8–12% ... • 3. Beer And The Industrial Revolution During the time leading up to the Industrial Revolution in England, the most popular beverage in the country was beer; Ale to be exact. It was consumed in amazing quantities, which was by no means an entirely negative fact, as beer has a number of healthy nutrients. But one thing that beer does not provide is a strong work ethic. After a few pints of Ale one does not tend to work harder. But since most tradesmen and artisans worked from the home, who could complain. What does this have to do with literature, you might ask? Well nothing really. But hold on and it soon will. The industrial revolution occured when Watt learned how to harness steam in the form of the steam– engine, towards the end of the 18th Century. This lead to the steam–loom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Methodology Behind Beer Production And Beer Analysis Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to mimic and understand the methodology behind beer production and beer analysis. The type of beer produced was based on being a Paulener Weissbier clone. Furthermore, this type of homemade beer followed the extract brewing methodology for beer production. The analysis of beer consists of measuring various key factors that the beer industries use to assert the quality of beer. These characterizations of a product are alcohol percentage, SRM Colour, International bitter units and specific gravity. It is important to address that for this specific lab alcohol percentage was replaced with total carbohydrates. This was done since alcohol percentage was extremely hard to quantify with the current ... When the temperature of the water in the source pan reached 150 F the grain bag was introduced into the saucepan. The muslin bag was kept in the saucepan for 20 minutes, under temperatures raging between 155 to 165F, occasionally being squished by a wooden spoon with the intention to promote the extraction of sugars. After the 20 minutes at 155–165F the grain bag was removed and placed in a strainer above the pan. When the water in the kettle reached the boiling point the strainer (with the grain bag in it) was put on top of the kettle. When the strainer was put in place water was slowly poured from the saucepan over the grain into the kettle. The kettle was heated until fully boiling. • 5. Cobra Beer This strategic report analyses several different factors in regards to Cobra Beer. The analysis was focused on the UK market and beer industry. The first section of the report looks at analysing Cobra Beer's external environment via a microenvironment analysis. It accomplishes this in the form of a PESTEL and Porter's 5 Forces analysis. PESTEL was examined in regards to the Beer industry and it looked at several issues, and analysed the critical issues in detail. Porters 5 forces looked at the industry's sources of rivalry. Issues and problems were viewed for both with solutions seen at the end of the report. The external environment subsequently concluded that the beer industry is a very attractive but not a profitable one, as it's comfortable to enter but tough to construct profits. Analysis of the internal environment was later examined through the resource–based view. This looked at the resources and capabilities of Cobra Beer and analysed what resources and capabilities they have, and how they come together to create a competitive advantage. Relevant theories on how Lord Bilimoria acted were subsequently linked. In addition to how creditors were left in debt due to the pre pack administration that was organised, and how this wasn't respectable corporate governance by Lord Bilimoria. World Beer Consumption Claudia Ruiz October 3, 2011 MGMT 80– International Business Written Assignment: The World Beer Industry Beer Around the World Approximately, 100 billion liters of beer are consumed around the world every year (Olfir, 2007). The worldwide growth rate of beer consumption has been recorded for the past 19 years (Kirin Holdings, 2005). This, however, is not to say that the beer consumption around the world is alike. The alcoholic beverage consumption levels around the world and the rates at which these increase vary from one country to another. For example, in India the annual consumption of beer is .5 litters per capita (Gupta, 2007), where as in Czech Republic, the consumption of beer is 156.9 liters per capita per year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the industry could possibly help the economic stability of a country, I believe it does a greater harm to the different nations. I believe that one possibly solution that would allow the beer industry to prosper without causing much harm, is if as they enter a nation to introduce their product, they help create programs that educate people on the consumption of alcohol. I believe that if people are educated on the subject matter and know the consequences of drinking this product, they will continue to consume the beverage but being more responsible. This, in my opinion, will not have a negative affect on the beer industry. Another way that a nation can prevent the consequences of alcohol consumption caused by worldwide brewers is by creating greater taxation or other barriers that would hinder the production and selling of beer in their nation. This scenario, however, might be one that the beer industry might one to avoid. Unlike my first suggestion, this would have a greater negative impact on the industry. Such situation would lower sales in the given country affecting the revenue of the company. I also believe that although the rate of alcohol consumption in many developing countries is increasing, these rates will begin to slow down. The history of Miller Brewing Company began in the mid–19th century, when a determined immigrant, Frederick John Miller, born November 24, 1824, brought his passion for beer to the United States. Miller, who had been a renowned German brewer since 1849, arrived in the United States and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1855. In 1855, Miller purchased a small brewery called the Plank Road Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for $2,300. Through his determination and character, Frederick Miller began building his own American dream – barrel by barrel. He produced the finest quality beer, made from locally grown hops and barley, and using a unique brewer 's yeast that he hand–carried from Germany. (The yeast they use in our beers today is a descendant of that very yeast so treasured by our founder!) Before his death in 1888, Frederick Miller became one of the early pioneers of bottling beer. After his passing, Frederick Miller 's immediate family members continued his legacy, and guided the company with progressive, uncompromising character through two world wars and prohibition. In 1903, Miller named its most popular beer, High Life, and the Champagne of Bottled Beer was born! Today, Miller 's Brewery in Milwaukee (and the historic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Beer Simulation Root Beer Simulation From what I could see, there were not multiple roles to play in this simulation; instead, everyone logging into the simulation appears to play the same role, which was that of the distributor ordering products from the manufacturer and attempting to get them to the customers. This is an important point, because in many ways a distributor has greater flexibility than a retailer and a manufacturer, but, in other ways, faces far greater constraints than business people in other positions. The distributor's role is to get stuff from a manufacturer or other wholesaler and then distribute that stuff to resellers. From reading the instructions, it appears that there are actually different roles to play in the project, but I actually logged in from different computers to see if I would get to play another role in the game, but every time I ended up in the distributor role. One of the interesting things about the simulation was that one did not start from scratch in the project. Instead, the simulation is already running and is in a certain week of production and distribution when the student enters into the stimulation. This means that the student gets both the benefit and the burden of work done by prior students. In my scenario, this ended up having a very detrimental impact on me, because I began with a tremendous backlog of product that my retailers had ordered from me. Contrary to popular belief, that all beers are typically the same, there are many variances in color, flavor, strength, production method, ingredients and origin. Beer can be divided into 2 broad sub–categories: ale and lager. Ales were the first type of beer ever created before brewers knew the role yeast played during the beer making process. Ales typically have more of a malty taste, due to an elevated amount of hops, malts, and roasted malts that are added during production. Ale brewers, typically have more leeway with how they produce their beer, and tend to add a several different ingredients during brewing, like the ones mentioned above. These extra ingredients are referred to as, adjuncts. Brewers of lagers only have a few, simple ingredients: malted grain, hops, yeast, and water. The production method of lagers is somewhat due to the stringent Reinheitsgebot Law, also known as the "German beer purity law". • 24. History Of Beer Brewing Beer And The Styles Of Beer Essay Introduction This paper is intended to review the history of brewing beer, the differences between the breweries, the trends, the process and ingredients used in brewing beer and the styles of beer. Detailed information will be discussed on how to adequately serve beer with food and how to compliment them together to make them appealing to the public. Beer was invented many centuries ago and was first known as a homemaker skill. Over the years beer has become very popular and technology has made the process of brewing beer less complex and more flavorful allowing for extreme success in the brewing industry. Analysis The history of beer is an extensive one, the actual timing and individual that invented beer is unknown. It is estimated that beer was created by accident over 5,000 years ago. "Hard evidence of beer production dates back about 5,000 years to the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia" (Andrews, 2014.) Anastasia Tremaine – March, 2002 VISIT www.paperwriters.com/aftersale.htm –– for more information on using this paper properly! 1.0 Introduction Beer is an immensely popular beverage, but it is one that is associated with a particular country. German beer in fact is seen as the king of all beers. Around the world, Germany's beer is one of the most respected varieties, in part due to the strict legislation that governs brewing, but also because it seems that the German people take great pains to brew a good beer. It is customary and part of their social structure. The majority of people in Germany socialize in pubs, unlike the United States where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brewing beer grew to be a respectable profession (2002). A student writing on this subject might want to note that while it was a profession at the time, today's beers are generally made by large companies. It has been proven that the production of good quality beer demanded certain temperatures, but temperatures at the time prior to refrigeration were only available during the winter ("German beer," 2002). The invention of refrigeration made it possible and did allow for beer to be brewed year round (2002). Another important development was the discovery of microorganisms and after that, the science of the fermentation process had finally been established (2002). 4.0 Location: Where the Beer is Made With the increase in exports, Germany developed world famous beer cities by the time the 1300s rolled around ; Bremen had been the midpoint for beer exports to England, Holland and Scandinavia ("German beer," 2002) . Hamburg had been the brewery of the Hanse but By 1500 there had been about 600 breweries there alone (2002). The Hanse exported beer and some clients were as far away as India (2002). Braunschweig and Einbeck is aligned with bock beer and they are also considered important beer cities (2002). Munich is an important city for beer and the locale where Spaten beer is made. • 26. The Subculture Of Craft Beer 1. What is the subculture's core purpose? What motivates, unifies and drives the members? It's Friday night in the cosmopolitan city of Cape Town and all the cool, hip young professionals are out to celebrate the start of the weekend. After doing a tour of the most popular and crowded bars, I found that all of these partygoers are drinking the same drink: Craft Beer. As a student of ethnography I was interested in this social phenomenon of craft beer in Cape Town, and even more so about this subculture of drinkers that would pay more for a craft beer, then a standard, regular, cheaper beer. "Craft beer" in this context refers to beer that has been brewed locally and has not been distributed by the mass market, for example SAB. After doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In America , Lowes Foods, a locally–bent grocery store chain based in Winston–Salem, North Carolina started selling Craft beer. They installed a "Beer Den," where customers can sample beer and then buy a pint to drink while they shop. This was such a success that they implemented the same strategy in Whole Foods. The in–store taps enable customers to taste different beers and provide opportunities for customers to meet the brewer; a strategy I believe will work well in South Africa. • 29. Descriptive Essay On Beer One Friday night, a few of my coworkers went to Stan's Blue Note on Greenville Avenue in Dallas. This bar had a selection of over 100 bottles of beer. They had a list of the beers. If you wanted, you were able to register and the bartenders would keep a list of the beers that you drank each time you visited. After you drank all of the beers on the list, you were given a t–shirt that indicated your achievement. At the time, most of the good beers were imports. That evening, I had Polar from Venezuela and Dragon Stout from Jamaica. Up until that point, Dragon Stout was the most unique tasting beer that I had ever tried. At first I laughed that it tasted like a cross between beer and paint. As I sipped it and savored the flavor, it grew on me. I liked it so much, I ordered a second bottle. The bartender thought that I was crazy. The bartenders had a microphone behind the bar. They used to harass male patrons who ordered wine coolers. After I got my second bottle of Dragon Stout, the bartender grabbed the microphone, pointed at me and laughed that I was "one sick man." I went to Stan's Blue Note only three or four times after that. I did not attempt to get the t–shirt. Each time I was there, I ordered a Dragon Stout. Dragon Stout was the beer that got me interested in beer tasting. After this, even though I was interested, I did not actively pursue seeking new beers to try. I casually tried new beers, but I did not make an effort. I did not think of keeping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But when the weather is just too nice to pass up that second or third drink, craft beer aficionados are in for a long day – and that's a good thing! The popularity of session beers, beers with full flavor and hop but less alcohol content, is on the rise and Oskar Blues Brewing Company has come out with what they call the "most crushable" beer yet. Released for national distribution back in February, the Pinner Throwback IPA has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of just 4.9% and 35 IBU (international bittering units). The term 'session beers' actually dates back to the World War I era when British legislation limited pub hours to one lunchtime and one dinner time 'session.' During this time rationing put a limit on the amount of alcohol used in brewing, creating lower ABV levels in the beers consumed during these sessions. According to NPR's Doug Tribou it has also been argued that 'sessions' just referred to longer stays at the pub. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first beer was produced in 1995. Taybeh beer was the first Palestinian product to be franchised in Germany, where it was brewed and bottled for sale in Europe. Taybeh beer is considered unique because it is made according to the German purity law of 500 years ago which states that the beer should be made out of four basic natural ingredients: malt, hops, pure water, and yeast, following every aspect of the German brewing process. Taybeh beer produces three varieties: Golden, Light, and Dark. For almost 8000 years these ingredients have been mixed and have been appreciated by all classes of society in almost all civilizations. The laws pertaining to beer in ancient times were very strict. The Code of Hammurrabi in Babylon proved to be more harsh than our laws today. Establishments that sold beer receive special mention in those laws, codified in 1800 B.C. Owners of beer parlors who overcharged customers were sentenced to death by drowning. Those who failed to notify authorities of criminal elements in their establishments were also executed (1). Many of the beer makers and bartenders in the ancient world were women who sold ale under the supervision of the goddess Ninkasi, "the lady who fills the mouth." These Babylonians brewed at least sixteen styles of beer with wheat and malted barley. Egyptians paid their workers with jugs of beer, and Ramses II was said to have consecrated over half a million jugs of it to the gods. In the Nile region beer was flavored with lavender, date, cedar, nutmeg, sugar, and probably hops. The bible's references to unleavened bread suggest that the isolation and deliberate use of yeast was known at the time of Moses. Alcoholic beverages date as far back as 10,000 B.C.E and Sumerians in 2000 B.C.E. had prepared recipes for eight different beer types, ranging from "strong," "red brown," and "good dark" (Mauk, 2013). Breweries have created their own recipes, brewed their own beers– some with alcohol, some without–and most recently there has been the craft beer explosion. Perhaps the Sumerian beer could be argued as the first craft beer. Over the past few years, craft beer has been gaining steady market share from the national and international beer breweries, with a focus on micro breweries and brew pubs (Murray & O 'Neill, 2012). As the largest craft brewery and the seventh largest brewery in the United States, the Boston Beer Company is facing growing competitive threats from larger breweries and premium imported beer companies, including Anheuser–Busch InBev, MillerCoors, Heineken, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium Brewing, and Crown Imports. More than that, it has to face the competitive challenges from the small breweries, which are growing rapidly and want to surpass the Boston Beer Company. Samuel Adams produced by the Boston Beer Company is one of the most popular craft beer because it has won more awards in the beer tasting competitions than any other brewery in the world since 2000 (Dess et al. This strategy has benefited the company because the local distributors are able to brand the beers to their local market needs. I believe that China and Australia are two markets that have great potential for demand of Grupo Modelo 's beers. China recently surpassed the U.S. in total beer consumption. • 39. Beer Simulation Root Beer Simulation At the outset, I have to acknowledge that I had a problem with this simulation. Initially, in my first two orders, I confused the backlog and inventory sections, so that I believed I had a significant surplus in inventory. Therefore, rather than minimizing the bullwhip of supply and demand, I exacerbated the problem by limiting my supply well below the number of orders coming in, much less below what I could fill with the backlog and incoming orders. This error on my part certainly led to increasing instability, not only in my own incoming orders, but also in the entire supply chain. The simulation also kept auto–filling my initial order, which was only 10,000 cases, despite me ordering a significantly larger number of cases. I could not get the simulation to operate properly and allow me to place a larger order. It kept auto–ordering the 10,000 cases. I could not get it to place an order other than 10,000 cases. Because of this glitch, I continued to increase my backlog. I simply could not order more than 10,000 cases. I address this issue because the glitch certainly impacted my opinion of the computer simulation as a means of learning. In this scenario, the initial computer simulation was absolutely worthless as a learning tool. I made an error in my first order, but I do not think that error was meaningful.
