Assistance to users for acquiring information skills is
one of the professional goals of information specialists;
The formation of information culture is a part of the
professional activity of the librarian, who must learn to
learn others;
The need to develop an information culture is becoming
increasingly important due to the omnipresence of
electronic resources, library products and the growth of
Internet use as a source of information;
The academic librarian, being an exponent of the
academic community, plays a very important role in the
implementation of the information culture.
ARGUMENT
USARB Scientific Library and Information Literacy
The USARB Scientific Library, an innovative
institution, supporting education, research and
lifelong learning, supports and aligns itself with
international standards on information culture, global
trends in providing modernized information services,
creating a unique information space for the academic
environment in the Republic of Moldova.
The library supports awareness, promotion and
innovation in the information culture, and collaborates with
other institutions to fulfill this role, which is a strategic one in
educating users.

In June 2016-2018, USARB librarians attended the Summer School. The events were
organized within the Projects : ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher
education (CBNE) "Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in
Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming
libraries [LNSS]”, and “Modernization of University Libraries Services from
Moldova”, financed by the Norwegian Cooperation Program in Higher Education with
Eurasia, developed in partnership between the Academy of Economic Studies of
Moldova, the University of Bergen, Norway, the Transylvania University of Brasov,
Romania and 18 university libraries in Moldova.

Information literacy is the prime condition of the professionalism and success of
the future specialist in any field. Thus, in parallel with the professional training, the
student must acquire skills and experience in scientific information, developing his/her
information skills.
Both information and documentation scientists, especially librarians, members
of the educational community, as well as academics involved in information and
learning, must learn to play the leading role in providing information literacy.
Using their creative capacities and professional opportunities and leveraging on
integrated curricula, librarians need to actively contribute to the learning process by
helping students to build and develop their skills, knowledge and values to continue
studying throughout their lives.
So, the library, coming to support the education system, has been, is and will
remain the one that provides permanent and unconditional assistance for real
performance.

Assistance to users for acquiring information skills is one of the professional goals of information specialists; The formation of information culture is a part of the professional activity of the librarian, who must learn to learn others; The need to develop an information culture is becoming increasingly important due to the omnipresence of electronic resources, library products and the growth of Internet use as a source of information; The academic librarian, being an exponent of the academic community, plays a very important role in the implementation of the information culture. USARB Scientific Library and Information Literacy The USARB Scientific Library, an innovative institution, supporting education, research and lifelong learning, supports and aligns itself with international standards on information culture, global trends in providing modernized information services, creating a unique information space for the academic environment in the Republic of Moldova. The library supports awareness, promotion and innovation in the information culture, and collaborates with other institutions to fulfill this role, which is a strategic one in educating users.

In the strategic planning workshops with the support of the Pro Community Center and the company CONT-M ASSIST within the project „Modernizing the services of university libraries in Moldova", the national coordinator dr. The events were organized within the Projects : ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher education (CBNE) "Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]”, and “Modernization of University Libraries Services from Moldova”, financed by the Norwegian Cooperation Program in Higher Education with Eurasia, developed in partnership between the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, the University of Bergen, Norway, the Transylvania University of Brasov, Romania and 18 university libraries in Moldova.   • 29. Information literacy is the prime condition of the professionalism and success of the future specialist in any field. Thus, in parallel with the professional training, the student must acquire skills and experience in scientific information, developing his/her information skills. Both information and documentation scientists, especially librarians, members of the educational community, as well as academics involved in information and learning, must learn to play the leading role in providing information literacy. Using their creative capacities and professional opportunities and leveraging on integrated curricula, librarians need to actively contribute to the learning process by helping students to build and develop their skills, knowledge and values to continue studying throughout their lives. So, the library, coming to support the education system, has been, is and will remain the one that provides permanent and unconditional assistance for real performance.
