Location Evaluation

1. Location recce – For Mind Over Matter
My location is coppice farm field. It is very open and is quite at certain times, suiting the theme
and atmosphere I want to create around my short film itself.
I have chosen this location because, it is very open and contribute towards me portraying the
ideas behind my short film. My main idea behind the location is that the character present in
the film wants a sense of being crowded and by having such an open space that will, contribute
to the emphasis of the suffocation being portrayed on the character in their emotions.
Healthy and safety, is good and risks are at a bare minimum, it’s an open space with very little
occupation throughout the day, all actors involved and equipment’s is at low risk of any
damage, with the area being very quiet at the periods we wish to film in. However to ensure
total safety we will still follow standard safety procedures such as wired or props being stored
properly and even set up properly so the risk is reduced even further. The actors are not
needed to follow any sort of dangerous actions, so again minimal risk, as the film is only
consisting on minimal action of walking, with no intense action scenes such as a fighting scene.
Lighting level, will depend on the weather conditions, but general will by filmed on an overcast
day meaning lighting will be suited towards the genre of the film, and the atmosphere I want to
present in the filmitself.
Nosie level, will also be minimal due to the area being quite mostly at time of filming, so noise
interruption is very unlikely, however this sound not affect my film as a whole as no noise will
be used from that day of filming, as everything is going to be added in editors where that is a
voice over or sound effects following the short film itself.
Overall suitability
Overall it is a good fit for what I want out of the location, is provides all aspect to what I would
intentionally want out of it. It will not pose any threats, to both actors or equipment, and will
be a quiet place in order to film. So for this I will be filming at this location.
