pedestrians.

I believe that this photo was taken during the 1920’s during prohibition. This is based on
their clothing and the cobbled streets. I think that the people with jugs are pouring out
bathtub gin because that’s what I want it to be. They could be celebrating a new
underground sewage system.
3. What message do you think the photographer was trying to convey?
I think that this photo could have been in a newspaper to convey that the government is
going to take down anyone who breaks the law.
4. Why is this photograph important to history?
I think it is, it tells one side of prohibition the government’s side. It is certainly a powerful
photo.
