3. TWITTER
• I used Twitter to contact Sia who was the artist that I needed to ask permission from
to use one of her songs. I have used this software before however I haven’t ever
really tweeted and especially tweeted someone directly. It wasn’t a technology I had
used in AS so it meant by doing this I learnt how to tweet someone directly.
However the thing I found not so useful about this software was that due to the
artist being really famous she has a lot of followers meaning the chance of her
responding to me was very unlikely.
4. GOOGLE
• I used Google to research a lot of background knowledge on the genre I wanted my
music video to be, and artists who are in that particular genre. I also was able to
search the record company that Sia is signed to so that I could try and see if there
was anyway I could contact them. I use this software all the time and its very useful
as when you search anything into the search bar you get a lot of suggestions
leading you down all different pathways.
5. YOUTUBE
• I have used this a lot in the past and its very useful as you can type in anything you
want to watch and it will come up and also have different versions. This was useful
when watching Sia’s videos as I could see what type of things she does in the video
and what type of people are in it and what they are doing. I could then also watch
other pop artists videos aswell. I will use this software later on when uploading my
own video to the schools Youtube channel which will allow anyone to watch my
work and they can comment and like and dislike it which is good for audience
feedback.
6. BLOGGER
• Blogger was introduced to me at the start of AS and since then I have progressed a
lot wit using the programme. It’s an easy way to upload work and anyone is able to
view what I post. So for teachers its good as they are able to see my work and what
level I'm at with it. The disadvantages of it is that you cant always upload large files
and you cant directly upload things such as word documents you have to use
another programme for that.
7. OUTLOOK
• This is a useful software for communication amongst others. In pre-production in
our class we did a small focus group on type of ideas we thought that the person
should include in there music video by listening to their song. We emailed them our
ideas and then they were able to then take the ideas and create their video. If you
don’t delete your emails it was a good place to hold ideas and others thoughts and
allowed me to communicate with the teacher for any questions I had to do with my
work. I use outlook a lot however this year I found out how to put all my media
emails into a folder so that they were all together.
9. CANON CAMERA, SD CARD, TRIPOD
• I used the canon camera to film all of my video and it allows you to zoom, manually
and automatically focus. It does pick up surround sounds yet I didn’t use them
because I was just using the music. The SD card was a 16GB and stored all my
footage. I also used a tripod to balance my camera to ensure that my shots were
stable and I captured the whole of the location and my actors. I felt that due to my
short clip last year I knew how to use the camera a lot better and was able to ensure
it was always in focus and that the SD card was unlocked and the tripod was at the
right heights.
10. PREMIERE PRO
• This software is what I used too edit my music video. It allowed me to put all my
clips together and make a video! You can crop or lengthen videos, add effects, slow
or fasten clips, change colours, add tints or lighting effects. I enjoyed using this
software and found that I have progressed and know how to use it more after AS
level. I didn’t need to ask for as much help due to knowing what different subtitles
on there did which allowed me to add more after effects to my video.
11. PHOTOSHOP
• I know how to use this software confidently which allowed me to create my digipak
and poster easily and put my images together to a high standard. This software is
good for editing pictures and either completely changing them e.g. into a ’hand
drawn’ sketch or by adding lighting effects. I enjoy overlapping images to create a
new one or by making them into a collage which is what I did for my digipak and
poster.
13. EMAZE
• I had never used emaze before until now where I was taught how to use it by a peer.
Its an easy way to create a presentation in an interesting way. There are many
different designs and templates or you can create your own. I found it quite
challenging to use at first but once I had used it a few times I was able to know how
to add text, images and a new slide.
14. PREZI
• This year I feel I've had more of an opportunity to explore this software. I have
gained a stronger understand of how to make a presentation in an interesting way
and I feel this is reflected in my work. It’s a very useful way to present in a logical
way but you don’t have to do that and there are guides there to help you if you
want to try something different.
