Advanced searching techniques

 1. 1. Advanced Searching Techniques:How to Get Better Results!
2. 2. Put quotation marks around keywords that you want to make sure your search includes!
This will give you only exact matches in your search result list.
Your results will be more specific and narrowed down to more appropriate matches.
Quotation Marks
3. 3. Use Quotation Marks
4. 4. When you want to search for two words not directly next to each other, then you should include AND in your keyword search.
This ensures that both words will be included in the search results.
Another way of doing this is to include a “+” sign between the two keywords.
Using AND in Searches
5. 5. Using AND
6. 6. Sometimes you will need to narrow your results by including NOT between keywords.
This causes the first keyword to appear in the results, but removes any results that contain the second keyword.
You can also accomplish the same thing by typing a “-” in front of the word that you do not want to include in the results.
Using NOT in Searches
7. 7. When you would like either of the keywords or all of the keywords to show up in your result list, then you should type OR between them.
Using OR in Searches
Example: cats OR felines
8. 8. Using OR
