2. Hi!
I am going to be explaining
how Isadora and Lauren's
media product uses, develops
and challenges forms and
conventions of real media.
P.S. all of the information
that I am about to tell
you, they have told me
personally… lol
3. As you can see, they have created the
title frame with very little detail. This is
seen as ‘gripping’ as they haven’t given
much information away and kept it very
plain.
4. They used Isadora’s house as they
thought that they could create the
creepy affect from the size of the house
and as shown in the frame above the
limit to lighting.
5. As you can see there is a
consistent colour throughout the
hallway to give it the plain and
emotionless feeling.
6. In this scene they have used everyday props
(facial cream & towel) this is to make the
audience go back to the feeling that
everything is ‘normal’ again.
7. They have also kept the colours very plain,
this is to put emphasis on what is about to
come next, but at this moment of time the
audience don’t know that.
8. In this frame, the editing was done so
that they captured the ‘Black figure’ in
the previous frame, but in this frame,
disappear. To be able to do this they had
to watch many different videos to find a
way of filming it to get it right.
9. To be able to film this right, they had to
use the stereo typical hand held camera
to give off the tension. This scene was
filmed in one continuous action at a fast
pace so the audience cannot presume
what is about to happen.
10. The way that they have kept the title
very plain indicates the creepiness of the
‘unknown’ throughout the film opening.
This emphasises that the opening is
clearly a thriller by the black background
and subtle writing.
11. The opening sets up the story by a
teenager, that seems very lonely. This is
shown in the way of this teen being all
by herself in a big open space with only
her mind as her company.
12. The way that this portrays the rest of
the story is that she is battling this
issue with schizophrenia all alone.
Throughout the whole of the film opening
she is always unaccompanied, except when
she has an ‘attack’.
13. The opening clearly states that the
film is a thriller. The way that we
have differentiated this from a
horror is by giving the opening
realistic features in comparison to a
horror.
14. The characters in the film are first
introduced in the park where our
main character has one of her
‘attacks’. This gives the audience
the very first opinion towards both
the characters.
15. We wanted the first introduction to
both characters properly to have a big
impact on the audience. This is because
we wanted them to feel sympathy for
the lonely teen, and a scared feeling
towards the black figure.
16. The only special effects we used on the
video was adding in a fade to white at
a very fast speed, to give it the effect
that there were glitches to show
someone taking photos of the girl.
17. Thankyou for listening… and I
hope you now understand how we
created our film opening to
match thriller film conventions.
