How did you attract final
1.
2. When planning our film opening our
genre was a hybrid of a thriller and social
issues.
During the production of our film
opening we began to realise that our
genre was changing and was becoming
more a thriller.
3. We wanted to aim our film opening at
teenagers of both genders from 16-25.
We targeted more at girls due to props
we used in our film opening e.g. Kate
Moss lipstick.
4. We have used many different types of camera
angles to entice our audience. We used the
rule of thirds during the poisoning of the water.
By doing this we’re making the cup being the
subject and we used many ways to intensify it.
For example we took different shots of the cup
to show how dangerous it was. The cup also
links to the editing as we sped it up to show
how quickly it could kill. We also used non-
diegetic sound which we added a fizzing noise
to make the drug inside the cup seem more
intense. This helps to attract the audience as it
links more to the thriller side of the film.

6. The light is a symbol of danger and we
used the flame of the lighter to intensify
the death of a victim. We used the
lighter to link to the male gender as our
film is very female orientated. We did a
survey and results came back that males
between the ages 16-20 would rather
see fire in a thriller than any other
aspects.
9. Our intended audience was females and we
decided that even though we were
challenging a stereotype of lesbians we
wanted to intensify the feminine side. We used
Nikes to show the ‘butch’ side and the colour
pink to show the girly side of our main
character. 6/10 girls in a business class have
said that by having a key prop such as shoes
attracts them into watching a film. We used
camera angles such as extreme close ups on
the shoes throughout. The shoes are always on
the feet of the murderer which gives a little bit
away to the audience.
10. We have used many diegetic sounds such as
the train going by during the suicide jump.
We added non-diegetic such as the fizzing of
the cup and the flame of the lighter.
Throughout the whole film opening we have a
track playing through (ambient sound)
We have used sound in many different aspects
to target our audience and we used sound to
intensify the message that were sending to the
audience. The sound behind the whole film
opening helps create a feeling for the
audience and sets the mood.
11. We sped up and slowed down some clips
to help intensify them e.g. We sped up the
running up the stairs to relate more to our
thriller and to get the audience on the
edge of their seats.
We used overlays on the clips to create
different moods. We used black and white
over the clips of Nadia sleeping and we
used an overlay over the nightmare clips to
make them seem as a dream. We used
effects such as soften to make the clips look
more realistic as a dream.
12. We used photos that our audience
would linked to. The first victim we had
a photo of a ‘selfie’ between Nadia
and Megan. ‘Selfies’ are used a lot by
teenagers and we have used this to
target them more. The second victim
between Nadia and Lauren we used a
picture at a party. We used this picture
as it related to our audience.
13. We know that many teenagers have
struggled to ‘come out’ to their families. We
wanted to use this in our film opening. We
decided to have a main character as
lesbian and she’s a psychopath due to not
being able to tell her parents about her
orientation. We wanted to leave that part
out in order to find out in the film. We
wanted to use this as it would made the
audience think and would hold curiosity in
their minds.
