2. INTRO : GIST
• G : Mothers’ role to stay at home to take care of the things has changed
over time due to the increase in education and literacy rates, and also how
women is having more rights in today’s society.
• I :The perception that women should only stay at home to take care of the
household chores and the children is changing. The change in economy
results in people wanting to come out to the workforce.
• S : However, it is important still, that mothers maintain their role in parenting
as it affects the child’s development.
• T :Thus, Mothers play a crucial role in parenting regardless of how times are
changing and has changed.

3. PEEL 1
• P : Both parent play an important role in nurturing the children when they are of a young age,
especially maternal support.
• E :Thus, it is important for the mothers to stay at home and teach their children the proper values
and correct their behaviors as they are the ones the child looks up too at that age.
• E :Also, it is evident in families with parents that are both working, that the children may be more
ignorant and have a bad upbringing without the guidance of their parents in the early stages of
lives. Report shows that Full-time maternal employment that begun before the child was three
months old was associated with significantly more behavior problems reported by caregivers at age
4½ years and by teachers at first grade; also, children whose mothers worked part-time before
their child was one year old had fewer disruptive behavioral problems than the children of mothers
who worked full-time before their child’s first birthday. This increased risk for behavioral difficulties
was apparent at age three, and during first grade.
• L : Mothers who work outside definitely leaves an impact to the upbringing of the children and
therefore they should stay at home in the early stages of child development.

4. PEEL 2
• P : Many may argue that you can take up a job and hire a helper to take care of your child but as
one knows, this will certainly dampen the child’s relationships with their mothers.
• E : Children who get to interact with the parents since a young age have shown to lead to
better relationships with their parents when they grow up. If both parents are not at home, the
child will feel very lonely and detached from this home, which may lead to psychological
problems in the future.
• E : Studies have shown that family presence is very important during the early stages of child
growth. poor communication during this period can lead to the child feeling lost, empty and
insecure. Also in the area of family relations, researchers have shown that adolescents with
working mothers, were more involved in running the home, but had more disagreements with
their parents than those in families with non-working mothers.
• L :Thus, it is important for the mothers to stay at home to foster a good relationship with the
child.

5. PEEL 3
• P : However, once the child reaches a certain stable age, of 6-7 years old,The mother can definitely step
out to the work industry, to contribute to the family’s income.
• E :When the child are of an older age, the change of events in the family will lead to a positive change as
during this period, the child can learn slowly to be more independent. At the same time, the mother can
help in lessening the stress on the father.
• E : Parents who are too protective of a child can lead to certain disadvantages like spoiling the child, and
the child not being to be as independent as others. The child would then need to catch up on their
own. Also, weight management during the early years is crucial to maintain a healthy child. Studies have
shown that working mothers lead to a higher rate of children with obesity.A 2003 paper found that for
every 10 hours a mother worked every week, the child's chances of obesity increased by 1 to 1.5
percentage points.A 2007 study of Japanese schoolchildren found that kids of full-time working moms
had higher BMIs and were more likely to be overweight compared with other children.
• L :Thus the role of the mothers in the family may change over time. but it is still important for the mum
to be at home when the child is young, to ensure that they are taught wisely before they go out to
work.

6. CONCLUSION
• The presence of the mothers in the home have various
impacts which will undoubtedly benefit the child in the long
run. If the mother is absent during the early stages of child
development, the child may be brought up to have the wrong
values and of certain disapproving behavior.
