More Service, More Efficient
Processes, People, Technology
The IDS model for success is better processes managed and monitored
by dedicated, competent staff, supported by the industry’s leading
technology.
Better Processes
It’s not the number of carriers you can access, but the level of commitment
you have from those you do access. The core of IDS’s successful strategy is
developing close relationships not only with our clients, but also with our
vendors. The result is reliable, excellence service at very competitive rates.
By focusing on relationships, IDS is also able to develop unique
transportation offerings that“load board”logistics companies just can’t
provide. Ask your IDS rep for more details!
Our transportation management abilities are leveraged for you whether
you engage IDS to manage your entire transportation program or just a
small part of it.
Empowered, competent staff
IDS has developed the right model and processes supported by leading
technology, but our staff’s ability to leverage these capabilities for you
adds the difference making value. Our team members know the needs of
their clients and how to recognize opportunities for service improvements
or cost reductions. They know that the lowest cost does not always come
from the lowest price carrier in a mode but from opportunities to change
modes or modify programs.
“IDS has creatively helped Pharmavite deliver on its on-time
promise to retailers while helping us save on transportation
costs. Their team works closely with our manufacturing facility
to manage complex orders and client needs seamlessly.”

Q: Why contract transportation services?
IDS can design innovative solutions to allow the client to excel in the
market place. IDS constantly monitors costs and efficiencies to keep
clients informed of any industry changes and to pass along cost savings.
IDS delivers comprehensive solutions that provide ongoing options and
solutions.
Q: What experience does IDS have?
IDS has been in business 50 years. The company’s private owners are actively
engaged in the management and direction of the company, keeping IDS
focused on providing customer value while offering a safe, reliable choice
for clients’ truckload, LTL, intermodal, and other transportation mode
management.
Q: If IDS manages my transportation, won’t I lose control of it?
A: No. You gain control of your freight! You can still determine your carriers
if desired, while IDS’provides the tools to give you more visibility, more
insight, and more leverage on your spend.
Q: Isn’t transportation just about the lowest lane rates?
Not necessarily. IDS believes that consistent on-time delivery, responsive
customer service and tailored programs to match client needs are equally
important measures of value.
Q: Is intermodal for right for my firm?
Often yes, but not always. Intermodal can add a day or more to in-transit
times although, in some cases, the transit days could be equal to over-the-
road times. Intermodal line haul costs are generally 25% to 50% lower than
over-the-road costs.
Q: Can I maintain visibility of my shipment if it’s on the rail?
Yes! Because of the technology used by IDS and relationships established
between IDS and the rail providers, real time visibility to the shipment is
usually available 24/7. Additionally, advanced systems are available to the
clients via password protected Web connections 24 hours a day. The secure
systems are built for reliability and data protection.
Q: Does IDS have strengths in other modes?
Yes! While IDS is a true intermodal company and intermodal is a key
competency, we are equally adept in working with other modes of
transportation and have strong relationships with providers in all areas.
Q: Does IDS own assets?
A: No. IDS is in the business of transportation management. The company
fosters relationships with select industry leaders in trucking, LTL and rail in
order to leverage the strengths of each for the benefit of IDS clients.
Q: Is there a benefit to working with a full-service 3PL like IDS?
A: IDS delivers a comprehensive solution that provides clients more options
and more value. As your company continues to grow, IDS will continue to
offer cost effective solutions. Deploy our services a la carte or as a complete
package.
