Designed to respond to this very public site, it balances the need for a calming, healing environment with the stringent technical requirements of an integrated multi-disciplinary healthcare facility. The new LEED Gold-designed 78-bed facility anchors a terminus of the community’s central Grand Canal. Aimed at addressing the significant demand for specialist medical treatment in the region, the facility will provide multi-disciplinary health care services through a Spine Center, Knee and Sports Medicine Center, and a Wellness and Diagnostic Center. Appearing to float on the Grand Canal, jewel-like glass forms – connected by a plinth – capture the calming serenity of water, with a shimmering reflection of the faceted structural system. Patients are afforded easy access and views to nature and vibrant life; expressing the importance of healthcare in modern, healthy communities. Interiors reinforce a consistent theme of patient care and service, taking cues from hospitality design to provide a luxurious, yet sleekly modern healing environment that visually reinforces the state-of-the-art services provided within. The use of warm woods and soft, clean color palettes in the interior are designed to put patients and families at ease. VIP suites, consisting of a patient room and an adjoining family room, and typical inpatient acute rooms provide spaces of respite and 24-hour-plus accommodations, encouraging participatory whole-family healing. The tri-partite design also expresses the continuity and legacy of the nation’s leadership: past, present and future.
