This power point is to show about what I
learned in the unit ‘Consumer and
Economics’. So, I picked six products from
different brands to show about what I
learned. It will show: the product, the
brand, values, marketing strategies, and
how it shows my identity.
Product: Iphone
Brand: Apple
The Iphone values is love to me because, I know many
people who has an Iphone. I wanted an Iphone
because I wanted to fit in with everyone else. That’s
because, all my friends had an Iphone or an Apple
product. So, I felt like I was kind of being left out.
Because, sometimes my friends would talk about
songs and applications on the Iphone, and when
they did I felt like I wasn’t part of the group. So I
went to buy an Iphone. After that, I felt like I was
now part of the group, because I can talk about
songs and applications with them too.
Apple’s marketing strategies is: guilt/ fear/ pity. Apple
made me feel guilty and have fear. That’s because
when Apple markets their product, it me feel guilty
and have fear because, everyone has an Apple
product. It made me feel guilty because, I felt like it
was my fault I didn’t have an Apple product.
Because, everyone had an Apple product except
me. I felt fear because, I was scared that I was the
only that doesn’t have an Iphone. And, everyone
would be talking about the newest songs and new
applications.
Product:
Coloring
Pencils
Brand: Smencils
Smencil’s values is fun because, it is fun to use.
Smencils are coloring pencils that are scented
pencils. It has different colors and scents. When
ever I have the pencils it is very fun to use. For
example: when I am coloring, the colors are very
cool. And, you can smell the different yummy
scents. Scents like: cotton candy, orange, root beer,
etc. It is very different from other coloring pencils.
So every time I use Smencils it is like getting a new
toy, because, I am tired of using ordinary color
pencils. So I keep on buying them because they are
so fun to use.
On the packaging of the color pencils, the marketing
strategies is fact and figures. That’s because on the
packaging it says that the product is made out of
recycled paper. They are trying to get people who
really cares about the environment to buy their
product. When they say and use recycled paper in
the pencil, it makes their brand seem and look
better to people. So, Smencils are trying to say that
the pencils are good for the environment and that
Smencils cares about the environment.
Product: Wallet
Brand: Coach
Coach values is power. It is power because, when I
went to buy the wallet, I felt very important. That’s
because, it makes people feel like they are buying a
very good and expensive product. The Coach store
builds the effect of the value too. Because,
everything is all nice and tidy. All the floors are
shiny, the products are stacked neatly, and even
the sales people looks neat too. That’s makes
everything in the store makes people feel like
power. The sales people who were selling me the
wallet also made me feel important too.
Coach was using perception of beauty as their marketing
strategies. Because when I went to buy a Coach wallet, all
the wallets were showing beauty. By, making the wallets
look all nice and clean. In the show case, the sales people
were always wiping the show cases clean. And making
sure that the Coach products were all clean and perfect
in the show case. When I was in the Coach store, when
people were looking at a product and put them back, the
sales people hurried to put the products all neat and
perfect. Coach thinks that if they use perception of
beauty as their marketing strategy it would have many
people buy their product.
Product: Markers
Brand: Staedtler
Staedtler values are fun. That’s because, staedtler marker
set comes in different colors. The markers either has a
big tip or a fine line tip. So, when you are coloring with
the markers it is fun. You can outline or color in the
picture. I usually use the markers to write, and when I
use them to write it brightens my whole paper. It
sometimes makes writing notes my math notes look
better and helps me have a fun time in math. When you
use the markers, it makes you feel very creative and you
can draw and color just about anything.
Staedtler marketing strategies is ideal kids (or families).
Because, when I saw the advertisment of the markers,
it was showing a some kids with the markers and
they were having fun coloring. So, I thought that if I
buy the markers then I will have fun using them too,
just like the kids in the ad. I even saw some of my
friends using Staedtler markers and having fun with
them just like the kids in the advertisement. The
advertisements gave the feeling that the markers are
very good to buy and use.

The value that Hollister shows is power. That’s because,
everyone knows what Hollister is. Hollister is a
popular brand, but is kind of expensive at the same
time. Many people always or wants to buy clothing
from Hollister. Because, it makes them feel
important. When I wear a Hollister shirt, it always
makes me feel important. Because, I am wearing a
popular brand product. So, I feel important, but
Hollister is also sometimes expensive too.
Hollister marketing strategies is: perceptions of beauty.
That’s because when I saw the shirt I really wanted a
Hollister shirt. The shirts are very cool looking and I
saw many people wearing it. And when other people
were wearing the clothing it look something very
pretty to wear. It was showing a lot of beauty,
because you can’t buy a shirt like that any where else.
Hollister in some way has people advertise their
clothing for them, even though the people doesn’t
know that.
Product: Bracelet
Brand:
Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. values are: freedom. The value is
freedom because, I feel independent wearing my
Tiffany & Co. bracelet. When I go places I usually
don’t see people wearing a bracelet like mine. To
me it makes me feel much different than everybody
else. Because I know that I don’t wear clothes and
accessories like everyone else.
Tiffany & Co. uses perception of beauty as their marketing
strategy. When ever I go into the Tiffany shop, I see
everything perfect. For example: the sales people and
products are all in perfect order. The sales people are
speaking perfectly, as in nicely. And the products (the
necklace, bracelets, rings, etc.) are stacked and placed
perfectly, and the products are all clean. There is no
finger smudges on the glass or anything. It made me
want to buy the whole store because it was all so perfect
