5. The Opportunity
Through primary and secondary research the team discovered a treasure of opportunity
Solution
• Kryptonite product will have zero satellite
particles. Kryptonite is simply spheroidizing or
“refining” powder of the same micron range
• Kryptonite powders and parameter settings will
reduce build time
• Plasma atomization is proven to produce
extremely low porosity powders that have very high
flowabilty
• Through carefully chosen supply chain, kryptonite
will source custom composites of the highest
caliber that are strongly demanded from academia
Problem
• Abundance of satellite particles and uneven
size distributions which affect overall part
performance. Users must sieve powders which
is very labor intensive
• Build times are too slow
• Inconsistent size distribution and porosity
problems
• Strong demand for custom powders and
composites currently not served by present
market suppliers

7. The Process
Kryptonite will begin with maximum production of 5 tonnes of metal powder annually and then scale up
Using Kryptonite’s Plasma Atomizer, metal powder is refined;
making it spherical.
This is the core of Kryptonite’s business.

8. Kryptonite is a high quality refiner of metal powders for metal 3D printing
Angular to Spherical
Traditional water atomized powder
(upper left) is angular, with a wide
array of particle size
Gas atomized powder (upper right,
lower left) is much more spherical,
but still suffers from a large size
distribution
Plasma atomized powder (lower
right) combines high sphericity with
a tight size distribution

9. Powder Bed Fusion is the most common & innovative metal Additive Manufacturing technology
This is the 3D printer that
requires the metal powder
Kryptonite will be selling.
Kryptonite is primarily
targeting colleges,
universities and research
facilities that have a 3D
printer for research.

10. Applications
Emissions legislation has had a
large impact on manufacturing
practices in the automotive sector.
Requirements for lighter, more
efficient vehicles are forcing
designers and manufacturing
engineers to constantly seek new
ways to produce the next
generation automobile.
Hip implant created using PBF
technology.
Fully porous 3D printed titanium
femoral stem.
Reduces stress on bones-porous
femoral stem “tricks” body into
believing it is bone. This reduces
discomfort and future surgery.
Metal 3D printing allows
engineers to design &
develop like never before.
Conformal cooling mold inserts are
proven to reduce waste, Increase
part quality and cycle times.
Kryptonite’s D2/17-4PH steels and
Aluminum will serve this market.

11. The Business Model
Kryptonite will sell direct and through distributors:
Sell direct with a minimum order of 10 kgs.
Charge competitive prices dependent on prospects
current supplier and other information.
Partner with service bureaus and academia for
quality, promotion and distribution purposes.
Make money through cost-plus pricing.
**Kryptonite is in partnership talks with supplier - if
negotiation goes well, Kryptonite will become a
low cost producer of high quality powders**
