Persuasive Speech About Macaw
All MacawsAll Macaws is a family owned and operated Large Macaw breeding facility and
specialty supply boutique, located in beautiful rural New Jersey. Our facility is completely closed to
the public for the health and safety of our birds. Experts in the housing, care and feeding of these
gorgeous birds, the owners Chris and Nick Petrosh, along with their wonderful daughter Stephanie
Perri, breed some of the most beautiful, healthy and well socialized macaws on the market today. All
of their babies are incubator hatched and lovingly handfed from day one. All Macaws is one of the
few aviaries that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Blue and Gold would crack his own mixed in–shell nuts, but could not crack the macadamia
nuts. The Blue and Gold would give the macadamias to Goliath and actually put the nut into the
beak of this baby Hyacinth and wait for the him to crack the nut. Then the Blue and Gold would
gently take the macadamia nut out of the mouth of the Hyacinth. Obviously those birds are good
buddies!! Now, if you can trust your friend to crack
your nuts for you, you are in good hands. I incubate hatch and handfeed from day one every 45
minutes around the clock with each one of my babies. With a schedule like that, with as many babies
as we have, I naturally get very, very tired. But I love the macaws so much that I don't mind a bit.
All birds are special, but the Large Macaws are very near and dear to my heart. When they are
young, I carry them in baskets through the house with me. They all have their own toys and they get
lots of play time. They watch tv and they have a particular fondness for children's shows due to the
bright colors, intonation and music that usually accompany these programs.

Ecological Niche Of The Kakapo
Habitat:
The kakapos are quite solitary. They normally live alone and have large ranges, travelling several
kilometres in one night. The males range from 15–30 hectares, females 35–50 hectares (to find food
for young). Because they are solitary birds by nature, when ranges overlap they make a noise called
'skraarking ' to keep a distance from each other. Kakapo used to be found through most of New
Zealand, from lowland forests to mountain grasslands. They are now extinct on the mainland, the
last survivors having been moved onto three offshore islands– Codfish, Maud and Little Barrier. The
islands they live on today are all reserves with no predators except kiore (Polynesian rats).

The graph adjacent demonstrates the drastic decline and the comparatively gradual controlled
increase of this species.
Kakapo formerly prospered throughout most of the North, South and Stewart Islands, New Zealand.
Although it vanished from most of its initial range throughout human colonisation, the species
persisted copious in Fiordland and some other higher–rainfall and more meagrely populated portions
of South Island until the early twentieth century. By 1976, however, the recognized population had
been condensed to 18 birds, all males, all in Fiordland. In 1977, a rapidly diminishing population of
150 birds was exposed on Stewart Island. Between 1980 and 1992, 61 remaining Stewart Island
birds were relocated to offshore islands, and are currently situated on Codfish and Anchor Islands.
The last acknowledged North Island record was in 1927. In 2009, a male which was one of four
transferred from Stewart to Codfish in 1987 was rediscovered after having been missing for 21
years. As of November 2005, birds are still present on four islands: Codfish, Chalky, Anchor and
Maud. In 1999, 26 females and 36 males endured, containing 50 individuals of breeding age, six sub
adults and six infants. The population alleviated, and has started to gradually rise following the
depiction of concentrated management. By 2005, the kakapo population stood at 86, of which 52
were breeding adults and 34 were infants; a prolific

What Are Monk Parakeets Affect Birds?
Monk parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus) are an introduced species and are native to South America
in areas such as central Bolivia and central Argentina (Avery, 2006). These birds arrived to the
United States in the 1960s due to accidental as well as purposeful introduction. These parakeets now
thrive in places like New York, Connecticut, and Florida, to name a few (Johnson, 2009; Avery,
2012). Monk parakeet nests are built on natural and man–made areas. Some of these structures
include radio towers and light poles. The nests are occupied year round. However, unlike parrots,
parakeet's nests are built out of sticks rather than in found openings (Spreyer, 1998). Their nests are
built in a way so that there are openings, called chambers, where ... Show more content on

The goal for this project is to determine if the construction patterns between each nest are the same
from one to the next. Since monk parakeets build nests in several different areas ranging from lamp
posts to trees, this project will be done to see if the same species of trees are used for each nest. The
determination of species will also establish the question of how these birds think when nests are
built. Data gathered in a previous research project done at the Brooklyn College Biomimetic and
Cognitive Robotics Laboratory concluded that monk parakeets use sticks found from a variety of
trees to build nests (Lee, 2015). Studying sticks from a fallen nest and using a program called
ARCGIS is a method of determining how far the birds had to go to obtain the sticks. ARCGIS is
able to map out the species of trees in a general area. Measurements of the sticks such as diameter,
length, and mass will be used to determine what species it belongs to. However, due to the large
amount of sticks within a nest, only 5% of the sticks have been studied. ARCGIS will then be used
to interpret how far the birds had to go to obtain the

Crow For Dinner: Media Worker Dining At A Restaurant
Crow for Dinner Description Henry Payne illustrated a media worker dining at a restaurant, where
the special of the day is crow, in his cartoon "Media Crow" which was published to his website on
November 13, 2016. The media worker on the left side of the cartoon is wearing a suit, tie, and top
hat while he is sitting at a dinner table holding a fork and a knife. On the dinner table, there is a
dead, black crow laying on its back on a plate. Next to the plate of crow there are salt and pepper
shakers. Then, on the right side of the cartoon there is a menu that reads, "TODAY'S SPECIAL:
CROW" (Payne). When all of the attributes of the drawing are put together, it is clear that Payne's
cartoon depicts a representative of the media eating crow. ***** Analysis ... Show more content on

Payne's cartoon implies the idea that the media is wrong, thus they have to eat crow. In the cartoon
there is a media worker who seems to be seated at a restaurant table, and he has been served a plate
of the daily special: crow. The term "eating crow" is used to describe a situation where someone
guaranteed they were right, ended up being wrong, and then having to admit to being wrong
afterwards. Considering the date this cartoon was published, it is safe to assume that Payne is
referring to the media's incorrect predictions about the Presidential Election. Payne is poking fun at
the media for ensuring its viewers that Hillary Clinton would win, when in reality Donald Trump

The Congo African Grey Parrots
The Congo African Grey parrots are a wonderful breed of bird. They are commonly between 26 to
32 cm in length and usually around 450g. They are grey in colour, with a solid black beak, and a red
tail. The average lifespan for a Congo African Grey parrot is 50 years old, though they have been
know to live to around 80 years old.
Congo African Grey parrots are renowned as being one of the most intelligent birds. Congo African
Grey parrots have an excellent ability to talk and to mimic sounds and words. While they are very
intelligent, aware, and quick to learn birds, they can also be sensitive and mischievous. Congo
African Grey parrots are a very unique, bright bird.

Perches are very important for Congo African Grey parrots as they spend most of their time on
them, when they are not flying. The perches should be of varying diameters, though for a primary
perch, the Congo African Grey parrots feet should wrap about ¾ of the way around the perch.
Perches set on opposite ends of the aviary or cage without obstacles in the way is a good idea as it
allows for flight. The perches should be made of varying materials (such as branches from safe trees
such as fruit trees, rope). The perches should be situated so that the parrot 's tail does not hit the
bars. Perches should not be situated to allow access to the food and water dishes, but not over them,
as this can cause hygiene issues.
Congo African Grey parrots are social creatures, they need company of their same breed. To stop
breeding same sex birds can be kept together, or it can be discouraged by not providing a nesting
box. Veterinary advice should be sought if there is any help needed to stop the birds breeding. Along
with company, the Congo African Grey parrot needs plenty of space to fly freely.
Congo African Grey parrots are incredibly intelligent birds, they need plenty of stimulation in the
form of interactive toys, puzzles, bells, and varied bird safe toys to keep them entertained. The toys
and puzzles should be sturdy enough and large enough for the Congo African Grey parrot to play
with, without it breaking or being swallowed. Toys and

My Life In The Life Of Puerto Rico
I sat on the floor between my dresser and the wall, clipping pictures from newspapers that had
accumulated in a pile next to my dresser, in the corner. My mom wasn't too happy about my
'newspaper–hoarding', as she called it, and had told me that I could only keep travel and science
sections of the most recent newspapers in my room. The rest went in the recycling. So I started
fishing them out of the recycling bin. I would then search through them to see if there is anything I
want to trim, trim it, then toss them back in the bin before my mom noticed. Anything that I wanted
to keep to read I stashed in the pile behind my bed. I was sure to read them quickly, though, in case
my mom found out about the pile. I paged through a section and saw ... Show more content on

Cathleen hopped off my bed, where she was reading the comics pages of a newspaper from my
stash, while I begun to stand up, feeling stiff and numb from sitting on the floor for so long. We
rushed out of our room and down the (admittedly very short) hallway to the kitchen table. I hoped
lunch was something warm; maybe soup or chicken with rice. Rather, it was ham and cheese
sandwiches with chopped carrots and ice water. "I'm cold," Cathleen whined. I nearly spit my food
out. "Go put on a sweatshirt, or at least some socks, if you're so cold." I responded tartly. Well, I
tried to sound tart, though I ended up sounding more exasperated than anything else. "No, you do
it!" "Do what?" "Get me a sweatshirt!" "No, I won't. If you really want one, go get it yourself."
"Well I won't." "Come on, Cathleen, just go get one! You're the one who's closer to our room
anyway." It's true. She was closer, even if it was only by two or three feet. But then Cathleen jumped
out of her chair and ran past me, in the opposite direction of our room, through the kitchen until she
was standing against the front door, a smirk on her face. And then the door swung open. It was
hilarious, watching Cathleen's eyes widen as she was knocked forward while swiveling her head to
see who was opening the door. She was able to catch herself by her forearms right before she hit the
floor, then started pulling herself up. "Oh my word! I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were

Hyacinth Macaw Research Paper
Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)
The hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthine) is a parrot homegrown to central and eastern
South America (Wikipedia, 2017). In general these parrots are the largest parrots, about 40 inches in
length (Lafeber, 2017). Their body colour is blue with yellow streaks around eyes and beaks.
Perhaps, the unique feature of this parrot is that the Hyacinth macaw is not having ridges in their
beak. These parrots are having 'toothless beak' (Wild Republic, 2017).
The nesting of Hyacinth macaw begins between July and December. It rely on its predator which is
toucan. The parrot make it nest on the manduvi tree, that parrot needs while reproduction
(Wikipedia, 2017). These macaw are monogamous, they have only one partner for whole life.
Generally, macaw lay two to four eggs with the interval of 25 to 28 days. While female parrot lays
eggs in the nests, she spend most of the time with the eggs and the female macaw is fed by the male
macaw. The chicks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They use their toes as their hands and eat with them. As these parrots are having strong beaks, they
crack the nuts easily. They can easily makes holes in the coconut with their hard beaks (wild

The hyacinth macaw is denoting bird of the parrot family. They are known as 'gentle giants' as they
are calmer than other parrots. These parrots make both high pitch and low pitch noise (sprude,
2017). But now hyacinth macaw is endangered species as they have lost their natural habitat. They
need proper care for health otherwise they will suffer from disease known as Psittacosis and
papilloma (Lafeber, 2017). One of the unique feature of this bird is that they love to play with
humans.

Language does makes humans different from other animals. Language allows humans to
communicate verbally, visually, or written and powerfully. Although most animals can
communicate, either verbally on nonverbally, humans can do it with precision and efficiency
unprecedented. The communication between bacteria, honeybees, and birds show that language
makes us different. Bacteria communicate by secreting molecules to show its presence to others.
This is similar to the part human communication of a greeting but also very different from human
language in the way that there is real interaction. The bacteria are building up to attack but there is
no real communication. Language would be an advantage in this situation in the reason that the

Language is much more than arranging particular sounds, songs, calls, or movement. It is used to
express thoughts and feelings and can even be used to deceive others or tell jokes. No other animal
communication system can put messages together like this. Humans require a certain anatomy in
order to create speech. The larynx is further down the throat which allows us to enunciate clearly
and produce different sounds. Other animals do not have this anatomy meaning that they physically
cannot speak. Chimpanzees for example have thinner tongues and a higher vocal box. Human brains
are born with the circuitry for speech and language and chimp brains are not. This has not restricted
them to develop language, just simply not at the level of humans. Humans learn tens of thousands of
words within a few years. Language is a uniqueness of humans and makes us different from other

The Parrot And The Mockingbird
"The parrot and the mockingbird were the property of Madame Lebrun, and they had the right to
make all the noise they wished. Mr. Pontellier had the privilege of quitting their society when they
ceased to be entertaining"(Chopin 1). The parrot and the mockingbird symbolize the novel 's women
as they are caged. In contrast to Léonce Pontellier who has the freedom to move around. Kate
Chopin utilizes the imagery of birds in order to express how women in this case Edna wish to fly
over social traditions for an opportunity to be free from all restrictions. Bird imagery is a device that
Chopin uses to demonstrate Edna 's disappointment with the fundamentals of the clique of True 19th

Though the narrator was not physically trapped meaning she could have left any time she wanted,
she was excluded and told not to do certain things. The narrator was not allowed to write, and do
any sort of work she was required to rest. There are many symbols in "The Yellow Wallpaper" with
the wallpaper itself being the most important and distinct from all the rest, however there are many
more such as the moonlight, which represents a key motif in the story. The wallpaper first off in the
narrator's room represents imprisonment and this is made clear when she says "Then I peeled off all
the paper I could reach standing on the floor... I 've got out at last," said I, in spite of you and Jane?
And I 've pulled off most of the paper, so you can 't put me back " (Gilman 9)! The narrator asks her
husband repeatedly over the course of the story to remove the wallpaper as it gives her a sense of
imprisonment, however he decides not to remove it and confines his wife to a room that she
despises. Another important symbol in the story is moonlight. The moonlight in the story represents
freedom not only for the woman in the wallpaper but for the narrator herself where she writes " That
was clever, for really I wasn 't alone a bit! As soon as it was moonlight and that poor thing began to
crawl and shake the pattern, I got up and ran to help her"(Gilman 9).The moon is traditionally

Why Do Ducks Quack
Why do ducks quack By Frank Mathura There are two genders of ducks. They are male and female.
There are also baby ducks, called ducklings. All of these different types of ducks quack for different
reasons, and in different ways. The baby ducks, or ducklings, quack when they are in distress. If
they are in danger, or they fear something, they will often quack. Their quack is a soft whistle. An
example of a perilous situation in which a duckling would quack is when it is being hunted by one
of its natural predators. Because ducks are delicious birds, many animals hunt and eat ducks, like
foxes. If the mother duck is away, and the ducklings are in danger from a fox, the will call out in a
whistle, and the mother will come to help, if she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike most birds, ducks do not have a sequential molt. Instead, they have a simultaneous wing molt
in early spring, or sometimes even in summer. They lose all of their primary feathers at once, and
lose their ability to fly, at least until they grow the feathers back. This typically takes around twenty
to forty days. The panic of losing hundreds, or maybe thousands of feathers at once causes the ducks
to quack in fear. But some ducks sound very different when they quack. In fact, only a small
minority of ducks quack in the traditional way. The only ducks that do are a small group of species
in the genus Anas. For example, the American Black duck's quack sounds like a "Donald Duck"
quack. Other species quacks sound like whistles, and cries, and a variety of other sounds. Another
reason people believe all ducks quack the same, traditional way is the popular character, Donald
Duck. He, and other cartoonish ducks played on TV are chosen because of ducks comic appearance.
The quacks we associate with all ducks are chosen for their comedic value, not their factual
accuracy. Because of popular characters like Donald Duck, many children grow up believe that all
ducks quack just like their favorite TV cartoon character. But in reality, nothing could be further

Blue Jays And Robins Compare And Contrast
Do you know the sounds of the birds in the morning? That is the Blue Jays and Robins at work.
Blue Jays and Robins are amazing and wonderful birds. They have a similar diet,a different habitat,
and some similarities in traits. Both Blue Jays and Robins travel in flocks, sometimes with each
other. They have similar lengths too, but a Blue Jay can get a inch longer than a Robin. The Blue Jay
mimics the calls of other animals, while a Robin has its own call. A Blue Jay is a melanian color
with blue and red. Meanwhile a Robin has dark grey, black, dark red, and brown. Blue Jays are
exceedingly well at learning new things, while Robins are not so well at learning new things. Blue
Jays and Robins are omnivores. That means they eat both plants and animals. They both like to eat
caterpillars and fruits. Blue Jays like to eat smaller birds, while Robins like to keep it simple. To
catch their food, Robins, will catch insects while they are in the air, yet Blue Jays will chase off
other animals and hid their food. Sometimes, Blue Jays will even forget where they hide their food.

feminaw Feminist Reading of Kate Chopin's The Awakening...
A Feminist Reading of The Awakening
The Awakening is not new to me. However, in the class when I read it before the instructor refused
to entertain a feminist criticism. The theory presented was that Edna knew what kind of man she
was marrying and all these things she went through: her friendship with Madame Reisz leaving the
house, entertaining her friends at the party, her situation with Robert and Arobin were all selfish
efforts toward the ultimate freedom which is death.
I feel Chopin faults Leonce as much as Edna for Edna's problems. He is a cold fish. He is
controlling and he puts on a show for friends and neighbors "proving" he is a model husband which
he is not. He is Creole and I think Edna, being as reserve ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her search for freedom builds and destroys relationships. She befriends people and then chooses to
ignore them. Her final big party is her final farewell. She brings out all the sensuousness that her
reserve had kept her from expressing and enjoying. Everything pleasing to the senses is there for her
guests. There are colors, textures, tastes, and sounds for the senses to luxuriate. But all this sensory
enhancements doesn't keep her attention. She feels the same old ennui, and the party shortly
thereafter breaks up. Of course, all this meets with Leonce disapproval. His concern is not about his
wife's mental or emotional health, but rather, what people will say.
To experience freedom of the soul Edna has no choice but to return to the sea. It is the only thing
capable of giving her the emotional security and sensual satisfaction at the same time. She goes to it
and allows it to claim her.
Like many of Chopin's stories, The Awakening ends in a death. Chopin apparently sees death as the
ultimate freedom. No matter what we do as women in this world we are always restricted in our
movements by some facet of our lives. While Chopin tries to speak for women, I think this premise
that our lives are restricted also applies to men. There may not be as many restrictions but they are
there. "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to loose."Janis Joplin

Argumentative Essay 'Animal Snoops'
Animal Intelligence Argumentative Essay Have you ever heard a parrot repeat what a human has
said. Is this a sign of intelligence or is it mimic. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use
their intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home.
I believe this because in the passage "Animal Snoops" it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow
eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers
nicknames "JJ". When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted "JJ". The robbers left but then
came back to nab the bird. When they returned, the police was waiting for them. I think this this
proves intelligence. But if this doesn't this will. Monkeys have learned how to crack open nuts with

5 Things you MUST know about your favorite pets – Parrots
Parrots are one of the best gifts of nature, almost fairy tail like appearance makes them one of the
favorite choice as companions and pets. Here are 5 things that Every keeper should know about
his/her bird1. Behavioral Problems?
After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less
frequently than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and
Cockatiels. These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive
behavior. Macaws, even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of "bigness", result of their genetic
traits, and can sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other
species like cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during the
mating season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring–soon to be
hatched. Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to smaller spaces
and can injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... Show more content on

The important thing here is the Introduction phase, you need to be very cautious when introducing
two birds, because this moment will decide rest of their stay. Take extra care when introducing a
smaller bird to a significantly larger one. To introduce them to each other you need to give them at
least 1 day to get familiar with each other, keep their cages side by side, such that one bird can see
the other. On the Next day let the birds play in the same area for some time, but keep a closer eye on
them, do this for 2–3 days and if you see them getting along well then you can put them together.
Else if one of the birds is getting aggressive then give them some more time to familiarize with each
other a little

As well as their striking colors they are a popular parrot to own because of their vocal abilities. They
are considered a close runner up to the African Grey species which is widely held as the number one
talker in the world of parrots. As with many parrots, all Amazon's have the ability to talk but not all
of them actually do, this depends on each individual bird where some birds will never talk and
others turn out to be great talkers. Many consider Yellow headed Amazons to be the loudest of all
Amazons and being playful birds they like to receive attention from their owners and families by
being loud. This loud squawking or screeching however can be trained out of the parrot with human
speech training which most owners opt to do. Overall they are very active, humorous and intelligent
parrots but like most large parrot species they can be destructive which is why it is recommended

The Awakening By Kate Chopin
Birds are the main theme in the novel The Awakening. Many people when they read the first
statement, should be perplexed and try to grasp the concept of how birds can be the main theme of
The Awakening. However, throughout the novel, we see many examples of birds appearing in the
text. Many great authors use the power of symbolism to establish a connection between an object
that seems ordinary to a human counterpart whose actions and intentions are masked by the way the
actions are executed. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin uses birds to represent the different parts of
Edna's life and how they relate to her throughout the text.
The first example of the representation of Edna is seen at the start of the book with the parrot. 'A
green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: "Allez
vous–en! Allez vous–en! Sapristi! That's all right!" He could speak a little Spanish, and also a
language which nobody understood, unless it was the mockingbird that hung on the other side of the
door..."(Chopin 1 ) This bird represents Edna. Not only is this bird caged and trapped in its
environment, but it is also exclaiming and crying for help. This cry can only be heard by the
mockingbird that sits across the room. The mockingbird represents Edna 's true and close friends
that understand the predicament she is in. Edna is able to internally cry to herself and live out her
life as she is expected to. Just like Edna, this parrot in the cage has a

Songbird was nowhere to be seen. Little Wolf ran around to the places where she thought Songbird

Why A Parrot Owner Or Just Preparing For Bring One Home
Whether you are an experienced parrot owner or just preparing to bring one home, there are many
important factors that must be considered. Owning a parrot is an incredible commitment. It requires
24 hour responsibility and an awareness of factors that most people never give a second thought to.
Some of these factors can mean life or death to a parrot. We still do not know very much about how
our day to day living affects our feathered companions, so it 's important to remain up to date and
continue your research every day. Parrots have a very sensitive respiratory system. They have a set
of lungs as well as air sacs that are distributed throughout the body. This makes their breathing
extremely efficient and incredibly sensitive to chemicals and fumes. Scented candles, plug–in home
deodorizers, hair products and perfumes, cigarettes, etc. can cause great harm and even death when
used in the same room as a parrot. If it smells strongly to you, it could be harming your parrot. On
the other side of that, there are many products that we cannot smell that can be just as harmful.
PTFE/non–stick coated cookware, space heaters, self–cleaning ovens, etc. have the potential to off–
gas and release very harmful fumes that can kill parrots in a matter of seconds. Many products are
being manufactured with non–stick parts that are not listed in their manuals/warning paperwork.
This is where doing your research is imperative. If you own your house, there are other dangers to
consider. Pest

Pros And Cons Of Owning An Exotic Macaw
"About 85 percent of parrots are resold, given away, or abandoned within two years of being
purchased," by "There Is No Such Thing as a 'Cage Bird'." From a young age I was always
fascinated by birds; fascinated by their intelligence and feather coloration. My passion and love
grew even bigger when I first saw Leah the Green–Wing macaw on Mickaboos adoption website.
My heart sank and eyes filled up with tears as I read Leah's profile; neglected by five different
families and was given an adoption time frame. If Leah did not get adopted within the given time
frame she would then be euthanized. On November 11, 2014, the day I brought Leah home has
changed my life ever since. Throughout this essay I will talk about how owning an exotic parrot:
macaw can be like having a two year old child rather than a pet. For those that don't know anything
about macaws. Macaws are softhearted, smart, destructive, loud, curious, messy, and demanding as
a 2–year–old child. Many macaw species can live up to fifty years and over if they are taken good
care of. Looking back over the years, Leah the Green–Wing macaw is one of the most complicated
pets I have ever given care to. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

police because he heard someone screaming "HELP, HELP, HELP!" Lets just say I had an
interesting talk with the police officer. I told him that nobody was held hostage and nobody was
hurt; it was just my parrot Leah screaming because she wanted to get out of her cage. Another quite
intriguing experience was when I took Leah on a walk. For some reason my bird loves to bark, yes I

The Awakening Essay
Throughout The Awakening, Kate Chopin conveys her ideas by using carefully crafted symbols that
reflect her characters' thoughts and futures. One of the most important of these symbols, the bird,
appears constantly, interwoven in the story to provide an insight to the condition of Edna's and her
struggle. At each of the three stages of her struggle, birds foreshadow her actions and emphasize the
actions' importance while the birds' physical state provides an accurate measure of that of Edna's.
Early in the novel, while Edna attempts to escape from society's strong grasp, birds emphasize her
entanglement by forecasting her actions and monitor her development by reflecting her feelings. The
novel opens with the image of a bird, trapped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robert does not want to do something wild and unacceptable to society. In a situation parallel to that
of Edna's, the only bird that understands the parrot is the mockingbird (Reisz) that "[is]
whistling its fluty notes upon the breeze with maddening persistence" (1). Because the parrot
continues to shriek, people move it away from their society: "[Mr. Farvial] insisted upon
having the bird removed and consigned to regions of darkness" (23). Society wants to hide the
bird in darkness, as it wants to do to Edna, in order to keep the bird from causing problems. The
bird, like Edna, is the only one "who possessed sufficient candor" to tell the truth about
society (23). Throughout Edna's imprisonment, birds reflect her actions and feelings.
Once Edna begins to escape, however, the birds become important signs of her success in
escaping and continue to foreshadow her actions. Upon hearing Mademoiselle Reisz play
"Solitude", Edna envisions a free bird for the first time. She imagines "a man
standing beside a desolate rock...with hopeless resignation as he looked toward a distant bird
winging its flight away from him" (25). The appearance of a free bird provides an important
sign of Edna's beginning freedom and success. Also, the bird leaves a hopeless and resigned man as
Edna leaves Mr. Pontellier. While Edna relates her love story to Mr. Pontellier and Doctor Mendelet,
she begins to show her feeling of freedom by

In conversation with one of the Macaw trainers at the Animal Kingdom exhibit, I was told to be
careful in choosing the caging material type and surrounding environment (even a tree) for these
Beautiful Macaws. They are known to be very destructive to trees in their aviaries, and are quite
capable of biting into a coconut shell with their powerful beaks, so their cage must be heavy duty,
typically Zoo Mesh or 1:1 steel mesh. The macaws in the images here were trained to fly in from
more than a mile away, get their treats, and then take off and fly one foot above the heads of the
people in the audience, which they did very nicely; all twenty of them! Macaws can have a 4–foot

Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot Essay
Thomas Connell
Jealous Bird Man In Robert Olen Butler's, "Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot", the
narrator finds himself unable to trust or communicate with his wife because of his own vulnerability
and fears of losing her. Tragically it was his fear that killed him in the end; while trying to spy on his
wife and the new guy from the shipping department in his bedroom, the narrator falls from a tree
dying instantly and ironically is reincarnated as a handsome Yellow–nape Amazon Parrot. Although
parrots can mimic sounds or words they hear, it seems there is only more of a communication gap
between the two as fate reunited them together now as a widow and a pet bird. By the end of this
story the differences in the narrator as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a parrot our narrator is forced to come to terms with the fact that no matter how hard he tries to
communicate with his wife or other people, it will prove useless and even if the context fit's the
conversation, they'd think of it as an humorous coincidence. As our narrator hangs onto and tries to
repeat every word to his "wife" says he demonstrates his frustration of being unable to communicate
and his yearning for her to realize it is him. Butler also keeps this story very comedic with the fact
that he is a bird with a grown man's education and allows him to still think and have emotions
similar to a human. Our narrator's wittiness and male pride are still evident in his words no matter
how subtle they are. For example, "up, cracker, peanut, open" and even changing the context from
"pretty bird to bad bird".
This novel is a classic example of many people's lives, which includes fear, jealousy, pride and their
insecurities to name a few. The transformation of the narrator from before his reincarnation until
afterwards is filled with tragedy and grief, but it is through the sacrifice of his own life that he is
permanently freed from his jealousy and egotism. His "punishment" or his purgatory seemed to
prove how good of a person he was all

Sloths Research Paper
Sloths are usually a grey color and some of the sloths in the wild will actually be covered with algae,
which may sound somewhat disgusting but it's used for camouflage to hide from bigger predators
that they might come across in the wild. They need to be disguised well because as you know, sloths
are pretty slow. Sloths are the slowest on the ground and in the trees. To your amazement, sloths are
excellent, fast swimmers. This is probably because they fall out of the trees, into the water, on a
daily basis. If you ever see a sloth in the wild you will most likely see the sloth upside down. If you
are getting a pet sloth you will want to purchase a larger kennel of some sort to house a sloth which
you can expect to get up to two feet tall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them are blue and white, some are yellow and green. They are very small, thus the name
parakeet. Parakeet means a small parrot. Budgies are referred to as parrots because they are small
and stay the same size. They are very docile parakeets which are not loud and they do not bite as
hard as your typical macaw or cockatoo would. These are possibly the easiest birds to care for and
maintain because they are so small. You can keep them in a small bird cage versus a cage you might
pay thousands of dollars for to keep a macaw in. They don't eat as much as the larger birds either.
You will need to purchase a small bird cage for the parakeet. They will do well in pairs as well.
They will need bird seed and a cuddle bone to chew on. They will also need some toys that they
cannot cut themselves on. Birds love mirrors with different objects that hang from them. Avoid
anything in the cage that will cut them such as metal toys. You will want to purchase a few perches
for the parakeet to sit on through out the day. You will need a water and food dish that clips to the
cage. Budgies live to be about five to ten years old depending on how healthy they are. Budgies love
companionship and love to exercise as well. You can bring your budgie outside of the cage to run
around on the floor but make sure that all of your pets are locked up or there could be a problem.

Pasadena Museum Of California Art Analysis
The Pasadena Museum of California Art has a beautiful exterior with an open–air staircase with
moody light play from an oculus above its entrance to a three–story facility. The walls all around it
are covered in complicated patterns and symbols. The building definitely stands out against all the
other buildings in the area. The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around.
The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different
colors. There is a parrot sitting atop a branch, and it seems to be looking down at a butterfly resting
on a branch below it. I picked this piece because of the many vibrant colors it had. There was a

It portrayed two different animals, in what seemed like a friendly situation, basically hanging out
with each other. The artist's view of the world with these piece of art work might be that he wants
world peace and everything to get along with each other just how the parrot and the butterfly are.
The artist wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only in
heaven. So this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like.
The second piece of art is called: "Wounds of Existence." This seems to be a painting on a unusually
rugged surface made out of un–sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a man and a
women with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this piece seem to
be mellow and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely unique it was,
being painted on wooden planks.
All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even though
the surface of this painting was very un–even, I could still see the shapes, colors and patterns. For
the canvas of the painting, it doesn't look like something you'd paint on. It appears that he just nailed
a bunch of wooden planks on top of each other and next to each other and painted on them. Parts of
this piece were probably painted with a brush, and maybe spray paint as

"Meine weissen ara haben safrangelbe kronen" is the eighth poem from Stefan George's Das Buch
der hängenden Gärten. It is followed by two of the collection's four poems with individual titles,
"Vorbereitungen" (Preparations) and "Friedensabend" (Peaceful Evening), and the fifteen poems in
the central section of the Buch that George's friend and muse Ida Coblenz called Semiramis–Lieder
and that were set to music by Arnold Schönberg.
In the poem, the speaker tells about his macaws that sleep in their cage. They never sing or fly, but
according to the speaker, they dream of the date trees that are far away. Waters (2005) calls this
"another image of royal and exotic birds that varies this recurring picture of a painful and
insuperable divide between art and life. [...] Rare, isolated from the world, crowned, and arranged
"in schlanken ringen," the parrots epitomize a realm of formal aesthetics [...] [D]ozing, they nod, as

Quaker Parrots Research Paper
Also known as monk parrots or grey–breasted parrots, Quaker parrots are native to South America
but have managed to make their home in some U.S. states and European countries, due to their
hardiness and ability to endure temperate climates. They measure about 12 inches from head to tail
and grow to about the same size as cockatiels. Quaker parrots are naturally green with grey chests,
throats and foreheads. They also sport some blue coloring on their primaries and tail feathers.
However, you may be able to find different colored quaker parrots that have been bred specifically
to give them a blue, white or other different color instead of green.
Quaker parrots are incredibly intelligent and you can very quickly teach them how to talk. With the
right training, you can even teach them to say things at appropriate times such as only saying "Good
morning" when its actually time–appropriate. Quaker parrots are noisy birds and although they
usually only communicate at a moderate volume, they will be whistling, chirping and talking all day
long – definitely not a pet for those who hate excessive noise. ... Show more content on

Parrots are beautiful intelligent birds. Mange is a festering disease caused by parasitic mites that dig

Parrot refer to? Is Mangy Parrot simply Periquillo's nickname or is it intended to be a metaphor for
New Spain? If the parrot is symbolic of the lands and people of New Spain: the colonial caste
system and government is the disease infesting the land. Unable to publish his views directly due to

(de Lizardi, pp. 111–113) De Lizardi is drawing attention to the inequities in the patronage system.
The rights are all on the Maestro's side. If a youth is apprenticed to a lazy or bad craftsman he may
not be schooled in the trade and he may even be treated as slave labor instead of a contracted
employee. De Lizardi goes on to point out that everyone is put at risk when the system
malfunctions, as in the poisoning of the patient. In these, as well as other examples in the book, the
author goads and motivates the readers to recall similar examples that have occurred to themselves,
family members or friends. The uncaring, unsympathetic manner in which Periquillo tells the stories
enhance and mimic the disregard the Spanish have for the plebian classes. This is intended to inspire
resentment in the plebian readers as they are reminded of the inequalities in the colonial systems.
Another flaw in the system de Lizardi exposes is the justice system. When Periquillo is imprisoned
for a crime he did not commit, he learns that although prisons are built to hold thieves and murders
many innocent people are sent intentionally sent there by the rich and powerful. Without any money
to hurry their cases along, the accused can rot in jail for many years without a trial. Additionally,
corrupt notaries hold undue sway over the justice system. (de Lizardi, p. 84 – 87) Later in the story,

Once there was a crow, who lived a happy and satisfied life in his village. One day the crow was
flying along when he saw a beautiful white swan. Seeing the swan he thought, "This swan is so

Persuasive Speech About Macaw

  • 1. Persuasive Speech About Macaw All MacawsAll Macaws is a family owned and operated Large Macaw breeding facility and specialty supply boutique, located in beautiful rural New Jersey. Our facility is completely closed to the public for the health and safety of our birds. Experts in the housing, care and feeding of these gorgeous birds, the owners Chris and Nick Petrosh, along with their wonderful daughter Stephanie Perri, breed some of the most beautiful, healthy and well socialized macaws on the market today. All of their babies are incubator hatched and lovingly handfed from day one. All Macaws is one of the few aviaries that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Blue and Gold would crack his own mixed in–shell nuts, but could not crack the macadamia nuts. The Blue and Gold would give the macadamias to Goliath and actually put the nut into the beak of this baby Hyacinth and wait for the him to crack the nut. Then the Blue and Gold would gently take the macadamia nut out of the mouth of the Hyacinth. Obviously those birds are good buddies!! Now, if you can trust your friend to crack your nuts for you, you are in good hands. I incubate hatch and handfeed from day one every 45 minutes around the clock with each one of my babies. With a schedule like that, with as many babies as we have, I naturally get very, very tired. But I love the macaws so much that I don't mind a bit. All birds are special, but the Large Macaws are very near and dear to my heart. When they are young, I carry them in baskets through the house with me. They all have their own toys and they get lots of play time. They watch tv and they have a particular fondness for children's shows due to the bright colors, intonation and music that usually accompany these programs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Ecological Niche Of The Kakapo Habitat: The kakapos are quite solitary. They normally live alone and have large ranges, travelling several kilometres in one night. The males range from 15–30 hectares, females 35–50 hectares (to find food for young). Because they are solitary birds by nature, when ranges overlap they make a noise called 'skraarking ' to keep a distance from each other. Kakapo used to be found through most of New Zealand, from lowland forests to mountain grasslands. They are now extinct on the mainland, the last survivors having been moved onto three offshore islands– Codfish, Maud and Little Barrier. The islands they live on today are all reserves with no predators except kiore (Polynesian rats). Ecological Niche: The herbivorous nature of the Kakapo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The graph adjacent demonstrates the drastic decline and the comparatively gradual controlled increase of this species. Kakapo formerly prospered throughout most of the North, South and Stewart Islands, New Zealand. Although it vanished from most of its initial range throughout human colonisation, the species persisted copious in Fiordland and some other higher–rainfall and more meagrely populated portions of South Island until the early twentieth century. By 1976, however, the recognized population had been condensed to 18 birds, all males, all in Fiordland. In 1977, a rapidly diminishing population of 150 birds was exposed on Stewart Island. Between 1980 and 1992, 61 remaining Stewart Island birds were relocated to offshore islands, and are currently situated on Codfish and Anchor Islands. The last acknowledged North Island record was in 1927. In 2009, a male which was one of four transferred from Stewart to Codfish in 1987 was rediscovered after having been missing for 21 years. As of November 2005, birds are still present on four islands: Codfish, Chalky, Anchor and Maud. In 1999, 26 females and 36 males endured, containing 50 individuals of breeding age, six sub adults and six infants. The population alleviated, and has started to gradually rise following the depiction of concentrated management. By 2005, the kakapo population stood at 86, of which 52 were breeding adults and 34 were infants; a prolific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. What Are Monk Parakeets Affect Birds? Monk parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus) are an introduced species and are native to South America in areas such as central Bolivia and central Argentina (Avery, 2006). These birds arrived to the United States in the 1960s due to accidental as well as purposeful introduction. These parakeets now thrive in places like New York, Connecticut, and Florida, to name a few (Johnson, 2009; Avery, 2012). Monk parakeet nests are built on natural and man–made areas. Some of these structures include radio towers and light poles. The nests are occupied year round. However, unlike parrots, parakeet's nests are built out of sticks rather than in found openings (Spreyer, 1998). Their nests are built in a way so that there are openings, called chambers, where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal for this project is to determine if the construction patterns between each nest are the same from one to the next. Since monk parakeets build nests in several different areas ranging from lamp posts to trees, this project will be done to see if the same species of trees are used for each nest. The determination of species will also establish the question of how these birds think when nests are built. Data gathered in a previous research project done at the Brooklyn College Biomimetic and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory concluded that monk parakeets use sticks found from a variety of trees to build nests (Lee, 2015). Studying sticks from a fallen nest and using a program called ARCGIS is a method of determining how far the birds had to go to obtain the sticks. ARCGIS is able to map out the species of trees in a general area. Measurements of the sticks such as diameter, length, and mass will be used to determine what species it belongs to. However, due to the large amount of sticks within a nest, only 5% of the sticks have been studied. ARCGIS will then be used to interpret how far the birds had to go to obtain the ... Crow For Dinner: Media Worker Dining At A Restaurant Crow for Dinner Description Henry Payne illustrated a media worker dining at a restaurant, where the special of the day is crow, in his cartoon "Media Crow" which was published to his website on November 13, 2016. The media worker on the left side of the cartoon is wearing a suit, tie, and top hat while he is sitting at a dinner table holding a fork and a knife. On the dinner table, there is a dead, black crow laying on its back on a plate. Next to the plate of crow there are salt and pepper shakers. Then, on the right side of the cartoon there is a menu that reads, "TODAY'S SPECIAL: CROW" (Payne). When all of the attributes of the drawing are put together, it is clear that Payne's cartoon depicts a representative of the media eating crow. ***** Analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Payne's cartoon implies the idea that the media is wrong, thus they have to eat crow. In the cartoon there is a media worker who seems to be seated at a restaurant table, and he has been served a plate of the daily special: crow. The term "eating crow" is used to describe a situation where someone guaranteed they were right, ended up being wrong, and then having to admit to being wrong afterwards. Considering the date this cartoon was published, it is safe to assume that Payne is referring to the media's incorrect predictions about the Presidential Election. Payne is poking fun at the media for ensuring its viewers that Hillary Clinton would win, when in reality Donald Trump would come out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Perches are very important for Congo African Grey parrots as they spend most of their time on them, when they are not flying. The perches should be of varying diameters, though for a primary perch, the Congo African Grey parrots feet should wrap about ¾ of the way around the perch. Perches set on opposite ends of the aviary or cage without obstacles in the way is a good idea as it allows for flight. The perches should be made of varying materials (such as branches from safe trees such as fruit trees, rope). The perches should be situated so that the parrot 's tail does not hit the bars. Perches should not be situated to allow access to the food and water dishes, but not over them, as this can cause hygiene issues. Congo African Grey parrots are social creatures, they need company of their same breed. To stop breeding same sex birds can be kept together, or it can be discouraged by not providing a nesting box. Veterinary advice should be sought if there is any help needed to stop the birds breeding. Along with company, the Congo African Grey parrot needs plenty of space to fly freely. Congo African Grey parrots are incredibly intelligent birds, they need plenty of stimulation in the form of interactive toys, puzzles, bells, and varied bird safe toys to keep them entertained. • 11. My Life In The Life Of Puerto Rico I sat on the floor between my dresser and the wall, clipping pictures from newspapers that had accumulated in a pile next to my dresser, in the corner. My mom wasn't too happy about my 'newspaper–hoarding', as she called it, and had told me that I could only keep travel and science sections of the most recent newspapers in my room. The rest went in the recycling. So I started fishing them out of the recycling bin. I would then search through them to see if there is anything I want to trim, trim it, then toss them back in the bin before my mom noticed. Anything that I wanted to keep to read I stashed in the pile behind my bed. I was sure to read them quickly, though, in case my mom found out about the pile. I paged through a section and saw ... Cathleen hopped off my bed, where she was reading the comics pages of a newspaper from my stash, while I begun to stand up, feeling stiff and numb from sitting on the floor for so long. We rushed out of our room and down the (admittedly very short) hallway to the kitchen table. I hoped lunch was something warm; maybe soup or chicken with rice. Rather, it was ham and cheese sandwiches with chopped carrots and ice water. "I'm cold," Cathleen whined. I nearly spit my food out. "Go put on a sweatshirt, or at least some socks, if you're so cold." I responded tartly. Well, I tried to sound tart, though I ended up sounding more exasperated than anything else. "No, you do it!" "Do what?" "Get me a sweatshirt!" "No, I won't. If you really want one, go get it yourself." "Well I won't." "Come on, Cathleen, just go get one! You're the one who's closer to our room anyway." It's true. She was closer, even if it was only by two or three feet. But then Cathleen jumped out of her chair and ran past me, in the opposite direction of our room, through the kitchen until she was standing against the front door, a smirk on her face. And then the door swung open. It was hilarious, watching Cathleen's eyes widen as she was knocked forward while swiveling her head to see who was opening the door. She was able to catch herself by her forearms right before she hit the floor, then started pulling herself up. "Oh my word! I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although most animals can communicate, either verbally on nonverbally, humans can do it with precision and efficiency unprecedented. The communication between bacteria, honeybees, and birds show that language makes us different. Bacteria communicate by secreting molecules to show its presence to others. This is similar to the part human communication of a greeting but also very different from human language in the way that there is real interaction. The bacteria are building up to attack but there is no real communication. Language would be an advantage in this situation in the reason that the bacteria ... Other animals do not have this anatomy meaning that they physically cannot speak. Chimpanzees for example have thinner tongues and a higher vocal box. Mr. Pontellier had the privilege of quitting their society when they ceased to be entertaining"(Chopin 1). The parrot and the mockingbird symbolize the novel 's women as they are caged. In contrast to Léonce Pontellier who has the freedom to move around. Kate Chopin utilizes the imagery of birds in order to express how women in this case Edna wish to fly over social traditions for an opportunity to be free from all restrictions. The narrator was not allowed to write, and do any sort of work she was required to rest. There are many symbols in "The Yellow Wallpaper" with the wallpaper itself being the most important and distinct from all the rest, however there are many more such as the moonlight, which represents a key motif in the story. The wallpaper first off in the narrator's room represents imprisonment and this is made clear when she says "Then I peeled off all the paper I could reach standing on the floor... I 've got out at last," said I, in spite of you and Jane? And I 've pulled off most of the paper, so you can 't put me back " (Gilman 9)! The narrator asks her husband repeatedly over the course of the story to remove the wallpaper as it gives her a sense of imprisonment, however he decides not to remove it and confines his wife to a room that she despises. Another important symbol in the story is moonlight. The moonlight in the story represents freedom not only for the woman in the wallpaper but for the narrator herself where she writes " That was clever, for really I wasn 't alone a bit! • 19. Why Do Ducks Quack Why do ducks quack By Frank Mathura There are two genders of ducks. They are male and female. There are also baby ducks, called ducklings. All of these different types of ducks quack for different reasons, and in different ways. The baby ducks, or ducklings, quack when they are in distress. If they are in danger, or they fear something, they will often quack. Their quack is a soft whistle. An example of a perilous situation in which a duckling would quack is when it is being hunted by one of its natural predators. Because ducks are delicious birds, many animals hunt and eat ducks, like foxes. If the mother duck is away, and the ducklings are in danger from a fox, the will call out in a whistle, and the mother will come to help, if she is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike most birds, ducks do not have a sequential molt. Instead, they have a simultaneous wing molt in early spring, or sometimes even in summer. They lose all of their primary feathers at once, and lose their ability to fly, at least until they grow the feathers back. This typically takes around twenty to forty days. The panic of losing hundreds, or maybe thousands of feathers at once causes the ducks to quack in fear. But some ducks sound very different when they quack. In fact, only a small minority of ducks quack in the traditional way. The only ducks that do are a small group of species in the genus Anas. For example, the American Black duck's quack sounds like a "Donald Duck" quack. Other species quacks sound like whistles, and cries, and a variety of other sounds. Another reason people believe all ducks quack the same, traditional way is the popular character, Donald Duck. He, and other cartoonish ducks played on TV are chosen because of ducks comic appearance. The quacks we associate with all ducks are chosen for their comedic value, not their factual accuracy. Because of popular characters like Donald Duck, many children grow up believe that all ducks quack just like their favorite TV cartoon character. But in reality, nothing could be further from the ... They have a similar diet,a different habitat, and some similarities in traits. Both Blue Jays and Robins travel in flocks, sometimes with each other. They have similar lengths too, but a Blue Jay can get a inch longer than a Robin. The Blue Jay mimics the calls of other animals, while a Robin has its own call. A Blue Jay is a melanian color with blue and red. Meanwhile a Robin has dark grey, black, dark red, and brown. Blue Jays are exceedingly well at learning new things, while Robins are not so well at learning new things. Blue Jays and Robins are omnivores. That means they eat both plants and animals. They both like to eat caterpillars and fruits. Blue Jays like to eat smaller birds, while Robins like to keep it simple. • 23. feminaw Feminist Reading of Kate Chopin's The Awakening... A Feminist Reading of The Awakening The Awakening is not new to me. However, in the class when I read it before the instructor refused to entertain a feminist criticism. The theory presented was that Edna knew what kind of man she was marrying and all these things she went through: her friendship with Madame Reisz leaving the house, entertaining her friends at the party, her situation with Robert and Arobin were all selfish efforts toward the ultimate freedom which is death. I feel Chopin faults Leonce as much as Edna for Edna's problems. He is a cold fish. He is controlling and he puts on a show for friends and neighbors "proving" he is a model husband which he is not. She feels the same old ennui, and the party shortly thereafter breaks up. Of course, all this meets with Leonce disapproval. His concern is not about his wife's mental or emotional health, but rather, what people will say. To experience freedom of the soul Edna has no choice but to return to the sea. It is the only thing capable of giving her the emotional security and sensual satisfaction at the same time. She goes to it and allows it to claim her. Like many of Chopin's stories, The Awakening ends in a death. Chopin apparently sees death as the ultimate freedom. No matter what we do as women in this world we are always restricted in our movements by some facet of our lives. While Chopin tries to speak for women, I think this premise that our lives are restricted also applies to men. There may not be as many restrictions but they are there. I believe that animals are intelligent. Animals use their intelligence to find food, a mate, and a home. I believe this because in the passage "Animal Snoops" it tells about a parrot named Marshmallow eavesdropping on some robbers. When listening to the robbers, he learned one of the robbers nicknames "JJ". When the robbers went to leave the bird shouted "JJ". The robbers left but then came back to nab the bird. Behavioral Problems? After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less frequently than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and Cockatiels. These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive behavior. Macaws, even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of "bigness", result of their genetic traits, and can sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other species like cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during the mating season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring–soon to be hatched. Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to smaller spaces and can injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... This loud squawking or screeching however can be trained out of the parrot with human speech training which most owners opt to do. • 33. The Awakening By Kate Chopin Birds are the main theme in the novel The Awakening. Many people when they read the first statement, should be perplexed and try to grasp the concept of how birds can be the main theme of The Awakening. However, throughout the novel, we see many examples of birds appearing in the text. Many great authors use the power of symbolism to establish a connection between an object that seems ordinary to a human counterpart whose actions and intentions are masked by the way the actions are executed. In The Awakening, Kate Chopin uses birds to represent the different parts of Edna's life and how they relate to her throughout the text. The first example of the representation of Edna is seen at the start of the book with the parrot. 'A green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door, kept repeating over and over: "Allez vous–en! Allez vous–en! Sapristi! That's all right!" He could speak a little Spanish, and also a language which nobody understood, unless it was the mockingbird that hung on the other side of the door..."(Chopin 1 ) This bird represents Edna. Not only is this bird caged and trapped in its environment, but it is also exclaiming and crying for help. This cry can only be heard by the mockingbird that sits across the room. The mockingbird represents Edna 's true and close friends that understand the predicament she is in. Edna is able to internally cry to herself and live out her life as she is expected to. Why A Parrot Owner Or Just Preparing For Bring One Home Whether you are an experienced parrot owner or just preparing to bring one home, there are many important factors that must be considered. Owning a parrot is an incredible commitment. It requires 24 hour responsibility and an awareness of factors that most people never give a second thought to. Some of these factors can mean life or death to a parrot. We still do not know very much about how our day to day living affects our feathered companions, so it 's important to remain up to date and continue your research every day. Parrots have a very sensitive respiratory system. They have a set of lungs as well as air sacs that are distributed throughout the body. This makes their breathing extremely efficient and incredibly sensitive to chemicals and fumes. Scented candles, plug–in home deodorizers, hair products and perfumes, cigarettes, etc. can cause great harm and even death when used in the same room as a parrot. If it smells strongly to you, it could be harming your parrot. On the other side of that, there are many products that we cannot smell that can be just as harmful. PTFE/non–stick coated cookware, space heaters, self–cleaning ovens, etc. have the potential to off– gas and release very harmful fumes that can kill parrots in a matter of seconds. Many products are being manufactured with non–stick parts that are not listed in their manuals/warning paperwork. This is where doing your research is imperative. One of the most important of these symbols, the bird, appears constantly, interwoven in the story to provide an insight to the condition of Edna's and her struggle. At each of the three stages of her struggle, birds foreshadow her actions and emphasize the actions' importance while the birds' physical state provides an accurate measure of that of Edna's. In a situation parallel to that of Edna's, the only bird that understands the parrot is the mockingbird (Reisz) that "[is] whistling its fluty notes upon the breeze with maddening persistence" (1). Because the parrot continues to shriek, people move it away from their society: "[Mr. Farvial] insisted upon having the bird removed and consigned to regions of darkness" (23). Society wants to hide the bird in darkness, as it wants to do to Edna, in order to keep the bird from causing problems. The bird, like Edna, is the only one "who possessed sufficient candor" to tell the truth about society (23). Throughout Edna's imprisonment, birds reflect her actions and feelings. Once Edna begins to escape, however, the birds become important signs of her success in escaping and continue to foreshadow her actions. Upon hearing Mademoiselle Reisz play "Solitude", Edna envisions a free bird for the first time. She imagines "a man standing beside a desolate rock...with hopeless resignation as he looked toward a distant bird winging its flight away from him" (25). The inside is very roomy, and filled with lots of artwork all around. The first piece of artwork is by William S. Rice. This piece is a painting, with many, many different colors. There is a parrot sitting atop a branch, and it seems to be looking down at a butterfly resting on a branch below it. I picked this piece because of the many vibrant colors it had. There was a parrot on a branch, and it seemed to be staring down ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It portrayed two different animals, in what seemed like a friendly situation, basically hanging out with each other. The artist's view of the world with these piece of art work might be that he wants world peace and everything to get along with each other just how the parrot and the butterfly are. The artist wants world peace basically, but us Christians should know that that is impossible, only in heaven. So this painting may just show what the artist wishes the world could be like. The second piece of art is called: "Wounds of Existence." This seems to be a painting on a unusually rugged surface made out of un–sanded wooden planks. It depicts what seems like, a man and a women with their faces close to each other with sad faces. The subject matter of this piece seem to be mellow and sad. I picked this piece because it jumped out at me at how absolutely unique it was, being painted on wooden planks. All the colors in this piece are more dark, and no color really stand out above the rest. Even though the surface of this painting was very un–even, I could still see the shapes, colors and patterns. For the canvas of the painting, it doesn't look like something you'd paint on. It appears that he just nailed a bunch of wooden planks on top of each other and next to each other and painted on them. Parts of this piece were probably painted with a brush, and maybe spray paint as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Eight Poem From Stefan George's Das Buch Der Safrangenden... "Meine weissen ara haben safrangelbe kronen" is the eighth poem from Stefan George's Das Buch der hängenden Gärten. It is followed by two of the collection's four poems with individual titles, "Vorbereitungen" (Preparations) and "Friedensabend" (Peaceful Evening), and the fifteen poems in the central section of the Buch that George's friend and muse Ida Coblenz called Semiramis–Lieder and that were set to music by Arnold Schönberg. In the poem, the speaker tells about his macaws that sleep in their cage. They never sing or fly, but according to the speaker, they dream of the date trees that are far away. Waters (2005) calls this "another image of royal and exotic birds that varies this recurring picture of a painful and insuperable divide between art and life. [...] Rare, isolated from the world, crowned, and arranged "in schlanken ringen," the parrots epitomize a realm of formal aesthetics [...] [D]ozing, they nod, as if assenting to their confinement for beauty's sake." ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shape points at the two middle verses, which emphasise the macaws' passivity. Enjambments connect the second to fourth and the seventh and eighth verses. Hence, the flow stops in the middle of the poem, especially in the fourth verse which is interrupted by a caesura. Both the fourth and fifth verse are not only end–stopped but also stressed on the last syllable and thus further highlighted. The rhyme scheme of two rhyming couplets enclosing an enclosed rhyme (aabccbdd) points again towards the middle of the poem in addition to mirroring the birds' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A comic sort of figure group and an ideal companion piece to Harry Parr's exhibit in the same show. The Vyse figure is called The Macaw but the brilliantly coloured bird is only one of a group of three, an impudent, chubby, little brown–haired girl carrying on her right shoulder a bunch of purple grapes at which the macaw is pecking, while with her left hand she fondles a green–eyed cheetah. The group is on a green and flowered mound. Harry Parr's statuette is of a cupid, clutching a fashionably dressed couple under each arm with malicious joy.20 The magazine was mistaken when stating that it was ... • 63. Quaker Parrots Research Paper Also known as monk parrots or grey–breasted parrots, Quaker parrots are native to South America but have managed to make their home in some U.S. states and European countries, due to their hardiness and ability to endure temperate climates. They measure about 12 inches from head to tail and grow to about the same size as cockatiels. Quaker parrots are naturally green with grey chests, throats and foreheads. They also sport some blue coloring on their primaries and tail feathers. However, you may be able to find different colored quaker parrots that have been bred specifically to give them a blue, white or other different color instead of green. Quaker parrots are incredibly intelligent and you can very quickly teach them how to talk. With the right training, you can even teach them to say things at appropriate times such as only saying "Good morning" when its actually time–appropriate. Quaker parrots are noisy birds and although they usually only communicate at a moderate volume, they will be whistling, chirping and talking all day long – definitely not a pet for those who hate excessive noise. ... • 67. Mangy Parrot Parrots are beautiful intelligent birds. Mange is a festering disease caused by parasitic mites that dig into the body and results in unsightly sores and unremitting irritation. Who or what does The Mangy Parrot refer to? Is Mangy Parrot simply Periquillo's nickname or is it intended to be a metaphor for New Spain? If the parrot is symbolic of the lands and people of New Spain: the colonial caste system and government is the disease infesting the land. Unable to publish his views directly due to censorship, de Lizardi wrote his apparently humorous, entertaining tale as a cover for his ideas. Throughout the story Fernández de Lizardi cleverly interweaves his true objective which is to increase opposition to the colonial societal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (de Lizardi, pp. 111–113) De Lizardi is drawing attention to the inequities in the patronage system. The rights are all on the Maestro's side. If a youth is apprenticed to a lazy or bad craftsman he may not be schooled in the trade and he may even be treated as slave labor instead of a contracted employee. De Lizardi goes on to point out that everyone is put at risk when the system malfunctions, as in the poisoning of the patient. In these, as well as other examples in the book, the author goads and motivates the readers to recall similar examples that have occurred to themselves, family members or friends. The uncaring, unsympathetic manner in which Periquillo tells the stories enhance and mimic the disregard the Spanish have for the plebian classes. This is intended to inspire resentment in the plebian readers as they are reminded of the inequalities in the colonial systems. Another flaw in the system de Lizardi exposes is the justice system. When Periquillo is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, he learns that although prisons are built to hold thieves and murders many innocent people are sent intentionally sent there by the rich and powerful. Without any money to hurry their cases along, the accused can rot in jail for many years without a trial. Additionally, corrupt notaries hold undue sway over the justice system.
