Living, Loving and Learning English with the Family amid Uncertainties
Participation
1. Kenzie McLean
I believe that I participate in class well. I can use the target language to ask for
things I need and I use Spanish to ask for permission to go to the bathroom and to get
water. I can use Spanish to hold basic conversations with other classmates, and I do
make an effort to communicate in Spanish, despite my failure at learning Spanish as a
whole. I support Matt, Nolan, and Zach when they speak, as well as other. I also
demonstrate good work habits. I always have supplies for class, I arrive on time, I only
use my computer when needed and my phone and iPod stay in my pocket during class.
I have my homework done and I don’t sleep through class. I also listen to directions the
first time, and I pay attention when others are speaking. My downfall is that I love to talk,
which can be distracting to others in the class. Overall I think that I participate quite well,
and deserve a good participation grade.
The first month of Spanish was rather hard because I feel that my former
Spanish teacher didn’t really teach us. We only got through 5 chapters in the book, and
we were supposed to get through 12. I had little knowledge of the language coming into
this class, and I’ve been working overtime to catch up. It doesn’t help that Spanish is
exceptionally hard for me to learn compared to other languages, and I want to keep
saying things in German, because I am much better at it than Spanish.
