Each student has a
chance to practice
speaking English.
They are shown
pictures and have
to guess what the
items are made of.
To reinforce the
vocabulary they
play a game of
“This is made of
…..”
Discussion of
various ways of
recycling follows.
• The students sing the project song
‘This is Our World’ lesson
The song inspires a lesson on how long
it takes for certain materials to
decompose. We all guess the answer.
The students say “It takes……(the length
of time in weeks, months or years)..to
decompose.
Italian culture – home made food

Monday morning at
school in Frossaco
Observing Silvana’s lesson. She
taught a song .. The children told
her which words they knew - then
they played a game and made a
tree with their bodies to learn the
new words in the song. So much
fun!
In Cantalupa nursery school I introduced
Finland’s natural resource – water - home of
many fish
Each child made a fish from
recycled materials
(newspapers, foil)
We had a big shoal of fish
Outdoor play - Composting
The children put old fruit and
vegetables into the compost
box. They see a worm Having a pet worm is a
thoughtful responsibility.
Children relaxing and enjoying the sunny
weather - it is time for me to leave
CANTALUPA – end of visit picture
The staff shared a
lot about their
work.
The children were
wonderful to work
with.
I liked their
environment and
how they
implement CLIL
ideas in a day care
setting.

Teacher Visit - Finland to Italy - May 2014

  • 1. Finland to Italy (Roletto, Frossasco and Cantalupa eCLIL4you teacher exchange mobility 1.05 – 5.05 2014 By Barbara Stacey
  • 2. Roletto school The students sorted our trash for recycling – working in small groups
  • 3. Recycling – CLIL lesson Each student has a chance to practice speaking English. They are shown pictures and have to guess what the items are made of. To reinforce the vocabulary they play a game of “This is made of …..” Discussion of various ways of recycling follows.
  • 4. • The students sing the project song
  • 5. ‘This is Our World’ lesson The song inspires a lesson on how long it takes for certain materials to decompose. We all guess the answer. The students say “It takes……(the length of time in weeks, months or years)..to decompose.
  • 6. Italian culture – home made food
  • 7. Sightseeing in Torino • With an Italian family as my tourist guide

  • 9. Monday morning at school in Frossaco Observing Silvana’s lesson. She taught a song .. The children told her which words they knew - then they played a game and made a tree with their bodies to learn the new words in the song. So much fun!
  • 10. In Cantalupa nursery school I introduced Finland’s natural resource – water - home of many fish Each child made a fish from recycled materials (newspapers, foil) We had a big shoal of fish
  • 11. Outdoor play - Composting The children put old fruit and vegetables into the compost box. They see a worm Having a pet worm is a thoughtful responsibility.
  • 12. Children relaxing and enjoying the sunny weather - it is time for me to leave
  • 13. CANTALUPA – end of visit picture The staff shared a lot about their work. The children were wonderful to work with. I liked their environment and how they implement CLIL ideas in a day care setting. Thank you for the lovely time.
