Mental Attitude: Brain Differences May Explain Hallucinations Among Schizophrenics. Brain structure differences may be to
blame for the increased risk of hallucinations in people with schizophrenia. An analysis of brain scans of schizophrenia patients and
people without mental illness revealed the part of the brain called the paracingulate sulcus (PCS) was shorter among those with the
disease. The researchers report just a one centimeter reduction in the length of the PCS has been associated with a nearly 20%
increased risk of hallucination. It's believed the PCS helps us recognize information we have generated ourselves, and individuals with
a shorter PCS appear less able to distinguish the origin of such information. Nature Communications, November 2015
Health Alert: STD Rates Rising for First Time in Years. For the first time in nearly a decade, three key sexually transmitted
diseases are on the rise. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there were 1.4 million cases of Chlamydia
reported in 2014, which represented a 2.8% increase over 2013. Syphilis and gonorrhea also saw substantial increases of 15% and 5%
respectively during the same period. While these STDs are preventable and treatable, diminished access to clinics has most likely
contributed to the increased epidemic in recent years. Fred Wyand, a spokesman for the American Sexual Health Association adds that
given that the annual cost of STDs is $16 billion, policy makers should be informed that prevention programs are not only sound

Diet: Link Found Between Breakfast Quality & Academic Outcomes. A study involving 5,000 kids has found significant
associations between breakfast consumption and production in the classroom. The research revealed that the likelihood of achieving
above-average educational performance was up to twice as high for students who ate breakfast than those who did not. Furthermore,
the researchers found the quality of breakfast was important, as eating unhealthy foods for breakfast had no positive impact on
academic achievement. Lead author Dr. Hannah Littlecott says the study "offers the strongest evidence yet of links between aspects of
what pupils eat and how well they do at school, which has significant implications for education and public health policy."

Exercise: Can Benefit Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease. Despite evidence that regular physical activity is essential for the
treatment and prevention of most chronic diseases, exercise is not commonly prescribed for patients with chronic kidney disease
(CKD). A review of 59 previously published studies found aerobic exercise not only improves quality of life for patients on dialysis

Chiropractic: Chronic Neck Pain Patients Have Increase Insomnia Risk! Among a sample of 218 chronic neck pain patients,
53.7% reported mild-to-severe insomnia that developed after they started to experience neck pain. The researchers found high pain
intensity, co-morbid pain in other body locations, and high levels of depression are the greatest predictors of whether or not a patient
with chronic neck pain will develop insomnia. Pain Physician, November 2015
Wellness/Prevention: Sleep Habits May Affect Your Health. Sleeping late on your off days may increase your risk for diabetes and
heart disease, according to a study involving 447 men and women. In the study, researchers found 85% of participants slept longer on
their days off from work. Further investigation found that participants with greater differences in their sleep schedules on workdays
and non-workdays tended to have worse cholesterol and fasting insulin levels, greater insulin resistance, larger waist size, and higher
body mass index. Author Dr. Patricia Wong writes, "There could be benefits to clinical interventions focused on circadian
disturbances, workplace education to help employees and their families make informed decisions about structuring their schedules,
