The Inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci Everyone knows Leonardo Da Vinci for his Last Supper
Painting and the Mona Lisa. Not only was Da Vinci a painter he was also an inventor. He had a
fascination for planes and other unique things. He made the designs for things like guns and planes
that we use for our military and did not even know he was the first with the ideas of these inventions
. He made designs for four flying machines such as the anemometer and the parachute. He made
designs for four war machines such has the crossbow and armed car. He made designs for five
innovations such the clock and the colossus. And last but not least, he designed two water machines
such as the scuba gear.

The influence of the Italian Renaissance affected northern Europe at the beginning of the Fifteenth
Century, called the Northern Renaissance. This renewal of cultural activity was marked by an acute
interest in human beings and by the use of natural detail in paintings. An interest in ancient art and a
knowledge of linear perspective did not develop in the north until the Sixteenth Century; and even
then, not all artists used the discoveries that were made in Italy.
Another statement from James Snyder is that one of the most important of Fifteenth Century

The life and work of the great Italian Renaissance artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci has proved
endlessly fascinating for later generations. What most impresses people today, is the extent of his
achievements. However, in the past. he was admired chiefly for his art and art theory. "Leonardo's
equally impressive contribution to science is a modern rediscovery, having been preserved in a vast
quantity of notes that became widely known only in the 20th century. "
He was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano Italy. He died on May 2, 1519 in Clos Lucé, Amboise,
France. He was a painter, architect, inventor, and student of all things scientific. Young Leonardo
received little formal education beyond basic reading, writing and mathematics instruction, but his
artistic talents were obvious from an early age. He trained in Florence as a painter and sculptor in
the workshop of Andrea del Verrocchio. Leonardo is also celebrated for his scientific contributions.
He was constantly observing, experimenting, and inventing. He left almost 2,500 drawings that
record his ideas. He was active in Florence and Milan, but spent the last years of his life in Rome
and France, where he died.
Leonardo created the famous portrait of Mona Lisa, supposedly wife of Francesco del Giocondo. It
has an aura of mystery surrounding it. It is concealed in a faint light, creating an atmosphere of
enchantment and fascination. There are no hard lines or contours to be found on this amazing
portrait. The thing that strikes viewers eyes the most is the puzzling half smile. "The best known, the

Around 1495, da Vinci painted "The Last Supper" on the back wall of the dining hall inside the

complete, captures the drama of the moment when Jesus informs the Twelve Apostles gathered for
Passover dinner that one of them would soon betray him. The range of facial expressions and the
body language of the figures around the table bring the masterful composition to life.

Some of the greatest artists of the time were at work in Rome for the church. In May 1506 Charles
d'Amboise, governor of Milan for the king of France, invited Leonardo to return to that city. His
work in painting and sculpture over the next seven years remained mostly in the planning stage––in
sketches that he drew but that never became paintings or statues––but his scientific work flourished.
He continued his notebooks with observations and drawings of human anatomy, optics, mechanics,
