U.s. President Bill Clinton
(look up,smile and wave) Thank you, General Secretary Chairman Phu Trong and Chairwomen Kim
Ngan, thank you for your warm welcome.
(proudly) Such a pleasurable coincidence that in the year 2000, former US–president Bill Clinton,
the first to ever address to this great nation was also here at Hanoi National University. I am more
than honored to have the same invitation.
(more serious) Today marks the 21st year since the formal normalization of the diplomatic
relationship between our two countries. Today, also marks the beginning of growth our two
countries will embrace. Speaking for the people of my country and myself, I have never been more
grateful, for this to have happened. I am proud to be here, today.
Vietnam in the views of many Western nations, is a country that is growing both economically and
socially, so fast that today, it has best United States in so many areas. It has attracted world–class
investors and entrepreneurs, benefiting the economic development of the country. Socially, just only
last year, the total number of international arrivals in 12 months reached by 8 million, whilst just the
past 6 months, it has received and warmly welcomed more than 7 million visitors came from
everywhere in the world. Vietnam is ranked as the 33rd country in the world to spend a large percent
of its expenditures on education. A major factor for any country to improve socially, economically
and to secure a better future for the young.

Bill Clinton, A Good President?
Bill Clinton a good president? As we see throughout history many people ignorant to many
accomplishments presidents have, and only remember them for their assassinations or their scandals.
Bill Clinton to many people is viewed as bad president over his scandalous affair with Monica
Lewinsky. However Clinton was deeply involved in his Baptist Church, and once said ""Religious
faith has permitted me to believe in the continuing possibility of becoming a better person every
day, to believe in the search for complete integrity in life." Although Clinton had an affair, that didn't
affect his ability to govern the United States. Many people overlook the several accomplishments
that he did for the United States of America because of that simple mistake that he had in his
marriage. One of the several things Bill Clinton did was he reduced the crime rate. The crime rate
fell every year that Clinton was president and was at a 26–year low by the end of his two terms. He
also got funding to employ 100,000 nationwide. One very important thing that he bills that he signed
was the Brady Bill was required a waiting period and a background check to purchase handguns,
and in 1994 his Crime Bill included a ban on assault weapons which lead to a 40 percent decline in
gun crime by 2001. Clinton was a strong supporter of modernizing the US military, which led to
increased technology and efficiency. His administration focused on precision weapons and GPS
technology, to reduce collateral

Compare and Contrast the Presidential Management Style...
This purpose of this paper is to compare and contrast the presidential styles of management between
President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President William Clinton. Particular emphasis will be on
domestic and foreign policy, and effectiveness of their presidential administration. Franklin D.
Roosevelt was elected four times as President of the United States of American between 1933
through 1945. William Clinton was elected twice as President of the United States of American
between 1993 through 2001. Both Presidents share many similar standpoints on foreign policy
because of international conflict that took place during their administration. President Roosevelt

"Presidents may be active or passive in terms of the effort invested in their jobs; they also may be
positive or negative about their positions (Maltese, 164). In regards with President Bill Clinton and
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, James Barber identifies them as an "Active–positive". Active–
positives display personal growth and stability, which they take pleasure in their job and the
challenges they face with power productivity to pursue their objectives. Also, they pragmatic
political figures that possess flexibility in their pursuit of achieving their goals and are willing to
alter or abolishing their goals rather than experience severe consequences (Maltese, 164). President
Franklin D. Roosevelt and President William Clinton had similar and contrasting viewpoints on
domestic policy. Both presidents took office which there was an economic struggle and
unemployment was low. Also, the unemployment rate was declining, business's were going bankrupt
and an international crisis they had to deal with to maintain free trade. President Roosevelt had the
more severe circumstances with the Great Depression that occurred because of the Stock Market
crash in 1929, and fighting a two front in World War II. When President Roosevelt took office, the
unemployment rate was 25 %, which is historically the worst depression in history.

President Bill Clinton Essay
On August 19, 1946, William Jefferson Blythe IV was born in the small town of Hope, Arkansas.
William never had the opportunity to meet his father who was a traveling salesman. William's
mother was still mourning the loss of her beloved husband who died only three months earlier in a
tragic car accident. "As a small child, Bill lived with his mother, Virginia Cassidy Blythe, and her
parents in Hope, Arkansas" (Maraniss, 1995). When Bill was a year old, his mother moved to New
Orleans, Louisiana, to study nursing. While his mother was away, Bill was being raised by his
grandparents. Four years later, in hopes of a better life, Virginia remarried to Roger Clinton. Roger

After graduating from Oxford University, Clinton attended Yale University where he studied Law.
While there, Clinton kept his concentration in government by campaigning for Senator Candidates
in Connecticut. While at Yale, Clinton also met Hillary Rodham, whom he would later marry on
October 11, 1975. When Clinton graduated from Yale University in 1973, he returned to Arkansas to
teach at the University of Arkansas Law School. In 1974, while teaching his first year at the
University of Arkansas, Clinton decided it was time to enter his first political race. His target was
winning a seat in the United States House of Representatives. It was not going to be easy to win the
campaign because the current incumbent, John Paul Hammerschmidt, was extremely popular and
considered unbeatable. Nevertheless, Clinton defeated three Democratic candidates to become the
parties' official nominee to run against Hammerschmidt. Clinton ran an energetic campaign but was
still defeated. Hammerschmidt won the race by getting 52 percent of the votes. Clinton was
devastated after being defeated in 1974 for Congress Campaign for Arkansas' 3rd district. However,
the power of his devastation was no match for Clinton's determination. Three years after his defeat
to Hammerschmidt, Clinton decided to run for Governor of Arkansas when Governor David Pryor
decided to run for a spot in the U.S. Senate. When all was said and done, Clinton

Bill Clinton : The President Of The United States
Bill Clinton was the 42nd president of the United States. Elected in 1992 and sworn into office on
January 20, 1993 Clinton lived a lively presidential life and broke many records as president.
Clinton was the third youngest president ever elected and won his first ever presidential campaign.
Clinton was slick and extremely well spoken. The man had a way with people that had never been
seen before. Clinton gained his nickname as "The comeback kid" once he won the election even
after being in dead last in the beginning of his campaign and the primaries. Clinton is a well known
name and he achieved a lot during his presidency, and it all started in a small town in Arkansas.
William Jefferson Clinton was not born with the last name Clinton. William was given the name
William Jefferson Blythe III at his birth. Three months before Clinton's birth his father, William
Jefferson Blythe Jr. was killed in a car accident. Clinton's mother Virginia left William to live with
her parents after his birth so she could complete nursing school. Clinton 's grandparents both had
very strong personalities, during a time of segregation Clinton's grandmother, who owned a grocery
store, opened her doors to people of all ethnicities and sold items on credit to anyone. After Virginia
completed nursing school she returned home to Hope, a small town in Arkansas where her parents
lived and where Bill was born on August 19, 1946. In 1950 Bill's mother married a man named

Impeachment of Bill Clinton Essay
President Bill Clinton began an affair with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern, in 1995. Later
in 1998, when confronted with questions in regards to an affair with Monica Lewinsky, Clinton lied
under oath in front of a grand jury. This, however, was not his first lapse in judgment as viewed by
the Senate and Congress. The President and his wife, Hillary, found themselves involved in the
Whitewater scandal beginning in 1978. In addition, during his campaign, Clinton was accused of
draft dodging and rumors were spread in regards to his possible marriage infidelity. President Bill
Clinton continued to find himself caught in the middle of scandals involving: Whitewater, Paula

Following the hearings on Whitewater, Monica S. Lewinsky began working as an unpaid intern in
the White House chief of staff's office. In August of 1995, Monica attended a surprise birthday
gathering for the President on the South Lawn. While there, the President shook her hand as she
wished him a happy birthday. Monica would later describe this encounter to the Office of
Independent Council, in the presence of a grand jury, as the beginning of a "flirtation that went on at
a distance." (Gormley 235). On November 13, 1995, Monica received a promotion to a paid position
in the Office of Legislative Affairs located in the East Wing. Two days later, Republican House
Speaker Newt Gingrich issued a government shutdown. Monica reported to work during the
shutdown and at one point during the day, Monica and the President's paths crossed. Monica passed
by the door to the inner office of the West Wing and saw Clinton standing by himself. Lewinsky
then lifted her jacket to show Clinton the straps of her underwear. Clinton invited her into his private
study where they kissed for the first time. Monica Lewinsky testified: "We talked briefly and sort of
acknowledged there had been a chemistry that was there before and that we were both attracted to
each other and then he asked me if he could kiss me" (The History Place). Later that evening, they

Donald Trump's Argument Against President Bill Clinton
I really did not feel compelled to write this piece, but as days passed after the election I felt like
Americans needed little light shed on the situation. Tuesday night was a very nail bitter situation as
millions of Americans were anxiously waiting for results, but in the wee hours of the mornings as
you already know Donald Trump was declared our President. Whether you support him or not, it
happened and all we can do is move forward. It is understandable to be a little frustrated at first if
your candidate lost, but what I saw on social media was complete HATRED from both parties. My
heart began to ache after just a few seconds of reading several posts that were filled with the same
wretched lies. Hillary supporters calling every republican racist and sexist, but then republicans
calling democrats upset because we can't be baby killers anymore and getting our food stamps taken
away.
My biggest problem is the defamation with these posts. If you ... Show more content on

surely will only provide you with what he knows is best. Trump is only a stepping stone to making a
difference in this world and I truly believe he can be exactly what America needed because God
overpowers all and will shine through every dark day. Trump can surely not do it alone as I quoted
Hillary earlier he needs the backing of America, to put aside our differences and unite together not
let the cracks get worse in this time of turmoil. God wants the world to be filled with an Agape love
and I believe we can get there if people stop attacking each other on Facebook, but giving their fears
and hopes over to God. My dream is that eventually when God takes over the lives of many there
will just be a different aroma in the air, people will be less concerned about themselves and more

War Room Is A Film About Bill Clinton, Former President Of...
War Room is a film about Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, and how his devoted
staff led to his success in the election. The film stars James Carville and George Stephanopolous,
both were nobodies at the time of filming but are now household names. Don Alan Pennebaker and
Chris Hegedus made this masterpiece in a short filming period of 15 days. Though this movie is a
remarkable journey through the lives of those contributing to Clinton's campaign, the making of the
film has no lack of issues that occurred both on and off set. The "The War Room' garnered numerous
honors including an Academy Award nomination" (New Challenges for Documentary, 327). This
paper is going to explain how the film nearly did not receive such awards by discussing the history
of the two filmakers, Pennebaker and Hegedus, and also the problems that occurred on and off set
and how they were resolved.
The history between the masterminds Pennebaker and Hegedus began in 1965 after Hegedus moved
to New York City with hopes of focusing on politically oriented documentary work. Pennebaker was
always devoted to his filmmaking, so devoted in fact that article writer George C. Stoney stated "it's
a lot of fun watching cinema verite pioneer Pennebaker catch such moments of crisis as an argument
over the color of campaign signs" (Cineaste, 57). The two then began working together on a project
properly titled "Town Bloody Hall" that was mainly compiled of personal footage shot by

Bill Clinton Leadership Analysis Essay
Leadership Analysis Review
For this Leadership Analysis, I chose former President Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was born in Hope,
AR on August 19, 1946. At an early age Bill had an experience that changed his life on July 24,
1963, a young Bill Clinton met President John F. Kennedy while attending Boys Nation. This
meeting inspired the future president to pursue a life in public service.
Bill Clinton was a President that did not allow anyone to tell him something could not be done. If
this President found that something could not be completed, he would go as far as possible and then
start on the next agenda on the list. He was a well–organized President with people in his cabinet
that admired this ability. President Bill Clinton changed the entire ambiance of the country with his
command of emotional intelligence. When the country was torn on issues, he would find a way to
bring people together and solve the problem, or at least reach a successful consensus. Personal
problems riddled the Clinton presidency, but this did not stop the forward successes claimed by this
giant of a man. Unemployment was a sore subject, but under President Clinton's direction the
economy grew and women and minorities finally began to be placed in high positions in the federal
government. The private sector grew and added a high number of jobs in the economy
Bill Clinton has displayed all five areas of self–awareness. His Emotional Intelligence includes his

Bill Clinton : The Second President

02 February 2015 William (Bill) Clinton was only the second president in history to be impeached
by the House of Representatives in 1998, but he was acquitted by the Senate the following year
("Bill Clinton."). President Clinton was impeached for perjury and for obstruction of justice;
however, he was acquitted of both charges just two months later because of "lack of merit." Even
after being acquitted from his impeachment, Bill Clinton realized he'd made a mistake, as most
humans do, and resigned his presidency and formally apologized to his family and to the rest of the
United States for his actions. Despite this scandalous event, it is my opinion that President Bill
Clinton should not be judged on this one scandal, but by the many great things he's done for this
country. In order to better understand Bill Clinton and to get a better view on what may have led him
down his path to infamy, it's important to take a look into his childhood. Bill Clinton was born on
August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas under the name William Jefferson Blythe after his biological
father. President Clinton's father died just months before he was born. In order to provide for her
new baby, his mother left him with his grandparents for two years to go to nursing school. His
grandparents were very strict disciplinarians and all about education; they had Clinton reading
books at the age of three. Upon his mother's return in 1950, she married a man by the name of

Life History of Bill Clinton Essay
Bill Clinton William Jefferson Clinton succeeded where no other Democrat since Franklin had. He
was re–elected to a second term as President. Clinton also proved most of his critics wrong,
surviving the personal scandals that came about. During his presidency, Clinton broke promises and
failed in certain areas, but he still had support of the American people. Even after his affair with
Monica Lewinsky, the people still wanted him in office. They liked what he was doing for the
country and supported him no matter what. Bill Clinton was an important president in American
history, even through his personal scandals and broken promises.

The plan was approved by the legislature. In the 1980's, the rate at which new jobs were created in
Arkansas was among the highest in the nation. The jobs were there, but most of them didn't pay high
wages and the average family income still remained low (American President 3).
During the 1992 presidential campaign, Clinton promised to reform the health–care system, enact a
tax cut for the middle class, reduce the federal budget deficit, and make major investments in the
nation's highways, bridges, and hospitals to name a few (Dumas 4). The health–care reform was the
most ambitious item on Clinton's campaign platform. He promised to fix the two major problems of
American health care: rising costs and the widespread lack of coverage. A large number of
Americans had neither private health insurance nor coverage under a government program. Others
had coverage, but it would end if they quit or lost their jobs. So, in his campaign, Clinton promised
to reduce their insecurity with the slogan "No American will go without health care" (Campbell
216).
In the 1992 presidential election, Clinton defeated President George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot and
became the forty–second president of the United States. This election made Clinton the first
president born after World War II, or in other words, he and his wife Hillary were the first baby
boomer couple to occupy the White House. Hillary Clinton was the first

President Bill Clinton and President William Taft
Has anyone ever thought about our greatest presidents? Who was better than who? Why? Many
have and one can find the easy answers, but this paper goes deep into the lives of two great
presidents, President Bill Clinton and President William Taft. President Clinton and President Taft
were very different presidents for the United States of America, however, President Clinton had a
more accomplished presidency because he signed the violent crime control and law enforcement, he
led the nation to a period of strong economic prosperity, and while he was in office, unemployment
rates were the lowest in decades. Read into the depths of both of their lives and presidency, then
anyone would agree. President Clinton's life was very exciting and interesting, especially his early
life. He was born on August 19, 1946 in Hope, Arkansas. "His father died in a car crash 3 months
before Bill was born. He was left in the care of his mother, Virginia Cassidy Blythe. To provide for
Bill, his mother moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to study anesthesiology, while Bill stayed with

President Bill Clinton: A True Hero
President Bill Clinton and I locked eyes yesterday: no joke. We didn't talk much, yet that wasn't the
point. I didn't intend to meet him––not at all, even as he is a hero of mine. How did I get past the
secret service guarding the door? I smiled and walked on in as if I belonged, wearing my suit and
tie. My brother teased as I left for school, "good thing you're wearing a suit. You never know who
you will meet today." "That's the point," I asserted, stepping out the door.
I went to Seattle's celebrated Elliot Bay bookstore to purchase a bestselling book on conscious
capitalism. Being raised by a social worker, I respect people before profits. The big question is why
I was allowed in the bookstore, with just me, President Clinton, and the secret service? I left my
house dressed with all possibility in mind––I didn't ask for permission–– I wore it (and it wasn't just
the suit).
"Why do you wear a suit every day to school? Why do you take 20 college credits while working
part–time as a communications ambassador when you should be in high school? Why do you read
business and motivational books?" These questions allow me to examine and fine–tune my values.

If this plan is to work, then it better work quickly. If I release the scandal, should there be no

But then again, these are obvious acts of treason and espionage at hand. Even if I were to gain the

spies who committed the act should take the blame, and not me – the messenger.
Then again, if they do find out and the plan backfires. My whole career over, in an instant. You

Though America was passed the times of the civil war, it was still divided and racism was strong.
However, Clinton knew that the democrats would not win any election without the black vote
(Shields, 90). He therefore made it his mission to gain African American support by electing some
into office and his Cabinet, reforming welfare, and encouraged more and more black people to vote.
One of the biggest reforms that concerned both women and African Americans was the Welfare
Reform Bill of 1996. Clinton wanted to take affirmative action to reduce the amount of poverty and
unemployment. He did this first as governor of Arkansas by passing new laws to require families on
federal aid to gain employment within two years. He then expanded this on a nationwide level as
president and helped pass bills that would require welfare recipients to work, no benefits would be
available to unwed mothers under the age of eighteen, adding lifetime limits to welfare, forcing
fathers to pay child support, and denying assistance to both legal and illegal immigrants (Shields,

President Bill Clinton and The Lewinsky Scandal Essay
Clinton and The Lewinsky Scandal
On January 17th, 1998, President Clinton videotaped a deposition for the Paula Jones lawsuit
against him. December 19th, eleven months later, Bill Clinton became only the second president in
our nation's history to face impeachment from congress. The 1998–1999 was a tumultuous year for
the President, the media, and the American people as a whole.
Yet, the most intriguing and surprising aspect of the scandal was not that Bill Clinton would ever
cheat on his wife or that his administration would survive such a terrible scandal. Nor was it a
revelation that the media would be zealously intrigued by a sex scandal involving the President. The
one aspect of the Lewinksy Scandal that was truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is too early to accurately judge the presidency of Bill Clinton, most would agree that he was
successful in office. He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt.
Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze
Bill Clinton's presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that
Clinton faced – and survived –were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. On one hand,
they showed the well–documented weakness of Clinton's personal character – his infidelities, his
evasiveness, and his lack of integrity. Yet, Clinton's ability to survive these scandals are a true
testament how politically cunning and brilliant the man was.
In examining the political life of Bill Clinton, five major scandals stick out: his draft record;
Gennifer Flowers and Infidelity; the Marijuana controversy; Whitewater; the Lewinsky Affair. Any
one of these scandals could easily – and have on numerous occasions– ruin a political career. Yet, in
each of these episodes Clinton was unusually adept at surviving and restoring his image. The
importance of illustrating Clinton's past encounters with scandal is not to show the moral weakness
of Clinton's character; nor is it to show cagey moves of

The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton
The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The impeachment of President Clinton is something that
will be remembered forever. Along with the fact that a presidential impeachment has only happened
one other time since the Civil War, the publicity that came with the Clinton trial was extensive
(Miller 2004). While the Republican and Democratic members of the House of Representatives had
vastly different views on impeaching President Clinton, the fact that only five Democratic
Representatives voted to impeach him truly shows how wide that gap was between the two parties.
Clinton was impeached on the grounds of perjury to a grand jury and obstruction of justice, with the
vote on both articles extremely close, a 228–206 vote on perjury to a ... Show more content on

Whatever the merits of that argument, such action is clearly unnecessary. There is no need or
justification for us to take this important action in such haste" (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). In
another case, Democrat Rush Holt defeated Republican Michael Pappas in the 1998 contest of New
Jersey's 12th Congressional District, but Pappas still cast his vote on the impeachment. Holt
believed that Pappas should withdraw his impeachment vote because "it's a matter of historic
significance and he doesn't have to answer to anybody" (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). Against
Holt's and many others' views, Pappas, along with the other thirty–nine representatives in their final
term, participated in the impeachment trial while facing no electoral accountability (Rothenberg and
Sanders 2000). While the Democrats still could have received some votes from the departing
Republican representatives, the chances that enough Republican representatives would vote non–
guilty to create a Democratic majority were very slim. In the 105th Congress, the House of
Representatives consisted of 227 members from the Republican Party, 207 members from the
Democratic Party, and one member who was Independent but sided with the Democrats
(Congressional Pictorial Directory). With the fifty–two percent Republican majority, as long as all
227 Republicans voted for the counts of impeaching Clinton, no Democratic votes would be needed.

Bill Clinton's Popularity Despite the Scandals Essay
The name William Jefferson "Bill" Clinton either creates a negative image or a positive image in the
minds of most Americans. Bill Clinton was the 42nd President of the United States of America and
served two consecutive terms. He is one of the most popular presidents in history – right up there
with Kennedy and even Abraham Lincoln. Nevertheless, there are a group of Americans that
remember President Clinton in a negative light. These Americans could be described as the "moral

of the presidency suffered throughout the sex scandal and impeachment of President Clinton. Did

A large number of Americans now believe that a political figure such as a president, senator, judge,
etc. has a right to their own private life; and that immoral behavior does not reflect on how they
govern or perform their job duties. President Clinton's approval rating did go down for a short time
during the impeachment but it went up very quickly – above 70 percent – which indicates the public
did not believe the scandal would impair President Clinton's abilities to govern. Well, he is just
human and no one is perfect.
President Clinton is certainly human and makes mistakes, just like all of us do. But he has this
ability to reach out to the common man and woman. He is very likable and is probably one of the
greatest speakers in America. When he was President of the United States he would be seen in the
media doing everyday things like jogging around the neighborhood, eating at fast food restaurants
such as McDonald's, appearing on talk shows, and playing the saxophone. He seems common

Comparing the Foreign Policy of Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton Towards North Korea
Since its creation after the Korean War in 1950, North Korea, also known as the Democratic People
Republic of Korea (DPRK), has caused many problems for the United States. North Korea has, for
instance, broken treaties and even gone so far as to threaten the use of nuclear weapons. Naturally,
different presidents have dealt with North Korea in different ways. Take Eisenhower for example, he
actually threatened the use of nuclear weapons against North Korea in 1953 (obviously before North
Korea had nuclear capabilities). Many presidents ignored North Korea all together, and some tried
to ignore the country, but circumstances did not allow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He mentions that Clinton never made any talk about North Korea during his first presidential
campaign in 1992. However, Clinton very quickly figured out he would have to deal with North
Korea when fears starting to arise that they were generating materials for nuclear weapons with their
small nuclear reactor in Yongbyon. Clinton, in response to these fears, decided to start military
training exercises, known as Team Spirit, in South Korea. This flexing of military muscle prompted
North Korea to threaten to pull out of the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT). After some negotiations
North Korea agreed to pull back on their threat of withdrawing from the NPT. This led Clinton to
reward North Korea for its reversal by not considering any trade sanction or military actions against
the DPRK. Things started growing worse though as the fear that North Korea had nuclear
capabilities grew. Leading the fears along was the fact that the dictator of North Korea at the time,
Kim Il Sung, was blocking nuclear inspectors from reaching the nuclear reactors they wanted to
inspect. Furthermore, it was later concluded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that
North Korea did indeed have nuclear capabilities. These new developments brought the United
States to the brink of war with North Korea. Before shots, or rockets in this case, could be fired an
agreement known as the Agreed Framework was signed on October 21, 1994. Among other things in

This is where Clinton became a Baptist during his young life. Clinton enjoyed gospel music. He

the best saxophonist within the city. Clinton did not live an easy life by far. At the age of 14, the
President had to put on his big boy pants and intervene in his mother's abusive relationship. Forcing
the abuse to stop, as young Clinton stood six foot tall, Mrs. Clinton later filed for divorce.

The President Of Arkansas, Bill Clinton Essay
The governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, was the first Democratic candidate in the election of 1992,
becoming the first Democratic president since 1976. He was the president number 42 and occupied
two presidential period between 1993 to 2000. When he was nominated to the presidency in 1992 by
the Democratic party, Clinton centered his campaign in creating jobs, focusing on the image that is
close to ordinary people because he does not come from an elite of millionaires like his challenger
George W. Bush. Clinton was favored with the career of three rivals counting Ross Perot. In fact, he
won with the 43 percent of the votes, while Bush won only with the 37 percent. Consequently, the
Democrats retained their majority in both chambers of government. Bush, acting as President in
functions, proceeded to sending 20.000 American soldiers to Somalia under the auspices of the
ONU to keep the peace and help to support the humanitarian aid. This action received the support of
the President–elect Clinton, like the signing in January of 1993 of Start II Treaty related with the
nuclear disarmament between Bush and the Russian President Boris Yeltsin. During the first month
of his mandate, Clinton introduced many reforms initiatives related with foreign polity, also remove
legal barriers to abortion, and attempted to end the ban on entry of the homosexuals in the military.

The president of the United States is arguably the toughest job you can hold as an American. It takes

country's debt down to zero. Sure he had his short comings, but he was still the best at being the
president. Now there is more things that make him the greatest like, having the greatest economic
expansion in history. What he did was opened our trades to foreign markets and invested in the

plan that he made in 1993, the national poverty rate decreased from 15.1 percent to 11.8 percent,
that may not seem like a lot, but that's actually a really impressive thing to do in the time that he was

What he had done was nearly doubled financial aid for students by increasing Pell Grants to the
largest award ever, expanding Federal Work–Study to allow 1 million students to work their way

Presidential Candidates: The Mistakes Of President Bill...
This presidential election is gearing up to be one of the most if not the most interesting, and strange
presidential election in the history of the United States of America. In addition, both Donald Trump
and Hilary Clinton are not very loved by the American people. Many individuals feel as if Clinton is
a rotten liar and should be in federal prison, and on the other hand many Americans are scared of
trump and his ideologies. Sadly, one of them will win the race to the White House, unless something
shady occurs. Nevertheless, candidates always make mistakes during their campaigns; sometimes
costly mistakes. Though many political scientists have been in favor of Clinton winning this
election, there four costly mistakes she can make that can cost her the election. As a matter of fact,
she's currently makes those mistakes. The first mistake that can cost Clinton the election is taking

One of the keys to Clinton winning this election is turning red voters blue. Conversely, that is not
happening quite yet for Clinton. Yes, there are some republicans that are determined to never voting
for Trump, however, a reasonable moderate–right contender could arise as a candid substitute
instead of Donald Trump. For example, Bill Weld who has a widespread history with Clinton has
agreed to join Gary Johnson on a probable Libertarian Party ticket. Now, Republican leaders will
not have to be forced to vote for Clinton and instead have the option to vote for Trump or Johnson as
well. In the meantime, other anti–trump republicans will still refuse to vote for Clinton; and as a
result will boost his numbers in important states such as Iowa, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida.
If Hilary ends up losing this November, her supports will feel stupid that they did not lock in
moderate republicans

that read "resist" and called trump a fascist, but when questioned on the definition of fascism, didn't
know it; alas the ignorance is nonpartisan. Protesters were heard chanting blocks away during
Trump's speech, although faint. Quickly after i made my way to the protests, not necessarily to take
part, but to witness just as i witnessed the inauguration. At mcpherson square in dc there was quite a
large gathering, and michael moore gave a speech to inspire us into action. As i walked around
taking the experience in, i noticed a couple young trump supporters with their red hats on, being
surrounded by a group of protesters dressed in all black. Things turned violent, with water bottles
being thrown, then rocks, and eventually one was kicked to the ground. I helped him up, and
escorted him away from the hostile "protesters" but just as we were clear, a masked man hit him

They were engaged and married shortly after his decision. Hillary even established her own very

impatient with being just a governor. No way, that was not good enough for him. Clinton had bigger
and badder things on his mind, and he was raring to go. The same dream he had since high school
was going to become a reality. Bill Clinton announced his intention to seek the 1992 Democratic
presidential nomination. All the time he was governor, new ideas, goals, and campaigning tactics
had been burning into his mind, just waiting for this moment. Clinton didn't waste a minute to start
gaining popularity. The skills Clinton possessed as a campaigner were outstanding. He had the
ability to sharply define issues in his favor. As most everyone does, Bill had the tendency to give in
to public opinion instead of trying to shape it. For example, during his campaign in 1992, he
revealed that he wore boxers, not briefs. Although completely irrelevant, these remarks are possibly
what made him an appealing, down–to–earth president. Shortly following, Bill Clinton was

Donald Trump's Arguments Against President Bill Clinton
Republican candidate Donald Trump has been compared frequently to notorious leaders such as
Adolf Hitler and notably to Voldemort, to which author J.K. Rowling responded with "Voldemort

nonfiction.
Foremost, Trump creates a mockery of politics. According to polls from Huffington Post on Apr. 3,
45 percent of the Republican party favors Trump, and Trump will likely win the presidential
nomination. With the possibility of President Trump becoming increasingly realistic, teenagers,
especially those eligible to vote, should not be distracted by the showiness of this election cycle.
Furthermore, Trump's method of blaming other countries or people for problems within the United

got married in 1975. Not long after he moved back to Arkansas, Clinton threw himself into politics
by running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives against Republican John Paul
Hammerschmidt. Even though Clinton lost this 1974 race, it was Hammerschmidt's closest election
in the twenty–six years he had been in Congress (Dumas 2). This election showed that Clinton was a
rising political star.
Two years after his defeat, Clinton was elected as state attorney general of Arkansas. Then, in 1978,
at the age of thirty–two, Clinton ran for governor. It was an easy victory for Clinton, and it made

In 1867, the Republicans passed the Tenure of Office Act that occurred over the president's veto.
According to the Tenure of Office Act, the president did not possess enough power to remove an
official that was put in office through senatorial approval. The act was mainly meant to protect those
officials who were Republicans. Late 1867, President Johnson decided to put the constitutionality of
the Tenure of Office Act to the test, this was done by replacing Stanton with Ulysses Grant.
However, Johnson was forced to return the office back to Stanton after the Senate had put in place a
measure to protest the president's move. On February 21, 1968, Johnston decided to do away with
Stanton forever. Johnston did this by replacing Stanton with Lorenzo Thomas. This Simple act leads
to the impeachment of President Johnson and unlike Bill Clinton's, it was a successful one (Foner
653). Fifty years from now, the Americans will be able to see that in a democracy, no one is
indispensable including the president.
It was a sexual harassment case in 1994, by Paula Jones, a former Arkansas employee, in which the
origins of Bill Clinton's impeachment start. Ms. Jones made accusations that President Clinton had
infringed some of her federal civil rights while she was an employee at Arkansas state while Clinton
was the then governor of Arkansas. As per the allegations, President Clinton had

  • 3. Bill Clinton, A Good President? Bill Clinton a good president? As we see throughout history many people ignorant to many accomplishments presidents have, and only remember them for their assassinations or their scandals. Bill Clinton to many people is viewed as bad president over his scandalous affair with Monica Lewinsky. However Clinton was deeply involved in his Baptist Church, and once said ""Religious faith has permitted me to believe in the continuing possibility of becoming a better person every day, to believe in the search for complete integrity in life." Although Clinton had an affair, that didn't affect his ability to govern the United States. Many people overlook the several accomplishments that he did for the United States of America because of that simple mistake that he had in his marriage. One of the several things Bill Clinton did was he reduced the crime rate. The crime rate fell every year that Clinton was president and was at a 26–year low by the end of his two terms. He also got funding to employ 100,000 nationwide. One very important thing that he bills that he signed was the Brady Bill was required a waiting period and a background check to purchase handguns, and in 1994 his Crime Bill included a ban on assault weapons which lead to a 40 percent decline in gun crime by 2001. Clinton was a strong supporter of modernizing the US military, which led to increased technology and efficiency. His administration focused on precision weapons and GPS technology, to reduce collateral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Active– positives display personal growth and stability, which they take pleasure in their job and the challenges they face with power productivity to pursue their objectives. Also, they pragmatic political figures that possess flexibility in their pursuit of achieving their goals and are willing to alter or abolishing their goals rather than experience severe consequences (Maltese, 164). President Franklin D. Roosevelt and President William Clinton had similar and contrasting viewpoints on domestic policy. Both presidents took office which there was an economic struggle and unemployment was low. Nevertheless, Clinton defeated three Democratic candidates to become the parties' official nominee to run against Hammerschmidt. Clinton ran an energetic campaign but was still defeated. Hammerschmidt won the race by getting 52 percent of the votes. Clinton was devastated after being defeated in 1974 for Congress Campaign for Arkansas' 3rd district. This, however, was not his first lapse in judgment as viewed by the Senate and Congress. The President and his wife, Hillary, found themselves involved in the Whitewater scandal beginning in 1978. • 13. Donald Trump's Argument Against President Bill Clinton I really did not feel compelled to write this piece, but as days passed after the election I felt like Americans needed little light shed on the situation. Tuesday night was a very nail bitter situation as millions of Americans were anxiously waiting for results, but in the wee hours of the mornings as you already know Donald Trump was declared our President. Whether you support him or not, it happened and all we can do is move forward. It is understandable to be a little frustrated at first if your candidate lost, but what I saw on social media was complete HATRED from both parties. My heart began to ache after just a few seconds of reading several posts that were filled with the same wretched lies. Hillary supporters calling every republican racist and sexist, but then republicans calling democrats upset because we can't be baby killers anymore and getting our food stamps taken away. My biggest problem is the defamation with these posts. If you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has a lot more to offer than any political candidate. Trump can surely not do it alone as I quoted Hillary earlier he needs the backing of America, to put aside our differences and unite together not let the cracks get worse in this time of turmoil. God wants the world to be filled with an Agape love and I believe we can get there if people stop attacking each other on Facebook, but giving their fears and hopes over to God. War Room is a film about Bill Clinton, former President of the United States, and how his devoted staff led to his success in the election. The film stars James Carville and George Stephanopolous, both were nobodies at the time of filming but are now household names. Don Alan Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus made this masterpiece in a short filming period of 15 days. Though this movie is a remarkable journey through the lives of those contributing to Clinton's campaign, the making of the film has no lack of issues that occurred both on and off set. The "The War Room' garnered numerous honors including an Academy Award nomination" (New Challenges for Documentary, 327). This paper is going to explain how the film nearly did not receive such awards by discussing the history of the two filmakers, Pennebaker and Hegedus, and also the problems that occurred on and off set and how they were resolved. The history between the masterminds Pennebaker and Hegedus began in 1965 after Hegedus moved to New York City with hopes of focusing on politically oriented documentary work. Pennebaker was always devoted to his filmmaking, so devoted in fact that article writer George C. Stoney stated "it's a lot of fun watching cinema verite pioneer Pennebaker catch such moments of crisis as an argument over the color of campaign signs" (Cineaste, 57). The two then began working together on a project properly titled "Town Bloody Hall" that was mainly compiled of personal footage shot by Pennebaker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Bill Clinton Leadership Analysis Essay Leadership Analysis Review For this Leadership Analysis, I chose former President Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was born in Hope, AR on August 19, 1946. At an early age Bill had an experience that changed his life on July 24, 1963, a young Bill Clinton met President John F. Kennedy while attending Boys Nation. This meeting inspired the future president to pursue a life in public service. Bill Clinton was a President that did not allow anyone to tell him something could not be done. If this President found that something could not be completed, he would go as far as possible and then start on the next agenda on the list. He was a well–organized President with people in his cabinet that admired this ability. President Bill Clinton changed the entire ambiance of the country with his command of emotional intelligence. When the country was torn on issues, he would find a way to bring people together and solve the problem, or at least reach a successful consensus. Personal problems riddled the Clinton presidency, but this did not stop the forward successes claimed by this giant of a man. Unemployment was a sore subject, but under President Clinton's direction the economy grew and women and minorities finally began to be placed in high positions in the federal government. The private sector grew and added a high number of jobs in the economy Bill Clinton has displayed all five areas of self–awareness. Bill Clinton : The Second President Joycelynn Self Ms. Silvey English 3G 02 February 2015 William (Bill) Clinton was only the second president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives in 1998, but he was acquitted by the Senate the following year ("Bill Clinton."). President Clinton was impeached for perjury and for obstruction of justice; however, he was acquitted of both charges just two months later because of "lack of merit." Even after being acquitted from his impeachment, Bill Clinton realized he'd made a mistake, as most humans do, and resigned his presidency and formally apologized to his family and to the rest of the United States for his actions. Despite this scandalous event, it is my opinion that President Bill Clinton should not be judged on this one scandal, but by the many great things he's done for this country. In order to better understand Bill Clinton and to get a better view on what may have led him down his path to infamy, it's important to take a look into his childhood. Bill Clinton was born on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas under the name William Jefferson Blythe after his biological father. President Clinton's father died just months before he was born. In order to provide for her new baby, his mother left him with his grandparents for two years to go to nursing school. In the 1980's, the rate at which new jobs were created in Arkansas was among the highest in the nation. The jobs were there, but most of them didn't pay high wages and the average family income still remained low (American President 3). During the 1992 presidential campaign, Clinton promised to reform the health–care system, enact a tax cut for the middle class, reduce the federal budget deficit, and make major investments in the nation's highways, bridges, and hospitals to name a few (Dumas 4). The health–care reform was the most ambitious item on Clinton's campaign platform. He promised to fix the two major problems of American health care: rising costs and the widespread lack of coverage. A large number of Americans had neither private health insurance nor coverage under a government program. Others had coverage, but it would end if they quit or lost their jobs. So, in his campaign, Clinton promised to reduce their insecurity with the slogan "No American will go without health care" (Campbell 216). In the 1992 presidential election, Clinton defeated President George H. W. Bush and Ross Perot and became the forty–second president of the United States. This election made Clinton the first president born after World War II, or in other words, he and his wife Hillary were the first baby boomer couple to occupy the White House. My brother teased as I left for school, "good thing you're wearing a suit. You never know who you will meet today." "That's the point," I asserted, stepping out the door. I went to Seattle's celebrated Elliot Bay bookstore to purchase a bestselling book on conscious capitalism. Being raised by a social worker, I respect people before profits. The big question is why I was allowed in the bookstore, with just me, President Clinton, and the secret service? I left my house dressed with all possibility in mind––I didn't ask for permission–– I wore it (and it wasn't just the suit). "Why do you wear a suit every day to school? Why do you take 20 college credits while working part–time as a communications ambassador when you should be in high school? Why do you read business and motivational books?" These questions allow me to examine and fine–tune my values. In brief––I commit to being the best I can be in any situation, to create an impact in people's lives. If I release the scandal, should there be no speculation, just disregard and trust in its source; that should put an end to the whole affair. Even if I were to gain the presidency, I would still have to address these crimes and punish some. However, Clinton knew that the democrats would not win any election without the black vote (Shields, 90). He therefore made it his mission to gain African American support by electing some into office and his Cabinet, reforming welfare, and encouraged more and more black people to vote. One of the biggest reforms that concerned both women and African Americans was the Welfare Reform Bill of 1996. Clinton wanted to take affirmative action to reduce the amount of poverty and unemployment. He did this first as governor of Arkansas by passing new laws to require families on federal aid to gain employment within two years. He then expanded this on a nationwide level as president and helped pass bills that would require welfare recipients to work, no benefits would be available to unwed mothers under the age of eighteen, adding lifetime limits to welfare, forcing fathers to pay child support, and denying assistance to both legal and illegal immigrants (Shields, 144–145). He was the first democrat to successfully be reelected since Franklin Roosevelt. Yet, when a sufficient amount of time has passed and historians attempt to categorize and analyze Bill Clinton's presidency, his legacy will ultimately be tied to scandal. The numerous scandals that Clinton faced – and survived –were an important aspect of the Clinton presidency. On one hand, they showed the well–documented weakness of Clinton's personal character – his infidelities, his evasiveness, and his lack of integrity. Yet, Clinton's ability to survive these scandals are a true testament how politically cunning and brilliant the man was. Any one of these scandals could easily – and have on numerous occasions– ruin a political career. Yet, in each of these episodes Clinton was unusually adept at surviving and restoring his image. • 45. The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The Impeachment of President Bill Clinton The impeachment of President Clinton is something that will be remembered forever. Along with the fact that a presidential impeachment has only happened one other time since the Civil War, the publicity that came with the Clinton trial was extensive (Miller 2004). While the Republican and Democratic members of the House of Representatives had vastly different views on impeaching President Clinton, the fact that only five Democratic Representatives voted to impeach him truly shows how wide that gap was between the two parties. Clinton was impeached on the grounds of perjury to a grand jury and obstruction of justice, with the vote on both articles extremely close, a 228–206 vote on perjury to a ... In another case, Democrat Rush Holt defeated Republican Michael Pappas in the 1998 contest of New Jersey's 12th Congressional District, but Pappas still cast his vote on the impeachment. Holt believed that Pappas should withdraw his impeachment vote because "it's a matter of historic significance and he doesn't have to answer to anybody" (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). Against Holt's and many others' views, Pappas, along with the other thirty–nine representatives in their final term, participated in the impeachment trial while facing no electoral accountability (Rothenberg and Sanders 2000). While the Democrats still could have received some votes from the departing Republican representatives, the chances that enough Republican representatives would vote non– guilty to create a Democratic majority were very slim. In the 105th Congress, the House of Representatives consisted of 227 members from the Republican Party, 207 members from the Democratic Party, and one member who was Independent but sided with the Democrats (Congressional Pictorial Directory). However, Clinton very quickly figured out he would have to deal with North Korea when fears starting to arise that they were generating materials for nuclear weapons with their small nuclear reactor in Yongbyon. Clinton, in response to these fears, decided to start military training exercises, known as Team Spirit, in South Korea. This flexing of military muscle prompted North Korea to threaten to pull out of the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT). After some negotiations North Korea agreed to pull back on their threat of withdrawing from the NPT. This led Clinton to reward North Korea for its reversal by not considering any trade sanction or military actions against the DPRK. Things started growing worse though as the fear that North Korea had nuclear capabilities grew. Leading the fears along was the fact that the dictator of North Korea at the time, Kim Il Sung, was blocking nuclear inspectors from reaching the nuclear reactors they wanted to inspect. Furthermore, it was later concluded by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that North Korea did indeed have nuclear capabilities. They were engaged and married shortly after his decision. Hillary even established her own very successful law practice in Little Rock. Five years afterward marriage, Hillary became pregnant and they were blessed with their only daughter, Chelsea. By this time in his life, Bill was growing impatient with being just a governor. No way, that was not good enough for him. Clinton had bigger and badder things on his mind, and he was raring to go. The same dream he had since high school was going to become a reality. Bill Clinton announced his intention to seek the 1992 Democratic presidential nomination. All the time he was governor, new ideas, goals, and campaigning tactics had been burning into his mind, just waiting for this moment. Clinton didn't waste a minute to start gaining popularity. The skills Clinton possessed as a campaigner were outstanding. He had the ability to sharply define issues in his favor. As most everyone does, Bill had the tendency to give in to public opinion instead of trying to shape it. For example, during his campaign in 1992, he revealed that he wore boxers, not briefs. Although completely irrelevant, these remarks are possibly what made him an appealing, down–to–earth president. Shortly following, Bill Clinton was inaugurated as President of the United States in January 1993, after defeating George Bush senior. At 46, he was the youngest US president since John ... • 65. Donald Trump's Arguments Against President Bill Clinton Republican candidate Donald Trump has been compared frequently to notorious leaders such as Adolf Hitler and notably to Voldemort, to which author J.K. Rowling responded with "Voldemort was nowhere near as bad". The scariest thing about Trump is that, unlike Voldemort, he is nonfiction. Foremost, Trump creates a mockery of politics. According to polls from Huffington Post on Apr. 3, 45 percent of the Republican party favors Trump, and Trump will likely win the presidential nomination. With the possibility of President Trump becoming increasingly realistic, teenagers, especially those eligible to vote, should not be distracted by the showiness of this election cycle. Furthermore, Trump's method of blaming other countries or people for problems within the United States is harmful because it fans the flames of racism. Even in his presidential campaign announcement, he pinpoints Latin and South Americans as rapists and drug dealers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Feb., Ted Cruz released a rap song called "It Feels Good to be a Clinton" attacking Hillary Clinton, and while releasing advertisements against opponents is not new, the manner in which he parodies Clinton is disrespectful as well as substanceless. Democratic candidates can also be observed using bandwagoning to promote themselves as well. Democratic front–runner Hillary Clinton utilizes trends and popular celebrities to promote herself, for example Caitlyn Jenner, who became a very publicized and controversial figure due to her transition. Clinton's appearance on "I am Cait" remained superficial as they failed to discuss any politics, other than a few comments about transgender rights. On the other hand, Bernie Sanders and Trump both efficiently use Twitter to bash other candidates. The tactlessness of the candidates raises concerns about their ability to maintain diplomacy as ... • 69. Trump's Argument Against President Bill Clinton As America gets older and travels further and further down the road of time with President Trump the more we–the citizens–find that our new "leader" fears and loathes the press. Trump has often shown his dislike of news outlets no matter their political stance or credibility, at least he treats them the same. Trumps behavior of calling news outlets and journalists names however; is simply childlike, unprofessional, and quite frankly, ridiculous. It is without a doubt that if Trump remains president in the upcoming years the news community will change perhaps even our most basic rights like freedom of press may be wrenched from us and we may be thrown into a totalitarian like government (a centralized government that does not tolerate parties ... They adopted the "Decree on the Press," which shut down any newspapers "sowing discord by libelous distortion of facts." (Podrabinek). Not long after he moved back to Arkansas, Clinton threw himself into politics by running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives against Republican John Paul Hammerschmidt. Even though Clinton lost this 1974 race, it was Hammerschmidt's closest election in the twenty–six years he had been in Congress (Dumas 2). This election showed that Clinton was a rising political star. Two years after his defeat, Clinton was elected as state attorney general of Arkansas. Then, in 1978, at the age of thirty–two, Clinton ran for governor. It was an easy victory for Clinton, and it made him one of the nation's youngest governors ever. Even though this was a big step for Clinton, his young age and inexperience quickly left the Arkansas population unimpressed. Governor Clinton had several problems during his term and did several things that the people of Arkansas didn't agree with. Consequently, the voters elected Frank White instead of him in the next election. White was a little known, new Republican businessman who switched parties just to run against Clinton. Now Clinton was the youngest former governor in American history (Dumas 3). Shocked by his defeat, Clinton went to work for a Little Rock law firm. While at the law firm, he spent a great deal of his time campaigning for reelection. In the 1982 race, Clinton admitted his mistakes and used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Reflective Essay: My Life Of President Bill Clinton The number of pieces isn't significant, but never before have I written so prolifically and passionately by constantly jotting down whatever comes to my mind. Although I trip up with word choice or wordiness once in a while, I have studied vocabulary extensively, so it no longer retards me but takes a back seat to grammar. Having grown up in an education system whose focus was saturated with grammar and other language rules, the mistakes are even more dispiriting and disgraceful as they obstruct my readers' impression as well as comprehension. As a whole, like fireflies out in the night, those privileges have been so obsessive and sensitive to me. President Graham's Argument Against President Bill Clinton He may not have been on the debate stage in Houston last Thursday night, but Senator Lindsey Graham expressed tough words for his former Republican rivals during a speech in Washington last night. A good republican would kill Ted Cruz after tonight, that ain't happening," Graham said. "If you kill Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody could convict you." His lame jokes on Cruz didn't stop there. He went on to criticized the Texas Senator for being born in Canada. "I know exactly when Ted is going to drop out of the race," Graham said. "March 12. That's Canadian week in Myrtle Beach." The Senator continued on to mock the rest of the current 2016 GOP field. • 77. President Bill Clinton 's Impeachment I was 17 at the time, I remember walking into the house and my parents were glued to the television. It was basically on every channel, the House of Representative voted to impeach President Bill Clinton. I remember the news asking people what they thought. The people they asked were divided. The older crowd was for his removal from office and the younger crowd was against it. President Bill Clinton's impeachment was not the first in American history. The first presidential impeachment was in 1868 when President Johnson had removed the then War Secretary. This was two years after the Tenure of Office Act, which barred the president from removing some major office holders in the government without the consent of the Senate. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1867, the Republicans passed the Tenure of Office Act that occurred over the president's veto. According to the Tenure of Office Act, the president did not possess enough power to remove an official that was put in office through senatorial approval. The act was mainly meant to protect those officials who were Republicans. Late 1867, President Johnson decided to put the constitutionality of the Tenure of Office Act to the test, this was done by replacing Stanton with Ulysses Grant. However, Johnson was forced to return the office back to Stanton after the Senate had put in place a measure to protest the president's move. On February 21, 1968, Johnston decided to do away with Stanton forever. Johnston did this by replacing Stanton with Lorenzo Thomas. This Simple act leads to the impeachment of President Johnson and unlike Bill Clinton's, it was a successful one (Foner 653).
