Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

the course of a follow-up exam today, Secretary
Clinton's doctors discovered a blood clot had
formed, stemming from the concussion she sustained
several weeks ago. She is being treated with anti-
coagulants and is at New York-Presbyterian Hospital
so that they can monitor the medication over the
next 48 hours.” Let’s hope nothing bad happens

daughter. She was born on February 27,
1980 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Fortunately,
Chelsea Victoria Clinton is still alive. She is
currently not experiencing any disease
8. This is Bill Clinton’s
Signature.
Now, let’s talk about our main person. The
42nd president of the United States of
America. His name is William Jefferson “Bill”
Clinton. His political party is the democratic
party. This is what he looks like:
9. In Hot Springs, Bill attended St. John's Catholic
Elementary School, Ramble Elementary School,
and Hot Springs High School – where he was an
active student leader, avid reader, and
musician. He was in the chorus and played
the tenor saxophone, winning first chair in the
state band's saxophone section. He actually
considered dedicating his life to music!!
10. Bill Clinton was highly influenced by the
preachings of Martin Luther King Jr. He
attended and memorized Martins' “I Have
a Dream” Speech.
11. In 1964, Clinton graduated from Hot Springs High
School. In 1963, as part of the American Legion Boys’
Nation program, he went to Washington, D.C., and
shook hands with President John Kennedy at the White
House. Later Kennedy inspired him to pursue a career in
public service. Clinton went on to earn a degree from
Georgetown University in 1968. Afterward, he attended
Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship. In 1973, he
received a degree from Yale Law School.
At Yale, Clinton started dating fellow law student Hillary
Rodham (starting from 1947). After graduating, the
couple moved to Clinton’s home state, where he
worked as a law professor at the University of Arkansas.
So, his early career was just being a law professor.
12. In 1974, Bill ran for Congress against an incumbent Republican Congressman. No one
expected Bill to win or even be competitive. Bill, however, campaigned hard and only lost
by a few hundred votes. Instead of discouraging him, Bill went back out to meet people
the day after the election. In 1976, Bill was elected the Attorney General of Arkansas at the
age of 30. Two years later Bill ran for governor and won, becoming the youngest governor
in the United States in over four decades. Bill Clinton, however, became too ambitious and
alienated the voters of Arkansas, losing a close re-election campaign. Although this would
have ruined the careers of most politicians, Bill Clinton persevered and rebuilt his image
and won back the governor's mansion in 1982. Bill, learning from his earlier mistakes, toned
down his agenda, but still accomplished his goal of improving Arkansas' public schools. Bill
has also exhibited slightly erratic behavior characterized by several geniuses. In 1988,
nearly all of Bill Clinton's friends expected him to run for president. As late as thirty minutes
before Bill's press conference, his top aide was convinced that Bill would run for president.
Hillary had no clue what Bill had decided. Apparently, Bill decided when he was walking to
the podium that he would seek re-election as governor and not seek the presidency. Bill,
however, did make one enormous blunder during the 1988 campaign. Bill gave a horrible
speech at the Democratic National Convention. Many pundits declared his national
political career dead before it even started. Bill Clinton, however, proved the pundits
wrong by winning the presidency in 1992, by overcoming a plethora of charges brought by
some very powerful opponents. Throughout, Bill Clinton has surmounted many setbacks
during his presidency including failure of his health care package, the 1994 Congressional
elections, and of course the numerous scandals. But despite these setbacks Bill Clinton
persevered and accumulating a significant number of accomplishments, including
passage of his 1993 Budget, the Brady Bill, a balanced budget, welfare reform, NAFTA, and
winning re-election in 1996.
13. Bill Clinton’s term(s) of office were from
January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001.
However, he only had 2 terms. During the 1st
term, he signed the Family and Medical
Leave Act of 1193 on February 5. During the
2nd term, Clinton proposed a new initiative to
provide coverage to up to five million
children. These are his terms of office.
14. Bill Clinton’s Political Party is the Democratic
Party. This was from 1993 to 2001. In 1987, there
was media speculation Clinton would enter the
race after then-New York Governor Mario
Cuomo declined to run and Democratic front-
runner Gary Hart withdrew owing to revelations
of marital infidelity. Clinton decided to remain as
Arkansas governor. For the nomination, Clinton
endorsed Massachusetts Governor Michael
Dukakis. He gave the nationally televised
opening night address at the 1988 Democratic
National Convention, but his speech, which was
33 minutes long and twice as long as it was
expected to be, was criticized for being too
long and poorly delivered. Presenting himself as
a moderate and a member of the New
Democrat wing of the Democratic Party.
15. This is Al Gore’s
Signature.
The Vice – President during Bill Clinton's
presidency was Al Gore. He was born on
March 31, 1948 in Washington, D.C.
Fortunately, Al Gore is still alive. He is
currently not experiencing any disease
16. 1993 – Thirteen wild fires raged Southern California, some
attributed to arson. Five counties were declared disaster
areas.
1994 – A destructive earthquake registering 6.8 on the Richter
scale, centered in Northridge, struck Southern California at
4:31 a.m.
1995 – Earthquake, measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale, hits
Kobe, Japan.
1996 – Hurricane Fran hits Carolina coast.
1997 – Mexico announced that it will repay U.S. loan three
years ahead of schedule.
1998 – AT&T announced its plan to acquire cable giant TCI.
1999 – A 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Taiwan.
2000 – China was granted permanent normal trade relations
status with the U.S.
2001 – End of Bill Clinton’s Presidency
17. Bill Clinton had an influence on well,
everybody. Since he was president, almost
everybody took him as a role model.
18. Bill Clinton currently lives in Chappaqua, New
York. He lives in a house with his wife, Hillary
Clinton. This is what his house looks like:
19. What is the president doing now? Oh, I know.
He is busy running the William J. Clinton
Foundation. The William J. Clinton Foundation
is a foundation Bill Clinton established with the
mission to improve global health, strengthen
economies, promote healthier childhoods and
health and wellness, and protect the
environment by fostering partnerships among
businesses, governments, nongovernmental
organizations, and private citizens.
20. After Bill Clinton left the White House, he moved to
Chappaqua, New York, the home-base of that state's junior
member of the United States Senate, Hillary Clinton. The
former President keeps an office in New York City and
maintains an active speaking schedule. His energies are
devoted to two common post-presidential chores: writing a
memoir and overseeing the creation of his presidential library
in Little Rock, Arkansas. Moreover, as one of the youngest
men ever to depart the presidency, he is still actively involved
in issues of public concern, especially through the work of the
Clinton Presidential Foundation. The Foundation's agenda
includes combating HIV/AIDS, fostering racial and ethnic
reconciliation, and promoting the economic empowerment
of poor people. Clinton also has a reputation as one of the
most smart political experts within the Democratic Party.
21. Bill Clinton is my favorite president. There are
about a million things he has done for not just
America, but for the world. For example, he
created the William J. Clinton Foundation;
And that helps people around the world. He
had also had the economy booming with the
record of the largest budget surplus (amount
of money left) in America’s history. He helped
the most people get jobs during the
presidency. If only we could just make the
terms longer . . .
