2. A digipak is a limited edition packaging for
an album/single/DVD release. It typically
consists of a book style paperboard, with
one or more plastic trays capable of holding
CD or DVD attached to the inside. Digipakstyle cases grew in popularity among
record labels and recording artists in the
early 2000s.

They look a lot better than normal cases
more visual for the human eye.
They are more expensive than normal cases
and you only really getting a little bit more of
a case
Digipaks don’t crack but they do rip with
more use of them.
When teeth tray breaks in the digipak the
CD/DVD falls out of the bottom.
They are more environmentally friendly
because they are made out of recycled paper.

This is a good example of a digipak
because the up on Rihanna’s face is used
as the main selling point of the CD. The
record company use bright colours and
the iconography of her face to remind the
audience of the what to expect out of the
CD. This is important because they must
consider a coherent marketing strategy
and sell Rihanna as a brand which is
easily recognisable

The digipaks are a special edition CD/DVD
case where the company put them on the
market to get more money for the
film/artist. They say they are only out for
a limited time so more people want to buy
them straight away instead just the
original copy. They create more capital for
the company.
