2. PURPOSE:
The purpose of the poster alike ‘THE
ROOMMATE’ is to entice the reader
into watching the film through direct
eye-contact of all characters featured
on the page.
LAYOUT:
The layout on the poster is dissimilar
to the layout on ‘THE ROOMMATE’
poster. This is because this poster has
not followed convention within layout
of the page. They didn’t use the grid
method to frame the image, but
instead have used the grid to frame
the bottom image rather than the
larger main image. I believe this has
been done to draw more attention to
the main image.
IMAGE:
Within this poster there are 2 separate
images. The larger image is placed
above the film title to make her seem
superior in comparison to the children
placed beneath. The shot of the main
character is a close up giving the
reader a greater insight into who she
is. The direct eye-contact makes the
reader feel slightly threatened and
over-powered. The second image
placed beneath the main image is of
the children she is going to babysit in
the film. The way they have minimised
this image is to draw the readers focus
to the image above and to also make
them appear vulnerable and weak.
COLOUR SCHEME:
The colour scheme within the poster is
a mixture of light and dark. It is a
white background making the featured
characters from the film stand out,
and the writing is dark black. This has
been done to make a contrast
between what babysitters are meant
to be like and the main character
within this film being a psychopath.
The font used for the title of the film is
effective as it is fragmented and the
letters have a slight shattered effect,
which has been done to represent the
brokenness of normality within the
girl.
