2. REASONS TO VOTE
• For one the brave men and women who die everyday are fighting for this
freedom and the least we can do is take advantage.
• I also want to vote so my word will be heard and hopefully help lead the country
in the right direction.
• I would love to change the amount of corruption in the government and political
parties in the U.S.
• I would love to keep social security and healthcare but get rid of the people
abusing the system.
3. WHAT I LEARNED
• In chapter 7.2 of Living Democracy we learn about the powers of the president. I
learned through class and through real life how much power the president has
with an executive order. The executive order was created by FDR in 1939. I would
like to learn more about the constitution mainly because the pure vagueness of it.
It intrigues me very much do to the fact that it is the building blocks of our
country.
4. POLITICAL ISSUE
• If there was one issue I see brewing in the US today that will be a battle for years
to come it would be the immigration laws. Many left wing people want to let all
kinds of people in the country, illegal or not. (Ex. Mexican Border.) Why many
right wingers want to keep the borders tight and secured. I personally believe in
following our immigration laws and letting people immigrate legally. ( although
the process is too expensive and lengthy in my opinion.) I mean if we are just
going to let anyone in then what is so special about being an American? Where
does the pride go? Straight out the window. It’s either going to be globalization
and let anyone in or its going to be localization and make people do the
paperwork and apply to become a citizen.
5. MOST IMPORTANT AMENDMENT
• I could make an argument for a couple amendment's but if I had to choose one,
I’d be the first. The first amendment allows the American people to have free
speech and express what they are going through and what needs to be changed.
As long as the first amendment is here the government cant quiet the people,
they cant stop the people from uniting behind ideas. It allows freedom and
protection of the citizens.
6. LESSONS LEARNED
• I’ve learned many new things from this course. I’ve learned how the court systems
in the United States work through appeals and other things. I’ve also learned the
abilities between state and federal laws as well. I even learned new things about
the electoral college! These lessons will be very helpful through life.
