Theme or focus of images
All four of these images have been taken at Leeds Festival 2014; the photographer has taken
them whilst being in the crowd. These are promotional pictures for the artists themselves
playing live. In the first picture Macklemore is the main focus of the picture although a lot of his
surroundings have been captured in the shot to. Disclosure are on stage in the second photo,
it also shows all the equipment they use to make their music with lights shining down onto the
stage. The third is a bit different as the photographer has taken the picture from the back of
the crowd to show the entire crowd enjoy the artists playing. The last picture is Blink-182 they’re
also the main focus on the stage.
All the images have been took at the right moment to capture everything going on around
the artists playing, in the last photo the burst of flames make the it a lot more interesting to look
at. All the images are similar so this suggests the photographer uses the same technique when
taking pictures.
Composition
4. Kelsey Keighley
In these images it’s clear to see the photographer uses a similar technique when capturing an
image. They have been taken from a head on angle with the camera tilting up slightly to get
the lights and everything above the artist on the stage included in the image. If the
photographer would have stood further back he would have got a lot of the crowd within the
image. The elements in the photo do affect the message because the first two, and last
image show the images were to show live performances from the artists. As the third Image
shows the crowd enjoying it all.
Techniques used
A few techniques are used during the production of these images. The last three images are
quite dark tis mans the shutter speed will be set at a fast setting such as 1/500 – 1/1000s.
Although the first image is light, so for that picture the setting would probably be set around 1
– 1/60s. No depth of field has been used in any of these images.
Strengths & Weaknesses
I like these images because they show the artists performing and capture them all really well.
The strengths of them all are the colours that have been captured at the right moment and
the way the photographer has positioned the camera to get as much of the performance
within the image.
I don’t think there is really any major weakness with these image, the only thing I think could
have made them slightly better is to capture a small amount of the crowd enjoy the artists.
