Mississippi State's rival Ole Miss is destined to receive harsh sanctions by the NCAA soon, so we
wondered? How do teams respond to their rival receiving NCAA Sanctions? We go to Los Angeles
to get our first example of this trend as in 2010 the NCAA handed down harsh penalties to USC
including a bowl ban for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, 30 scholarship losses over three years, and
vacate all games Reggie Bush had played in after December of 2004. This included the 2005
National Championship USC had won in Miami Florida at the Orange Bowl. UCLA & USC The
two teams of LA USC and UCLA. Going into the 2010 season was coming off a win in the Eagle
Bank Bowl, and had been expected to do particularly well in the upcoming season, however, this ...

UCLA would go on to finish 10–3 in back–to–back seasons, which many would think is an average
to good season for UCLA. However, Los Angeles had been dominated by the Trojans and their
record from 1990–2009 is a clear example of that. USC played in 13 bowl games in 19 years not
counting the two games that were vacated. USC would also win eight conference championships in
this span of 19 years, also not counting the one they would vacate in 2005. USC would also go on to
win one national championship during that span but would have to vacate another from their 2004
season. UCLA, on the other hand, didn't experience the same level of success. The traditional
basketball powerhouse went to the same number of bowls before the sanctions were handed down
however they didn't receive much notoriety for their achievements as they only amassed three
conference championships, which all of them occurred from 1990–1995. The Bruins would also not
win a national championship like their inner–city rival did. We take a look at life after the sanctions
and this where the difference can truly be seen as UCLA would appear in two conference
championships as well as appear in 5 bowl games from 2010–2016. The Bruins also pitched two
10–3 seasons. However, the Trojans rebounded rather quickly from their sanctions as they appeared
in five bowl games, but would have been bowl eligible in every season during their sanctions,

Compare and Contrast of Promotional Campaigns Between Competing Sports Organizations
Objective
The objective of this study is to compare and contrast promotional campaigns of competing sports
organizations. This study will document incentivization tactics employed and how these tactics
differ. As well, this study will examine how the incentives are communicated to the consumer and
answer what is the ratio between price–based and non–price based incentives.
Introduction
For the purpose of this study the sports organizations chosen are those of Alabama college football
teams at the University of Auburn and the University of Alabama. These two teams are long–time
rivals in the Southeastern Conference and when the two play one another, it creates a great deal of
competition and excitement in the Southern states.
I. Auburn Tigers
A visit to the Auburn Tiger's website reveals many promotional campaigns including the 'Kids Club
Birthday Parties' which includes Birthday Party packages for all key sports at the University of
Auburn. Included are 10 event tickets, 10 shakers, 10 hotdogs and drinks, 1 autographed item, 1
cookie cake, the kids name on the scoreboard, and PA recognition. (Auburn University, 2013)
Another promotional campaign of the Auburn Tigers is reported on the University website to include
Tiger Sport Camp including sport camp for all major sports at the University of Auburn. The Auburn
fan is also able to subscribe to or download schedules directly from

Alabama Football History Essay
Alabama has had success in the there football program. Alabama has had some of the best coaches
in College football history like Bear Bryant (Hoes 7). They have also won 17 National
Championships (Heos 7). They have also had the best recruiting, for example they have drafted
legends like Ozzie Newsome and Joe Namath (Heos 25). Alabama has had some of the best coaches
in College football history like Bear Bryant (Hoes 7). Nick Saban is the head coach of Alabama.
Maisel stated, "None of them achieved what Alabama is achieving under Saban" (1). Not only has
Saban already brought a national title to 'Bama, but he's winning consistently, posting a 38–11
record so far (Heos 32). Considering that he's compiled that record in a conference ... Show more

Physical Environment Of Football
The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the activity that is being
held at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a stadium can affect the way
spectators view the game of football. The overall stadium experience a spectator may have depends
heavily on some of the physical aspects of the stadium's environment. If the experience is positive,
then the desire to visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative,
then more than likely the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The University
of Alabama does a great job at keeping their attendance up at their football games. While many
people seem to have an overall positive experience at the stadium, there are also some areas that
could be improved. There are over thirty–seven thousand students that attend The University of
Alabama. The college is well–known for its championship football team who reigns in the
Southeastern conference of every year. You can probably imagine the enormous population that is in
attendance at each football game. Winning championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans
coming. The physical aspects of the stadium are appealing enough to keep the fans coming as well.
Alabama does a great job at maintaining attendance, but because there are so many people I would
suggest them opening up more space for convenient parking. Almost every Saturday in the fall there
are thousands of people racing to

Coach Bear History
The entire state of Alabama thought "[Coach Bear] was wonderful," (Bragg). Coach Bear got his
nickname by wrestling a carnival bear when he was a boy, making Bear not only like a hero, but a
figure to look up to as well. Coach Bear was Alabama's head coach for a 25 year span, from 1958 to
1982. During that span, he led Alabama to 323 total game wins, including seven national
championships and 15 bowl wins. Not only was it just Tuscaloosa, Alabama that praised Bear, but it
was the whole state of Alabama itself. The entire state has record of families naming 350 children
after Coach Bear during his 25 year coaching span. Bear made it possible for anyone in Alabama to

Using the entire border of where the Appalachian boundaries expand to, colleges in these states have
the highest attendance average. This is proven by using the statistics given by The National
Collegiate Athletic Association on the average attendance in 2014 of the top 30 Division 1 FBS
teams' home games. Not being a shock, five of the top ten teams on this chart were from
Appalachian region states. Leading number one in attendance is The Ohio State University with an
average of 106,296 people, followed by the others being Pennsylvania State University (101,623),
University of Alabama (101,534), University of Tennessee (99,754), and University of Georgia
(92,746). These statistics, in particular prove my argument of college football shaping Appalachian
communities. By the statistics coming from home games means the home team fans and the away
team fans traveled to these Appalachian areas to experience a Division I college football game there.
Not only does that give exposure to the geographical area, but it gives people from around the
country the opportunity to see what the Appalachian community is like. The vibes that radiate
through the stadium and around the city offer an unexplainable experience. Without these statistics it
is hard to believe that Appalachian culture was shaped by college football. College football is an

Ncaa And Nfl : The Difference Essay
NCAA or NFL: The Difference is in the Rules
"It's the sport of Kings, better than diamond rings.....football.....football." (LL Cool J, 1986). All
across the country, football, both college and professional, has its own cult–like following. Fans of
both leagues eagerly anticipate kick–off whether it is on Saturday, for college football fans, or
Sunday, for professional football fans. An additional fix is available for college football fans on
Thursday. Professional fans get their extra dose on Monday nights. Admittedly, there are many
similarities among the National Collegiate Football Association (NCAA) and the National Football
League (NFL). Both have extremely loyal, boisterous, and diehard fans. Both play four quarters and
the players try their best to get the ball across the goal line. Although there are more similarities in
how the game is played, it is the differences that will have respective fans insisting one is better than
the other. Differences, such as the two–minute warning, the knee–down rule, and over time,
distinguish the professional from the collegiate player (See Table 1).
Two minutes before the end of the first quarter, a buzzer sounds. It is Saturday afternoon at Bryant–
Denny Stadium and the buzzer is basically ignored as the Crimson Tide players continue the game.
For collegiate players, the two minute warning is just an indication that the first or third quarter is
about to end. In the NFL, though, this same buzzer indicates a mandatory

Super Bowl System Analysis
In the summer of 2012, the NCAA announced that college football would be getting rid of the
previous postseason championship system, the BCS bowl system, and have a four–team playoff to
figure out who will be the next national champion. The BCS bowl system was a selection system
that had the two highest ranking teams, based off of rankings from the Associated Press (AP), face
off for the national championship. The new system involves a group of twelve people that decide
who the top four teams in Division I college football are, rather than the press deciding the rankings
solely based off of a team's record. Ultimately, this would determine who would compete in the
playoff games, and who would become the next national champion. Although this ... Show more

For example, in the middle of the 2015 season, the #2 ranked LSU Tigers went to Tuscaloosa,
Alabama to play the #4 ranked University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama beat LSU and LSU's
rank fell to #7. Only one loss, in this case to a top five program, shouldn't dictate if the losing team
makes the playoffs or not. Another instance, at the end of the 2014 season, is when the #6 ranked
Texas Christian University Horned Frogs didn't make the playoffs because of their sole loss of the
season, to the #5 ranked Baylor University Bears. In spite of these scenarios, The Ohio State
University Buckeyes lost to the unranked Virginia Tech Hokies and made the College Football
Playoffs, where they ultimately beat the #1 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, and the #2 seeded
Oregon Ducks en route to a National Championship (Heekin). Even just an expansion from four to
eight teams would increase the number of games from three to seven. Overall, adding more teams
into the playoffs creates more games and, therefore, more TV time and advertisements for

Should College Athletes Be Paid? Essay
Should College Athletes Be Paid?
There is an issue that continues to grow with college athletes; should college athletes should be
financially compensated? Many argue that college athletes are amateurs, and should not be paid, as
they receive compensation in the form of education. Others believe that these athletes produce large
revenue for their schools, and the athletic sponsoring body, and therefore should be paid for doing
so. There are many limitations on college athletes from the NCAA and from the school which they
play for. These athletes are strictly forbidden from receiving gifts, monetary compensation or
royalties for use of their likeness (Marx 474–75). The NCAA, an organization founded to control
violence in college sports, keeps these strong regulations as a way to reinforce that college sports are
ameteur sports . To allow college players to be financially compensated many things would have to
change, including the NCAA admitting that these are professional athletes. The NCAA would have
to change their regulations, and schools would have to determine a pay structure for these athletes.
This is a change that should occur, but with some stipulations.
One argument that is a driving force behind paying college athletes, is what is included in their
scholarship package. The average football scholarship falls about three–thousand dollars short of
what the student would be expected to pay for other necessary services while at college (Cohen).

Should College Athletes Be Paid? Essay
Imagine getting up at 6 a.m. for a morning working, going to class from about 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.,
having practice from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and then going to study tables for about two hours after
practice. This is just a typical day in the life of a college athlete. During the seasons they are putting
in upwards of 12 hours a day into their school work and sport, and have only a reduced tuition and
the pride of representing their university to show for it. College athletes are working full time jobs
and providing universities with billions of dollars, its time that these athletes should have the
opportunities they deserve. Whether that is to either go directly in professional sports, or be paid by
the NCAA. This topic is often brought up in the world of college sports and is continuing to pick up
steam as college athletics gain popularity. While these athletes do sign letters of intents stating that
they are still amateur athletes and must remain amateurs throughout their years of competing in
college, that it goes against our American belief that allows everybody a chance to pursue their
dreams. The system in place now requires these young athlete to sacrifice a year of their
professional careers to go to college and without any intentions of graduating with a degree.
According to Raymond Schneider, one of the main arguments against paying athletes is that recruits
will choose the big universities and that will completely eliminate the process of recruiting that has

Should Student Athletes Be Paid?
In the United States, college athletics are growing larger by the minute. College athletics contribute
not only to the recognition of colleges and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), it
also contributes to the income of colleges and the NCAA. Without student athletes, these colleges
and the NCAA would not reap the benefits of college athletics, such as: increased awareness of
colleges, higher application rates, and of course the revenue brought in from game and event tickets,
apparel, and contracts for licensing and television rights. Since the student athletes, who devote a
great deal of time to their sport, are the cog in the machine that is the NCAA and college athletics,
they deserve the fair and rightful compensation that they certainly do not currently receive. Here is
exactly why student athletes in the NCAA should be compensated for what they do for their
colleges, on and off the field of play. Students in college have to balance many activities: school,
friends, work, health, and everything in between. Being a student athlete adds a whole new
workload. Not only do student athletes have to balance class, studying, and homework, but they also
have workouts, meetings, events, games, and of course, practice. Not even mentioning a social life,
a student athlete 's daily schedule is already packed full. Typically, a student athlete wakes up, goes
to a workout that is followed by classes, then another workout, and finally time for studying and
homework.

Compare And Contrast Alabama Fan
Alabama Fans Vs. Auburn Fans
When living in Alabama, there are two major cities that everyone knows. Most people know these
two cities so well that they probably do not even know the state's very own capital city,
Montgomery. The two places are Tuscaloosa and Auburn, Alabama. These two cities are not just any
old Montgomery, Birmingham, or maybe even Phoenix. No, they are something bigger. Their
colleges are famous among Alabama residents. Any state that you visit, I'm sure a college rival is
larger than life itself, but for some people, it's their lifestyles. On the Eastern side of the state, there
are crimson and white flags waving. On the Western side of the state, there are orange and navy blue
flags being waving. When it comes down to their fans, the real MVPs or most valuable players are
the real winners. I am not an Auburn fan, so I do not know their traits, but I do know Alabama Fans'
characteristics.
Alabama Fans' love saying roll tide. There are exactly three–hundred and sixty–five days a year, and

Alabama is southeastern U.S. state that's home to significant landmarks from the American Civil

After, the Indian wars and removals of the early 19th century forced most Native Americans out of
the state, white settlers arrived in large numbers, bringing or importing African slaves in the
domestic trade. The state of Alabama used to have many plantation growing cash crops which relied
heavily on slaves. Tens of thousands of slaves were transported to and sold in the state by slave

declaring for the NFL draft, 1 junior and 5 seniors. If 5 players are chosen at random for the draft,
what is the probability that all 5 are seniors? The experiment consists of choosing 5 players from the
6 that are declared. The other 7 players are not declaring for the NFL draft. The number of elements
in the sample space, S, is C(13, 5). Because there are 6 players declaring, the number of ways of
picking all 5 seniors is C(6,5). So, the probability of the event, E, of choosing all 5 seniors is: P(E) =
(n(E))/(n(S)) = (C(6,5))/(C(13,5)) = 6/1287 = 0.005 The probability of the event E of picking all 5
seniors during the draft is 0.005. Application 2: probability of the complement of an event The
University of Alabama's football team has 12 defensive starters and 7 special teams starters. 4 of
those players are chosen at random to be game captains for the game versus Auburn. What is the
probability that at least one of those players selected to be a game captain is a part of special

College Football's Offseason Suspensions: Stop Making Fun of Georgia!
In college football's offseason, the news we hear is often that of arrests and suspensions
(unfortunately). There are probably a couple of good reasons for that:
1) Young men (especially those in exalted positions) are released from their grueling on–season
"captivity," as it were, and granted the freedom to get into every manner of shenanigans not even
contemplated when school, practice, coaches, and reporters are regularly in their way.
2) Since there is sparse college football news of any significance in the offseason, the easiest way
for an offseason college football player to make news is to get arrested.
Every year, the higher–profile schools garner more media attention for their suspensions (naturally,
because the national media do not care when the backup quarterback for Maranatha Baptist gets
arrested for punching his roommate over a video game mishap). As a consequence, members of the
college football community have often used Georgia as the offseason police–blotter punchline. We
think it might be time to bury that joke.

Definition Of Football Fanatics
"According to the results of a recent Adweek/ Harris Poll the name is accurate as almost two thirds
of U.S. adults say they currently watch NFL football (64%), including almost three quarters of men
(73%) and over half of women (55%)" ("No Surprise: 64% Of Americans Watch NFL Football; 73%
of Men, 55% of Women."). Over half of America watches NFL every weekend. Imagine how many
people watch college football. Many people tune in to watch football every weekend, but how many
of these people are football fanatics. If sports fans support the team from where they grew up, make
crazy decisions, never miss a game, and cheer them on even if the team is having a bad season, then
they are a football fanatic. Many people watch football to cheer on their favorite team. "Football is a
game played by two teams of eleven players using an oval ball. Players carry the ball in their hands
or throw it to each other as they try to score goals that are called touchdowns" ("Definition of
'Football'."). Football in America and fútbol are two different things. What they consider a fútbol
fanatic and how America considers a football fanatic is different. What exactly is a fanatic? "If you
say that someone is a fanatic, you mean that they are very enthusiastic about a particular activity,
sport, or way of life" ("Definition of 'Fanatic'."). People visualize different things when they hear the
word football fanatic. Some people go to a bar and drinking beer, while others sit at home and yell at

The Fiercest Rivalry In College Football In Birmingham,...
The Origins of the fiercest rivalry in all of college football began in Birmingham, Alabama in 1893.
At the time, Birmingham was known for its iron production, hence the college match–up was named
the "Iron Bowl," which comes from Birmingham's historic role in the steel industry. The teams met
in Birmingham's Lakeview Park, with Auburn (then the Agricultural and Mechanical College of
Alabama) winning 32–22. Both schools, Alabama and Auburn launched football programs in 1892,
Alabama considers this game to be the final one of that season, while Auburn considers it to be the
first of the 1893 season. Auburn won the very first game, which took place in February due to the
University's football schedule. The two teams met again in November of the same year, the

During the period from 1907 – 1948, both teams took a pause from playing each other. The two
schools stopped playing after the 1907 season because they could not agree on officiating crews and

come at a worse time. The Crimson Tide gave a 1–8–1 Tigers team their biggest beating of the series
and one of the greatest rivalries in college football was born.
We all know how much significance the Iron Bowl holds for those in the state of Alabama.
However, there hasn't quite been means to quantify the obvious importance.
Samford University's Sports Business Report looked to change this. Multiple individuals and
departments from the university completed an in–depth look at the rivalry using "big data."

Crimson Hoodie Narrative
I am sitting cross–legged in a worn, faded armchair as I clutch a grey elephant plush to my chest.
My attachment to the small stuffed toy clothed in a crimson hoodie was born through years of
superstition. I would grip the tiny thing for dear life as stress butterflies danced in my stomach;
warily observing the clash of titans on the TV screen surrounded by my family. We would scream
our throats raw and cheer until our ears rang painfully, but so urged into our reverie by the boys in
crimson and white scoring once again. Saturdays in the fall and winter are always overtaken by such
things in my home when the Crimson Tide play.

College Football Playoff Rankings Report
The latest version of the College Football Playoff rankings has been released. We're one week closer
the National Championship, and virtually nothing is any clearer than the previous weeks. The top
four teams in the rankings remained unchanged – Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan –
and most experts agree that Alabama is a virtual lock to stay at the top. The rest of the party,
especially the Big Ten representative (s), is very much up in the air. We'll skip past the Crimson
Tide, as they're expected to get past Auburn in the Iron Bowl this weekend and coast through the
SEC Championship game. Although, Auburn has won two Iron Bowls since 2010. Ohio State hosts
Michigan on Saturday in what could be a play–in game for a spot among the top four playoff teams.

By that time, we'll know the outcome of the Washington versus Washington State game. If these
scenarios play out, the new rankings would likely have Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and

football landscape becomes a game of "wait and see", halted until the championship games play out.
Of course, if Washington wins this weekend and Alabama, Clemson or Wisconsin loses, it could set
up mass chaos for the championship games on Dec 3. New teams could enter the fray, as Penn State
could still have a shot with a win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship. Meanwhile, the Big

minutes and 7 seconds left. Although I was nervous, I knew the Tigers would be able to pull
through. One big play of the drive was when Mike Williams made a leaping catch on a 24 yard pass
from Deshaun Watson to the Alabama 39 yard line. With 19 seconds left, Jordan Leggett lunged out
and made an amazing fingertip catch to the Alabama 9 yard line. After two failed attempts, Deshaun

The Cartel : Inside The Rise And Imminent Fall Of The Ncaa
In The Cartel: Inside the Rise and Imminent fall of the NCAA, Taylor Branch is piecing together
pieces of evidence and information about scandals that arose both the NCAA's perspective as well
as his own perspective to show contrast in the controversial findings within the NCAA concerning
athletes and leadership. Throughout the entirety of the book, the picture that is being painted by
Branch is that the NCAA as well as the institutions are reaping the benefits of intercollegiate
athletics. While the "big men" are reaping the benefits of the skill and hard work of the college
athletes. The information in Branch's work not only presents the documents of scandals, but also
presents his argument and proof for greed that is overtaking humanity, as well as athletics. The main
focus is on the underlying theme of greed. To start out this argument of ultimate injustice and unfair
power given to the universities of America and the NCAA, Branch started out the first chapter with
a well documented explanation of how or why the academic mission of a quality education are being
abandoned in multiple institutions because of pure greed. The first of many example that Branch
gives for his argument is the abandonment of the academic mission that each university must holds.

Allocating College Athletic Programs
In the state of Oklahoma, there have been multiple revenue failures since the beginning of the year
and nearly every public school has been forced to deal with mid–year funding cuts. In the face of all
this lost revenue, is it a reasonable solution to eliminate athletics as a cost–saving measure? This
financial issue is something that not only effects current students, but future students as well.
Although there is a lot of disagreement surrounding whether or not colleges should keep athletic
programs, both college athletic enthusiasts and advocates for eliminating college athletics can agree
on wanting what is best for the colleges and the students, and therefore, keeping athletic programs in
college while allocating 50% of their revenue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article "Is College Football Profitable for Universities" by Ben Mangrum, he states in regards
to the University of Florida football program, "The muddled–perhaps diluted–contribution of
revenue from football is particularly dubious when athletics received a $2 million dollar increase in
their budget at the same time as the University eliminated its Computer Science Program in 2012 to
save $1.4 million" (Mangrum). This is a prime example of how funds could be better allocated to
benefit academics, rather than athletics. In this case, it is obvious that a compromise could have
been made. Funds were essential for the computer science program, but were instead given to the
football program. In the article "The Importance of College Athletic Programs to Universities",
Linda Emma shows, "The University of Alabama athletic department raked in nearly $124 million,
thanks in large part to the storied Crimson Tide football program" (Emma). The large sum of
revenue brought in by athletic programs could make a tremendous difference at any school if
allocated the right way to benefit both academics and athletics. If the compromise to split the
revenue 50/50 was made, it could make improvements across all parts of schools. The compromise
of giving academics and other programs 50 percent of all

My earliest memories are growing up in the state of Alabama surrounded by my loving family.
Alabama was and still is my home, where I was raised since the age of two to become the person I
am today. At the age of twelve, circumstances made me move back to San Benito, Texas where my
mom grew up. Even though my teenage years have been spent here, I have always dreamt of
returning to Alabama. Leaving behind friends, family, and the familiarity of home was a difficult
transition that I had to make and it still is hard to adjust. As the choice of deciding where I want to
go to college grows drastically closer, my mind and heart are pulling me to the University of
Alabama. Living there since we had no NFL ( National Football League) team we were focused on
our two college football teams, one being the University of Alabama and the other being Auburn

currently lives I want to go there. Alabama University "is a large, 4–year, public university. This

Gfc Case Study

  • 1. Gfc Case Study Mississippi State's rival Ole Miss is destined to receive harsh sanctions by the NCAA soon, so we wondered? How do teams respond to their rival receiving NCAA Sanctions? We go to Los Angeles to get our first example of this trend as in 2010 the NCAA handed down harsh penalties to USC including a bowl ban for the 2010 and 2011 seasons, 30 scholarship losses over three years, and vacate all games Reggie Bush had played in after December of 2004. This included the 2005 National Championship USC had won in Miami Florida at the Orange Bowl. UCLA & USC The two teams of LA USC and UCLA. Going into the 2010 season was coming off a win in the Eagle Bank Bowl, and had been expected to do particularly well in the upcoming season, however, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... UCLA would go on to finish 10–3 in back–to–back seasons, which many would think is an average to good season for UCLA. However, Los Angeles had been dominated by the Trojans and their record from 1990–2009 is a clear example of that. USC played in 13 bowl games in 19 years not counting the two games that were vacated. USC would also win eight conference championships in this span of 19 years, also not counting the one they would vacate in 2005. USC would also go on to win one national championship during that span but would have to vacate another from their 2004 season. UCLA, on the other hand, didn't experience the same level of success. The traditional basketball powerhouse went to the same number of bowls before the sanctions were handed down however they didn't receive much notoriety for their achievements as they only amassed three conference championships, which all of them occurred from 1990–1995. The Bruins would also not win a national championship like their inner–city rival did. We take a look at life after the sanctions and this where the difference can truly be seen as UCLA would appear in two conference championships as well as appear in 5 bowl games from 2010–2016. The Bruins also pitched two 10–3 seasons. However, the Trojans rebounded rather quickly from their sanctions as they appeared in five bowl games, but would have been bowl eligible in every season during their sanctions, ... • 3. AlA Comparative Analysis of Promotional Campaigns between... Compare and Contrast of Promotional Campaigns Between Competing Sports Organizations Objective The objective of this study is to compare and contrast promotional campaigns of competing sports organizations. This study will document incentivization tactics employed and how these tactics differ. As well, this study will examine how the incentives are communicated to the consumer and answer what is the ratio between price–based and non–price based incentives. Introduction For the purpose of this study the sports organizations chosen are those of Alabama college football teams at the University of Auburn and the University of Alabama. These two teams are long–time rivals in the Southeastern Conference and when the two play one another, it creates a great deal of competition and excitement in the Southern states. I. Auburn Tigers A visit to the Auburn Tiger's website reveals many promotional campaigns including the 'Kids Club Birthday Parties' which includes Birthday Party packages for all key sports at the University of Auburn. Included are 10 event tickets, 10 shakers, 10 hotdogs and drinks, 1 autographed item, 1 cookie cake, the kids name on the scoreboard, and PA recognition. (Auburn University, 2013) Another promotional campaign of the Auburn Tigers is reported on the University website to include Tiger Sport Camp including sport camp for all major sports at the University of Auburn. • 5. Alabama Football History Essay Alabama has had success in the there football program. Alabama has had some of the best coaches in College football history like Bear Bryant (Hoes 7). They have also won 17 National Championships (Heos 7). They have also had the best recruiting, for example they have drafted legends like Ozzie Newsome and Joe Namath (Heos 25). Alabama has had some of the best coaches in College football history like Bear Bryant (Hoes 7). Nick Saban is the head coach of Alabama. Maisel stated, "None of them achieved what Alabama is achieving under Saban" (1). Not only has Saban already brought a national title to 'Bama, but he's winning consistently, posting a 38–11 record so far (Heos 32). Considering that he's compiled that record in a conference ... The reason most of these top players they getting to go to their school is because look at how they have had. They have won the most Championships and some of the best coaches (Maisel p.1). • 7. Physical Environment Of Football The physical environment of an event can affect the way spectators view the activity that is being held at an event. In this instance, the physical environment of a stadium can affect the way spectators view the game of football. The overall stadium experience a spectator may have depends heavily on some of the physical aspects of the stadium's environment. If the experience is positive, then the desire to visit the stadium again will be more likely. If the overall experience is negative, then more than likely the spectator will not return. In my research, I have found that The University of Alabama does a great job at keeping their attendance up at their football games. While many people seem to have an overall positive experience at the stadium, there are also some areas that could be improved. There are over thirty–seven thousand students that attend The University of Alabama. The college is well–known for its championship football team who reigns in the Southeastern conference of every year. You can probably imagine the enormous population that is in attendance at each football game. Winning championships is not the only thing that keeps the fans coming. The physical aspects of the stadium are appealing enough to keep the fans coming as well. Alabama does a great job at maintaining attendance, but because there are so many people I would suggest them opening up more space for convenient parking. Almost every Saturday in the fall there are thousands of people racing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Coach Bear History The entire state of Alabama thought "[Coach Bear] was wonderful," (Bragg). Coach Bear got his nickname by wrestling a carnival bear when he was a boy, making Bear not only like a hero, but a figure to look up to as well. Coach Bear was Alabama's head coach for a 25 year span, from 1958 to 1982. During that span, he led Alabama to 323 total game wins, including seven national championships and 15 bowl wins. Not only was it just Tuscaloosa, Alabama that praised Bear, but it was the whole state of Alabama itself. The entire state has record of families naming 350 children after Coach Bear during his 25 year coaching span. Bear made it possible for anyone in Alabama to "...be proud of being from here, no matter where you went." His ability to create ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Using the entire border of where the Appalachian boundaries expand to, colleges in these states have the highest attendance average. This is proven by using the statistics given by The National Collegiate Athletic Association on the average attendance in 2014 of the top 30 Division 1 FBS teams' home games. Not being a shock, five of the top ten teams on this chart were from Appalachian region states. Leading number one in attendance is The Ohio State University with an average of 106,296 people, followed by the others being Pennsylvania State University (101,623), University of Alabama (101,534), University of Tennessee (99,754), and University of Georgia (92,746). These statistics, in particular prove my argument of college football shaping Appalachian communities. By the statistics coming from home games means the home team fans and the away team fans traveled to these Appalachian areas to experience a Division I college football game there. Not only does that give exposure to the geographical area, but it gives people from around the country the opportunity to see what the Appalachian community is like. The vibes that radiate through the stadium and around the city offer an unexplainable experience. Without these statistics it is hard to believe that Appalachian culture was shaped by college football. College football is an immense and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Ncaa And Nfl : The Difference Essay NCAA or NFL: The Difference is in the Rules "It's the sport of Kings, better than diamond rings.....football.....football." (LL Cool J, 1986). All across the country, football, both college and professional, has its own cult–like following. Fans of both leagues eagerly anticipate kick–off whether it is on Saturday, for college football fans, or Sunday, for professional football fans. An additional fix is available for college football fans on Thursday. Professional fans get their extra dose on Monday nights. Admittedly, there are many similarities among the National Collegiate Football Association (NCAA) and the National Football League (NFL). Both have extremely loyal, boisterous, and diehard fans. Both play four quarters and the players try their best to get the ball across the goal line. Although there are more similarities in how the game is played, it is the differences that will have respective fans insisting one is better than the other. Differences, such as the two–minute warning, the knee–down rule, and over time, distinguish the professional from the collegiate player (See Table 1). Two minutes before the end of the first quarter, a buzzer sounds. It is Saturday afternoon at Bryant– Denny Stadium and the buzzer is basically ignored as the Crimson Tide players continue the game. For collegiate players, the two minute warning is just an indication that the first or third quarter is about to end. In the NFL, though, this same buzzer indicates a mandatory ... • 13. Super Bowl System Analysis In the summer of 2012, the NCAA announced that college football would be getting rid of the previous postseason championship system, the BCS bowl system, and have a four–team playoff to figure out who will be the next national champion. The BCS bowl system was a selection system that had the two highest ranking teams, based off of rankings from the Associated Press (AP), face off for the national championship. The new system involves a group of twelve people that decide who the top four teams in Division I college football are, rather than the press deciding the rankings solely based off of a team's record. Ultimately, this would determine who would compete in the playoff games, and who would become the next national champion. Although this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in the middle of the 2015 season, the #2 ranked LSU Tigers went to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to play the #4 ranked University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama beat LSU and LSU's rank fell to #7. Only one loss, in this case to a top five program, shouldn't dictate if the losing team makes the playoffs or not. Another instance, at the end of the 2014 season, is when the #6 ranked Texas Christian University Horned Frogs didn't make the playoffs because of their sole loss of the season, to the #5 ranked Baylor University Bears. In spite of these scenarios, The Ohio State University Buckeyes lost to the unranked Virginia Tech Hokies and made the College Football Playoffs, where they ultimately beat the #1 seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, and the #2 seeded Oregon Ducks en route to a National Championship (Heekin). Even just an expansion from four to eight teams would increase the number of games from three to seven. Overall, adding more teams into the playoffs creates more games and, therefore, more TV time and advertisements for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Should College Athletes Be Paid? Essay Should College Athletes Be Paid? There is an issue that continues to grow with college athletes; should college athletes should be financially compensated? Many argue that college athletes are amateurs, and should not be paid, as they receive compensation in the form of education. Others believe that these athletes produce large revenue for their schools, and the athletic sponsoring body, and therefore should be paid for doing so. There are many limitations on college athletes from the NCAA and from the school which they play for. These athletes are strictly forbidden from receiving gifts, monetary compensation or royalties for use of their likeness (Marx 474–75). The NCAA, an organization founded to control violence in college sports, keeps these strong regulations as a way to reinforce that college sports are ameteur sports . To allow college players to be financially compensated many things would have to change, including the NCAA admitting that these are professional athletes. The NCAA would have to change their regulations, and schools would have to determine a pay structure for these athletes. This is a change that should occur, but with some stipulations. One argument that is a driving force behind paying college athletes, is what is included in their scholarship package. The average football scholarship falls about three–thousand dollars short of what the student would be expected to pay for other necessary services while at college (Cohen). While some ... • 17. Should College Athletes Be Paid? Essay Imagine getting up at 6 a.m. for a morning working, going to class from about 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., having practice from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and then going to study tables for about two hours after practice. This is just a typical day in the life of a college athlete. During the seasons they are putting in upwards of 12 hours a day into their school work and sport, and have only a reduced tuition and the pride of representing their university to show for it. College athletes are working full time jobs and providing universities with billions of dollars, its time that these athletes should have the opportunities they deserve. Whether that is to either go directly in professional sports, or be paid by the NCAA. This topic is often brought up in the world of college sports and is continuing to pick up steam as college athletics gain popularity. While these athletes do sign letters of intents stating that they are still amateur athletes and must remain amateurs throughout their years of competing in college, that it goes against our American belief that allows everybody a chance to pursue their dreams. The system in place now requires these young athlete to sacrifice a year of their professional careers to go to college and without any intentions of graduating with a degree. According to Raymond Schneider, one of the main arguments against paying athletes is that recruits will choose the big universities and that will completely eliminate the process of recruiting that has ... • 19. Should Student Athletes Be Paid? In the United States, college athletics are growing larger by the minute. College athletics contribute not only to the recognition of colleges and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), it also contributes to the income of colleges and the NCAA. Without student athletes, these colleges and the NCAA would not reap the benefits of college athletics, such as: increased awareness of colleges, higher application rates, and of course the revenue brought in from game and event tickets, apparel, and contracts for licensing and television rights. Since the student athletes, who devote a great deal of time to their sport, are the cog in the machine that is the NCAA and college athletics, they deserve the fair and rightful compensation that they certainly do not currently receive. Here is exactly why student athletes in the NCAA should be compensated for what they do for their colleges, on and off the field of play. Students in college have to balance many activities: school, friends, work, health, and everything in between. Being a student athlete adds a whole new workload. Not only do student athletes have to balance class, studying, and homework, but they also have workouts, meetings, events, games, and of course, practice. Not even mentioning a social life, a student athlete 's daily schedule is already packed full. Typically, a student athlete wakes up, goes to a workout that is followed by classes, then another workout, and finally time for studying and homework. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Compare And Contrast Alabama Fan Alabama Fans Vs. Auburn Fans When living in Alabama, there are two major cities that everyone knows. Most people know these two cities so well that they probably do not even know the state's very own capital city, Montgomery. The two places are Tuscaloosa and Auburn, Alabama. These two cities are not just any old Montgomery, Birmingham, or maybe even Phoenix. No, they are something bigger. Their colleges are famous among Alabama residents. The athletic department posted a $21.2 million surplus in 2013, a number which has only gone up since then (Solomon). This money then goes back into the university to finance the creation of new buildings or events. In the university's 2016 financial report, a few of the many improvements the university is actively making to the campus were listed. North Lawn Hall, which includes a total of 12 classrooms and 1,919 seats, is listed on the report, costing $21.7 million to build (Studebaker). Also listed are the $9.7 million worth of renovations done to the Moody Music Building, which was expanded to create a new area for the Million Dollar Band. As both a member of the band and an avid attendee of classes in North Lawn Hall, I'm personally benefitting from both financial ventures the university has taken. Application 1: The probability of an event The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has 13 offensive players that are starters. 6 of those players are declaring for the NFL draft, 1 junior and 5 seniors. If 5 players are chosen at random for the draft, what is the probability that all 5 are seniors? The experiment consists of choosing 5 players from the 6 that are declared. The other 7 players are not declaring for the NFL draft. The number of elements in the sample space, S, is C(13, 5). Because there are 6 players declaring, the number of ways of picking all 5 seniors is C(6,5). So, the probability of the event, E, of choosing all 5 seniors is: P(E) = (n(E))/(n(S)) = (C(6,5))/(C(13,5)) = 6/1287 = 0.005 The probability of the event E of picking all 5 seniors during the draft is 0.005. In college football's offseason, the news we hear is often that of arrests and suspensions (unfortunately). There are probably a couple of good reasons for that: 1) Young men (especially those in exalted positions) are released from their grueling on–season "captivity," as it were, and granted the freedom to get into every manner of shenanigans not even contemplated when school, practice, coaches, and reporters are regularly in their way. 2) Since there is sparse college football news of any significance in the offseason, the easiest way for an offseason college football player to make news is to get arrested. Every year, the higher–profile schools garner more media attention for their suspensions (naturally, because the national media do not care when the backup quarterback for Maranatha Baptist gets arrested for punching his roommate over a video game mishap). The Cartel : Inside The Rise And Imminent Fall Of The Ncaa In The Cartel: Inside the Rise and Imminent fall of the NCAA, Taylor Branch is piecing together pieces of evidence and information about scandals that arose both the NCAA's perspective as well as his own perspective to show contrast in the controversial findings within the NCAA concerning athletes and leadership. Throughout the entirety of the book, the picture that is being painted by Branch is that the NCAA as well as the institutions are reaping the benefits of intercollegiate athletics. While the "big men" are reaping the benefits of the skill and hard work of the college athletes. The information in Branch's work not only presents the documents of scandals, but also presents his argument and proof for greed that is overtaking humanity, as well as athletics. The main focus is on the underlying theme of greed. To start out this argument of ultimate injustice and unfair power given to the universities of America and the NCAA, Branch started out the first chapter with a well documented explanation of how or why the academic mission of a quality education are being abandoned in multiple institutions because of pure greed. The first of many example that Branch gives for his argument is the abandonment of the academic mission that each university must holds. • 72. Allocating College Athletic Programs In the state of Oklahoma, there have been multiple revenue failures since the beginning of the year and nearly every public school has been forced to deal with mid–year funding cuts. In the face of all this lost revenue, is it a reasonable solution to eliminate athletics as a cost–saving measure? This financial issue is something that not only effects current students, but future students as well. Although there is a lot of disagreement surrounding whether or not colleges should keep athletic programs, both college athletic enthusiasts and advocates for eliminating college athletics can agree on wanting what is best for the colleges and the students, and therefore, keeping athletic programs in college while allocating 50% of their revenue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the article "Is College Football Profitable for Universities" by Ben Mangrum, he states in regards to the University of Florida football program, "The muddled–perhaps diluted–contribution of revenue from football is particularly dubious when athletics received a $2 million dollar increase in their budget at the same time as the University eliminated its Computer Science Program in 2012 to save $1.4 million" (Mangrum). This is a prime example of how funds could be better allocated to benefit academics, rather than athletics. In this case, it is obvious that a compromise could have been made. Funds were essential for the computer science program, but were instead given to the football program. In the article "The Importance of College Athletic Programs to Universities", Linda Emma shows, "The University of Alabama athletic department raked in nearly $124 million, thanks in large part to the storied Crimson Tide football program" (Emma). The large sum of revenue brought in by athletic programs could make a tremendous difference at any school if allocated the right way to benefit both academics and athletics. If the compromise to split the revenue 50/50 was made, it could make improvements across all parts of schools. The compromise of giving academics and other programs 50 percent of all ... • 74. Roll Tide Pride : Roll Tide Pride "Roll Tide Pride" My earliest memories are growing up in the state of Alabama surrounded by my loving family. Alabama was and still is my home, where I was raised since the age of two to become the person I am today. At the age of twelve, circumstances made me move back to San Benito, Texas where my mom grew up. Even though my teenage years have been spent here, I have always dreamt of returning to Alabama. Leaving behind friends, family, and the familiarity of home was a difficult transition that I had to make and it still is hard to adjust. As the choice of deciding where I want to go to college grows drastically closer, my mind and heart are pulling me to the University of Alabama. Living there since we had no NFL ( National Football League) team we were focused on our two college football teams, one being the University of Alabama and the other being Auburn University. My family was always rooting for alabama while I was going for Auburn and still till this day too, but since the University of alabama is closer to my hometown where my family currently lives I want to go there. Alabama University "is a large, 4–year, public university. This college is located in a small city in a suburban setting and is primarily a residential campus. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees," (College Board). The University of Alabama is actually known for it's football, famous facilities, impressive academics and their unique traditions. For like every high school or college ... A documentary which aired on the EPIX channel entitled "Schooled: The Price of College Sports", shows the evolution of college athletics and how it became what it is now. With the creation of the term "student athletes" in the 1950s by Walter Bayers, student athletes were forced to give their labor for the sake of the NCAA. The term, as expressed by some of the interviewers in the documentary, is an evil term because it allowed universities and colleges to stand behind the term and neglect the student athletes. As the NCAA and the universities start to amass insane amount of revenue from the sweats of these said student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The NCAA seems to be more content of levying fines and punishment for college misconduct than taking care of the players. Saying that college players are students is no longer acceptable because the fact of the matter is they are much more than that. In an article by Steve Berkowitz for USA Today, he reported that the NCAA had a total revenue of almost $1 billion, that's according to their financial statement for the 2014 year and he goes on by pointing out that it's an $80.5 million surplus for the year (Berkowitz) which by all means is an outstanding number when considering the machine that generate those types of revenue has no right to any of it. The NCAA limit each institution on the amount of scholarship they can give out, the highest number of scholarships goes to the discipline that generates the most revenue (O 'Shaughnessy) not where the kids are guaranteed a better life after college.
