Kayleigh is creating a TV advertisement for Daz washing tablets to target a younger audience aged 19-28 of both genders. She will use humor and satire, featuring Jesus, to promote the product in a memorable way. Her research found this audience values education and cost efficiency. She plans to air the ad during shows like Hollyoaks on Channel 4 after 9pm to reach this target demographic. The ad will use slogans and exaggerated claims to suggest the product is widely used and very effective.
2. I have decided to advertise a new washing tablet for ‘Daz’, which is
an existing product.
I will be making a TV advert to promote this product. I will be using
satire comedy and a unique selling point to promote the product. I
will be using Jesus as my main selling point, as it create humour
within the advert, and ensures the advert ill be memorable, as Jesus
is a memorable figure.
3. As Daz is an existing product, it already has a target audience, this being primarily women
aged 18-40. This is a very broad audience range, and as Daz is quite an old brand, I have
decided to target this advert to a different audience, to sort of reinvent the brand image. I want
to target the product to a niche audience.
Looking at my audience research survey, it is evident that this advert would appeal more to a
younger audience, of both genders, typically between the ages of 19-28. Both genders were in
favour of using humour in an advert, so I will not use any gender stereotypes, in order to appeal
to both. The target audience will belong to the economic group E-C2, and their psychographics
would include, valuing education, being cost efficient and enjoy more practical work rather than
academic.

2 women asked
how many do their own laundry? - 2/2

how many use this because it is cheap? - 2/2
Young Male Audience

how many use this because it is cheap? - 1/3
Older Female Audience
3 women asked
how many do their own laundry? - 3/3
how many use one specific brands? - 2/3
how many use this because it is cheap? - 0/3
how many would consider changing brands? - 1/3
Older Male Audience
2 men asked
how many do their own laundry? - 1/2
how many use one specific brands? - 0/2
how many use this because it is cheap? - 1/2
4. In my advert I will use the ‘bandwagon appeal’. I plan to use slogans
to promote the idea that this is the best washing tablet and everyone
is using it. I will also use weasel words, to highlight how good my
product is. In addition, I will also be using humour in my advert, as
it will appeal more to my chosen target audience.
I have chosen to use Jesus as my main selling point, to give the
washing tablets a humorous effect, and as Jesus is a well known
figure, increasing the possibility of my advert being more
memorable.
5. I am creating a TV advert, so will have to advertise it at a specific time on certain channels,
in order for my target audience to see it.
Since my target audience are young people, I will place my advert on channels that have a
primarily young adult audience, before shows that they would typically watch. For
example, I could place my advert on channel 4, during the ad breaks of the show
‘Hollyoaks’.
I could also place my advert to be shown at a later time (possibly after the watershed 9
o’clock). My advert uses humour that some people might not understand, so by placing my
advert at a later time means that the people most likely to watch it will understand it. At
this time, more controversial shows are on too, with the same target audience as mine,
such as shows like ‘naked attraction’ and ‘big brother’.
6. –.
Age – 20
Name - Mia
Occupation – full time student.
Would probably study something
creative like media or drama.
Interests/Hobbies – spending time
with friends, spending time outside
(going to places like central London or
going shopping)
Ideologies – values education (they're a
full time student), not religious, very open-
minded person
Social class – E-C2. They are a student and do not
have a high disposable income.
Psychographics – they are very cost efficient – use
products that are relatively cheap. They prefer
practical work, as they study a creative subject.
Gender & Ethnicity – my target audience has a wide demographic –
both genders are targeted as well as all ethnicities. However, it'll
most likely be white, unreligious people that are targeted, as the
advert can be interpreted as being offensive towards religion.
