The Schopenhauer Cure
The Schopenhauer Cure Alyssa K. Engblom Winona State University In the book The Schopenhauer
Cure, Yalom portrays a group therapist, Julius, who uses a variety of group facilitation techniques in
order for the group to be run effectively. The first technique Julius uses in the group is to switch the
focus from content to process. "Julius intervened by using the group therapist's most common and
most effective tactic–he switched the focus from the content to the process, that is, away from the
words being spoken to the nature of the relationship of the interacting parties" (Yalom, 2005, p.
132). During this scenario, Bonnie is feeling insecure about herself and confronts Rebecca about
"preening" for the men in the group. Phillip is still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advice may not have helped them extensively, but at least he was trying to contribute. Philip
also challenged the other members of the group as well as Julius. His personality was not very
inviting, but this forced the others (and Julius) to try harder to understand him and what made him
tick. When Pam returns to the group from her retreat, the mood immediately becomes darker when
she sees Philip in her "cozy" group. She does not feel comfortable having him in the group because
he had caused her so much pain in the past. Julius found it hard to find "forgiveness" for Philip, but
he tried to identify with him to try to understand why he would have done the things he did. Tony
sided with Pam and questioned some of Philip's statements, whereas Rebecca defended Philip
against Tony's "attacks". Stuart also seemed to protect Philip against Tony's attacks. He reminded
Tony that he hadn't seemed sorry for his sexual assault charges in the past. At the end of this
confrontational chapter, Pam behaved towards Philip as if he were invisible. Farther on into the "role
changes", Pam revealed that she felt defiled that Philip was a part of her group. He was also, in a
way, taking away her role as the intellectual of the group. In order to handle these various changes,
Julius tries to understand where each person is coming from, whether it is Pam, Philip, Tony, etc.
Additionally, he made sure that each group member voiced what

Informative Essay: The Office Television Show
Television is a wonderful window on the world. It appears as an excellent opportunity for citizens to
be entertained when they have free time on their hands. Several genres are available including
comedy, action, and many more. There are a variety of shows available worldwide, yet The Office is
an extremely popular television series that could possibly be the show of the century. The show
holds an outstanding amount of awards, including the best television series in 2006 and 2008. The
Office is a mockumentary about the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. This
television series consists of nine seasons with about twenty episodes in each season. The show
contains several immature office workers who behave inappropriately with ego clashes. The Office
is the most outstanding comedy of this generation because of its use of humor, characters, and plot.
One element that makes The Office an excellent television show is the use of humor. The show's
humor may be described as dry and sarcastic. The characters are not attempting to be funny,
nevertheless, they are extremely immature; therefore, the language the workers use may seem
hilarious. About three–fourths of the employees in the company can be described as strange and
unusual, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The television show stands to be viewed as if it was filmed on a handheld camera. The show has the
tendency to be extremely awkward and people who do not take the time to watch a full episode will
anticipate that the show may be identified as dull and a waste of time. One would feel that the show
may be simple with no plot or meaning. However, after watching an entire episode, one will realize
that a complex plot is not necessary to enjoy the show because of the awkward and entertaining
relationships between the characters. Although, there are several plot twists that may catch the

Esperanza Rising Short Story
Mexican immigrants in the United States faced difficult challenges daily such as discrimination,
lower wages, and hatred. The book Esperanza Rising is by American writer Pam Munoz Ryan.
Esperanza is a Mexican girl at the age of thirteen, and she had to leave her home in Mexico to come
to the United States as an immigrant. She had to leave because of her greedy uncles. Even though
Esperanza's life was full of challenges, as an immigrant the harshest challenges were not knowing
how to do daily chores, having to go work in the sheds to pay mama´s medical bill, and facing
discrimination due to her skin tone. The fact that Esperanza did not know how to do daily chores
because she always had servants, shows her harsh new life as an immigrant. The first challenge
Esperanza faced was not knowing how to sweep the platform. Esperanza had to sweep the platform
to lower the rent her family paid for the house. She did not come from a family that did their chores
they always had servants, therefore she never had to learn how to sweep. She got made fun of by
Marta a striker when she tried to sweep the platform. On page 116 and 117 is states that, ¨In her
entire life, Esperanza had never held a broom in her hand... A group of women were pointing and
laughing at her. And in the middle of them was Marta, pointing.¨ Esperanza ran home and Miguel
taught Esperanza how to sweep as stated on page 118, ¨ `How would you know how to sweep a
floor? The only thing that you learned was how to give

Consequences Of Esperanza Rising
Many people who have read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan believe that Esperanza and her
mother should have stayed in Mexico, but in my opinion, I believe that they were right to leave for
California. If they stayed, they would have had to face several consequences, one being having to
live with Esperanza's uncle, despicable Tio Luis. At the same time, when they went to California,
they did not have to leave everything behind, it was a choice they made. After all, as Esperanza
herself said in the book, "Do not ever be afraid to start over." (p. 253)
Esperanza and her mother made the choice to leave Mexico and go to California to work and escape
Tio Luis, which I believe to be a good decision. Before going, Esperanza was spoiled, rich, and
quite full of herself, living in a high social class family, and in general thought of herself better than
others. At first, she was against leaving everything she knew and loved, but in the end, found herself
liking California. Esperanza made new friends, in particular, Isabel, who taught her many things,
even though she was younger. She taught her how to appreciate what she had, and how to get a job
done. She taught her how to deal with the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people do choose to stay in their home country, for various reasons, but others, such as
Esperanza and her mother, choose to leave one place for another, the same way many Syrians are
immigrating to Germany. In other words, while several stay, several leave as well, and it is therefore
up to those said people to decide. A point often overlooked, though, when all of the numbers are in
the air, it is very easy to forget that these are people, not just statistics. As said in Pam Munoz Ryan's
book, Esperanza Rising, "There is no rose without thorns." This represents that, despite the
peremptory positive effects, there is nothing without flaws and no life without

Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Munoz Rising
The book Esperanza Rising, by Pam Munoz Ryan, gives readers a reason to never be afraid of
starting over. The main character named Esperanza, is faced with several challenging situations as a
young girl. These challenging events are life changing at times, which forces her to make adult
decisions at young age. The life Esperanza is forced to live is unfortunately a reality to many
Mexican families that made the move to the United States in search of the American Dream. Events
faced by Esperanza's family alongside workers of the El Rancho de las Rosas, which Esperanza's
family owned, forces Esperanza to change into a mature young teenage female. Munoz Ryan shows
Esperanza's character change by challenges she is faced with. The outcome of these events show
growth within her young life by the emotions Esperanza expresses. Throughout the book Munoz
Ryan uses symbolism to show growth and change within all characters. However; it is obvious to
see the symbolic aspects the author provides related to Esperanza's changes. The author faces
Esperanza with different events to help remind her of a once wealthy life along with her current
immigrant life style. As a whole many factors influence Esperanza's change. In the onset of
Esperanza Rising, Esperanza is a wealthy, spoiled and dependent eight year old child, due to life
changing events, she matures into an independent and mature teenage female. Esperanza is faced
with several major events that forces her to mature at a young age. In these events readers can see
how she grows as her emotions change. In the beginning of the book, Esperanza's father passes
away (p. 22) and their family home on the ranch, El Rancho de las Rosas, catches on fire (p.40).
This is the beginning of Esperanza's quickly changed young life. As a young girl she realizes life
will never be the same. She once was wealthy and lived life with the help of housekeepers. Papa
also had field workers to help with his needs on the farm. Raised with a positive perspective on life,
her hopes and dreams are soon challenged. Esperanza is forced to leave everything she has ever
known to move to the United States. The fire is symbolic because the family is forced start all over,
in life, along with her social

Without an effective PR, it is very difficult to reach the attention of the target audience and much
less to influence their opinion and decisions. A celebrity publicist should also be Internet savvy. To
be effective PR professional must be knowledgeable on how to work with internet providers to
remove false, or defaming headlines removed from the search engine. Publicists also have to know
when to remove a celebrity's photo from a website if it is violating copyright, or how to deal with a
celebrity being misquoted by the media. Also, social media networks are utilized by a PR specialists
to establish a direct communication with the public, and other powerful members of the
entertainment industry. Being a publicist for a celebrity is more than just correcting internet errors. It
is mandatory that PR agents manage a celebrity's online image. Most celebrities have numerous

The Office Moral
The American version of The Office debuted in 2005 with the start of its six–episode first season.
After the airing of the "Pilot" episode, a reviewer from the Deseret Morning News commented,
"Maybe [...] after The Office dies a quick death on NBC, the network will decide that trying to
Americanize British TV comedies isn't such a great idea" (quoted in Pilot (The Office)). Despite its
original negative reception, The Office went on to run nine successful seasons and has become a
television favorite of individuals across America. The show focuses on the misadventures of the lost
souls employed at Dunder–Mifflin Scranton, a branch of a paper–selling company located in
Pennsylvania. Under the management of clueless Michael Scott, characters ... Show more content on

After interviewing several possible suspects, Dwight arranges for the entire office to be drug tested.
Unfortunately for Dwight, the culprit turns out to be his manager, Michael, whom Dwight is very
loyal to. In order to pass the drug test, Michael begs Dwight to donate some of his urine to him, and
Dwight complies. When both Dwight and Michael make it safely out of the screening, Michael has
no response from his conscience, while Dwight's moral code forces him to resign from his post as a
volunteer sheriff after he breaks his oath to the police station by tampering with the test results.
Dwight's extreme moral code is displayed in this episode through his insistence on uncovering the
culprit and later in his guilty conscience. On the other hand, Michael's lack of a moral code and
value of pleasure is reflected through his action of smoking a joint and through his lack of concern
for breaking the law by "cheating" on his drug test. By feeling no remorse and acting on emotion,
Michael remains at Kierkegaard's aesthetic stage of existence, while Dwight uses his conscience and
therefore is at the ethical stage. In addition to displaying existential ideas about ethics, The Office
sends a philosophical message to viewers.
The idea of the theater of the absurd is reflected throughout the entire show The Office.
In the "Pilot" episode, The Office forces viewers to reflect on their own existences through its
satirical and somewhat

Using ethos pathos and logos in modern film
English 102 For this assignment, I've chosen to analyze the movie, Gone Girl and television show,
The Office. Gone Girl, a movie still in theaters, stars Neil Patrick Harris and Ben Affleck and is
based off a 2012 book. The book, written by Gillian Flynn, has since been a New York Times' Best
Seller. The Office was a television show spanning from 2005–2013 and earned multiple awards.
Both the book and movie are extremely graphic in nature, so the target audience is geared more
towards college students and beyond. I know this simply by the plot and R rating. The story depicts
Nick and Amy Dunne and their difficult marriage. Nick, played by Affleck, comes home from work
one morning to see his living room glass table shattered, blood ... Show more content on

Amy then seduces her former over, slits his throat, and heads back home with Nick. Amy claims she
was raped every day by Desi and killing was the only way out. But knowing the real truth, Nick
wants to leave Amy but is unable to after discovering that Amy is indeed pregnant. Without telling
her husband, she went to sperm bank having used sperm Nick stored. He reacts violently, but
decides to stay with Amy for the sake of the child. The Office has a wide range audience, because
unlike Good Girl, it's not a show graphic in nature. It's a funny show, about the struggles of working
at a failing paper company. Perhaps this show is suited for those in high school and older. I miss
watching this show with my parents, because they enjoyed it as much as I did. Like Good Girl, this
show utilizes ethos, pathos and logos. A good example of logos would be the relationship between
two co–workers, Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert. Dwight, a salesman, wears glasses, parts his hair
and wears a mustard–colored short sleeve dress shirt and tie to work every day. When he's not
working, he enjoys growing beats on his 42–acre beat farm with his cousin and watching Battlestar
Galactica. To put it lightly, Dwight is a complete nerd. But Jim, on the other hand, is the king of the
office. Jim flirts with his female coworkers, enjoys playing sports, complains about his job and dates
the best looking women.

Parks And Recreation
The Office vs. Parks and Recreation On March 24th 2005, The Office aired for the first time. It was
an exceptional show because it introduced comedy in a new light. On April 9th 2009, Parks and
Recreation aired for the first time. This was also a show that presented comedy and a way very
similar to The Office. The two shows share a shocking amount of similarities; however, the shows
do have a lot of differences that make them unique in their own way. The Office and Parks and
Recreation are both shows about a group of people who have somewhat boring desk jobs, but make
the best of it and have an amusing time doing so. In The Office, Michael Scott is the reginal
manager of a paper company called Dunder Mifflin. In Parks and Recreation, Leslie

Analysis Of Breaking The Fourth Wall
The next part of analysis is breaking of the fourth wall. The Office uses this technique often. One of
the ways a character can break the fourth wall is by using it as an introduction. In the first episode of
The Office each character went into an interview and it previewed what their character would be
like ("Pilot"). Another way of using this technique is to share their thoughts and emotions. Jim
would explain how he has feelings for Pam, but unfortunately she was engaged to someone else
("Gay Witch Hunt"). Nonverbal expression was a technique Jim used a lot in the show. When he
worked at the Stamford branch, the office workers there made fun of Jim for always smiling and
looking into the camera ("Gay Witch Hunt"). The Office had a creative take on this technique. In the
last episode, the show hosted a questionnaire for fans to come in ask them whatever they wanted
("Finale"). This is unique for situation comedies because it blurs the lines of the fourth wall.
Part of the reason fans love The Office is because of the relatable or unique characters. Michael
Scott is the regional manager and he can tend to be ignorant, but he still tries to connect with his
employees. In the first episode ever, the viewer gets a taste of these qualities. Michael says he is the
best boss ever and even bought a mug for himself that says "best boss ever" ("Pilot"). In season five,
Michael is on Skype with Pam, who was the old receptionist, and shows her the new receptionist

Sexual Harassment In Donna Ned's The Office
Sexual harassment continues to be a substantial problem within the workplace and around the world.
Donna Benson, an American author, writes in "Sexual Harassment on a University
Campus: The Confluence of Authority Relations, Sexual Interest and Gender Stratification" that
"Female workers have always been vulnerable to sexual abuse by male employees... In non–random
surveys as many as 70 percent of respondents report harassment on the job" (236). This is an
unfortunate statistic, and through comedy, the television series The Office (U.S.), created by NBC,
and directed by Benjamin Novak reveals the reality of this unfortunate statistic and how
inappropriate harassment is. The Office (U.S.) is a comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper
company's Scranton branch manager, Michael Scott. Michael is a comedic and belligerent character
who is unaware of his socially distasteful humor, which shows the audience how unacceptable
sexual harassment is. Through the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience
how sexual harassment is unacceptable. In the episode titled, "Sexual Harassment" in season two of
The Office (U.S.), Michael Scott negatively depicts males due to his inappropriate sexual
harassment. In addition, the way his female employees react to his harassment parallels with another
woman's strategy to combat sexual harassment. Lastly, the producers used comedy to bring
awareness to one of the problems that particular society is dealing with, which

Exemplification Essay: The Office TV Show
The office tv show is a classic that interprets what can happen in a day–to–day basic office paper
company, and when you implant characters such as 'Dwight', 'Jim', 'Michael', 'Pam', and several
other characters that are just so synchronized together, it's enough to create a tragedy, humorous, or
sad episode. This tv show was released in 2005 based on the 2001 version of the 'Office UK'. The
Office show has been through alot, there was a point in time after airing the first season where the
show was doom to be canceled, but the action was withheld (thank god) due to Steve Carell's new
movie that was about to come out at the time, and it was said that the show would soon sky rocket
after the actors success in portraying the lead roll in the movie "The 40 year–old virgin". Thankfully

Interpersonal Communication Behavior : Fice Essay
The TV series, which I have chosen, and believe to be one of the best examples of interpersonal
communication behavior, is the American television comedy series called The Office. This
outrageously hilarious comedy TV series portrays the everyday lives of office employees located in
Scranton, Pennsylvania, a branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin paper company and is filmed in a
documentary type style by a team of film crew members. The plot of this TV series revolves around
documenting the lives, interactions, and interpersonal relationships of the manager, Michael Scott,
and the employees that he manages, which include Jim Halpert, who is a sales representative and
prankster, Pam Beesly, who is a receptionist, and Dwight Schrute, who is a high–ranking salesman
devoid of social skills, as well as Stanley Hudson, Kevin Malone, and many other minor characters
who play the roles of office workers, working in a variety of positions throughout the office. To start
off, the first concept that can be evidently seen in one of the episodes of this TV series is the concept
of emotional messages, specifically, the emotional expression of sadness, which is exemplified by
the character Jim Halpert as his boss, Michael Scott, is about to leave the company in the episode
titled "Goodbye, Michael." In this episode, the verbal expression of emotion known as sadness is
shown by Jim Halpert as well as Michael Scott as Jim explains what a wonderful boss Michael Scott

finds out she is pregnant and Jim is going to be a dad. They end up getting married in Niagara Falls
and the audience feels so happy for this "fairy tale" couple and that their love finally overcame the
struggles of their daily lives. However, conflict found its way into their relationship early and caused
a great amount of conflict within their new family. Many of these problems can be seen through the
lack of function being served throughout the family and certain roles not being played. During the
wedding there is conflict between Pam's grandmother Mema and Pam because the secret that was

Dynamic Characters In The Office
"If there is one thing that I have learned through this whole experience, it's that if you film anybody

manager, and Dwight Schrute, a paper salesman. At first glance, these characters seem to share
nothing in common; however, when taking a closer look, Dwight and Michael have many
similarities including social abilities, work lives, and emotional connectivity. Michael and Dwight
are similar in that they are both mildly socially detached. This trait contributes to the humor in their
everyday interactions. It also explains why both men struggle with making connections within the

Media As A Technology Of Communication
The piece of media I will be analyzing is the US version of a TV show called The Office. In order to
prove that this is a piece of media, we need to first define what media actually is. In class, we
defined media as a technology of communication. Our book defines media as the process of
communicating a message from a sender to a receiver (Croteau & Hoynes, 2014). The Office falls
under this description. NBC is the sender, The Office is the message, and the viewers of the show
are the receivers.
The Office first came to be in the UK in 2001. It was created by and starred Ricky Gervais, until it
ended after only two seasons in 2003 (IMDb, B). The US then adapted their own version of the
show with the help of Ricky Gervais. The US version of The Office first aired on March 24, 2005.
Since it was first made into a series by the UK, the credit for the original version goes to Ricky
Gervais. Most credit for the US version is attributed to executive producer and creator, Greg
Daniels, although The Office had many writers and producers (IMDb, A).
Continuing looking at the history of The Office, we see its history with product placement. When
people think of product placement, many think about just movies. As it turns out, 71.4% of product
placement is done on television, and about 75% of TV shows use product placement (Kolowich,
2015). The Office uses product placement to make money, and to make the set seem more realistic.
Since the show is set to look like a documentary, some

Character Analysis Of Esperanza Rising
In the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, Esperanza is the main character who is the
protagonist. Esperanza is a thirteen–year–old child that has been faced with more tragic events from
the age of nine to thirteen than some may experience their whole life time. Her character is very
smart, determined, and compassionate just like some of the kids you may know. The author does a
great job with allowing the reader to get inside Esperanza's head to understand her thinking and
logic. The author uses Esperanza life to encourage children who may be going through some of the
same experience, that they could make it through to. Although Esperanza is just a normal kid trying
to have fun, the constant tragic events in her life forces her to mature instantly becoming a strong
young adult. This paper will discuss how Esperanza grew up and some of Esperanza reactions that
shows her growth in maturity, while exploring some of the conflicts Esperanza experienced that
causes her to change her thinking.
First, the book starts off telling the story of how Esperanza grew up in a loving wealthy family who
owned El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was surrounded by generations of
family members who loved her. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the
grape harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season.
Esperanza was a young girl who really didn't understand poverty and was known to have a snobbish
attitude at times when she was little because of her family's wealth. She was surrounded by families
that were just as wealthy as her own so poverty was not a norm in their community. There are many
examples of her snobby ways in the beginning of book like when she first boarded a train in Mexico
and realizes that she and her friend definitely wouldn't be traveling first class. Her reaction to this
was basically like: "You expect me to travel coach?! Yeah right." It was evident Esperanza did not
use to a present lifestyle. Esperanza father was her biggest mentor and she followed his teachings
very closely. After the death of her father, it was people like Abuelita, Mama, and Miguel that help

comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper company's Scranton branch manager, Michael Scott.
Michael is a comedic and belligerent character who is unaware of his socially unacceptable humor,
which shows the audience how unacceptable sexual harassment is. Throughout the second episode
of season two, Michael Scott negatively depicts males through his humor. In addition, the way his
female employees react to his nonsense is similar to the way Jessica Valenti combats sexual
harassment. Lastly, through the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience
how sexual harassment is unacceptable. In Season two, episode two of The Office (U.S.), Michael
Scott negatively depicts males due to his inappropriate sexual harassment. In addition, the way his
female employees react to his harassment parallels with Jessica Valenti's strategy

Wkp Case Study
After watching the pilot episode of WKRP it is clear to see that, while very funny, there are many
complications coming with the new changes to the station. In first scene of the series we begin the
"complications" examples with a situation of ongoing possibility of sexual harassment. Herb walks
into the office from lunch and begins to make standard small talk with Jennifer. As the conversation
goes on he begins to pose more risqué questions implying a date. While these questions seem like
innocent play between co–workers the possibility for a sexual harassment issue to rise will no doubt
become higher if Herb isn't able to take the hint. The second example is the very apparent dilemma
occurring throughout the episode: the format change.

Inside Sport By Robert Drane Summary
"There was a time when Billie Jean King was always in the news." Robert Drane writes about the
uphills of women's tennis for Inside Sport. Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was
all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that
King altered the way women's sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in
women's equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her
strength as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King's credibility the article successfully
shows how King changed the course of women's tennis, when it seemed there was no hope.
First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women's tennis. He states,
"After all, she won a total of 12 grand slam singles titles, including six Wimbledons, a total of 39
grand slam titles altogether, and had celebrated rivalries with Margaret Court, Chris Evert, and
Martina Navratilova." She had so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Former Wimbledon champion, Bobby Riggs decided that women's tennis was not worthy of any
fame, as he claimed he could beat any of their top players, even at age 55. Drane writes that King
was challenged by him in a match, it was a famous match named the battle of the sexes. King knew
that losing this match would "set us back 50 years... It would ruin women's tennis and affect all
women's self–esteem." After he beat Australia's Margaret Court, he dubbed himself as a "hustler".
King wanted to prove herself and make Riggs 'eat his words' as they say. So she did, when she won
6–4, 6–3, 6–3, against Riggs. The event drew 30,500 people and was aired in 37 countries. The stats
do not lie, King was a force to be reckoned with and she would not back down when it came to
saving her good name and the reputation of women around the

Examples Of Deviance In The Office
The Office is a comedic mockumentary that takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania and focuses on
the lives of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company Inc. employees over the course of nine years. It has
many characters, but mainly centers around Michael Scott, the regional manager, Dwight Schrute,
Jim Halpert (both salesman) and Pam Beesly, the receptionist. Over its nine seasons, the show has
displayed many sociological concepts, but has the most examples of deviance, sex and gender,
socialization and social interaction and groups and organization. Deviance in The Office is displayed
mainly through one of its minor characters, Creed Bratton. While he appears to be a normal person,
he often reveals things that are incriminating and is defined by his deviance ... Show more content

In the episode "Gay Witch Hunt", one of Dunder Mifflin's employees, Oscar Martinez, is outed by
the regional manager, Michael Scott, to all his employees. After he does this, Oscar has to deal with
the repercussions of being gay in the workplace, some of which include dealing with homophobic
questions and attitudes towards him, especially from his more conservative co–worker, Angela
Martin. Later in the show, Angela gets married to the senator of Scranton, and has a baby that, is
later revealed in the episode "Jury Duty", conceived out of wedlock. The baby doesn't end up being
the senator's at all, but is instead another Dunder Mifflin employees', Dwight Schrute, after the two
had an affair. Lastly, sexism in the workplace, especially in the episode "Back from Vacation", is
shown to be a fairly large issue. Michael Scott spreads around a picture of Jan Levinson, the vice
president of sales and his unofficial girlfriend, from their vacation in Jamaica in which she is nearly
naked. He does this without her approval, and it's spread to everybody in both the office and to the
warehouse, and eventually makes its way into the higher management

Informative Essay On Pam Grier
Pam Grier: The Baddest One–Chick Hit Squad
Pamela Suzette Grier was born on May 26TH, 1949 in Winston–Salem, North Carolina to Sylvia
Samuels, a nurse, and Clarence Ransom Grier, a mechanic and Technical Sergeant in the US Air
Force. She moved frequently throughout her childhood due to her father's military career, but the
family eventually settled in Denver, where she attended both secondary school and college. In order
to raise money for tuition for her sophomore year, Grier entered several beauty pageants around the
state and even earned second runner up in the 1967 Miss Colorado Pageant – it was there that she
was discovered by an agent who urged her to take up acting and she quickly moved to Los Angeles
with her aunt and cousin, Rosey Grier, a pro–football player and actor, in 1968 to pursue a career.
Pam worked several jobs upon her arrival in Los Angeles, but it was a receptionist job with
American International Pictures that led to her discovery by director Jack Hill, who cast her in his
women in prison films The Big Doll House (1971) and The Big Bird Cage (1972). (Shortly before
that, she was also given a role in Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, a film released in 1970 that was
written by Roger Ebert and directed by Russ Meyer, but her part was small and allowed for limited
screen time. Her breakout role was in Coffy, Jack Hill's Blaxplotation film about a nurse and
vigilante, played by Grier, who seeks revenge on the drug dealers who lured her sister into a life of
debauchery. Her character was lauded as "baddest one–chick hit–squad that ever hit town!" and
despite the film's sexual and violent elements, it was a box office hit. Grier was the first African
American female to headline an action film and she is credited as the woman who paved the way for
current female actions stars like Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron, and more specifically the new
wave of black female action heroes like Taraji P. Henson, who plays a kick–ass hit woman who's
dressed to kill in Proud Mary. Throughout the 1970s, she played the lead in several other
Blaxploitation films produced by AIP like Foxy Brown (1974), Sheba Baby, and Friday Foster
(which were both released in 1975.)

Pam Is A Hardworking-Driven Person
"You have to push yourself and be that person to decide that you want to do this," Pam told me in a
serious, tone from across the room. Pam is a very hardworking, driven person. Between working
multiple jobs, Pam manages to keep up and never back down no matter how tough or exhausting the
tasks can get. From a young age Pam never had the perfect home life; coming from two alcoholic
parents and never being close with her sisters, she never had that support every teenager needs. At
the age of fifteen Pam became pregnant, her parents weren't okay with this. Instead of finding
support at home, her best friend's mother picked her up and supported her. "If it wasn't for her, I
wouldn't have finished high school. She babysat my first child for free while I finished up my high
school career." In her teenage years, Pam never saw herself to be where she is today, "I originally
wanted to join the army right after high school, I never thought I would be a nurse," she said. After
high school, Pam then realized that the army was not going to be her future, she then started
working with someone who really pushed her along and inspired her; the original owner of Union
City Care Center, Meta Sue Livingston. Meta Sue took Pam under her ... Show more content on

The Comedic Structure In Nbc's The Office
In most television shows today, comedy is expressed in a humorous way. However, audience does
not realize that there is more to a comedy than just laughter. Instead of a death in a tragedy, comedy
illustrates a "happy ever after" ending. NBC's The Office, illustrates the comedic structure through
the relationship of two characters, Jim Halpert, a formal sales man, and Pam Beesly, the receptionist.
In a comedy show, there is a specific structure that writers must follow, especially through a
relationship. First part of the structure is the "Shadow of Confusion," the part where the hero or
heroine is introduced and the audience can clearly see that they are made for each other. In season
one, Jim and Pam are shown to be great friends and to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In season three, Pam and Jim finally talk about their true feelings with one another. Pam eventually
grows tired of hiding her feelings from Jim and, on beach day, confesses to him in front of the entire
office staff that he was the true reason she called off her wedding and that she misses his friendship
("Beach Games"). Later that night, Jim opens up to Pam about how he feels as if he had never come
back from Stamford because of how many unresolved issues they have. Even though they appear to
reconcile, Jim's relationship with Karen and the possibility of him being promoted to a position at
Corporate keep them apart. In the last episode, "The Job," Jim realizes he can no longer fight his
feelings for Pam. He decides to withdraw his name from consideration for his big job at Corporate
and breaks up with Karen as well. Once he got back to the office, he ran to the conference room and
asks her out on a date. This gives the audience a sign of relief because both character finally realize
they are meant for each other. In addition, as their relationship grew throughout seasons four and
five, they finally get married at Niagara Falls ("The Meeting"). This clearly shows the last step of a

Well Timed Digs Analysis
"The talk show host has been extraordinarily professional to Strahan. But every now and then, Ripa
has managed to throw in a few well–timed digs". I disagree, the "well–timed digs" are not only
unprofessional, it is unseemly and inappropriate. Her reaction from the beginning has been
unprofessional. She is taking this WAAAY too personally, were they more than c–workers? Because
she is behaving like a jilted or spurned lover. Witnessing her continued unbecoming and passive–
aggressive behavior, I am beginning to understand why her bosses might have thought it a good idea
not to tell Kelly until everything was finalized. She may feel that the show is her second home and

For that, she is paid $20 million and Michael was paid $4 million. Kelly does not have a "right" to
know anything; she does not "own" the show, nor is she a producer. Contrary to popular belief, she
is just an employee of ABC. HOWEVER, as a professional courtesy, ABC should have let Michael
tell her sooner so she would not have been blindsided. There was no reason why ABC could not
have postponed the announcement of Michael's departure until after Kelly's pre–planned vacation so
that she had some time to come to terms with everything. While Kelly increased viewership by
about 80% when she joined, viewership in the key demographics increased 87% when Michael
joined the show. She and Michael won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment
Talk Show Host in 2015 and 2016. So, he brought something to the show. But Kelly forced Michael

The Schopenhauer Cure

  • 1. The Schopenhauer Cure The Schopenhauer Cure Alyssa K. Engblom Winona State University In the book The Schopenhauer Cure, Yalom portrays a group therapist, Julius, who uses a variety of group facilitation techniques in order for the group to be run effectively. The first technique Julius uses in the group is to switch the focus from content to process. "Julius intervened by using the group therapist's most common and most effective tactic–he switched the focus from the content to the process, that is, away from the words being spoken to the nature of the relationship of the interacting parties" (Yalom, 2005, p. 132). During this scenario, Bonnie is feeling insecure about herself and confronts Rebecca about "preening" for the men in the group. Phillip is still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advice may not have helped them extensively, but at least he was trying to contribute. Philip also challenged the other members of the group as well as Julius. His personality was not very inviting, but this forced the others (and Julius) to try harder to understand him and what made him tick. When Pam returns to the group from her retreat, the mood immediately becomes darker when she sees Philip in her "cozy" group. She does not feel comfortable having him in the group because he had caused her so much pain in the past. Julius found it hard to find "forgiveness" for Philip, but he tried to identify with him to try to understand why he would have done the things he did. Tony sided with Pam and questioned some of Philip's statements, whereas Rebecca defended Philip against Tony's "attacks". Stuart also seemed to protect Philip against Tony's attacks. He reminded Tony that he hadn't seemed sorry for his sexual assault charges in the past. At the end of this confrontational chapter, Pam behaved towards Philip as if he were invisible. Farther on into the "role changes", Pam revealed that she felt defiled that Philip was a part of her group. He was also, in a way, taking away her role as the intellectual of the group. In order to handle these various changes, Julius tries to understand where each person is coming from, whether it is Pam, Philip, Tony, etc. Additionally, he made sure that each group member voiced what ... This television series consists of nine seasons with about twenty episodes in each season. The show contains several immature office workers who behave inappropriately with ego clashes. The Office is the most outstanding comedy of this generation because of its use of humor, characters, and plot. One element that makes The Office an excellent television show is the use of humor. The show's humor may be described as dry and sarcastic. The characters are not attempting to be funny, nevertheless, they are extremely immature; therefore, the language the workers use may seem hilarious. • 9. Esperanza Rising Short Story Mexican immigrants in the United States faced difficult challenges daily such as discrimination, lower wages, and hatred. The book Esperanza Rising is by American writer Pam Munoz Ryan. Esperanza is a Mexican girl at the age of thirteen, and she had to leave her home in Mexico to come to the United States as an immigrant. She had to leave because of her greedy uncles. Even though Esperanza's life was full of challenges, as an immigrant the harshest challenges were not knowing how to do daily chores, having to go work in the sheds to pay mama´s medical bill, and facing discrimination due to her skin tone. The fact that Esperanza did not know how to do daily chores because she always had servants, shows her harsh new life as an immigrant. The first challenge Esperanza faced was not knowing how to sweep the platform. Esperanza had to sweep the platform to lower the rent her family paid for the house. She did not come from a family that did their chores they always had servants, therefore she never had to learn how to sweep. She got made fun of by Marta a striker when she tried to sweep the platform. On page 116 and 117 is states that, ¨In her entire life, Esperanza had never held a broom in her hand... A group of women were pointing and laughing at her. And in the middle of them was Marta, pointing.¨ Esperanza ran home and Miguel taught Esperanza how to sweep as stated on page 118, ¨ `How would you know how to sweep a floor? • 13. Consequences Of Esperanza Rising Many people who have read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan believe that Esperanza and her mother should have stayed in Mexico, but in my opinion, I believe that they were right to leave for California. If they stayed, they would have had to face several consequences, one being having to live with Esperanza's uncle, despicable Tio Luis. At the same time, when they went to California, they did not have to leave everything behind, it was a choice they made. After all, as Esperanza herself said in the book, "Do not ever be afraid to start over." (p. 253) Esperanza and her mother made the choice to leave Mexico and go to California to work and escape Tio Luis, which I believe to be a good decision. Before going, Esperanza was spoiled, rich, and quite full of herself, living in a high social class family, and in general thought of herself better than others. At first, she was against leaving everything she knew and loved, but in the end, found herself liking California. Esperanza made new friends, in particular, Isabel, who taught her many things, even though she was younger. She taught her how to appreciate what she had, and how to get a job done. She taught her how to deal with the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people do choose to stay in their home country, for various reasons, but others, such as Esperanza and her mother, choose to leave one place for another, the same way many Syrians are immigrating to Germany. In other words, while several stay, several leave as well, and it is therefore up to those said people to decide. A point often overlooked, though, when all of the numbers are in the air, it is very easy to forget that these are people, not just statistics. As said in Pam Munoz Ryan's book, Esperanza Rising, "There is no rose without thorns." • 17. Analysis Of Esperanza Rising By Pam Munoz Rising The book Esperanza Rising, by Pam Munoz Ryan, gives readers a reason to never be afraid of starting over. The main character named Esperanza, is faced with several challenging situations as a young girl. These challenging events are life changing at times, which forces her to make adult decisions at young age. The life Esperanza is forced to live is unfortunately a reality to many Mexican families that made the move to the United States in search of the American Dream. Events faced by Esperanza's family alongside workers of the El Rancho de las Rosas, which Esperanza's family owned, forces Esperanza to change into a mature young teenage female. Munoz Ryan shows Esperanza's character change by challenges she is faced with. The outcome of these events show growth within her young life by the emotions Esperanza expresses. Throughout the book Munoz Ryan uses symbolism to show growth and change within all characters. However; it is obvious to see the symbolic aspects the author provides related to Esperanza's changes. The author faces Esperanza with different events to help remind her of a once wealthy life along with her current immigrant life style. As a whole many factors influence Esperanza's change. In the onset of Esperanza Rising, Esperanza is a wealthy, spoiled and dependent eight year old child, due to life changing events, she matures into an independent and mature teenage female. Esperanza is faced with several major events that forces her to mature at a young age. In these events readers can see how she grows as her emotions change. In the beginning of the book, Esperanza's father passes away (p. 22) and their family home on the ranch, El Rancho de las Rosas, catches on fire (p.40). This is the beginning of Esperanza's quickly changed young life. As a young girl she realizes life will never be the same. She once was wealthy and lived life with the help of housekeepers. Papa also had field workers to help with his needs on the farm. Raised with a positive perspective on life, her hopes and dreams are soon challenged. Esperanza is forced to leave everything she has ever known to move to the United States. The fire is symbolic because the family is forced start all over, in life, along with her social ... After the airing of the "Pilot" episode, a reviewer from the Deseret Morning News commented, "Maybe [...] after The Office dies a quick death on NBC, the network will decide that trying to Americanize British TV comedies isn't such a great idea" (quoted in Pilot (The Office)). Despite its original negative reception, The Office went on to run nine successful seasons and has become a television favorite of individuals across America. After interviewing several possible suspects, Dwight arranges for the entire office to be drug tested. Unfortunately for Dwight, the culprit turns out to be his manager, Michael, whom Dwight is very loyal to. In order to pass the drug test, Michael begs Dwight to donate some of his urine to him, and Dwight complies. When both Dwight and Michael make it safely out of the screening, Michael has no response from his conscience, while Dwight's moral code forces him to resign from his post as a volunteer sheriff after he breaks his oath to the police station by tampering with the test results. Dwight's extreme moral code is displayed in this episode through his insistence on uncovering the culprit and later in his guilty conscience. On the other hand, Michael's lack of a moral code and value of pleasure is reflected through his action of smoking a joint and through his lack of concern for breaking the law by "cheating" on his drug test. By feeling no remorse and acting on emotion, Michael remains at Kierkegaard's aesthetic stage of existence, while Dwight uses his conscience and therefore is at the ethical stage. In addition to displaying existential ideas about ethics, The Office sends a philosophical message to viewers. The idea of the theater of the absurd is reflected throughout the entire show The Office. • 29. Using ethos pathos and logos in modern film English 102 For this assignment, I've chosen to analyze the movie, Gone Girl and television show, The Office. Gone Girl, a movie still in theaters, stars Neil Patrick Harris and Ben Affleck and is based off a 2012 book. The book, written by Gillian Flynn, has since been a New York Times' Best Seller. The Office was a television show spanning from 2005–2013 and earned multiple awards. Both the book and movie are extremely graphic in nature, so the target audience is geared more towards college students and beyond. I know this simply by the plot and R rating. The story depicts Nick and Amy Dunne and their difficult marriage. Nick, played by Affleck, comes home from work one morning to see his living room glass table shattered, blood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amy then seduces her former over, slits his throat, and heads back home with Nick. Amy claims she was raped every day by Desi and killing was the only way out. But knowing the real truth, Nick wants to leave Amy but is unable to after discovering that Amy is indeed pregnant. Without telling her husband, she went to sperm bank having used sperm Nick stored. He reacts violently, but decides to stay with Amy for the sake of the child. The Office has a wide range audience, because unlike Good Girl, it's not a show graphic in nature. It's a funny show, about the struggles of working at a failing paper company. Perhaps this show is suited for those in high school and older. I miss watching this show with my parents, because they enjoyed it as much as I did. Like Good Girl, this show utilizes ethos, pathos and logos. A good example of logos would be the relationship between two co–workers, Dwight Schrute and Jim Halpert. Dwight, a salesman, wears glasses, parts his hair and wears a mustard–colored short sleeve dress shirt and tie to work every day. When he's not working, he enjoys growing beats on his 42–acre beat farm with his cousin and watching Battlestar Galactica. To put it lightly, Dwight is a complete nerd. But Jim, on the other hand, is the king of the office. Jim flirts with his female coworkers, enjoys playing sports, complains about his job and dates the best looking women. ... • 37. Analysis Of Breaking The Fourth Wall The next part of analysis is breaking of the fourth wall. The Office uses this technique often. One of the ways a character can break the fourth wall is by using it as an introduction. In the first episode of The Office each character went into an interview and it previewed what their character would be like ("Pilot"). Another way of using this technique is to share their thoughts and emotions. Jim would explain how he has feelings for Pam, but unfortunately she was engaged to someone else ("Gay Witch Hunt"). Nonverbal expression was a technique Jim used a lot in the show. When he worked at the Stamford branch, the office workers there made fun of Jim for always smiling and looking into the camera ("Gay Witch Hunt"). The Office had a creative take on this technique. In the last episode, the show hosted a questionnaire for fans to come in ask them whatever they wanted ("Finale"). This is unique for situation comedies because it blurs the lines of the fourth wall. Part of the reason fans love The Office is because of the relatable or unique characters. Michael Scott is the regional manager and he can tend to be ignorant, but he still tries to connect with his employees. In the first episode ever, the viewer gets a taste of these qualities. Michael says he is the best boss ever and even bought a mug for himself that says "best boss ever" ("Pilot"). • 41. Sexual Harassment In Donna Ned's The Office Sexual harassment continues to be a substantial problem within the workplace and around the world. Donna Benson, an American author, writes in "Sexual Harassment on a University Campus: The Confluence of Authority Relations, Sexual Interest and Gender Stratification" that "Female workers have always been vulnerable to sexual abuse by male employees... In non–random surveys as many as 70 percent of respondents report harassment on the job" (236). This is an unfortunate statistic, and through comedy, the television series The Office (U.S.), created by NBC, and directed by Benjamin Novak reveals the reality of this unfortunate statistic and how inappropriate harassment is. The Office (U.S.) is a comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper company's Scranton branch manager, Michael Scott. Michael is a comedic and belligerent character who is unaware of his socially distasteful humor, which shows the audience how unacceptable sexual harassment is. Through the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience how sexual harassment is unacceptable. In the episode titled, "Sexual Harassment" in season two of The Office (U.S.), Michael Scott negatively depicts males due to his inappropriate sexual harassment. In addition, the way his female employees react to his harassment parallels with another woman's strategy to combat sexual harassment. Lastly, the producers used comedy to bring awareness to one of the problems that particular society is dealing with, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exemplification Essay: The Office TV Show The office tv show is a classic that interprets what can happen in a day–to–day basic office paper company, and when you implant characters such as 'Dwight', 'Jim', 'Michael', 'Pam', and several other characters that are just so synchronized together, it's enough to create a tragedy, humorous, or sad episode. This tv show was released in 2005 based on the 2001 version of the 'Office UK'. The Office show has been through alot, there was a point in time after airing the first season where the show was doom to be canceled, but the action was withheld (thank god) due to Steve Carell's new movie that was about to come out at the time, and it was said that the show would soon sky rocket after the actors success in portraying the lead roll in the movie "The 40 year–old virgin". • 49. Interpersonal Communication Behavior : Fice Essay The TV series, which I have chosen, and believe to be one of the best examples of interpersonal communication behavior, is the American television comedy series called The Office. This outrageously hilarious comedy TV series portrays the everyday lives of office employees located in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin paper company and is filmed in a documentary type style by a team of film crew members. The plot of this TV series revolves around documenting the lives, interactions, and interpersonal relationships of the manager, Michael Scott, and the employees that he manages, which include Jim Halpert, who is a sales representative and prankster, Pam Beesly, who is a receptionist, and Dwight Schrute, who is a high–ranking salesman devoid of social skills, as well as Stanley Hudson, Kevin Malone, and many other minor characters who play the roles of office workers, working in a variety of positions throughout the office. To start off, the first concept that can be evidently seen in one of the episodes of this TV series is the concept of emotional messages, specifically, the emotional expression of sadness, which is exemplified by the character Jim Halpert as his boss, Michael Scott, is about to leave the company in the episode titled "Goodbye, Michael." In this episode, the verbal expression of emotion known as sadness is shown by Jim Halpert as well as Michael Scott as Jim explains what a wonderful boss Michael Scott truly was to him. In ... The series is filmed like a documentary and follows a cast of dynamic characters through everyday life working at a fictional paper company called Dunder Mifflin. Two of the quirkiest characters in the show are Michael Scott, the regional manager, and Dwight Schrute, a paper salesman. At first glance, these characters seem to share nothing in common; however, when taking a closer look, Dwight and Michael have many similarities including social abilities, work lives, and emotional connectivity. Michael and Dwight are similar in that they are both mildly socially detached. This trait contributes to the humor in their everyday interactions. In order to prove that this is a piece of media, we need to first define what media actually is. In class, we defined media as a technology of communication. Our book defines media as the process of communicating a message from a sender to a receiver (Croteau & Hoynes, 2014). The Office falls under this description. NBC is the sender, The Office is the message, and the viewers of the show are the receivers. The Office first came to be in the UK in 2001. It was created by and starred Ricky Gervais, until it ended after only two seasons in 2003 (IMDb, B). The US then adapted their own version of the show with the help of Ricky Gervais. The US version of The Office first aired on March 24, 2005. Since it was first made into a series by the UK, the credit for the original version goes to Ricky Gervais. Most credit for the US version is attributed to executive producer and creator, Greg Daniels, although The Office had many writers and producers (IMDb, A). Continuing looking at the history of The Office, we see its history with product placement. When people think of product placement, many think about just movies. As it turns out, 71.4% of product placement is done on television, and about 75% of TV shows use product placement (Kolowich, 2015). The Office uses product placement to make money, and to make the set seem more realistic. Since the show is set to look like a documentary, some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Character Analysis Of Esperanza Rising In the book Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan, Esperanza is the main character who is the protagonist. Esperanza is a thirteen–year–old child that has been faced with more tragic events from the age of nine to thirteen than some may experience their whole life time. Her character is very smart, determined, and compassionate just like some of the kids you may know. The author does a great job with allowing the reader to get inside Esperanza's head to understand her thinking and logic. The author uses Esperanza life to encourage children who may be going through some of the same experience, that they could make it through to. Although Esperanza is just a normal kid trying to have fun, the constant tragic events in her life forces her to mature instantly becoming a strong young adult. This paper will discuss how Esperanza grew up and some of Esperanza reactions that shows her growth in maturity, while exploring some of the conflicts Esperanza experienced that causes her to change her thinking. First, the book starts off telling the story of how Esperanza grew up in a loving wealthy family who owned El Rancho de las Rosas in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She was surrounded by generations of family members who loved her. The family had lots of servants who worked for them during the grape harvest season and they also helped them with everything else during the off season. Esperanza was a young girl who really didn't understand poverty and was known to have a snobbish attitude at times when she was little because of her family's wealth. She was surrounded by families that were just as wealthy as her own so poverty was not a norm in their community. There are many examples of her snobby ways in the beginning of book like when she first boarded a train in Mexico and realizes that she and her friend definitely wouldn't be traveling first class. Her reaction to this was basically like: "You expect me to travel coach?! Yeah right." It was evident Esperanza did not use to a present lifestyle. Esperanza father was her biggest mentor and she followed his teachings very closely. After the death of her father, it was people like Abuelita, Mama, and Miguel that help keep Esperanza diva 'tude in check which helped keep her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. The Importance Of Sexual Harassment In The Office Sexual harassment continues to be a large problem within the workplace and around the world. Donna Benson, an American writer, writes in "Sexual Harassment on a University Campus: The Confluence of Authority Relations, Sexual Interest and Gender Stratification" that "Female workers have always been vulnerable to sexual abuse by male employees...In non–random surveys as many as 70 percent of respondents report harassment on the job" (236). This is an unfortunate statistic and through comedy, the television series The Office (U.S.), created by NBC, and directed by Benjamin Novak reveals how inappropriate harassment is. The Office (U.S.) is a comedy based around Dunder Mifflin Paper company's Scranton branch manager, Michael Scott. Michael is a comedic and belligerent character who is unaware of his socially unacceptable humor, which shows the audience how unacceptable sexual harassment is. Throughout the second episode of season two, Michael Scott negatively depicts males through his humor. In addition, the way his female employees react to his nonsense is similar to the way Jessica Valenti combats sexual harassment. Lastly, through the use of comedy, the producers of The Office reveal to its audience how sexual harassment is unacceptable. In Season two, episode two of The Office (U.S.), Michael Scott negatively depicts males due to his inappropriate sexual harassment. In first scene of the series we begin the "complications" examples with a situation of ongoing possibility of sexual harassment. Herb walks into the office from lunch and begins to make standard small talk with Jennifer. As the conversation goes on he begins to pose more risqué questions implying a date. While these questions seem like innocent play between co–workers the possibility for a sexual harassment issue to rise will no doubt become higher if Herb isn't able to take the hint. The second example is the very apparent dilemma occurring throughout the episode: the format change. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being a respected tennis athlete as a girl in the 1970s was all but easy, but Billie Jean King demanded the respect she deserved. Drane shows the readers that King altered the way women's sports were looked at, which led to an even bigger movement in women's equality. King had always been a huge feminist advocate and Drane writes about her strength as a player and a person. Using logical facts and King's credibility the article successfully shows how King changed the course of women's tennis, when it seemed there was no hope. First, Drane goes on to show the reader that King was highly respected in women's tennis. He states, "After all, she won a total of 12 grand slam singles titles, including six Wimbledons, a total of 39 grand slam titles altogether, and had celebrated rivalries with Margaret Court, Chris Evert, and Martina Navratilova." It would ruin women's tennis and affect all women's self–esteem." After he beat Australia's Margaret Court, he dubbed himself as a "hustler". King wanted to prove herself and make Riggs 'eat his words' as they say. So she did, when she won 6–4, 6–3, 6–3, against Riggs. The event drew 30,500 people and was aired in 37 countries.
