Grade Point Average
College students' classification in college differentiates them from one another.
Graduating from college is all dependent upon a students' grade point average and memory. A
students Grade Point Average (GPA) should determine how well a student can Recall information
using Short–Term Memory (STM,) and the ability to Recognize information (Explicit/Declarative
Memory). Studies show that college students do exceptionally well when they are around other
individuals they can relate to, a kinship, such as students attending a Head
Black College University (HBCU) or Primary White College University (PWCU). Studies further
indicate that if a college student has more life experience, which makes them seasoned, they are able

Analytical Tool
Analytical tool An analytical tool is something used to analyze or "take a closer look at" something.
It is normally a way to review the effectiveness of something. For example, Google offers a free
web analytics tool that is used by Web Masters to track visitors on a given site. It allows Web
Masters to see where visitors are coming from, how long they stay, what links they are reviewing,
etc. Analytic Tool help with Tracking and Reports! Data flow diagram –A data flow diagram (DFD)
is a graphical representation of the "flow" of data through an information system, modeling its
process aspects. Often they are a preliminary step used to create an overview of the system which
can later be elaborated.[2]DFDs can also be used for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are a wide variety of ways to illustrate frequency distributions, including histograms, relative
frequency histograms, density histograms, and cumulative frequency distributions. Histograms show
the frequency of elements that occur within a certain range of values, while cumulative distributions
show the frequency of elements that occur below a certain value. Histograms Frequency Histogram
1. A graphical representation of a single dataset, tallied into classes. 2. Frequency defined as the
number of values that fall into each class. 3. Histogram consists of a series of rectangles whose
widths are defined by the limits of the classes, and whose heights are determined by the frequency in
each interval. 4. Histogram depicts many attributes of the data, including location, spread, and
symmetry. a. No rigid set of rules that determine the number of classes or class interval. b. Between
5 and 20 classes suitable for most datasets. c. Equal sized class widths are found by dividing the
range by the number of classes. d. Formal guide by which class intervals can be derived is the
formula: K = 1 + 3.3 * log n where K is the number of classes and n is the number of variables. 5.
Relative frequency defined as the fraction of times the value occurs, or the freuqency of value(s) ÷
number of observations in the set. 6. Relative frequencies usually of more interest than

How to Lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff
I just finished reading really interesting book, How to lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff. This books
is all about a good cheat sheet to cheat with numbers. The moment someone mentions Statistics, the
most often seen reaction is a big yawn or a sigh of disbelief. This is because people come across all
kinds of statistical interpretations all the time such as in advertisement or marketing journals. This
sense of disbelief is because the reader can not verify the truthfulness behind presented numbers.
The assumption always is that the person talking about the number or statistics knows what he or
she is talking about because it is proven fact by statistical studies. Even if that is not the case, it is
very easy to be lost among the number, when they are represented as an averages, percentages,
year–on–year growth, or percentage points which can make the person talking about these seem
either very good or very bad. And this does not seem to have changed from 1954, when the book
was first published. The book is about helping readers see throughout these marketing tricks. Also,
to be able to ask the right questions and when to dismiss a statistics as faulty. It is a field manual to
beat the cheaters in their worn game. This is a delightful book with just 150 pages and 10 chapters
each with a specific theme. The book starts with the origin of the statistics problems, the sample.
Any statistics based on some samples always going to have some sorts of bias, even if the person

8. What was the mean severity for renal disease for the research subjects? What was the dispersion
or variability of the renal disease severity scores? Did the severity scores vary significantly between
the control and the experimental groups? Is this important? Provide a rationale for your answer.
The mean severity for renal disease for the research subjects was 6.74. The dispersion or variability
of the renal disease severity scores was 2.97. The self–care self–efficacy severity score did vary
significantly with the experimental group's mean posttest score being 6.44 points higher than its
baseline mean score. This is important because this finding indicates that the empowerment
intervention had a positive impact on the self–care self–efficacy of the patients.
9. Which variable was least affected by the empowerment program? Provide a rationale for your
answer.
The depression variable was least affected by the empowerment program. The experimental group's
average baseline score only dropped 0.64 from the posttest, and the control group's average baseline
score had no change in the posttest and stayed at 10.40.

Grade Point Average Goal
My ultimate goal for this semester is to get a 4.0 grade point average. I feel like if I start this
semester strong, I will continue to get good grade throughout college. In addition, to be competition
in the future when applying to graduate school I need to have a perfect grade point average. I will
get a 4.0 by turning in assignments on time so that I do not miss any. Most importantly I will study
my notes for all my classes everyday before and after class, so that it helps me understand the
material. This will also make it easier and less stressful to study for quizzes and exams, because by
studying material ahead of time I will have a good understanding and memory of the material. I will
keep my self on track by always reminding myself how much of a competition I want to be when I
apply to graduate school. I find this to motivate me to a great extent.
I also have a goal to finish homework the day they are assigned. I want to do this because I do not
want to procrastinate. I have noticed that if I tell myself I will do it later I will not do it until the day
before the homework is due. One thing I will do to reach this goal, is by using the majority of my
free time in–between classes to start and finish homework. I ... Show more content on

Every year throughout high school I would get home take a 2–hour nap, wake up, attempt to finish
homework until 3 in the morning and then try to sleep until 6 in the morning. This was the worst
thing I did in high school. This is because it would take me hours to actually wake up from my nap,
which would lead to less time to do homework. This caused my homework to pile up and caused my
stress to increase. This year I am going to avoid this by doing my homework when ever I am free on
campus so that I can go home and sleep without having to wake up to start or finish assignments.
Again, I will keep myself on track be continuously reminding myself, during my free time, the no

Correlation Between Extracurricular Activities And Grade...
2.0.0. Introduction In order to analyze the trend of the relationship between extracurricular activities
and grade point averages, historical perspectives will be explored. This chapter addresses why grade
point averages have become so vital to students' future success. Association among peer acceptance,
positive behaviours, character building, and G.P.A. are also included. Finally, the proven benefits of
curricular activities found in recent studies will be described. 2.0.1. LITERATURE REVIEW.
Academics are an important part of each student's University years, especially since University
grades play an integral role in promising jobs acceptance. Parents spend a lot of time encouraging
their teens to study more and play less in the pursuit of this goal. They believe that devoting a great
deal of time to studying guarantees success in future jobs applications. The purpose of this study is
to explore and widen the knowledge of everyone on how being involved in extra–curricular
activities can influence development in academics, social skills and completion. Determining the
long–lasting effects of extracurricular activities may help parents and students understand how
participation can impact students ' development now and in the future. Extra–curricular activities are
a part of students' everyday life. They play important roles in student's lives. They have positive
effects on student's lives by improving behaviour, school performance, school completion, positive

The Absenteeism and Its Statistical Significance and...
Introduction
The below information contains the factors that influences absenteeism in the workplace that we are
dealing with in this practical. The regression standard format that we will also provide with these
factors helps us to understand technically these factors and to make a clear meaning of these factors
economically. The randomly selected sample of 100 (one hundred) companies are going to help us
to save time and money to actually use it as an estimate for the entire companies (population). This
is the estimate of a regression model to examine the factors that influence employee absenteeism.
The data was collected from 100 randomly selected companies. The key definitions are as follows.
Y = Average number of days absent per ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The higher the absenteeism for whatever reason, the lower the output and the lower the profit. This
could be even dangerous to employees as well because when the profit is contracting they might be
retrenched from work. Descriptive Statistics Analysis
The separate XY scatterplots, in the Appendix, show that the relationship between Y and all the X 's
is consistent with economic theory although all the relationships appear to have very weak linear
relationships. The average employee wage (X2) as well as the percentage of part time employees in
a company (X3) shows weak negative non– linear relationship, and the percentage of unionized
employees in a company (X4) shows a weak positive linear relationship. As the average employee
wages (X2) increase the incentive to work harder decreases. Employees earning lower wages tend to
take fewer absent days and work harder than those earning higher wages. As the percentage of part
time employees (X3) increase in can be seen, in the scatterplot, that the average number of days
absent per employee (Y) decreases. Part time workers have more of an incentive to work harder than
full time employees, therefore it is expected that average number of days absent per employee (Y)
should decrease as the percentage of part time employees increases. As the percentage of unionized
employees in a company (X4) increases it can be seen, from the scatterplot, which the

Geographic Features And Spatial Distribution Essay
In two–dimensional space, geographic features have spatial references. Central tendency must
incorporate the coordinates that define the location of the features or objects. This in the spatial
context will be the mean center, the weighted mean center, or the median center of a spatial point
distribution. There is no essential correct way of calculating the center of spatial distribution (no one
correct way to calculate in all situations, although appropriate methods to calculate for various
settings. The interpretation of the result of the calculation can be determined by the nature of the
problem.
The mean center is the average location of a set of points. These points can represent regional
subdivisions, landslides, water wells, and such in a region. It is the geographic center of the set of
observations. In the study area, the average of X–bar and Y–bar coordinate is taken of all the
features/observations. The mean center of X and Y are X–bar and Y–bar respectively. For the i–th
observation of object, Xi and Yi are the coordinates and n is the number of observations.
The weighted mean center is the measure of the weighted geographic center of the set of
observations, as the weighted average Xw–bar and Yw–bar coordinate are seen of the
features/observations in the study area. Xw–bar and Yw–bar are the weighted mean center of X and
Y (respectively), Xi and Yi are the coordinates for the i–th observation, and wi is the weight. For
example, the population in the i–th

The Statistical Phenomenon Regression Of An English...
The statistical phenomenon Regression to the Mean is present when a condition reaches a high
degree as it is first observed, then reverts to the average when later observed. It is also present when
a condition remains average during the first observation and fluctuates highly during the second.
This regression effect is common within any element that oscillates irregularly within quantity and
quality over time. The definition of the word "regression" is to return to a former state. In this
theory, a variable often returns to an average value after it reaches a high value, or when a variable
that begins at a low value it tends to reach the average afterward. An English Victorian statistician
by the name of Francis Galton refined this theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After studying the heights of parents in relation to the height of their children, Galton realized that
tall parents will have children who are taller than the average height but not as tall as them. He also
found that short parents often have short kids, but not as short as they are (Ellenberg, 301). These
results allowed Galton to recognize the natural phenomenon of Regression to the Mean. He then
published his results in 1889 in a book he wrote entitled Natural Inheritance. In the book Galton
discussed that the regression theory is a natural occurrence as a result of inheritance and fortuity. It
was then understood that this theory is relevant to numerous variable beyond human traits. The
regression to the mean theory is applied commonly today when studying patterns such as athletic
performance and intellectual achievement. In Siddharth Kalla's article "Regression Toward the
Mean," he discusses a frequent trend within Olympic athletes who have been awarded gold medals
and continue to compete. "Olympic gold medalists tend to have a dip in performance...this is
because they were the ones hitting their peak in performance in the Olympics and therefore also gets
much attention afterward, because people expect more from these athletes" (Kalla). After an athlete
has already attained the highest award in their Olympic sport, it is seldom that they could repeat
their success

A College Education Will Construct The Foundation For My Life
I can hear my name being shouted while camera's lights are flashing. Is that red carpet that I am
walking on? Okay, it time for me to wake up and get back to reality. Being famous is what every
child dreams of becoming, and maybe one day that will come true; but for now, it is time to study. A
college education will construct the foundation for my adulthood, my ideal person, and my future.
The goal is to be successful in life, and I believe college is one way to get there. I will be the finest
person I can be and accomplish what is necessary to get there. Everyone has their own mountain
they have to climb; however, instead of simply just walking over mine, why not take a leap of faith
and jump. By putting forth one hundred percent effort, I will be soaring over these said mountains
that stand in my way. The next item on the docket past high school is college for most. I judge that
furthering my education can lead to many successful job opportunities. They say the higher the
degree, the better the money. In some cases, yes; however, I suppose occasionally one must work up
the social ladder. I need these college years, even if it does not work out for me in the end, the
experience would be well worth it. If I end up with a job outside my field of study, I can still come
out smelling peachy and by that I mean I can still do well for myself. The fuss these days is about
having the higher ranking degrees. All I am looking for is a bachelor degree in art, and if

There are three methods of job–based evaluation: the point method (which is the most commonly
used); ranking; and classification. Job evaluation helps to ensure that pay is internally aligned and
perceived to be fair by employees. Step 3: Pay Policy Identification Pay policy identification is the
process of determining whether the organization wants to lead, lag or meet the market in
compensation. The pay policy or strategy will likely influence employee attraction and retention.
Pay policies can vary across job families (i.e., groups of similar jobs) and job levels if the top
management feels that different strategies can be effective in different areas of the organization. Step

from other employers in a survey of the relevant labor market. Gathering external pay data (e.g.,
base pay, bonuses, stock options and benefits) is essential to keep the organization's compensation
externally competitive within its industry. Employee attraction and retention can be improved by
maintaining externally aligned pay structures. Step 5: Pay Structure Creation Pay structure creation

Job evaluation helps to ensure that pay is internally aligned and perceived to be fair by employees.
Step 3: Pay Policy Identification Pay policy identification is the process of determining whether the
organization wants to lead, lag or meet the market in compensation. The pay policy or strategy will
likely influence employee attraction and retention. Pay policies can vary across job families (i.e.,
groups of similar jobs) and job levels if the top management feels that different strategies can be
effective in different areas of the organization. Step 4: Pay Survey Analysis Pay survey analysis is
the process of analyzing compensation data gathered from other employers in a survey of the
relevant labor market. Gathering external pay data (e.g., base pay, bonuses, stock options and
benefits) is essential to keep the organization's compensation externally competitive within its
industry. Employee attraction and retention can be improved by maintaining externally aligned pay
structures. Step 5: Pay Structure Creation Pay structure creation is the final step, in which the
internal structure (Step 2) is merged with the external market pay rates (Step 4) in a simple
regression to develop a market pay line. Depending on whether the organization wants to lead, lag
or meet the market, the market pay line can be adjusted up or down. To complete the pay structure,
pay grades and pay ranges are developed. In this case, upper–level undergraduate or

Correlation Between Iq And The Grade Point Average Of...
Essay 2
Research shows that there is a correlation that shows the relationshop between the IQ and the grade
point average of students. It was found that the correlation is strong at a .75 because it's a direct
relationship. For instance when someone has a higher IQ they are more likely going to have a higher
GPA. However although the correlation shows a higher IQ means higher GPA does not mean that is
the only reason the GPA is rising, it could be because they hired a tutor, have been studying more or
are maybe just in more interesting classes. In correlation studies they show that there is a
relationship between two different variables however it is not evidence or proof in any way. The
reason it isn't proof is because it has not been proven that they are directly the reason for the
relationship however that they do have common results. Some of the reasons correlation cannot
prove anything is because of the limitations; these would be the lack of information about the
correlation, sample size or the standard deviation. In our text it states "If the word correlation is
broken down co–relation it is expresses what is meant: The characteristics are related and the
evidence for the relationship is that they vary together, or co–vary. As the level of one variable
changes, the other changes in concert, this happens because both variables contain some of the same
information. The higher the correlation the more they may have in common" (Tanner,2011). When

For example, local new car sales fluctuated greatly just in the two years between October of 1987
and October 1989 [SEE EXHIBIT 6]. The average net profit before taxes in 1979 was
approximately 2.5% of sales. By 198l that number had dropped to 1.16%. and 4000 dealerships had
folded. By 1987, however, profits reached a high of 2.16% of sales. In 1989, with profit before taxes
at a dismal 1.3% of sales and falling, the shadow of a recession in car buying loomed dark and
ominous. The average gross profit as a percent of sales also indicates a bleak outlook [SEE
EXHIBIT 5]. In 1988 the top 100 megadealers in the U.S. controlled nearly 13% of total new car
sales. It is estimated that if current trends continue, up to 25% of those megadealers will go out of
business (Spinella, 1988). Current State of the Industry The new and used car industry in the U.S. is
composed of 25,5OO dealerships owned by 17,800 dealer principals, quite a change from 28,350
dealerships owned by 25,100 dealers in 1979 [SEE EXHIBIT 2]. The recession of the early 1980 's
prompted a number of more stable dealers buy those dealerships which were in financial trouble.
Currently, nearly half all dealerships are a part of a chain of two or more dealerships, and nearly
20% are part of a chain of four of more dealerships. The total industry sales in dollars in 1988 (the
most current available data) were $303,235,000,000. In terms of unit sales, the approximate number

Suppose A Player Averages A 23 Points Per Game
Sports is world of measurement. Let's think of a sport like basketball, to where players attempt to
make baskets. Suppose a player averages a 23 points per game. Is that a good player, a bad player, or
s great player? A good coach will know that base of this limited information it will be impossible to
answer that question. Basketball is more than scoring. Players can block shots, rebound missed
shots, steal the ball, and assist others on scoring. They can also make a number of mistakes that
benefit their opponents. So now if a player averages 23 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists, and 4 steals
per game. Is that a good player, a bad player, or a great player? A poor coach might be trick on
answering that question, but a good coach will still realize that those statistics measures only certain
aspects of effectiveness. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Would you be comfortable making a decision about that player? What other type of data do you
want? I would want to know situational data. Suppose those 23 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists, and 4

league of a 5 year old children. Still feeling good about these player's statistics? What I'm seeing is
that not every set of data is sufficient in helping us on making good decision. A good system of
metrics needs to provide information on effectiveness, efficiency, and adaptability. This is just not
true in a sport like basketball. Businesses constantly seek to collect and study data in an effort to
make good decision. In fact, humans are hopelessly addicted to metrics that will aide them in
making good decision. What time is it? What's the temperature? What's your grade in this class?
This are numbers that guide our actions. Performance measurement metrics can actually motivate

Complying by the company's 3 hour guarantee , an average of the total service time is 2.5 hours.
This includes 1 hour of travel and 1.5 hours of repair time.
Taking this into account, the average service time per customer will be 1/ 2.5 = 0.4 hours

Sleep Affects Your Grade–Point Average, More Than You Think
Introduction
Research has shown that one's grade point average is directly correlated to one's sleep (Chiang,
2014; Hershner & Chervin, 2014). Along with that, sleep affects one's grade point average through a
psychological standpoint, as in the brain's functionality (Kelly, 2001; Milan 2005). Where on the
other hand, others say that sleep length have nothing to do with grade point average at all, it's due a
lack of commitment to work and study hard, in an efficient way. (Hershner & Chervin, 2014; Milan
2005). Yet, many students lack sleep and hurt their gpa's doing so, with no adjustments being made
to change. With the overwhelming amounts of studies that are being examined is why ... Show more

There three types of sleepers according to Kelly (2001). The three types being short sleeper, average
sleepers, and long sleepers. The three types described are the lengths compared to the average time a
student should sleep. The idea behind Potts–Datema (2005) is that students who sleep for sometime
should be fine. The length can vary, but if a student gets some time to sleep is fine, because they at
least get some sleep, no matter the length they sleep. Kelly (2001) also found the out of the three
type of sleepers that the short sleeper, the ones who sleep less than the average time they should,
that they have the lowest grade point average compared to the other two types. Also, the average
sleepers, who sleep the average time and the long sleepers, who sleep longer than the average time
they should, both have significantly higher grade point averages. But, between the average and long
sleepers, the long sleepers have a slightly high grade point average. Therefore, the length of sleep is
necessary to a higher extend, than just being able to get some time to sleep. Also, the reaction and
response time of the student depends on the length of which they sleep (Chiang 2014; Kelly, 2001).
They both also found that the reaction and response time of a short sleepers are more delayed than
an average and long sleepers are. Also, a long sleeper has the best reaction and response time, due to
they got to rest and regain their energy back, and not be drowsy like short sleepers would be and
sometimes an average student would. They have more time to rest their whole body and mind, to be
refreshed when

The Deviation Of Bid Prices
deviation of bid prices (a commonly used measure of dispersion in literature), quality weighted
BPD, distribution weighed BPD, and BPD with legitimate bids as alternative measures to check the
robustness of the measurement of BPD. We also note that measurement error is not a concern for all
other variables as our data was directly pulled from the firm database and the data recorded actual
transactions and the buyers' and freelancers' behaviors in the online labor market.
4.3.2 "Buyer Contracting" Model Specification
Since our dependent variable (buyer contract) is a binary variable, we estimate a logit model with
robust standard errors (Equation 3). is the latent utility a buyer i infers from project j. captures the
effect of BPD on the buyer's contract decisions. is a vector of the average freelancer's characteristics
like average experience, mean quality rating (control variables that affect the DV), and quality
dispersion (potential confounding factor that affects both the DV and BPD). The freelancer's average
experience and mean quality rating represents the average quality of the freelancers that a project
attracts. A buyer would have more high–quality freelancers to choose from with a higher average
experience and mean rating, which may facilitate the buyer's contracting decision. Freelancer quality
dispersion is measured as the standard deviation of all freelancers' rating (or experience), which
represents the diversity of choices a buyer has; thus, it is

Production Planning Report
Production Planning
Introduction
The intention of this project is to demonstrate the function of production planning in a non –
artificial environment. Through this simulation we are able to forecast, with a degree of certainty the
monthly requirements for end products, subassemblies, parts and raw materials. We are supplied
with information that we are to base our decisions on. The manufacturer depicted in this simulation
was actually a General Electric facility that produced black and white television sets Syracuse, New
York. Unfortunately this plant is no longer operational, it was closed down and the equipment was
shipped off to China. One can only wonder if the plant manager would have taken Professor Moily's

Next we calculate the labor that goes into transforming these parts into a viable end product. We get
a total of six hours of running man hours/unit and an hourly labor rate of $8.50, which gives us a
total of fifty–one dollars. This gives a minimal total cost of
$101 to produce product one. This number is useful in determining how much a unit actually cost to
manufacture and what we must minimally sell the product for to make a profit. We can than analyze
if a product costs to much to make or the sum of the parts is more than the price of the end product.
Product eight had the lowest direct minimum cost ($89.50) and four had the highest minimal direct
cost. From a purely economic stand point, it would be beneficial to use as much of raw material
twenty–three ($5 unit) and as little of raw material twenty–two ($30 unit). This does not consider
that raw material twenty–two may actually be more valuable than raw material twenty–three.
Perhaps raw material twenty two may be gold or silver and raw material twenty–three may be sand
or glass. I also converted all information in the sales history per month (figure four of the
MANMAN packet). The purpose of this step was so that I could sort and add the sales numbers to
chronicle the past twenty four months. Clearly product one was the best–selling apparatus, and
product three, four and five where sales laggards. Entering the information into spreadsheet form

Suitable Sample Of Quantitative Data For The Business...
Introduction "Activity data is a form of human actions that can be converted into a computer to
show actionable insight into that data. To analysis and interpret this data brings a broader picture to
a business mind frame, set decisions and challenges."(Kay, D. & Harmelen, M. V. 2015) Suitable
sample of quantitative data for the business scenario In this scenario, the data is inappropriate for a
business quantitative sample because the information was obtained during the highest peak of the
season. The information obtained is a preconceived notion based on the highest peak of the
company's business. The data is not accurate to use because the highest peak of the season is based
on just a few weeks, not a full year which makes this information bias. By using this information, it
suggests to customers that the café receives this amount of business throughout the year.
Researchers have argued that having an ample enough of data is to be based on a professional
sampling technique. A professional sampling technique is a formula that stands as being unbiased,
with this technique this would be the best way to attain a clear and suitable decision. Zikmund
formula is based on levels of assurance and estimated sampling error (Mlane, n.d). The factors that
would affect the validity of data set The factors that would affect the validity of the data set are
based on the instability of the café ability to have a consistent flow of guests. With the café unable to

Examples Of Lorenz Curve
Lorenze Curve
The Lorenz curve originated from the early part of the twentiteth century when Max Otto Lorenz
published a paper in 1905 in an American statistical journal outlining the technique which was to
bear his name. However, it was the work on poverty and income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson
during the 1970s that led to the popular dissemination and development of the original work of
Lorenz.
The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in economics to show
the distribution of income or wealth among the population. It is a grapgh of cumulative percentage
wealth, income or some other measure of wealth , against cumulative percentage of population. For
instance, we can use this curve to determine the fairness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard framework will be developed in four stages.
First, we convert the wealth into percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage
of wealth. We also convert the population also into percentages and accumulate them to get the
cumulative percentage of population. You can skip this step if all these have been provided with the
question.
Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is measured along the Y–
axis while the cumulative percentage of household is measured along the X–axis. Usually the
graph's axes are closed off to from a box.
We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the relationship will be
such that as we move along the x–axis, each 10 percent of household would own additional 10
percent of wealth. In this case, the line we would be a straight line emanating from the origin Point
(0,0) to Point (100,100). This line is known as the line of absolute equality.
Finally, Plot the cumulative percentage of population against cumulative percentage of wealth. In
this case, the line will bow away from the line of absolute equality. The more unequal the society is,
the further it will deviate away from the line of absolute

The Importance Of A Student 's Grade Point Average Essay
There has been much research done on if a student's grade point average (GPA) is influenced in
anyway based on their sociability. For this study the operational definition for sociability is if
someone goes more then three days a week and is involved in extra curricular activities more then
three days is considered sociable. From looking at past research there are also other factors that
could influence a students GPA, such as popularity, aggression, sleepiness, etc. Many would say that
a student with a high GPA, 3.0 or higher are likely to be less sociable then students with a lower
GPA of a 2.9 or lower. This is an important topic to study because it will allow researchers to find
out how much time students should really spend being social without it effecting their overall grade
in a negative way. For students this is useful information for when it comes time on deciding how
many hours they should put into their work rather then going out to be with friends. There is a lot of
past research that has been conducted for this study. Predicators of popularity and social acceptance
can influence academic engagement. In a sample of 342 adolescents in a public school whose
average age was fourteen were followed for four consecutive semesters by researchers who looked
at the relationship between popularity, aggression and grade point average. (Schwartz, Gorman,
Nakamoto, & McKay, 2006). At the end of the study it was found that adolescents who were highly
aggressive had an

Grade Point Average Essay
Grade point average (GPA) indicates a student's academic achievement. In college, an 'A' in a class
earns you four points, a B earns you three points, etc. For each semester class you take in college,
you earn three credits once you pass the class. GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of
grade points by the total number of credits earned. So the question is: should students' grades in
school gym class affect their grade point average? A gym grade should NOT be included in
calculating GPA. Gym is not an academic class. Gym is a physical education class. From my
observation, under some teachers, students do nothing in gym class and still earn A's. Why should
they earn a credit for doing nothing? The purpose of gym class should be to encourage a healthier
lifestyle. For other students who are unfortunate enough to get a gym teacher who actually has
requirements for earning grades, gym class can be a downfall. That is because some students are not
as athletic as other students. It seems unfair to pull down a student's academically earned GPA when
he does not perform well in gym class, especially when he has spent so much time and energy in

large number of bullying incidents go in the gym. Students can go all day without bullying someone.
When gym class starts, that is when students, girls in particular, begin to bother someone. Bullying
is a serious matter. The students that are being bullied start to skip class or just miss school. It affects
their GPA, because they are absent from gym and are not there to receive that credit. When students

Personal Narrative: My Grade Point Average
Although I was able to obtain a degree in five years after attending five colleges, I do not think my
grade point average accurately reflects my potential. Looking back I can see where I caved in to
distractions whether it was extra baseball practice, hanging out with my friends, and several more.
Fortunately after many U–Haul trips to a new city, for a new college, I was able to graduate with a
bachelors of science and enlist into the Army.
At the conclusion of my military service I decided to go back for another degree that I would enjoy
in the civilian sector. I would like to note that my Fall 2012 semester was conducted online while
deployed in Afghanistan for half the semester, which concluded with a 4.0 grade point average. I
hope that my grades during this semester show the hard work, dedication and fortitude that maturity
and the Army engrained into me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

College Grade Point Average
At our meeting on November 15 while we were discussing the preliminary analysis of college grade
point average(GPA), you asked if we might be able to use the data to predict the overall GPA based
on computer science GPA. We reanalyzed the data for this purpose and want to share the results with
you.
We conducted a statistical test to analyze the relationship between college overall GPA and
computer science GPA. We examined the overall GPA and computer science GPA of 105 students
who graduated with a B.S. in computer science. In this data set, it shows that computer science GPA
has a high positive correlation to the overall GPA. The coefficient of determination equals to
88.12%, which means 88.12% of the variation in overall college GPA is explained by the
independent variable computer science GPA. There is a correlation between the two variables.
The analysis of this limited data set reveals that: 1) if a student gets a 0 GPA in computer science, it
is likely that he/she would obtain a 0.59 overall GPA and, 2) for every one–point computer science
increases, there is approximately 0.82 increase in overall GPA. For example, the computer science
GPA for a student is 3, we can predict the overall GPA as: 0.82 x 3 + 0.59 = 3.05. The scatterplot
chart (Figure 1) below shows the linear relationship by drawing an ideal line through the data with
the least amount of distance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The blue dots represent the GPA each student gets. It is seen that students with a lower computer
science GPA usually received a lower overall GPA. Based on the data gathered from 105 students,
we came up with a formula for predicted college overall GPA, which is y = 0.8249x + 0.5924. It is
shown in a red dotted line in figure 1. According to this formula, there is an increase of 0.82 in the
overall GPA for each point increases in computer science

Samsung's Competitive Advantage
1. Does Samsung have a competitive advantage? If so, how are they creating added–value compared
to industry competitors? Make sure to quantify your claims. (In answering this question, you will
find helpful information in exhibits 6–7k (but not only there)). a. Compare Samsung's "value stick"
to that of an "industry average" competitor and briefly justify any differences. (Remember that
willingness–to–pay and willingness–to–supply are generally unobservable, but you can still engage
in informed speculation.) b. Propose potential explanations for the higher WTP/P and/or lower
C/WTS of Samsung. (Recall that with Walmart we discussed the squeezing of suppliers vs. more
efficient operations as potential sources of their low cost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Samsung's efficiency was also driven by the quality of its employees. All R&D and production
engineers lived together in the same company–provided housing, which lead to quick design,
resolve and process any issues in design or production which in turn led to quick turnaround time,
lower idle times and increased productivity. Also, the site was located in the mountains where the air
was fresh and clean, which meant lower maintenance costs since most machinery was highly
sensitive to dust and other particles
Second, the Human Resources promotion policies have shifted from their more traditional structure
(seniority) towards a meritocratic system where highly skilled managers can be promoted as soon as
eligible. Samsung has also heavily invested in employees' global business skills through various
internal mobility and specializing programs. All these employee centric advancements ultimately
drove innovation in product design and process efficiency higher than its competitors.
Third, Samsung created new uses for DRAM by outing its manufacturing and R&D in support of
design firms (i.e., Rambus). Over the years, new DRAM products were launched which shared a
common core design. This way, more DRAM chips were produced and sold, helping the company,
not only to achieve larger economies of scale, but also to learn more about the market and its
preferences.
Fourth, the production was also

Grade Point Average Gpa
Should or should not grade point average determine whether who is allowed to attend any Ivy
League college? Grade point averages, also known as GPA, start in high school. Everyone knows a
4.0 is the perfect GPA. A good decent standard GPA is either a 2.25 or a 2.5. Those GPA's are the
minimum of what most colleges accept and other high–ranking colleges accept 3.0 GPA's a
minimum or higher. Some students attend class every day and do the work but sometimes not
always get the best grade because some people aren't very good with certain subjects and that will
lower your GPA and ruin your chances into getting into a good college. Not saying every college
isn't a good college, but a lot of students want to get into big universities such as, Texas

Studies show that college students do exceptionally well when they are around other individuals they can relate to, a kinship, such as students attending a Head Black College University (HBCU) or Primary White College University (PWCU). • 5. How to Lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff I just finished reading really interesting book, How to lie with Statistics by Darrel Huff. This books is all about a good cheat sheet to cheat with numbers. The moment someone mentions Statistics, the most often seen reaction is a big yawn or a sigh of disbelief. This is because people come across all kinds of statistical interpretations all the time such as in advertisement or marketing journals. This sense of disbelief is because the reader can not verify the truthfulness behind presented numbers. The assumption always is that the person talking about the number or statistics knows what he or she is talking about because it is proven fact by statistical studies. Even if that is not the case, it is very easy to be lost among the number, when they are represented as an averages, percentages, year–on–year growth, or percentage points which can make the person talking about these seem either very good or very bad. And this does not seem to have changed from 1954, when the book was first published. The book is about helping readers see throughout these marketing tricks. Also, to be able to ask the right questions and when to dismiss a statistics as faulty. It is a field manual to beat the cheaters in their worn game. This is a delightful book with just 150 pages and 10 chapters each with a specific theme. The book starts with the origin of the statistics problems, the sample. • 15. Grade Point Average Goal My ultimate goal for this semester is to get a 4.0 grade point average. I feel like if I start this semester strong, I will continue to get good grade throughout college. In addition, to be competition in the future when applying to graduate school I need to have a perfect grade point average. I will get a 4.0 by turning in assignments on time so that I do not miss any. Most importantly I will study my notes for all my classes everyday before and after class, so that it helps me understand the material. This will also make it easier and less stressful to study for quizzes and exams, because by studying material ahead of time I will have a good understanding and memory of the material. I will keep my self on track by always reminding myself how much of a competition I want to be when I apply to graduate school. I find this to motivate me to a great extent. I also have a goal to finish homework the day they are assigned. I want to do this because I do not want to procrastinate. I have noticed that if I tell myself I will do it later I will not do it until the day before the homework is due. One thing I will do to reach this goal, is by using the majority of my free time in–between classes to start and finish homework. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was the worst thing I did in high school. This is because it would take me hours to actually wake up from my nap, which would lead to less time to do homework. This caused my homework to pile up and caused my stress to increase. This year I am going to avoid this by doing my homework when ever I am free on campus so that I can go home and sleep without having to wake up to start or finish assignments. Introduction In order to analyze the trend of the relationship between extracurricular activities and grade point averages, historical perspectives will be explored. This chapter addresses why grade point averages have become so vital to students' future success. Association among peer acceptance, positive behaviours, character building, and G.P.A. are also included. Finally, the proven benefits of curricular activities found in recent studies will be described. 2.0.1. LITERATURE REVIEW. Academics are an important part of each student's University years, especially since University grades play an integral role in promising jobs acceptance. Parents spend a lot of time encouraging their teens to study more and play less in the pursuit of this goal. They believe that devoting a great deal of time to studying guarantees success in future jobs applications. The purpose of this study is to explore and widen the knowledge of everyone on how being involved in extra–curricular activities can influence development in academics, social skills and completion. Determining the long–lasting effects of extracurricular activities may help parents and students understand how participation can impact students ' development now and in the future. • 19. The Absenteeism and Its Statistical Significance and... Introduction The below information contains the factors that influences absenteeism in the workplace that we are dealing with in this practical. The regression standard format that we will also provide with these factors helps us to understand technically these factors and to make a clear meaning of these factors economically. The randomly selected sample of 100 (one hundred) companies are going to help us to save time and money to actually use it as an estimate for the entire companies (population). This is the estimate of a regression model to examine the factors that influence employee absenteeism. The data was collected from 100 randomly selected companies. The key definitions are as follows. Y = Average number of days absent per ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The higher the absenteeism for whatever reason, the lower the output and the lower the profit. This could be even dangerous to employees as well because when the profit is contracting they might be retrenched from work. Descriptive Statistics Analysis The separate XY scatterplots, in the Appendix, show that the relationship between Y and all the X 's is consistent with economic theory although all the relationships appear to have very weak linear relationships. The average employee wage (X2) as well as the percentage of part time employees in a company (X3) shows weak negative non– linear relationship, and the percentage of unionized employees in a company (X4) shows a weak positive linear relationship. As the average employee wages (X2) increase the incentive to work harder decreases. Employees earning lower wages tend to take fewer absent days and work harder than those earning higher wages. As the percentage of part time employees (X3) increase in can be seen, in the scatterplot, that the average number of days absent per employee (Y) decreases. Part time workers have more of an incentive to work harder than full time employees, therefore it is expected that average number of days absent per employee (Y) should decrease as the percentage of part time employees increases. As the percentage of unionized employees in a company (X4) increases it can be seen, from the scatterplot, which the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Geographic Features And Spatial Distribution Essay In two–dimensional space, geographic features have spatial references. Central tendency must incorporate the coordinates that define the location of the features or objects. This in the spatial context will be the mean center, the weighted mean center, or the median center of a spatial point distribution. There is no essential correct way of calculating the center of spatial distribution (no one correct way to calculate in all situations, although appropriate methods to calculate for various settings. The interpretation of the result of the calculation can be determined by the nature of the problem. The mean center is the average location of a set of points. These points can represent regional subdivisions, landslides, water wells, and such in a region. It is the geographic center of the set of observations. In the study area, the average of X–bar and Y–bar coordinate is taken of all the features/observations. The mean center of X and Y are X–bar and Y–bar respectively. For the i–th observation of object, Xi and Yi are the coordinates and n is the number of observations. The weighted mean center is the measure of the weighted geographic center of the set of observations, as the weighted average Xw–bar and Yw–bar coordinate are seen of the features/observations in the study area. Xw–bar and Yw–bar are the weighted mean center of X and Y (respectively), Xi and Yi are the coordinates for the i–th observation, and wi is the weight. For example, the population in the i–th ... • 23. The Statistical Phenomenon Regression Of An English... The statistical phenomenon Regression to the Mean is present when a condition reaches a high degree as it is first observed, then reverts to the average when later observed. It is also present when a condition remains average during the first observation and fluctuates highly during the second. This regression effect is common within any element that oscillates irregularly within quantity and quality over time. The definition of the word "regression" is to return to a former state. In this theory, a variable often returns to an average value after it reaches a high value, or when a variable that begins at a low value it tends to reach the average afterward. An English Victorian statistician by the name of Francis Galton refined this theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After studying the heights of parents in relation to the height of their children, Galton realized that tall parents will have children who are taller than the average height but not as tall as them. He also found that short parents often have short kids, but not as short as they are (Ellenberg, 301). These results allowed Galton to recognize the natural phenomenon of Regression to the Mean. He then published his results in 1889 in a book he wrote entitled Natural Inheritance. In the book Galton discussed that the regression theory is a natural occurrence as a result of inheritance and fortuity. It was then understood that this theory is relevant to numerous variable beyond human traits. The regression to the mean theory is applied commonly today when studying patterns such as athletic performance and intellectual achievement. In Siddharth Kalla's article "Regression Toward the Mean," he discusses a frequent trend within Olympic athletes who have been awarded gold medals and continue to compete. "Olympic gold medalists tend to have a dip in performance...this is because they were the ones hitting their peak in performance in the Olympics and therefore also gets much attention afterward, because people expect more from these athletes" (Kalla). Okay, it time for me to wake up and get back to reality. Being famous is what every child dreams of becoming, and maybe one day that will come true; but for now, it is time to study. A college education will construct the foundation for my adulthood, my ideal person, and my future. The goal is to be successful in life, and I believe college is one way to get there. I will be the finest person I can be and accomplish what is necessary to get there. By putting forth one hundred percent effort, I will be soaring over these said mountains that stand in my way. The next item on the docket past high school is college for most. I judge that furthering my education can lead to many successful job opportunities. They say the higher the degree, the better the money. In some cases, yes; however, I suppose occasionally one must work up the social ladder. I need these college years, even if it does not work out for me in the end, the experience would be well worth it. • 41. Correlation Between Iq And The Grade Point Average Of... Essay 2 Research shows that there is a correlation that shows the relationshop between the IQ and the grade point average of students. It was found that the correlation is strong at a .75 because it's a direct relationship. For instance when someone has a higher IQ they are more likely going to have a higher GPA. However although the correlation shows a higher IQ means higher GPA does not mean that is the only reason the GPA is rising, it could be because they hired a tutor, have been studying more or are maybe just in more interesting classes. In correlation studies they show that there is a relationship between two different variables however it is not evidence or proof in any way. The reason it isn't proof is because it has not been proven that they are directly the reason for the relationship however that they do have common results. Some of the reasons correlation cannot prove anything is because of the limitations; these would be the lack of information about the correlation, sample size or the standard deviation. In our text it states "If the word correlation is broken down co–relation it is expresses what is meant: The characteristics are related and the evidence for the relationship is that they vary together, or co–vary. As the level of one variable changes, the other changes in concert, this happens because both variables contain some of the same information. The higher the correlation the more they may have in common" (Tanner,2011). When looking at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By 1987, however, profits reached a high of 2.16% of sales. In 1989, with profit before taxes at a dismal 1.3% of sales and falling, the shadow of a recession in car buying loomed dark and ominous. The average gross profit as a percent of sales also indicates a bleak outlook [SEE EXHIBIT 5]. In 1988 the top 100 megadealers in the U.S. controlled nearly 13% of total new car sales. Suppose a player averages a 23 points per game. Is that a good player, a bad player, or s great player? A good coach will know that base of this limited information it will be impossible to answer that question. Basketball is more than scoring. Players can block shots, rebound missed shots, steal the ball, and assist others on scoring. They can also make a number of mistakes that benefit their opponents. Grade Point Average Research Sleep Affects Your Grade–Point Average, More Than You Think Introduction Research has shown that one's grade point average is directly correlated to one's sleep (Chiang, 2014; Hershner & Chervin, 2014). Along with that, sleep affects one's grade point average through a psychological standpoint, as in the brain's functionality (Kelly, 2001; Milan 2005). Where on the other hand, others say that sleep length have nothing to do with grade point average at all, it's due a lack of commitment to work and study hard, in an efficient way. The three types being short sleeper, average sleepers, and long sleepers. The three types described are the lengths compared to the average time a student should sleep. The idea behind Potts–Datema (2005) is that students who sleep for sometime should be fine. The length can vary, but if a student gets some time to sleep is fine, because they at least get some sleep, no matter the length they sleep. Kelly (2001) also found the out of the three type of sleepers that the short sleeper, the ones who sleep less than the average time they should, that they have the lowest grade point average compared to the other two types. Also, the average sleepers, who sleep the average time and the long sleepers, who sleep longer than the average time they should, both have significantly higher grade point averages. But, between the average and long sleepers, the long sleepers have a slightly high grade point average. Therefore, the length of sleep is necessary to a higher extend, than just being able to get some time to sleep. Also, the reaction and response time of the student depends on the length of which they sleep (Chiang 2014; Kelly, 2001). They both also found that the reaction and response time of a short sleepers are more delayed than an average and long sleepers are. Also, a long sleeper has the best reaction and response time, due to they got to rest and regain their energy back, and not be drowsy like short sleepers would be and sometimes an average student would. A buyer would have more high–quality freelancers to choose from with a higher average experience and mean rating, which may facilitate the buyer's contracting decision. The manufacturer depicted in this simulation was actually a General Electric facility that produced black and white television sets Syracuse, New York. Next we calculate the labor that goes into transforming these parts into a viable end product. We get a total of six hours of running man hours/unit and an hourly labor rate of $8.50, which gives us a total of fifty–one dollars. This gives a minimal total cost of $101 to produce product one. This number is useful in determining how much a unit actually cost to manufacture and what we must minimally sell the product for to make a profit. We can than analyze if a product costs to much to make or the sum of the parts is more than the price of the end product. Product eight had the lowest direct minimum cost ($89.50) and four had the highest minimal direct cost. From a purely economic stand point, it would be beneficial to use as much of raw material twenty–three ($5 unit) and as little of raw material twenty–two ($30 unit). This does not consider that raw material twenty–two may actually be more valuable than raw material twenty–three. Perhaps raw material twenty two may be gold or silver and raw material twenty–three may be sand or glass. I also converted all information in the sales history per month (figure four of the MANMAN packet). Introduction "Activity data is a form of human actions that can be converted into a computer to show actionable insight into that data. To analysis and interpret this data brings a broader picture to a business mind frame, set decisions and challenges."(Kay, D. & Harmelen, M. V. 2015) Suitable sample of quantitative data for the business scenario In this scenario, the data is inappropriate for a business quantitative sample because the information was obtained during the highest peak of the season. The information obtained is a preconceived notion based on the highest peak of the company's business. The data is not accurate to use because the highest peak of the season is based on just a few weeks, not a full year which makes this information bias. By using this information, it suggests to customers that the café receives this amount of business throughout the year. Researchers have argued that having an ample enough of data is to be based on a professional sampling technique. A professional sampling technique is a formula that stands as being unbiased, with this technique this would be the best way to attain a clear and suitable decision. However, it was the work on poverty and income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson during the 1970s that led to the popular dissemination and development of the original work of Lorenz. The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in economics to show the distribution of income or wealth among the population. Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is measured along the Y– axis while the cumulative percentage of household is measured along the X–axis. Usually the graph's axes are closed off to from a box. We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the relationship will be such that as we move along the x–axis, each 10 percent of household would own additional 10 percent of wealth. • 67. The Importance Of A Student 's Grade Point Average Essay There has been much research done on if a student's grade point average (GPA) is influenced in anyway based on their sociability. For this study the operational definition for sociability is if someone goes more then three days a week and is involved in extra curricular activities more then three days is considered sociable. From looking at past research there are also other factors that could influence a students GPA, such as popularity, aggression, sleepiness, etc. Many would say that a student with a high GPA, 3.0 or higher are likely to be less sociable then students with a lower GPA of a 2.9 or lower. This is an important topic to study because it will allow researchers to find out how much time students should really spend being social without it effecting their overall grade in a negative way. For students this is useful information for when it comes time on deciding how many hours they should put into their work rather then going out to be with friends. There is a lot of past research that has been conducted for this study. Predicators of popularity and social acceptance can influence academic engagement. In a sample of 342 adolescents in a public school whose average age was fourteen were followed for four consecutive semesters by researchers who looked at the relationship between popularity, aggression and grade point average. • 69. Grade Point Average Essay Grade point average (GPA) indicates a student's academic achievement. In college, an 'A' in a class earns you four points, a B earns you three points, etc. For each semester class you take in college, you earn three credits once you pass the class. GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of grade points by the total number of credits earned. So the question is: should students' grades in school gym class affect their grade point average? A gym grade should NOT be included in calculating GPA. Gym is not an academic class. Gym is a physical education class. From my observation, under some teachers, students do nothing in gym class and still earn A's. Why should they earn a credit for doing nothing? The purpose of gym class should be to encourage a healthier lifestyle. For other students who are unfortunate enough to get a gym teacher who actually has requirements for earning grades, gym class can be a downfall. That is because some students are not as athletic as other students. • 76. College Grade Point Average At our meeting on November 15 while we were discussing the preliminary analysis of college grade point average(GPA), you asked if we might be able to use the data to predict the overall GPA based on computer science GPA. We reanalyzed the data for this purpose and want to share the results with you. We conducted a statistical test to analyze the relationship between college overall GPA and computer science GPA. We examined the overall GPA and computer science GPA of 105 students who graduated with a B.S. in computer science. In this data set, it shows that computer science GPA has a high positive correlation to the overall GPA. The coefficient of determination equals to 88.12%, which means 88.12% of the variation in overall college GPA is explained by the independent variable computer science GPA. There is a correlation between the two variables. The analysis of this limited data set reveals that: 1) if a student gets a 0 GPA in computer science, it is likely that he/she would obtain a 0.59 overall GPA and, 2) for every one–point computer science increases, there is approximately 0.82 increase in overall GPA. For example, the computer science GPA for a student is 3, we can predict the overall GPA as: 0.82 x 3 + 0.59 = 3.05. Samsung's efficiency was also driven by the quality of its employees. All R&D and production engineers lived together in the same company–provided housing, which lead to quick design, resolve and process any issues in design or production which in turn led to quick turnaround time, lower idle times and increased productivity. Also, the site was located in the mountains where the air was fresh and clean, which meant lower maintenance costs since most machinery was highly sensitive to dust and other particles Second, the Human Resources promotion policies have shifted from their more traditional structure (seniority) towards a meritocratic system where highly skilled managers can be promoted as soon as eligible. Samsung has also heavily invested in employees' global business skills through various internal mobility and specializing programs. All these employee centric advancements ultimately drove innovation in product design and process efficiency higher than its competitors. Third, Samsung created new uses for DRAM by outing its manufacturing and R&D in support of design firms (i.e., Rambus).
