The Right Wing Ideologues Are An Extremely Diverse Group
The right wing ideologues are an extremely diverse group. Within the U.S alone there are
libertarians (those who 's believe the government is too large both economically and socially.),
traditionalist, militarists (those who believe that the military is of the ultimate importance to society
and think it should be used more), moderates and many other groups. In international terms the
groups that are farthest to the right are known as reactionaries. Reactionaries are usually set apart
from traditionalists in that unlike traditionalist who seek to preserve current traditions, reactionaries
actively seek to restore past traditions. For example, someone who seeks to protect a countries
monarchy would be a traditionalist, while someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most libertarians support a reduction of traditional and religious power while at the same time
usually supporting things that will result in a smaller and less active government such as legalization
of drugs, an end to most wars, and a reduction in overall governmental influence and power.
Libertarians are usually unconcerned about the power of corporations and tend to support measures
that result in the government having less control over corporations and the economy. A few
libertarians also favor general reductions to entitlement and benefit programs. Moderates are those
who while still clearly on the right wing of politics, tend to be closer to the center in there opinions
and more willing to compromise. In general moderates tend to hold the same beliefs but to a lesser
degree. Most forms of militarism are usually found on the right wing of politics. The number of pure
militarists is usually small as most people tend to support other issues in conjunction with
militarism, In general any of the above ideologies can have a militarism added onto it. As with right
wing ideologies, left wing ideologies are very diverse. In the United States however, most left wing
ideologies get little to no representation. Those who are farthest to the left, tend to be communists
and anarchists. While both groups have the abolition of government as

Group Reflection Paper
What did you learn by working together in your group?
It was very interesting to work together in my group. I learnt more deeply about the African
American issue. All members in my group was very supportive. We collaborate with each other in a
timely manner. The biggest fear I had working in a group environment was the conflict. There was
no conflict because we all shared our thoughts and problems with each other. That makes this group
experience great.
What did you learn from each others' Group Project Abstracts?
The group 2 worked on African Americans racism issue. They beautifully present their abstract
through PowerPoint. I didn't know that Colin Kaepernick had sat in 2 other occasions before the
nation got attention. Also, I really liked how they present the other players kneeling incidents. It is
interesting to know that White American World Cup Winner Megan Rapinoe also follows the Colin
Kaepernick.
The group 3 worked on DACA issue. Their abstract is very informative. I really liked the graph

product [GDP] over the next decade–economic growth that would be lost were DACA to be

families apart. Instead of deporting the DACA immigrants we need to make changes in the
immigrations policies to make the American economy strong. The group 2 issue of inequality in
injustice that have created many problems for the African Americans. In order to make this country
a better place to live we need to give African Americans same right and freedom that White
Americans have. I agree with them we need to teach people against racism. By educating people

Small Group Analysis Essay
Introduction:
When people think of a "group" they think of the amount of people but not the way they work
together. In the small group analysis I will first explain the roles of people and the type of leadership
that made us develop implicit and explicit norms. Second, I will talk about conflict, resolution
techniques and maintaining social and task orientation. Third, I will share strengths, weaknesses and
ways my group could have been more successful. Last, things I would have changed about the
interaction in our group and the grade I would give my group for the completion of the last
presentation.

war as our group consisted of 5 people there would be a majority and a minority. If anything we
tried to have a democratic leadership but it was more situational most of the time. I started the group
messaging and we all pretty much communicated through their sending or read imports and
feedback. As we expected Edvin to be the leader he was the one who helped proofread everyone's
written speech parts. We did not meet other than class time dedicated for this assignment. There was
only one time we met and did not leave of class was cancelled because the other time it was
cancelled we did not show up.
3. What implicit and explicit norms did your group develop? Why were these norms develop, and
how are they enforced by the group?
As we spoke in group time we developed implicit rules. For example, do not speak when another
group member is speaking. Everyone has a chance to share their ideas and should share if they like
or dislike an idea they feel that might or might not work. I think we all had good manners inculcated
in our childhood so we did not have problems with that. Plus we did not mind words of frustration
as it was not direct to any of us.
4. What conflict(s) did you group experience with this assignment? How did the group manage the
conflict(s)? What conflict resolution techniques were

Essay Comparing Vance And Yoshino
Psychology and Politics
Introduction
Personal memoirs used by both J.D. Vance and Yoshino's are basically an insight into their troubled
lives, which with gradual analysis turn into an anecdotal evidence on the basis of which they form
their arguments foe individual or collective liberty in the society they spent their early lives in.
While Yoshino's work is rather limited to a specific theme of a lack of liberty then wanting a right to
a different life as is presented in Vance's work. In Yoshino's amazing and exquisite work, acclaimed
Yale Law School educator Kenji Yoshino wires legitimate proclamation and beautiful journal to
require a redefinition of social liberties in our law and culture. Everybody covers. To cover is to
make light of a disfavored characteristic to mix into the standard. We as a whole experience the
burden to cover in our day by day lives since every one of us have disparaged characteristics. Given
its inescapability, we may encounter this weight to be a straightforward actuality of social life.

Vance's memoir also has a tinge of humor and sarcasm on the people he wrote about while Yoshino's
continues to be more emotionally moved. What seems quite common in the two memoirs is the
notion of conformity, which in both cases negative and resulting in exceptionally horrifying
circumstances. Yoshino talked about people moving away from civil rights to the conformity of
being one and the same. While Vance showed how conformity to the theme of 'Learned helplessness'
among those in the working class kept them at the bottom; suffering and actively contributing to
their sufferings.
The two authors opposed this conformity however with Yoshino, the situation was different, for
many gays eventually were ready to 'come out' to fight while the redneck hillbillies wanted it served

The Right Of The Group, Government And Equitable Treatment
In light of recent political events in Ferguson, Missouri, I have decided to eschew a contractually
focused paper, and to chime in on a more racially focused argument than what I would usually allow
myself. To address the question in the prompt above, my argument is as follows. The right of the
group, government or regulatory consensus must have the ability to supersede the rights of
individuals in matters pertaining to the economic interactions between them based on the historical
precedents set by the economic failures of individuals to support the obligations of the greater good.
The notions associated with laissez–faire capitalism, those of absolute individual freedom, self–

(Madison & Gouverner, 1878) With the addition of the Bill of Rights in 1789 and the first ten
amendments to the Constitution since its induction, these barriers and protections to the citizen and
principle arms of democratic society gained further definition. In this action, the proverbial war
between "Big" government, regulatory forces, and their counterparts in free–markets, laissez–faire
Capitalism, and ultimate rights of the individual had the stage set from where we find ourselves in
the United States today. However, the focus of this paper is more historically linear and
hypothetical, in that this is to attempt to find the answer to the rights of the "They", to supersede the
rights of the individual in matters of economic involvement in order to maintain an overarching
standard of "Justice" based on several following points. From its penning, John Rawls' theory of
Justice, states several foundational notions. First among them is the distinction that his concept of
justice is not to give rise to any one specific form of governmental power or structure. It is simply
the "principles that free and rational persons concerned to further their own interests would accept in
an initial position of equality as defining the fundamental terms of their association." This crux of
Rawls' argument in the "Original Position" is the moniker of Justice as Fairness, which is rooted
directly in the moment a shift

Group Value Analysis
For Human Communications group project, my group was accumulated of five members who
worked together to find the influence of Youtube in our culture. The group was organized into five
topics about Youtube to create a whole project. The project was split into the business, history,
blogging, music, and sports of Youtube. My group made thorough decisions, was engaging, had
little to no conflicts, and got our point across. I give my group members a high evaluation and
enjoyed discovering new topics, learning how to function within a small group, and realizing how to
apply communication techniques into real life situations.
My group was true to their opinions, work, and expectation of peers. Ethical communication was
exhibited in my small group. This means my group was focused on getting our work done while still
maintain reasonable relationships among group members. To generate ideas, my group used
brainstorming, which was a way to create and organize ideas and make sure everyone understands
the concept of it. Individually, my group used value analysis to develop ideas. Value analysis is to

This was caused difficulty in creating a concrete meeting time. Another issue was that a member
was visiting Florida the weekend before our presentation so it was tough to rehearse our project
without all our members there. The group however, was very flexible with our inconvenient
schedules and used every free moment to organize facts, schedule meeting times, and rehearse our
presentation. On the bright side, all members of the group knew their responsibilities and worked

Why Do Minority Groups Gain Equal Rights?
Society will not be at peace as long as its inferior members do not have the same, equal rights as the
superior ones. Minority groups not only want to be tolerated but also recognized. What I mean by
recognition is an acknowledgment of the differences among people that, nonetheless, ought to be
respected. If the dominant members of society merely neglect minorities, they will attempt to assert
themselves in an oppressive environment. Therefore, minorities need attention. If there is a lack of
attention, they may resort to more drastic actions, for example, robberies, vandalism or violence to
gain recognition. This principle seems to apply to recent terrorist attacks in Europe as well.
Refugees often live in separated camps and have little interaction

Interculturalism In Canada
Canada is portrayed as an open and liberal country accepting all, but there is evidence in our history
and presently that this is very untrue. For starters, we still have an Act which can eradicate rights of
Canadian citizens in the name of security. This Act, the Emergency Act, can only be used when there
are declared emergencies by the Cabinet and Parliament. It then must be tested, in the Reasonable
and Justified test in section 1 of the charter to see if certain rights can be justified to be taken away.
This very long process, while is difficult and still tries to protect Canadian citizens, still exists to
take rights away. The Emergency Act replaced the War Measures Act, which had been used three
times in Canadian history – World War One, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Collective rights are given to groups whose society threaten them with capitalism or individualism,
usually ensuring cultural preservation. As the Government's purpose is to work and protect the
people, the government is responsible to give these groups the collective rights they need. In Canada
we hold collective rights for the French, First Nation, and minority language rights allowing for
schools to be built in there is a large population of people in an area speaking a language. For
French Canadians, maintaining their language is important since this is how they maintain their
culture. In Quebec, there is a vastly different culture compared to the rest of Canada. The identity of
their province is just as important as their identity as Canadians. Other cultures in Quebec as not as
celebrated as encouraged in the rest of Canada, either. They even have their own distinct way of
running their provincial government. All of this has allowed for their culture to flourish despite
continuing American influence in Canada. First Nations people need collective rights because they
have a very different view compared to the Canadian government that needs to be represented in
parliament. As well as their rights first promised in the making of Canada. These rights have yet to
fully been acknowledged by the government of Canada and its people, which is

Leading In The Here And Now: Video Analysis
During the "Part III: Conflict and Summation" in the video Group Work: Leading in the Here and
Now (Association for Specialists in Group Work, n.d.), the group worked through a tremendous
amount of conflict. The main driving force for the conflict was based on self–disclosure that group
member Jean offered to the group, surrounding her feelings of anger and distrust with the other
members. Her comments sparked the group to investigate and explore their own feelings and
emotions not only towards Jean, but the group itself. Corey, Corey, and Corey (2010) noted that, "by
taking risks in disclosing here–and–now observations and reactions, members are actively creating
trust and making it possible to engage in deeper self–exploration," (p. 253). While Jean's comments
upset some individuals in the group, it initiated open and honest responses from the rest of the
group. Even though Jean was the primary driver of the conflict during this session, I was particularly
interested in Art's feedback and experience during the video. His personal self–disclosure and
involvement within the group conflict hit on the key points of this discussion post: personal
awareness and successful resolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the course of the video, as with all of the video's, I thought that Dr. Carroll was extremely
hands–off. While Art's observation was real for him, and the conflict itself eventually helped him
resolve his own issues within the group (authority), I did not see Dr. Carroll using Jean as a means
to engage the group in discussion. She was rather inactive during all of the videos, and allowed the
group to work out their differences amongst themselves. Her almost silent–observer role was
extremely non–confrontational, yet Art challenged her directly, addressing her authority

Women And Minority Groups During The Civil Rights Initiative
Women and minority groups in particular fields have been disadvantaged since there has been a
discrimination against them few years ago. Especially in the work fields, an issue regarding
inequality in public contracting, specifically in bidding, becomes a current debate among workers.
Since San Francisco allowed the city authorities to treat its bidding process differently though the
San Francisco's Public Contracting, cities that intended to eliminate such inequality might have
failed. This policy stated that the bid process proposed by women and minorities could be lowered
10 percent, compared to the normal bid that usually proposed by the majority and men. This policy
was no longer valid after a Proposition 209 or the California Civil Rights Initiative has been signed
in 1996. The state government was to not to involved issues that differentiate ethnicity, race, and
gender in public contracting, employment, as well as education. Since this Proposition 209 was
implemented by numerous cities and states, many people began to question its performances. There
was a case where a corporation (Rothe Development) owned by white people denied a bid since the
one who offered the bid was doing a violation. The United States Department of Defense (DoD) and
Department of the Air Force took 10 percent off the of its original bid price from International
Computers Telecommunications, Inc., a business owned by minorities, which is Korean. Later, this
case was brought to the court in

Rules And Order In William Golding's Lord Of The Flies
Rules and order support a society by preventing it from becoming corrupted. Having organization
and structure is very important in order to maintain a successful and civilized community. During
the Cold War, a school for boys are sent out on a plane to avoid the atomic bombs. While being
transported to safety, the plane crashes and the boys become trapped on a mysterious island. After
the crash, the boys gather everyone together and elect a chief to lead the group. The two candidates
running for chief are Ralph, a rational and kind hearted boy, and Jack, a determined, arrogant, and
aggressive figure. One of the other boys known as Piggy helps Ralph to give him logical advice to
help the group of boys get rescued. It is their job to form a society ... Show more content on

After the plane crashes, Ralph and Piggy stumble upon a conch shell and use it to call an assembly
to gather all the boys up. When blown through, the conch creates a roaring blare that allows
everyone to hear it. This conch becomes the most important motif since it keeps the boys organized.
This conch is also used to create order among the boys to signify who has the right to talk, that way
everyone has a chance to be heard without being interrupted. This is apparent when Ralph says,
"'And another thing. We can't have everybody talking at once. We'll have to have 'Hands up' like at
school'... 'And he won't be interrupted. Except by me.' Jack was on his feet. 'We'll have rules!' he
cried excitedly. 'Lots of rules!'" (Golding 33). This rule associated with the conch helps the boys to
maintain a civilized structure by demanding the boys to give respect. Every time the conch is blown,
the boys gather and anytime anyone wants to speak during these assemblies, they hold the shell. By
instilling these 2 guidelines, all the boys have the opportunity to accept power and respect. To keep
control in the group, the boys decide to run their society similar to an autocracy. All the boys agree
electing a chief to lead the group will be the most effective way to stay organized and civilized until
they are rescued. This is evident when Jack says, "' We've got to decide about being rescued'...
'seems we ought to have a chief to decide things'"(22). By appointing a leader to guide the boys it
will keep the chaos contained and encourage the boys to remain cordial towards each other and
avoid barbaric behavior. Ralph and Jack both want the title of chief, however, when all the boys
vote, Ralph is the clear cut winner. Electing a leader and using the conch to summon the group
together are very important if the boys want to protect their civilized life

Reflection Paper
For as long as I can remember, I've always been a quiet child. I hated the way I speak and I still do.
What I say never matches up to what I think and it is never organized. I hate it when I talk and my
heart rapidly races or my stomach begins to hurt out of nowhere. I regret growing up to where I am
now with that trait because I feel unhappy with myself and my mind is plagued with negative
thoughts as a result. I worry about the future to the point where I can't focus on the present. These
thoughts built up and came crashing down during the time I had to present with my group in front of
my teacher during 8th grade for the first round of National History Day. I was nervous, frustrated,
and worried. It was the third time we had to present in front of her and I had another project due to
her the next day which I needed to work on badly. However, the thoughts in which I tried hard to
store away broke loose. When it was my turn to explain my part, I made a mistake and laughed it
off. I continued again and messed up. I laughed. I laughed until I started to cry in front of the class.
My teacher and teammates comforted me even though I didn't want their sympathy. However, the
fact that they cared for me gave me strength. I wanted to be more confident in myself and to achieve
that, I had to be more positive which made me become a nicer person. With this new and improved
version of myself, my team and I won the first round of NHD, which is called Baltimore City

Personal Narrative: The Epic Tale Of Beowulf
This story begins with me stumbling into my High School senior English course, Senior English B.
It was the first class of the day, starting roughly at 8:00 am, I was never too thrilled to be up around
this time, even to this day. The day was hot and sunny, as per usual in the sunny vista that is
Phoenix, Arizona. At this point and time in my life, I was just waiting for High School to end;
moving on to larger avenues was the most important thing on my mind. Every day I had these
thoughts in my mind, and today was no different. As I took my seat in the back of the musty and old
classroom that was barely maintained over the years, our teacher, Mr. Burns began telling us about
our next assignment. Everyone groaned, just wanting the onslaught of work to finally come to an
end. In retrospect, the work was only truly just beginning. The assignment was to be a group effort,
each group to contain five people. As a class, we had just finished reading the epic tale of Beowulf,
and for our group assignment we had to present a section of the story to the class in a fun and more
enjoyable format. Mr. Burns had listed some possible choices: Jeopardy, board games, replaying the
section in a theatre format. Dread was all I could feel at this point. Seventeen–year–old me just

The Assessment Of Individual Rights Within Cultural Groups...
Susan Okin passionately argues for the assessment of individual rights within cultural groups.
Particularly, she hopes for an implementation of feminist values into all cultures, especially minority
cultures living within a liberal majority. Many cultural minorities propose special group rights,
which would allow them to continue their practices even if it goes against the cultural majority's
values and laws. These group rights would not apply to anyone outside the minority culture, though
Okin would argue that for many cases, these group rights should not be extended to the minority
culture in the first place. As a foundation, Okin defines feminism as "the belief that women should
not be disadvantaged by their sex, that they should be recognized as having human dignity equal to
that of men, and that they should have the opportunity to live as fulfilling and as freely chosen lives
as men can" (Okin 10). Therefore, Okin asserts that any minority culture, living within a liberal,
feminist culture, that has any practice that perpetuates disadvantaging their women or actively
withholds them from having as free of lives as men, should be reconsidered when they ask for group
rights. As an example, we can imagine a 14–year–old girl and her parents who move from Sierra
Leone to the United States. In Sierra Leone, the practice of female circumcision is customary, and
after talking it over with her mother, the girl expresses a wish to be circumcised. A social service

Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of...
In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that 'special'
privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe
upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several
aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation–building, and identity. These three
characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights
in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the
concept of multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as "an
umbrella term for the claims of these ethnocultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When
minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it
denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream
culture contrary to one's own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride,
especially if that society's government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial
in a person's good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices
of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it
is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the
right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups'
beliefs conflict with the liberal majority's concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of
the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is
justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child's wellbeing. These instances, despite being
well–known, are not as common as one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific
and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is empirically provable that most minority groups only
want special privileges in order to raise their position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to
be handled without precedents or established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that
case–to–case examinations would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority
groups. The fear that minorities may abuse any special privileges they may be awarded does not
justify the preemptive denial of

Groups Encouraging Animal Rights
Recall the line, "Help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered." Famous game
show host Bob Barker recited this tagline to conclude every episode of the longest running game
show aired, The Price is Right. Although notorious for hosting The Price is Right for thirty–five
years, Bob Barker is also a well–known animal rights activist. Barker didn't become famous without
enduring a few speed bumps in his life. However through his dedication, determination, and
doggedness, Barker has built a reputation and has made himself an established figure in today's
society. Born the first and only son of Bryon John Barker and Matilda Valandra, Bob Barker grew
up in modest circumstances. On December 12, 1923, small town Darrington, Washington welcomed
a new member to the Barker family ("Bob Barker Biography"). At the age of six, his father, a
foreman on the electrical highline in Washington suffered injuries from a fall on the job that resulted
in his death. As a result, Barker found himself growing up on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in
South Dakota where his mother taught school until he was in eighth grade. After remarrying,
Matilda and her son moved with her husband to Springfield, Missouri where her second child, Bob's
half–brother, Kent Valandra, was born ("Bob Barker"). In 1941, Barker graduated from Central High
School in Springfield, Missouri with a basketball scholarship to Drury College ("Bob Barker

Why Groups Experience Conflict Within The Organization
In today's complex business environment managers and employees face many obstacles relating to
working in groups on assigned projects in order to complete those projects that ultimately contribute
to the bottom line, or enables the company to remain a competitive force within their assigned
industry. There are many reasons as to why groups experience conflict but one business I want to
highlight refers to conflict within the organizational structure.
Organizational Structure
According to Robbins and Judge (2009), organizational structure explains how job tasks are
formally divided, grouped, and coordinated (pg. 519). When we take a look at this definition we can
all assume that structure brings order and discipline within the company and informs all employees
on what tasks they are expected to perform on a daily basis that contributes to the organization's
success. However, one main issue that arises from organizational structure and working in groups
stems from when an organizational structure has an abusive leader or manager. When a group or an
organization experiences an abusive leader or manager conflict can arise within the organization
whereby many employees will not respond effectively to the orders given by the leader and could
result in a degradation of job performance. Many employees would be scared to question immoral
tasks in fear of getting fired or many employees would simply quit performing within their
designated job or tasks that begins a domino

Immigration Rights Group Analysis
Larkin & Lacey
The fair treatment of immigrant families, and causes regardless on one's immigration status is at the
core of the work being done by United We Dream (UWD) to champion human rights. The group has
also set out on a mission to address inequalities and obstacles that constantly get on the way of
immigrant youths by ensuring justice. With over 10,000 immigrant youths, 55 affiliate organizations
operating in over 20 states, the immigration rights group boasts being the largest immigrant youth
led organization in the US. UWD was established in 2008 by an initial small group of 7 immigrant
youth organizations. Some of the key issues facing the undocumented community include family
separation and deportation. To counter these challenges, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Group Observation
Our topic of this presentation is introducing a non–profit organization and we choose to run an
organization which is helping the underprivileged children. Our organization is called Shield for
Children. We worked as a team and finished this presentation together. We had a lot of troubles at
the beginning. For example, we have different opinions on the meeting time since we both had our
own busy schedule. As a result, we couldn't group together and discussed about the presentation.
However, we opened a What's app Group and we could communicate with each other easier inside
that application. So we could able to finish the presentation at the end. Other than that, some people

Some people are the informative giver, they provide extra information during the group discussions.
They helped our group discussion become more informative. Some people are the Administrator,

more than one role at the same time. For example, Maggie is an administrator and information giver.
She kept our discussion on track and provided different information which help us to prepare the
presentation. John is an elaborator and sensor, he elaborated our point and present it on the
PowerPoint. When we worked so hard and our productivity were too low, he will ask for a break. So
that we can take a rest and have a great performance after that. Enson is an initiator, he always gives
some new ideas that helped us to solve different kinds of problems such as he suggests us to provide
learning chances and materials instead of playing to the underprivileged children. Alex is a
gatekeeper, he makes sure everyone in the group have the chance to speak and present their idea
about the underprivileged children. For me, I think I am an initiator. It is because I suggest some
ways to advertise our organization like the Facebook page and the website. However, I am an

Ch-5 Stress Team Work
During my time working on the CH–47 structures stress team work usually came in waves. There
were only two of us working on the team, but since work had ebbed for the time being my lead felt
comfortable taking a medical leave. This effectively made me take the "lead" of our group while he
was away. I completed the usual lead rolls, gave updates to our manager and second level manager.
Working to keep tasks on track was both fun and challenging for me, and I liked the responsibility.
Due to the fast paced nature of our program stress often only had time to provide initial sizing and
the part would be released before we had the opportunity to complete a full stress analysis (this
wasn't the best way to design/size parts, but the method worked well most of the time). Since our
slow time often involved catching up on analysis, I was working on the formal documentation for a
complex installation when I realized the designer had made a mistake on the thickness of a critical
part. To make matters worse the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I organized a meeting across the functional groups required to redesign and sign off the part.
Together we set an aggressive schedule and found the necessary approvals to work overtime. In
order to push the installation out in as little time as possible I set a goal for the group to not make
any part changes requiring more than a numerical change to the stress analysis. This was a tough
task for me because as a young engineering I didn't have the knowledge to guide the designers at
times. When needed, I brought in a stress tech fellow from another group. I worked with each
designer individually to make sure the new design followed the sizing my analysis had set forth.
Also, I organized a daily meeting to gather all the designers together so we could make sure all the
parts fit into the

My Dream Essay
As human beings we are always going through life with a goal to reach. Whether that goal is to get
to a certain level of education or if you dream of being a movie star. We all have something that
drives us to keep moving forward. Some people will say that have a goal or dream is what makes us
human. If we don't have a dream then what is the point of us living at all. But along the way things
can cause us to change the course that we have already set for ourselves. Lucretius who was a poet
stated in one of his poems that "From just these first– beginnings. They are moved By their own
inner impulse first, and then such groups as form with just a few together, are moved by unseen
blows"(Austin 294). A lesson that I learned as I grew up is that everyone will not always have the
same goal as they get older but over time our minds will be changed. There are many different
things that can influence the decisions we make depending on who we surround ourselves with. For
me my dream is to go to Germany and to work there doing art. I always wondered if somebody
would be able to come along and make me change my mind on something I set my mind to. Is our
will the thing that drives us or is it the will of others. It all depends on how strong our will is. But
things can't always stay the same if we are trying to please ourselves, a group we are in, or if we are
being controlled by something bigger.
I remember when I was a little kid and also as I got older I was always asked the same

We started off the assignment by going around the college looking for the specific items that were

In solving this issue, the group should be more open to new ideas. My initial motivation towards the
group was purely intrinsic but on the long run it became extrinsic (became all about results.) as I did
not see the need to be intrinsically motivated when my contribution to the group during the first
presentation was totally discarded. The need theory wasn't properly taken into consideration in my
group as some people didn't care to know about what motivates others in the group. There were
some elements of the free rider effect because of some people feeling that their input to the group
was the best and no order input can be better than what they have offered. Carrying fellow group
members along, making them have a sense of responsibility and not always treating their
contribution as not worthy will solve the issue of the free rider effect in the group. As the expectancy
theory suggests that people will expend energy if they think it will pay off so despite all my negative
observations about the group, I was able to put all behind me because I wanted a very good outcome
for the group. The end goal of achieving excellence in the project was also a motivating factor
within the group which meant compromises had to be made to achieve

Should Group Rights Trump Individual Rights
In the United States, there has been a long struggle for equal rights given to all its citizens. In the
18th century The Founding Fathers did create a vastly different constitution than any other nations
before. However, they did leave many unanswered questions about the role of women and
minorities within the nation. The most important issue they did not address was the issue of slavery,
leaving it for the next generation to tackle the questions, which was left unanswered until the late
19th century. Those groups had to wait until the 20th century before they were seen as equal under
the constitution and in the government. When answering the question of should group rights trump
individual rights, there are many areas need to cover before answering that question. But, in the end
the answer is no, group rights should never trump individual rights because than groups are going to
gain more power than individual people. This is important because. ... Show more content on

Blau states, "...liberal usually refers to someone who favors government spending for domestic
programs, supports progressive taxes, opposes war, and is pro labor and against big business," (Blau
page 1). Those who tend to favor liberal ideas in America are another percentage of the citizens and
are just one view on how the government should be run. Social democracy can be seen as another
branch from capitalism, it does not share the same ideas of capitalism, but it agrees with a few areas
of capitalism. One of the reasons why social democracy cannot become liberal is because everyone
in the United States has their own right to support what they want. There are no restrictions on what
citizens must believe in. Plus, in the history of the United States, there has always been different
political group in charge at different times. Those political groups, which have gained more votes,

What Is The Consensus Decision-Making Right For Your Group?
Similarly, coming to a consensus when making a decision as a group allows group members to trust
each other and build better relationships. In the article, "Is the Consensus Decision–Making Right
for Your Group?", the author says, "Consensus decision–making helps build trust and a sense of
community." (Consensus). While making a group decision, the members learn how to trust
everyone's thoughts. If someone in the group shares a good idea, the rest of the members are more
likely to trust the rest of their opinions and ideas. In a Letter to the Editor, Mary Anne Dunlop, a
parent of a student from Tiberi Township School, says, "When the whole school board unites behind
a plan, the teachers, parents, and students will unite behind it as well."(Dunlop). When making a
consensus decision, the group will build a community atmosphere. Students, teachers, and parents
will agree with each other and everyone will be happy with the plan. If the board is not with the
decision completely, the community might agree with different sides of the board and argue with
each other. (Gabi) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to "Is Consensus Decision Making Right For Your Group?" The article states,
"Everyone's ideas are included, which leads to a wider range of possible solutions." (Consensus).
People will be able to find more solutions if everyone shares their opinion. Also, in "Consensus Will
Be Used to Decide School Board Policy", the article states, "with consensus, a group can bring the
best parts of many proposals together to create something new." (Stephens). With the more ideas
that people say, there could be more opportunities, it can allow everyone to share their opinion. And
that way people won't be mad about being left out in the conversation because they will say what
they are thinking.

The Geo Group : A Case For Human Rights Watch
The GEO Group also profits after their prisoners are released. The GEO Group made a $415 million
acquisition of Behavioral Interventions Inc. (BI) with a group of Wall Street firms, including Bank
of America and JPMorgan, providing the financing. BI is the largest company that electronically
monitors parolees and probationers, over 60,000 nationwide. Yes, many states have also decided to
privatize their probation and parole services. After their release, prisoners immediately enter into a
debt system. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Bearden v. Georgia that a probationer can't be jailed
if they can't afford a criminal fine; however, who determines if someone can afford his fines and
fees is often decided by private probation companies which have a clear conflict of interest. "Many
of these probation companies are not really acting like probation officers at all but debt collectors,"
says Chris Albin–Lackey, Senior Researcher for Human Rights Watch. Someone can easily be
thrown back in jail if they simply get behind on those payments, fail a drug test, miss a parole
appointment, or fail to maintain employment. Two thirds of parolees in the year 2000 were sent back
to prison from those types of technical violations, rather from actual crimes. In addition, 87% of
people in 2008 who were facing non–felony charges with bail set at $1,000 or less were incarcerated
because they were unable to pay. In fact, public defenders routinely aren't present at initial bail and

Special Interest Group--Human Rights Campaign
The Human Right Campaign is a group that many are familiar with. This group is commonly
associated with their logo, which openly shows their goals and ideals. They work for many things
other than this, but their fight for equality is the most commonly talked about. Many of us have
probably heard about the HRC through our spam file on our email account. You also may have
heard of them through their numerous fights for equality and same sex rights. The Human Right
Campaign is a group involved in many things all for a very amazing cause. They work hard for the
things they do and achieve their desired results with the help of the community and their sponsors.
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is a group that works toward equality. Their symbol happens
to be a yellow equals sign on a solid blue background. This has also been seen as two different
shades of red. These colors are typically associated with love and used when events arise that their
needs to be more support of the campaign. This was unveiled when the campaign was appealing to
the courts with an equality case. They had a large amount of support from the Facebook and Twitter
communities. People with profiles on these websites were asked to change their profile pictures to
the red version of their equality logo to show support for LGBT rights in these cases. Their symbol,
however, is the blue and yellow sign. This can be seen in many different places, even on cars as
bumper stickers! (About Our Logo) The Human Rights

Protecting The Rights Of Minority Groups
Democratic societies are often faced with the issue of having to find a balance between the
preservation of liberty rights, and protecting human rights and promoting equality. As a liberal
society, we must protect the liberty right to freedom of expression; however, being a liberal society
also means that there ought to be a responsibility to protect vulnerable minorities from being harmed
by hate speech. As a result of competing rights, the state often faces the difficult task of determining
when one right trumps the other. In this essay, I will discuss and defend the reasons why we must
restrict certain types of hate speech – the kind that assaults our dignity, and is harmful. Moreover, I
will discuss and defend why we must protect the rights of minority groups, and how doing so can
contribute to the greater good of society.
To protect the rights of minority groups, governments must use hate speech laws to shield them
from harms, such as verbal violations and assaults to their dignity, based on their gender, race,
disability or religious affiliations. Harm is caused when hate speech produces a sense of fear,
humiliation, and a belief that one is unwanted in the community. While people possess the right to
freedom of thought, the right to be sovereign in determining their own beliefs and conclusions, as
well as the freedom to hate a particular group, minorities should also have the right to be protected
and free of harm caused by certain types of hate speech, and the

Gun Rights Group Analysis
My chosen discourse is a sect of the NRA, in my hometown of Bryant, Arkansas, along with an
interview of my father a member of the NRA. The group existing is due to guns and the rights to
said guns; and like in the national level of the NRA, the members are staunch supporter of pro–gun
rights.
Most of the communication of the group is done through the use of social media and face–to–face
interactions. On the social media side of things, the group is mostly based within Facebook and
Instagram. On the media platforms, the group shares ideas of what they believe is the right the way
in American politics to deal with gun rights. The group has no real face–to–face meetings, the
meeting between the members are causal: usually at work or at the gun range.
Again, the NRA along with this sect of it is a pro–gun rights group in the United States. The goal of
their communication is to support their beliefs on the rights to firearms, so there is often discussion
on how the other side is "wrong" based upon the oppositions arguments. The most common conflicts
within the community stem form ideas on how gun rights should be expressed: some host more

Analyzing The Bandwagon Effect In Ayn Rand's Anthem
Have you ever felt the need to complete a task because the people around you already completed
that task? That feeling is caused by a phenomenon known as the bandwagon effect. Concepts such
as the bandwagon effect are explored in Ayn Rand's Anthem. In the novella, there is a collectivist
society that believes more in the importance of the group instead of the individual. Personal
preferences are suppressed, and people who question the collectivist ideals are persecuted by
society. The people cannot decide what they want to become because the Council picks what
occupation they receive based on the needs of the State as a whole. This also affects individual
people such as Equality 7–2521. The collectivist ideals that are displayed in Ayn Rand's ... Show

The people in the general public in Anthem have a similar mentality and tend to do similar actions.
This is likely caused by the bandwagon effect which is when people start to do what other people
are doing without considering why they do it. The bandwagon effect can be bad as it is "harmful
when it comes to ideals and ethics" (McMahon). It has caused many adverse effects on the public.
For example, there is very little rebellion against the collectivist society besides a few individuals.
This happens as a result of the bandwagon effect. Most people decide to agree with the collectivist
ideals because the other people around them agree with them. As more people decide to accept the
ideals, there will be fewer people who will decide to stand up for their rights. The collectivist ideals
makes the people in the general public give up their rights due to the bandwagon

The Right Wing Ideologues Are An Extremely Diverse Group

  • 1. The Right Wing Ideologues Are An Extremely Diverse Group The right wing ideologues are an extremely diverse group. Within the U.S alone there are libertarians (those who 's believe the government is too large both economically and socially.), traditionalist, militarists (those who believe that the military is of the ultimate importance to society and think it should be used more), moderates and many other groups. In international terms the groups that are farthest to the right are known as reactionaries. Reactionaries are usually set apart from traditionalists in that unlike traditionalist who seek to preserve current traditions, reactionaries actively seek to restore past traditions. For example, someone who seeks to protect a countries monarchy would be a traditionalist, while someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most libertarians support a reduction of traditional and religious power while at the same time usually supporting things that will result in a smaller and less active government such as legalization of drugs, an end to most wars, and a reduction in overall governmental influence and power. Libertarians are usually unconcerned about the power of corporations and tend to support measures that result in the government having less control over corporations and the economy. A few libertarians also favor general reductions to entitlement and benefit programs. Moderates are those who while still clearly on the right wing of politics, tend to be closer to the center in there opinions and more willing to compromise. In general moderates tend to hold the same beliefs but to a lesser degree. Most forms of militarism are usually found on the right wing of politics. The number of pure militarists is usually small as most people tend to support other issues in conjunction with militarism, In general any of the above ideologies can have a militarism added onto it. As with right wing ideologies, left wing ideologies are very diverse. In the United States however, most left wing ideologies get little to no representation. Those who are farthest to the left, tend to be communists and anarchists. While both groups have the abolition of government as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Group Reflection Paper What did you learn by working together in your group? It was very interesting to work together in my group. I learnt more deeply about the African American issue. All members in my group was very supportive. We collaborate with each other in a timely manner. The biggest fear I had working in a group environment was the conflict. There was no conflict because we all shared our thoughts and problems with each other. That makes this group experience great. What did you learn from each others' Group Project Abstracts? The group 2 worked on African Americans racism issue. They beautifully present their abstract through PowerPoint. I didn't know that Colin Kaepernick had sat in 2 other occasions before the nation got attention. Also, I really liked how they present the other players kneeling incidents. It is interesting to know that White American World Cup Winner Megan Rapinoe also follows the Colin Kaepernick. The group 3 worked on DACA issue. Their abstract is very informative. (Wong, 2017). I agree with them that the immigration law that we have today is tearing families apart. Instead of deporting the DACA immigrants we need to make changes in the immigrations policies to make the American economy strong. The group 2 issue of inequality in injustice that have created many problems for the African Americans. In order to make this country a better place to live we need to give African Americans same right and freedom that White Americans have. I agree with them we need to teach people against racism. • 3. Small Group Analysis Essay Introduction: When people think of a "group" they think of the amount of people but not the way they work together. In the small group analysis I will first explain the roles of people and the type of leadership that made us develop implicit and explicit norms. Second, I will talk about conflict, resolution techniques and maintaining social and task orientation. Third, I will share strengths, weaknesses and ways my group could have been more successful. Last, things I would have changed about the interaction in our group and the grade I would give my group for the completion of the last presentation. 1. Who had what role in your group? Why did these individuals have these roles? Edvin had the leader role because he was the only guy and he ... If anything we tried to have a democratic leadership but it was more situational most of the time. I started the group messaging and we all pretty much communicated through their sending or read imports and feedback. As we expected Edvin to be the leader he was the one who helped proofread everyone's written speech parts. We did not meet other than class time dedicated for this assignment. There was only one time we met and did not leave of class was cancelled because the other time it was cancelled we did not show up. 3. What implicit and explicit norms did your group develop? Why were these norms develop, and how are they enforced by the group? As we spoke in group time we developed implicit rules. For example, do not speak when another group member is speaking. Everyone has a chance to share their ideas and should share if they like or dislike an idea they feel that might or might not work. I think we all had good manners inculcated in our childhood so we did not have problems with that. Plus we did not mind words of frustration as it was not direct to any of us. 4. What conflict(s) did you group experience with this assignment? How did the group manage the conflict(s)? What conflict resolution techniques were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay Comparing Vance And Yoshino Psychology and Politics Introduction Personal memoirs used by both J.D. Vance and Yoshino's are basically an insight into their troubled lives, which with gradual analysis turn into an anecdotal evidence on the basis of which they form their arguments foe individual or collective liberty in the society they spent their early lives in. While Yoshino's work is rather limited to a specific theme of a lack of liberty then wanting a right to a different life as is presented in Vance's work. In Yoshino's amazing and exquisite work, acclaimed Yale Law School educator Kenji Yoshino wires legitimate proclamation and beautiful journal to require a redefinition of social liberties in our law and culture. Everybody covers. To cover is to make light of a disfavored characteristic to mix into the standard. We as a whole experience the burden to cover in our day by day lives since every one of us have disparaged characteristics. Vance's memoir also has a tinge of humor and sarcasm on the people he wrote about while Yoshino's continues to be more emotionally moved. What seems quite common in the two memoirs is the notion of conformity, which in both cases negative and resulting in exceptionally horrifying circumstances. Yoshino talked about people moving away from civil rights to the conformity of being one and the same. While Vance showed how conformity to the theme of 'Learned helplessness' among those in the working class kept them at the bottom; suffering and actively contributing to their sufferings. The two authors opposed this conformity however with Yoshino, the situation was different, for many gays eventually were ready to 'come out' to fight while the redneck hillbillies wanted it served on ... • 5. The Right Of The Group, Government And Equitable Treatment In light of recent political events in Ferguson, Missouri, I have decided to eschew a contractually focused paper, and to chime in on a more racially focused argument than what I would usually allow myself. To address the question in the prompt above, my argument is as follows. The right of the group, government or regulatory consensus must have the ability to supersede the rights of individuals in matters pertaining to the economic interactions between them based on the historical precedents set by the economic failures of individuals to support the obligations of the greater good. The notions associated with laissez–faire capitalism, those of absolute individual freedom, self– evident personal responsibility being separate of societal ... (Madison & Gouverner, 1878) With the addition of the Bill of Rights in 1789 and the first ten amendments to the Constitution since its induction, these barriers and protections to the citizen and principle arms of democratic society gained further definition. In this action, the proverbial war between "Big" government, regulatory forces, and their counterparts in free–markets, laissez–faire Capitalism, and ultimate rights of the individual had the stage set from where we find ourselves in the United States today. However, the focus of this paper is more historically linear and hypothetical, in that this is to attempt to find the answer to the rights of the "They", to supersede the rights of the individual in matters of economic involvement in order to maintain an overarching standard of "Justice" based on several following points. From its penning, John Rawls' theory of Justice, states several foundational notions. First among them is the distinction that his concept of justice is not to give rise to any one specific form of governmental power or structure. It is simply the "principles that free and rational persons concerned to further their own interests would accept in an initial position of equality as defining the fundamental terms of their association." This crux of Rawls' argument in the "Original Position" is the moniker of Justice as Fairness, which is rooted directly in the moment a shift ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Group Value Analysis For Human Communications group project, my group was accumulated of five members who worked together to find the influence of Youtube in our culture. The group was organized into five topics about Youtube to create a whole project. The project was split into the business, history, blogging, music, and sports of Youtube. My group made thorough decisions, was engaging, had little to no conflicts, and got our point across. I give my group members a high evaluation and enjoyed discovering new topics, learning how to function within a small group, and realizing how to apply communication techniques into real life situations. My group was true to their opinions, work, and expectation of peers. Ethical communication was exhibited in my small group. This means my group was focused on getting our work done while still maintain reasonable relationships among group members. To generate ideas, my group used brainstorming, which was a way to create and organize ideas and make sure everyone understands the concept of it. • 7. Why Do Minority Groups Gain Equal Rights? Society will not be at peace as long as its inferior members do not have the same, equal rights as the superior ones. Minority groups not only want to be tolerated but also recognized. What I mean by recognition is an acknowledgment of the differences among people that, nonetheless, ought to be respected. If the dominant members of society merely neglect minorities, they will attempt to assert themselves in an oppressive environment. Therefore, minorities need attention. If there is a lack of attention, they may resort to more drastic actions, for example, robberies, vandalism or violence to gain recognition. This principle seems to apply to recent terrorist attacks in Europe as well. Refugees often live in separated camps and have little interaction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Interculturalism In Canada Canada is portrayed as an open and liberal country accepting all, but there is evidence in our history and presently that this is very untrue. For starters, we still have an Act which can eradicate rights of Canadian citizens in the name of security. This Act, the Emergency Act, can only be used when there are declared emergencies by the Cabinet and Parliament. It then must be tested, in the Reasonable and Justified test in section 1 of the charter to see if certain rights can be justified to be taken away. This very long process, while is difficult and still tries to protect Canadian citizens, still exists to take rights away. The Emergency Act replaced the War Measures Act, which had been used three times in Canadian history – World War One, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collective rights are given to groups whose society threaten them with capitalism or individualism, usually ensuring cultural preservation. As the Government's purpose is to work and protect the people, the government is responsible to give these groups the collective rights they need. For French Canadians, maintaining their language is important since this is how they maintain their culture. In Quebec, there is a vastly different culture compared to the rest of Canada. The identity of their province is just as important as their identity as Canadians. Other cultures in Quebec as not as celebrated as encouraged in the rest of Canada, either. They even have their own distinct way of running their provincial government. All of this has allowed for their culture to flourish despite continuing American influence in Canada. • 9. Leading In The Here And Now: Video Analysis During the "Part III: Conflict and Summation" in the video Group Work: Leading in the Here and Now (Association for Specialists in Group Work, n.d.), the group worked through a tremendous amount of conflict. The main driving force for the conflict was based on self–disclosure that group member Jean offered to the group, surrounding her feelings of anger and distrust with the other members. Her comments sparked the group to investigate and explore their own feelings and emotions not only towards Jean, but the group itself. Corey, Corey, and Corey (2010) noted that, "by taking risks in disclosing here–and–now observations and reactions, members are actively creating trust and making it possible to engage in deeper self–exploration," (p. 253). While Jean's comments upset some individuals in the group, it initiated open and honest responses from the rest of the group. Even though Jean was the primary driver of the conflict during this session, I was particularly interested in Art's feedback and experience during the video. His personal self–disclosure and involvement within the group conflict hit on the key points of this discussion post: personal awareness and successful resolution ... • 10. Women And Minority Groups During The Civil Rights Initiative Women and minority groups in particular fields have been disadvantaged since there has been a discrimination against them few years ago. Especially in the work fields, an issue regarding inequality in public contracting, specifically in bidding, becomes a current debate among workers. Since San Francisco allowed the city authorities to treat its bidding process differently though the San Francisco's Public Contracting, cities that intended to eliminate such inequality might have failed. This policy stated that the bid process proposed by women and minorities could be lowered 10 percent, compared to the normal bid that usually proposed by the majority and men. This policy was no longer valid after a Proposition 209 or the California Civil Rights Initiative has been signed in 1996. The state government was to not to involved issues that differentiate ethnicity, race, and gender in public contracting, employment, as well as education. Since this Proposition 209 was implemented by numerous cities and states, many people began to question its performances. There was a case where a corporation (Rothe Development) owned by white people denied a bid since the one who offered the bid was doing a violation. The United States Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Air Force took 10 percent off the of its original bid price from International Computers Telecommunications, Inc., a business owned by minorities, which is Korean. The article, "Grand Jury Indictments Sement Group Solidarity to Fight for Their Rights" written in March 1956 explains that some of the men part of this boycott were indicted by the grand jury to investigate the boycott. The article states, "dedicating themselves to mass movement of passive resistance using only the weapon of love, Montgomery Negro bus boycott leaders promised this week that nothing will change in the 12–week–old protest even though nearly 100 of them face possible jail sentence for their part in the boycott ... • 12. Rules And Order In William Golding's Lord Of The Flies Rules and order support a society by preventing it from becoming corrupted. Having organization and structure is very important in order to maintain a successful and civilized community. During the Cold War, a school for boys are sent out on a plane to avoid the atomic bombs. While being transported to safety, the plane crashes and the boys become trapped on a mysterious island. After the crash, the boys gather everyone together and elect a chief to lead the group. The two candidates running for chief are Ralph, a rational and kind hearted boy, and Jack, a determined, arrogant, and aggressive figure. One of the other boys known as Piggy helps Ralph to give him logical advice to help the group of boys get rescued. It is their job to form a society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the plane crashes, Ralph and Piggy stumble upon a conch shell and use it to call an assembly to gather all the boys up. When blown through, the conch creates a roaring blare that allows everyone to hear it. This conch becomes the most important motif since it keeps the boys organized. This conch is also used to create order among the boys to signify who has the right to talk, that way everyone has a chance to be heard without being interrupted. This is apparent when Ralph says, "'And another thing. We can't have everybody talking at once. We'll have to have 'Hands up' like at school'... 'And he won't be interrupted. Except by me.' Jack was on his feet. 'We'll have rules!' he cried excitedly. 'Lots of rules!'" (Golding 33). This rule associated with the conch helps the boys to maintain a civilized structure by demanding the boys to give respect. Every time the conch is blown, the boys gather and anytime anyone wants to speak during these assemblies, they hold the shell. By instilling these 2 guidelines, all the boys have the opportunity to accept power and respect. To keep control in the group, the boys decide to run their society similar to an autocracy. All the boys agree electing a chief to lead the group will be the most effective way to stay organized and civilized until they are rescued. This is evident when Jack says, "' We've got to decide about being rescued'... 'seems we ought to have a chief to decide things'"(22). By appointing a leader to guide the boys it will keep the chaos contained and encourage the boys to remain cordial towards each other and avoid barbaric behavior. Ralph and Jack both want the title of chief, however, when all the boys vote, Ralph is the clear cut winner. Electing a leader and using the conch to summon the group together are very important if the boys want to protect their civilized life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Reflection Paper For as long as I can remember, I've always been a quiet child. I hated the way I speak and I still do. What I say never matches up to what I think and it is never organized. I hate it when I talk and my heart rapidly races or my stomach begins to hurt out of nowhere. I regret growing up to where I am now with that trait because I feel unhappy with myself and my mind is plagued with negative thoughts as a result. I worry about the future to the point where I can't focus on the present. These thoughts built up and came crashing down during the time I had to present with my group in front of my teacher during 8th grade for the first round of National History Day. I was nervous, frustrated, and worried. It was the third time we had to present in front of her and I had another project due to her the next day which I needed to work on badly. However, the thoughts in which I tried hard to store away broke loose. When it was my turn to explain my part, I made a mistake and laughed it off. I continued again and messed up. I laughed. I laughed until I started to cry in front of the class. My teacher and teammates comforted me even though I didn't want their sympathy. However, the fact that they cared for me gave me strength. I wanted to be more confident in myself and to achieve that, I had to be more positive which made me become a nicer person. • 14. Personal Narrative: The Epic Tale Of Beowulf This story begins with me stumbling into my High School senior English course, Senior English B. It was the first class of the day, starting roughly at 8:00 am, I was never too thrilled to be up around this time, even to this day. The day was hot and sunny, as per usual in the sunny vista that is Phoenix, Arizona. At this point and time in my life, I was just waiting for High School to end; moving on to larger avenues was the most important thing on my mind. Every day I had these thoughts in my mind, and today was no different. As I took my seat in the back of the musty and old classroom that was barely maintained over the years, our teacher, Mr. Burns began telling us about our next assignment. Everyone groaned, just wanting the onslaught of work to finally come to an end. In retrospect, the work was only truly just beginning. The assignment was to be a group effort, each group to contain five people. As a class, we had just finished reading the epic tale of Beowulf, and for our group assignment we had to present a section of the story to the class in a fun and more enjoyable format. Mr. Burns had listed some possible choices: Jeopardy, board games, replaying the section in a theatre format. Dread was all I could feel at this point. Jack And Ralph Debate Analysis Reflection of the Jack and Ralph Debate How Did I Help the Group In order to prepare for the debate our group had to do some research and determine which group members would complete each task. The team I was on was in charge of Jack's case, and because of that, we had to do even more research to prove his side right. Moreover, while participating in the search for reasons why Jack was a better leader than Ralph, I was able to give points to the students in charge of the opening statement. • 16. The Assessment Of Individual Rights Within Cultural Groups... Susan Okin passionately argues for the assessment of individual rights within cultural groups. Particularly, she hopes for an implementation of feminist values into all cultures, especially minority cultures living within a liberal majority. Many cultural minorities propose special group rights, which would allow them to continue their practices even if it goes against the cultural majority's values and laws. These group rights would not apply to anyone outside the minority culture, though Okin would argue that for many cases, these group rights should not be extended to the minority culture in the first place. As a foundation, Okin defines feminism as "the belief that women should not be disadvantaged by their sex, that they should be recognized as having human dignity equal to that of men, and that they should have the opportunity to live as fulfilling and as freely chosen lives as men can" (Okin 10). Therefore, Okin asserts that any minority culture, living within a liberal, feminist culture, that has any practice that perpetuates disadvantaging their women or actively withholds them from having as free of lives as men, should be reconsidered when they ask for group rights. As an example, we can imagine a 14–year–old girl and her parents who move from Sierra Leone to the United States. In Sierra Leone, the practice of female circumcision is customary, and after talking it over with her mother, the girl expresses a wish to be circumcised. A social service agency ... • 18. Discuss The Arguments For The Rights And Privileges Of... In this essay, I will be arguing for the rights and privileges of minority groups. I believe that 'special' privileges do not give minorities excessive benefits, and that these privileges also do not infringe upon the rights or lifestyles of the majority. I will prove this through the examination of several aspects of society and nation, including equality, nation–building, and identity. These three characteristics of multiculturalism and society will help evidence the justification of minority rights in the face of opposing liberal majority interests. To establish the need for minority rights, the concept of multiculturalism must first be understood. Kymlicka describes multiculturalism as "an umbrella term for the claims of these ethnocultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For most people, identity is intimately tied into their cultural/religious backgrounds. When minorities are denied recognition of their backgrounds for the sake of the majorities comfort, it denies minorities their right to cultural or ethnic identities. Living in a society that has a mainstream culture contrary to one's own lifestyle makes it difficult to embrace your own identity with pride, especially if that society's government does not support your need for rights. As identity is so crucial in a person's good life, it is unjust for a society to deny a person their right to celebrate the practices of their culture or religion. Despite identity being considered a fairly basic right in modern society, it is also where most of the issues surrounding minority rights occur. Giving a group of people the right to practice a religion seems inherently just at first glance, however what happens if the groups' beliefs conflict with the liberal majority's concept of human rights? In instances where the beliefs of the minority directly conflict with the goals of the state (to protect its citizens), I believe it is justifiable for the state to step in on behalf of the child's wellbeing. These instances, despite being well–known, are not as common as one might think. It is easy to criminalize minorities for specific and rare instances of abuse, but overall it is empirically provable that most minority groups only want special privileges in order to raise their position in society to be equal. It is unusual for cases to be handled without precedents or established systems, but in the case of multiculturalism I think that case–to–case examinations would be the most effective way to police such crimes in minority groups. The fear that minorities may abuse any special privileges they may be awarded does not justify the preemptive denial of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Groups Experience Conflict Within The Organization In today's complex business environment managers and employees face many obstacles relating to working in groups on assigned projects in order to complete those projects that ultimately contribute to the bottom line, or enables the company to remain a competitive force within their assigned industry. There are many reasons as to why groups experience conflict but one business I want to highlight refers to conflict within the organizational structure. Organizational Structure According to Robbins and Judge (2009), organizational structure explains how job tasks are formally divided, grouped, and coordinated (pg. 519). When we take a look at this definition we can all assume that structure brings order and discipline within the company and informs all employees on what tasks they are expected to perform on a daily basis that contributes to the organization's success. However, one main issue that arises from organizational structure and working in groups stems from when an organizational structure has an abusive leader or manager. When a group or an organization experiences an abusive leader or manager conflict can arise within the organization whereby many employees will not respond effectively to the orders given by the leader and could result in a degradation of job performance. Many employees would be scared to question immoral tasks in fear of getting fired or many employees would simply quit performing within their designated job or tasks that begins a domino ... • 27. My Dream Essay As human beings we are always going through life with a goal to reach. Whether that goal is to get to a certain level of education or if you dream of being a movie star. We all have something that drives us to keep moving forward. Some people will say that have a goal or dream is what makes us human. If we don't have a dream then what is the point of us living at all. But along the way things can cause us to change the course that we have already set for ourselves. Lucretius who was a poet stated in one of his poems that "From just these first– beginnings. They are moved By their own inner impulse first, and then such groups as form with just a few together, are moved by unseen blows"(Austin 294). A lesson that I learned as I grew up is that everyone will not always have the same goal as they get older but over time our minds will be changed. There are many different things that can influence the decisions we make depending on who we surround ourselves with. For me my dream is to go to Germany and to work there doing art. I always wondered if somebody would be able to come along and make me change my mind on something I set my mind to. Is our will the thing that drives us or is it the will of others. It all depends on how strong our will is. But things can't always stay the same if we are trying to please ourselves, a group we are in, or if we are being controlled by something bigger. The most important issue they did not address was the issue of slavery, leaving it for the next generation to tackle the questions, which was left unanswered until the late 19th century. BI is the largest company that electronically monitors parolees and probationers, over 60,000 nationwide. Yes, many states have also decided to privatize their probation and parole services. After their release, prisoners immediately enter into a debt system. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Bearden v. Protecting The Rights Of Minority Groups Democratic societies are often faced with the issue of having to find a balance between the preservation of liberty rights, and protecting human rights and promoting equality. As a liberal society, we must protect the liberty right to freedom of expression; however, being a liberal society also means that there ought to be a responsibility to protect vulnerable minorities from being harmed by hate speech. As a result of competing rights, the state often faces the difficult task of determining when one right trumps the other. In this essay, I will discuss and defend the reasons why we must restrict certain types of hate speech – the kind that assaults our dignity, and is harmful. Moreover, I will discuss and defend why we must protect the rights of minority groups, and how doing so can contribute to the greater good of society. To protect the rights of minority groups, governments must use hate speech laws to shield them from harms, such as verbal violations and assaults to their dignity, based on their gender, race, disability or religious affiliations. Harm is caused when hate speech produces a sense of fear, humiliation, and a belief that one is unwanted in the community. While people possess the right to freedom of thought, the right to be sovereign in determining their own beliefs and conclusions, as well as the freedom to hate a particular group, minorities should also have the right to be protected and free of harm caused by certain types of hate speech, and the ...
