Application Of Client For Service As A Helping Professional
As a helping professional it is imperative to be aware of the kind of client that may be most
challenging to work with. The kind of challenge or problem that a client may bring would be one
that causes distress to the provider. An example of that type of client would be a mother who has
dealt with child abuse or any abuse as a child. The problem would stem from a client, as such who
often physically abuses her children. The characteristics of this client in terms of how they behave
may also cause a challenge, because the mother may display overly aggressive behavior to her
children because of her past child abuse trauma. Also, if the is mother overly dependent on a
substance to refrain from being aggressive and abusive to her children, would be consider another
challenge with this kind of a client. I believe this kind of client would be challenging to service as a
helping professional, because of the problems the children are forced experience. As a helping
professional there is great compassion for the children in this situation. The client would be
challenging because she is aggressive and offensive to her children and herself. This harm is caused
to the client and her children, because the mother has not dealt with the internal issue of her past
childhood abuse trauma. This condition would be beyond challenging because the mother is only
causing the same issue for her children. Guiding the mother on how she has to address her problems
physically and mentally in

Ethical Use Of Professional Boundaries In Human Services
Professional boundaries, in human services, are essential to helping clients and upholding the
standards of the profession. Human service professionals provide several different services and are
often faced with ethical dilemmas. Ethical dilemmas are a major reason professional boundaries are
established as they protect both the helper and the individual seeking help. Boundaries are not just
rules that we enforce with clients, they are essentially an understanding of how we interact with
people, both, professionally and personally. Boundaries are crucial if you want to have an effective
relationship with the individual you are helping. Professional boundaries set the structure of the
relationship and provide a framework in which you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I experienced one incident during my teaching tenure where professional boundaries were crossed
and violated. A colleague became intimate with one of her students. After several rumors surfaced,
the principal initiated an investigation and the school counselor was reported to the state board. The
counselor was fired and lost her license. The counselor suffered many consequences because of her
unethical actions and misuse of the imbalance of power she had over the student. However, the
consequences suffered by the student, were far greater. The student was seeking the counselor's help
for depression and the situation put him over the edge. He trusted, confided and respected her and
she disregarded any potential harm this may have on the student. He eventually dropped out of
school and the family moved away for a fresh start. Professional boundaries are in place for the
safety of the helper and the client. Obviously, this professional did not have an understanding of her
boundaries as they help caregivers avoid misconduct and recognize they are crossing from ethical to
unethical

Mental And Human Health Service Professionals
Mental and Human Health Service Professionals are people who work with individuals, families or
couples in assessing and treating mental health issues. They work with a variety of people of every
age and will also assist those with developmental disabilities, drug abuse, or some other
physiological health condition. These professionals are dedicated and show enthusiasm for helping
others while having compassion for any whom have a mental health issue. Some choose to pursue a
particular area of interest, such as working with children and many of these individuals can obtain
their M.D. in social work, psychology, or even counseling. A typical day for a mental health or

There are many ways to help or "treat", as it is usually called, the particular patient and their
required needs. During this treatment, addicted individuals along with their families have the
opportunity to learn more about the effects of their addiction relating to alcohol or drugs, and will
learn ways on how to live a healthier, successful, more sober life. Those who work in this particular
field are committed to helping others overcome their addiction while showing compassion for said
individuals and their craving. An Addiction Specialist has the ability to make about $39,000
annually after obtaining their license through the ACCBO (Addiction Counselor Certification Board
of Oregon); once earned, these professionals can look forward to the many work opportunities
found in rural and metropolitan areas. Something I didn't know about this career is that Oregon does
not require an entry level Drug and Alcohol Counselor to have a college degree, unlike some states.
Instead, several courses which are needed for certification will be required. This area of work never
really hit a chord within me as far as wanting to pursue it, so I don't believe I would ever seek
employment or a degree for it. I do find it fascinating in regards to the type of work these
professionals specialize in, but again, it has never fully interested me

The Role of Human Service Professionals
Abstract The Human Service Professionals are a group of individuals whose job is specifically to
serve the society, educate them and work for the societal welfare at large. In the twentieth century,
organizational ethics have gained immense importance in the corporate world. The need to adhere to
ethical standards is even greater for the human service professionals and those who educate them.
This is because any deviance from ethical standards can question the integrity of human service
professions and can raise question on the standards of social welfare. This is unhealthy for the trust
relationships of the society over human service individuals. Introduction One tricky part of the job
that human service professionals have to face in the course of their jobs is to make decisions
pertaining to ethical dilemmas. Often, such decisions can be tricky because they trigger conflicts of
interests between various stakeholders of the dilemma whereas human service professionals have
their responsibility towards more than one stakeholder groups at the same time. This means they
cannot violate the rights of one stakeholder in order to protect the rights of another stakeholder.
Such decisions are often referred to as 'Right versus Right' decisions (Corey, Corey &
Callanan,2005). This paper aims at evaluating the decision making process of human service
professionals under situations facing ethical dilemma. The ethical dilemma being discussed in this
paper involves the problem of

conflict as a HSP. Finally, I identify a code of ethics to justify my opinion.
Ethical Conflict
In the media program ethics chapter 4, the HSP is questioning her own views and admits to seeing
this case different then her other cases (Laureate Education [Producer]. [2014c])In the reading, for
values and ethical dilemmas, it is recommended that HSP should take time to focus on ethical
dilemmas which is what Barbara has done in the media video (Reid Mandell, & Schram, (2012). I

Human Service Professionals Case Study
Human service professionals are challenged with a significant role in assisting clients to work
through difficult or traumatic situations that they have dealt with or currently struggling to get
through. According to authors, the clinician demonstrates unique knowledge and understanding of
human behaviors. Often times, these behaviors are a reflection of psychological theory, systems
theory, and communication skills (Murphy & Dillion, 2010, p. 8). Human Service Professionals
(HSP) undergo extensive training to master the skills and knowledge required to assist their clients
with life altering events that has created a sense of depression or stress. Human service professionals

The human service professional needs to take note of the body language as well as the verbal and
nonverbal gestures offered by the couple. The clinician must be careful to take note but not prejudge
based on Reggie and Todd's physical appearance. As the couple enters the room and seats
themselves separately, this reflects discord, separation, or tension. The clinician needs to offer
calming, relaxation techniques to Todd and Reggie to lighten the mood. Initially engaging in casual
conversation will help improve the comfort level at the beginning of the meeting. A clinician's
display of certain body language can also assist in calming the mood. After hearing the issues that
the couple faces, the clinician can ask them both to say something positive or something they
admire about the other. This would be considered redirecting. It gives Todd and Reggie something
positive to think about. Allowing them to start with something positive will likely steer the
conversation into a more positive direction. Maintaining a calm demeanor and knowing when to
redirect plays an important role in conducting a productive session with the clients. Utilizing the
SOLER theory by Gerald Egan (1986), allows the clinician to implement active listen skills. The

The Importance Of A Human Service Professional
In this paper I will write from the point of view of a human service professional in his last job in the
field, as director and supervisor of a Daily Reporting Center (DRC), that serves the needs of
individuals who have recently been released from serving time in a state prison. I will advise those
in this agency who are just beginning their careers in human services, and leave them with the
knowledge and wisdom I have gathered in my years of services to this community. I will express
how one should utilize the best methods for providing direct service, and effective coordination
between agencies in the community for any services that may be beyond the scope of our agency. I
will also convey the importance of advocacy to assist our clients, bring about social justice and
work to end oppression in our community and the world. And I will finally leave them with some of
the most important lessons that I have learned and hope that they will take to heart in their future
careers as helpers. Looking back on my over twenty years of serving this community; starting off as
a mere volunteer, then as a counselor and case manager, all the way to the last seven years as the
director and supervisor of this Daily Reporting Center (DRC), I have seen so many people who have
come to us, fresh out of state prison, lacking the tools to become productive members of this society.

Importance of Hiring a Professional Cleaning Service
Blog One: Commercial Spring–Cleaning
Importance of Hiring a Professional Cleaning Service
Hiring experts to spring–clean your commercial property can ensure every surface in a building is
sanitized so that it looks new and smells fresh. Many business owners are too busy during the
autumn or winter because of the busy holiday seasons to worry about extra cleaning services such as
washing walls, ceilings and windows. Springtime is the perfect time to hire Roses Professional

summer weather in the Las Vegas Valley gets incredibly hot, making it difficult for janitorial
employees to open windows while performing extensive cleaning duties. In addition, many local
businesses such as hotels or resorts are extremely busy with customers and clients during the
summer, leading to spring being the perfect time for getting a building cleaned by professionals.
Keeping a Commercial Property Spotless
While you may hire a professional company to complete daily or weekly cleaning chores such as
vacuuming or mopping floors, there are items that require additional sanitizing once a year. At

Competency Requirements For Health Service Professionals
Given the recent and persistent focus on competency requirements for health service professionals, a
number of authors have examined the ways in which competencies relate to effective teamwork in
their organizations. (Barr, 1998; Hall, 2005; Thylefors & Persson, 2005; Dubois & Singh 2009;
Suter, Arndt, Arthur & Parboosingh, 2009; Thistlewaite et al., 2014; Hettinger, & Gwozdek, 2015;
Regan, Laschinger, & Wong, 2016; Van Der Lee, Driessen, & Scheele, 2016). A combination of
professional competencies within interprofessional teams poses a possible solution to current health
human resources shortages plaguing obstetrical and well–woman care. However, many issues must

These studies, among others, indicates once again the need to have strong interprofessional
education, in addition to high–quality clinical trainee experience, and continued interprofessional
post–licensure education in order to make collaborative teams successful (Gilbert, 2005; Peterson et
al., 2007; Hammick, Freeth, Koppel, Reeves & Barr, 2007; Thistlewaite et al., 2014; Yu, Halapy,
Kaplan, Brydges, Hall, & Wong, 2016). Thistlewaite et al., (2014) also highlight the need for further
examination and dialogue to establish common terms and language that may improve ways in which
IPE can translate into successful IPC environments. The ability to work with professionals from
other disciplines and deliver collaborative, patient–centered care is considered a critical element of
professional practice requiring a very specific set of competencies. These competencies include
interprofessional competencies that are defined in a broad general way that go beyond knowledge
acquisition and include the use of clinical, technical communication and problem solving skills

Professional Code Of Ethics In Human Services
Professional code of ethics is the fundamental cornerstone in relation towards human services.
According to Reamer (1998) ethics in human services consist of four main periods: the morality
period; the ethical theory and decision making period; and ethical standards and risk management
period. That is why the area most relevant to human services from the three general subject area,
normative ethics studies the moral action regarding acceptable behaviours and conducts for
practitioners to follow regarding the standards and values that deem pertinent and appropriate for
those working these fields. It helps cover real dilemmas that might take place concerning the duty of
care, responsibilities and the rights of the different parties that are associated with the situation. The
use of the professional code of ethics within human services equips the practitioners to ask the right
set of questions that would help assist in decisions making and taking the right actions that are
morally right or wrong. The reason why it needs to be understood within a cultural framework and

Receiving support form coworkers can reassure a professional that they are doing a great job and
they are needed to make a difference in someone life. A coworker can offer encouraging words.
Knowing that promotions are available, this will make the professionals want to work harder and
not become stressed or burnout. These wellness strategies can be applied in the human service field
by forming coworkers support groups and by placing promotion opportunities on a board that is
visible to all professionals. "Staff burnout is debilitating to workers, costly to agencies, and
detrimental to clients" (Shinn, Morch, & Chestnut, 1984, p. 864) so there should be many wellness
strategies that is offered by the agency to prevent staff burnout. In conclusion, human service

Characteristics Of Human Service Professionals
Human service professionals are described as careers in which people help others who may be
struggling such as working in a nursery or working at a halfway home. These people dedicate their
lives to helping others and trying to better the world. The Human Services profession is one which
promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services,
but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals
and agencies in service delivery. In this essay I will list three qualities that I think every human
service professional should have and decide who meets these qualities and should join our task
force. Empathy is something that every human service professional should have. It's easy to feel bad
for someone you're working with, but to put yourself in someone's shoes is a bit more difficult and
should be a trait every human service professional has. Patients usually don't want to be pitied or
just told a simple sorry. Studies show that people react better when the professional shows that they
truly understand and makes them feel less alone. Being empathetic means not putting yourself
above the person no matter how different your situations are. An empathetic professional will not
make the patient feel as if their situation is so horrible and no one could ever understand. Instead
they will talk to the patient as if it was just a casual conversation and really try and understand how
they're feeling

Definition Of Human Service Professionals
For human service professionals, conflicts of interest have become some of the most problematic
and challenging issues that they face. A conflict of interest occurs when a human service
professional's relationship or services with a client is compromised because of actions or decisions
related to another client, a colleague, the client themselves, or a third party. When it comes to
conflicts of interest it is important to remember that boundaries in therapy have been put in place for
a very important reason. Human service professionals "should not take unfair advantage of any
professional relationship or exploit others to further their personal, religious, political, or business
interests" (National Association of Social Worker, 1996). Not all boundaries in therapy are
problematic or unethical, however many are. Boundary crossing, boundary violations, and dual and
multiple relationships are some of the most common conflicts of interest that occur in the human
service profession. Boundaries are crucial when it comes to client–human service professional
interaction. Boundaries are the invisible lines that define the relationship between a client and a
human service professional. Most human service professionals agree on a basic set of boundaries.
These basic boundaries include, but are not limited to: the time of an appointment should not change
frequently, sessions should take place in an office setting, fees should remain constant, and workers
should not engage in

Introduction There are a variety of people within the helping field in today's society. Human service
professionals, in general, must take into consideration all the skills and characteristics needed to be
effective within their profession such as being supportive, problem–focused, and working with
clients conscious. As there are characteristics that are considered essential, there are also
characteristics that can viewed as detrimental to the client such as personality reconstruction, being
judgmental leading to close–mindedness, and focusing on the past. Within the human service
profession, there are four skills that need to be developed before employment such as wellness,
relationship building, acceptance, and cross–cultural sensitivity. ... Show more content on

changes and really figuring out who they are as a person. In this process, it is important that the

and the teenager could then view the helper as being unsupportive. Helper's being unsupportive also
cause harm to the teenager because they may be sharing something person that they have not even

In choosing the location to outsource services, the political, educational and economic culture

consider the laws for employment of the individual country where the outsourced employees are

employment laws in some places are less harsh and employees may presume to put in up to 16 hours

Mutual Benevolence Trust In Professional Services

highly customised. This can be closely related to the E–profit monitor's. Targets have been set by
research, however it is our responsibility as advisors to be able to mould these targets for different
clientele to suit their particular enterprises. A high level of trust is required between the client and

Benevolence trust is largely based on emotional bonds between individuals; in contrast cognitive
trust is largely based on competence and responsibility (REF). Mutual benevolence trust opens up
communication and facilitates cooperation which allows advisors and clients within the agricultural

dealing with clients, the greater the mutual benevolence, there is an increased desire for me the
advisor to care and help a client. I have a vested interest to care and help the client accomplish
project goals. However for effective knowledge transfer, mutual competence trust is just as
important in this area. An even balance of mutual benevolence and competence trust is essential for
effective knowledge transfer and reaching the project outcomes (REF). By reflecting on my
experience in the office and being more conscious of the importance of trust, I feel I have moved

The Importance Of Professional Values Within A...
Reflective writing provides a good foundation for professional development, for both student nurses
and registered nurses (Benbow & Jordan, 2013). This reflective essay will look at the importance of
professional values in establishing a professional relationship with a service user. This reflection is
based on an experience I had on my first clinical placement as a student nurse, working in a mental
health setting within the North West of England. In order to comply with the Nursing and Midwifery
Council (NMC) Code of Confidentiality (2015), I will protect the service user's identity by referring
to her as 'Patient A'. Reflection is defined by Howatson–Jones (2013), as "a way of examining your
experience in order to look for the possibility of other explanations and alternative approaches to
doing things" (p. 6). The practice of reflection is important for numerous reasons. As stated by
Hargreaves and Page (2013), reflections promote good practice and in the occurrence of a difficult
or challenging situation, they can help to identify where things went wrong and how to improve the
outcome for future incidents. As identified by Jasper, Rosser and Mooney (2013), reflection offers
benefits to both the patient and the practitioner. Practitioners are more likely to avoid routine
practice, continuously develop their knowledge and identify faults to improve on. Patients are more
likely to receive higher standards of safety and better quality of care There are a number of different

Application Of Client For Service As A Helping Professional

  • 1. Application Of Client For Service As A Helping Professional As a helping professional it is imperative to be aware of the kind of client that may be most challenging to work with. The kind of challenge or problem that a client may bring would be one that causes distress to the provider. An example of that type of client would be a mother who has dealt with child abuse or any abuse as a child. The problem would stem from a client, as such who often physically abuses her children. The characteristics of this client in terms of how they behave may also cause a challenge, because the mother may display overly aggressive behavior to her children because of her past child abuse trauma. Also, if the is mother overly dependent on a substance to refrain from being aggressive and abusive to her children, would be consider another challenge with this kind of a client. I believe this kind of client would be challenging to service as a helping professional, because of the problems the children are forced experience. As a helping professional there is great compassion for the children in this situation. The client would be challenging because she is aggressive and offensive to her children and herself. This harm is caused to the client and her children, because the mother has not dealt with the internal issue of her past childhood abuse trauma. This condition would be beyond challenging because the mother is only causing the same issue for her children. Guiding the mother on how she has to address her problems physically and mentally in ... • 4. Ethical Use Of Professional Boundaries In Human Services Professional boundaries, in human services, are essential to helping clients and upholding the standards of the profession. Human service professionals provide several different services and are often faced with ethical dilemmas. Ethical dilemmas are a major reason professional boundaries are established as they protect both the helper and the individual seeking help. Boundaries are not just rules that we enforce with clients, they are essentially an understanding of how we interact with people, both, professionally and personally. Boundaries are crucial if you want to have an effective relationship with the individual you are helping. Professional boundaries set the structure of the relationship and provide a framework in which you will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I experienced one incident during my teaching tenure where professional boundaries were crossed and violated. A colleague became intimate with one of her students. After several rumors surfaced, the principal initiated an investigation and the school counselor was reported to the state board. The counselor was fired and lost her license. The counselor suffered many consequences because of her unethical actions and misuse of the imbalance of power she had over the student. However, the consequences suffered by the student, were far greater. The student was seeking the counselor's help for depression and the situation put him over the edge. He trusted, confided and respected her and she disregarded any potential harm this may have on the student. He eventually dropped out of school and the family moved away for a fresh start. Professional boundaries are in place for the safety of the helper and the client. Obviously, this professional did not have an understanding of her boundaries as they help caregivers avoid misconduct and recognize they are crossing from ethical to unethical ... • 6. The Role of Human Service Professionals Abstract The Human Service Professionals are a group of individuals whose job is specifically to serve the society, educate them and work for the societal welfare at large. In the twentieth century, organizational ethics have gained immense importance in the corporate world. The need to adhere to ethical standards is even greater for the human service professionals and those who educate them. This is because any deviance from ethical standards can question the integrity of human service professions and can raise question on the standards of social welfare. This is unhealthy for the trust relationships of the society over human service individuals. Introduction One tricky part of the job that human service professionals have to face in the course of their jobs is to make decisions pertaining to ethical dilemmas. Often, such decisions can be tricky because they trigger conflicts of interests between various stakeholders of the dilemma whereas human service professionals have their responsibility towards more than one stakeholder groups at the same time. This means they cannot violate the rights of one stakeholder in order to protect the rights of another stakeholder. Such decisions are often referred to as 'Right versus Right' decisions (Corey, Corey & Callanan,2005). This paper aims at evaluating the decision making process of human service professionals under situations facing ethical dilemma. The Importance Of A Human Service Professional In this paper I will write from the point of view of a human service professional in his last job in the field, as director and supervisor of a Daily Reporting Center (DRC), that serves the needs of individuals who have recently been released from serving time in a state prison. I will advise those in this agency who are just beginning their careers in human services, and leave them with the knowledge and wisdom I have gathered in my years of services to this community. • 23. Characteristics Of Human Service Professionals Human service professionals are described as careers in which people help others who may be struggling such as working in a nursery or working at a halfway home. These people dedicate their lives to helping others and trying to better the world. The Human Services profession is one which promotes improved service delivery systems by addressing not only the quality of direct services, but also by seeking to improve accessibility, accountability, and coordination among professionals and agencies in service delivery. In this essay I will list three qualities that I think every human service professional should have and decide who meets these qualities and should join our task force. Empathy is something that every human service professional should have. It's easy to feel bad for someone you're working with, but to put yourself in someone's shoes is a bit more difficult and should be a trait every human service professional has. Patients usually don't want to be pitied or just told a simple sorry. Studies show that people react better when the professional shows that they truly understand and makes them feel less alone. Being empathetic means not putting yourself above the person no matter how different your situations are. An empathetic professional will not make the patient feel as if their situation is so horrible and no one could ever understand. Instead they will talk to the patient as if it was just a casual conversation and really try and understand how they're feeling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Definition Of Human Service Professionals For human service professionals, conflicts of interest have become some of the most problematic and challenging issues that they face. A conflict of interest occurs when a human service professional's relationship or services with a client is compromised because of actions or decisions related to another client, a colleague, the client themselves, or a third party. When it comes to conflicts of interest it is important to remember that boundaries in therapy have been put in place for a very important reason. Human service professionals "should not take unfair advantage of any professional relationship or exploit others to further their personal, religious, political, or business interests" (National Association of Social Worker, 1996). Not all boundaries in therapy are problematic or unethical, however many are. Boundary crossing, boundary violations, and dual and multiple relationships are some of the most common conflicts of interest that occur in the human service profession. Boundaries are crucial when it comes to client–human service professional interaction. Boundaries are the invisible lines that define the relationship between a client and a human service professional. Most human service professionals agree on a basic set of boundaries. These basic boundaries include, but are not limited to: the time of an appointment should not change frequently, sessions should take place in an office setting, fees should remain constant, and workers should not engage in ...
